There wasn't supposed to be a festival or holiday for many months to come, but people from all over Shima were gathered in front of Shima Castle for a special ceremony. The group being sent after the relics had been officially made Heroes of Shima, as blessed as honored ancestors even if they end up failing and dying. Given that the journey could be a long one, people always wanted to make sure they knew that the clan appreciated them for the task. Any family or friends of the group were there and the nobles of the clan bowed down to them during the entire ceremony. It was a good time for most involved and many children were already talking about how cool the heroes are, with parents hyping them up about the great honor of the task. Many of those who mistreated or were skeptical of the half-oni were suddenly acting as if they never did, or the more respectful of them would actually apologize. The whole clan was counting on them, and for atleast that day all of them were given the respect normally reserved for the Daimyo. Once things winded down a bit, Lord Shima made sure to speak them and give them a proper farewell message and explanation on the authority given to them.

"Heroes of Shima, we are eternally grateful to you for even taking this journey in the first place. I want to assure you that anything you need from me is yours, and any resources from nearby Shima villages is yours to take. As long as you are in Hasiano you are welcome to come back and gain support from our military if needed. Beyond this Island I can sadly not help much but as my official representatives you have my complete support in any diplomatic decisions you make, and each of you will be given my seal to prove your status. Our future depends on you both in the form of our relics, as well our status with other clans." He spoke in a strong yet still friendly tone of voice, before dismissing the meeting and allowing them to get ready. He would hang around for a bit and answer any questions they had, as well as allow them to leave or talk among themselves. By his projections they had enough time to not have to rush straight out the gate, plus the guide he hired wasn't at the city just yet so he would allow them a little more time before the true stress of their journey would start.

The ceremony was absolutely beautiful through the eyes of Jiang Baji. He had never been treated so well or held in such high regard. The warrior felt guilty, he felt as if he betrayed his brothers and sisters by receiving such honor and praise from others, something that they were all fighting for in a foreign country. This display of respect and praise wouldn't fill his head up and he knew that in the end, it wasn't the exact honor that they were seeking. His family's mission was still a priority and they had to be recognized back in that foreign land.

Jiang turned his attention to Lord Shima, the man who took him in and gave him a place to stay and bowed respectfully to him. Baji hoped that this man would survive the chaos long enough in this land so he could help his family out when they really needed him. He hoped that Shima would be the one to prosper. Jiang baji took in a deep breath as he stared down at the earth and spoke to his temporary lord.
"Much obliged for the ceremonies and appreciation from you and your people, Lord Shima. I, Jiang Baji The Dog, shall carry out this task and do everything in my power to right the wrong that your clan has been delivered." Jiang then hopped off of his feet and unsheathed his blade, pointing it to the heavens while pointing his forefinger at his lord. His legs were bent forward with one leg extended, yet slanted behind him and his other leg more frontward with his knee also pointing towards Lord Shima. "May everyone else's ancestors, the ones who built this land, the ones who laid the very foundation for this clan watch over us, guide our decisions and council us when all hope seems lost!" He purposefully left out his own ancestors. Jiang then turns his attention to his traveling allies, looking them all over and seeing nothing but imperfections, things that make them stand out and look like outcasts just like himself. He lowered his head and smiled a bit, this made him feel like he was home with his family and the young man hoped that his brothers and sisters were also able to share a similar feeling while they were out as well.

Baji had been acquainted with these people since he was chosen to partake in this mission and so far, he had nothing but love and respect for all of them. The vagabond adorned in blue walked towards them each individually to assure them that he would do his part to keep everyone safe and inspire hope within them all starting with Yuudai. He places his hand on her shoulder, makes eye contact and grins at her.
"During this journey, I ask for your culinary skills to keep us healthy and full and in return, you have my blade to protect your flanks." He then makes his way towards Kenji, repeating the gesture and looking straight at him. "I ask for your tea to compliment every meal and in return, you have my word that the history of our culture shall forever be respected and protected." Jiang makes his way over to Jin, looks down at him with a smile and gives him a thumbs up. "I ask for your tenacity in all challenges to come, and in return-" Jiang places his hand on Gin's head and playfully rustles his hair. "-You have my height!" Baji then makes his way to Hibiki, plants both of his hands on the monk's shoulders and briefly sighs. Part of him really didn't want him to come with them, he felt as if this mission could not be accomplished without the loss of life. He didn't want to have to surround an honorable pacifist with so much bloodshed. Still he persevered throughout his doubts and smiled once more. "I ask for you, my friend to guide our hearts and protect us from becoming the devil that we all set out to face. For this, I give you my eyes to always be your sight, your back and your front shall always be protected." Jiang made his way to Tarou and placed his hand on his shoulder just like the others. "I ask for the speed and cunning of the Sasaki Clan's heir and in return I give you and your clan The Dog's loyalty." His rounds were almost over as he made his way towards Metou. Jiang sat down before her Indian-style and smiled at the old veteran. "I ask for your wisdom and your accuracy and in return you have my body as your shield. You will see the end of this journey." Jiang Baji finally ended with Nana. He leaned back and pointed his thumbs and forefingers at her with an enthusiastic grin. "I ask for your agility and in return you have my energy to ensure that it's never a dull moment during our travels."

Jiang had hoped that they all received his words well, he didn't want anyone to have any doubt in their hearts about their allies during their travels. You have to be able to trust the man by your side or you both may fall. He had done enough talking for now, and decided to be quiet and give the stage back to his lord or anyone else who wanted to speak.

During the ceremony Yuudai had been enjoying herself with all the different food on display and getting what she wanted when she asked for it, and even though she knew full well why they were doing all this it was at least nice that she could be treated normally for a change. Shame she had to promise she would risk her life to do so but it was a start. She was a little saddened by the fact her mother was not there to see her off but she was on her own trip, and besides the children were acting as they always did towards her which made her happy again. They were always trying to get her to play with them, not caring in the slightest what she was but just how she was, the eyes of innocence was a grand thing.

Yuudai was on her best behavior while listening to Lord Shima's kind words, even stating them as heroes and she had to admit that it felt rather good to be called such from the leader of such a ancient clan. She gave a curt bow to the man as she spoke "Thank you, the resources you provide us will be most helpful, I do susopect we will be getting a boat to get to the other islands as well? I don't like swimming in deep water." It was nice to know that they would be so well looked after by the clan, much better than some other jobs she accepted where they did not even attempt to pay her respect for her skills even if she was half oni. She suspected the little blacksmith could relate to that given his line of work and all.

However what did break her composer was the words from the titled Dog of Shima, his hand on her shoulder and the grin across his lips told her he so meant to say what he did just to anger her! She lowered her head and tried to hide her ticked off exspression so she could keep calm but by his final words to the others and with his back to her Yuu moved up to Jiang's back and attempted to reach out and grab the top of his head. At which point she would flex her sizable muscles to give him a good bullying squeeze! "Oh? Just for my cooking skills is it? Good to know you will be doing-" She would continue to bully him as she spoke, or trying to catch him if he dodged the first time. "-All the fighting and deal with the youkai from this point on. Make sure to be a good meat shield for all of us ok?~" Despite her strained and teasing words she continued to look on with a indifferent expression, this was like a normal day for her since she would have tried this many times before given she worked with him for the Shima family.

The words of the Shima Clan's Daimyo rang through Tarou's ears, his ears perked up, and tail swishing left and right in an excited way. Many times in the past had the Sasaki Clan brought honor to their family, but none would be greater than this. For years, Tarou had never understood the reasoning to the Sasaki Clan's love for the Shima, but he understood it today. It was a tight friendship and if it was not for them, they would still be a brutish and bloodthirsty clan, as well as an enemy of the Shima Clan. He felt gratitude for being allowed on this quest by the Shima Daimyo and was ready to take on this journey, no matter how dangerous it was.

After the ceremony, he approached the Daimyo and bowed to him. "As The Rising Sun of the Sasaki Clan, I hope that my service will increase friendship between our peoples. May your rule, family, and clan continue to live in prosperity, My Lord." He bowed once more, as much as he could, as a sign of great respect and trust. He was, after all, a most beloved friend of the Sasaki Clan. "I shall do everything in my power to aid you in your time of need." He then turned to meet his partners, the ones that he was eager to greet.

At first, Tarou was unsure of how to approach them, since they all came from different backgrounds. Of course, one man would break the ice. He would bring encouragement to Tarou. Of course, Yuudai would bully him in a friendly manner. Tarou laughed, giving Yuudai a pat on the back, "Be any more rougher with him and you'll kill the poor man. He only chuckled more until he was approached by the very same man, grabbing onto Tarou's shoulders, and asking him for one thing: "I ask for the speed and cunning of the Sasaki Clan's heir and in return I give you and your clan The Dog's loyalty." Jiang Baji said to him, which made Tarou smile. "You are a strange individual, but I will give you these things my friend, that is a promise. Tarou thought for a second, wondering more about the lost artifacts as he began to think to himself. Who could have taken them and for what purpose? He felt a need to confront the Daimyo straight away, as his scholarly side took over him. "Lord Shima, I have a question, if you do not mind. I was wondering if you had any evidence on these people that took them. Surely they must have left some clues behind? He took out a small parchment of paper and a quill, ready to write down anything that Lord Shima had for him.

This was exciting. Everything was exciting. The Shima Daimyo could only make things even more exciting as a speech was given about his deepest gratitude and as everything could only be hyped up even more, knowing they were going to be the clan’s biggest hope to get the relics returned just made everything feel amazing. If there was a way to describe Gin right now it would be anxious, finding the excitement to be oddly overwhelming as time went on. If there wasn’t food during the ceremony there probably would’ve been little to stop him from feeling nerve-stricken over what he had to do despite his deepest desire to find what was stolen from them. To hear the Shima Daimyo to give them such high praises and hearing not a peep about what he and some of his team were made everything so much better, finally given peace from terrible looks and words the first time in his life.

To be the shortest half-Oni of the group was going to be tough on Gin. He had a lot of competition even if there was nothing to win other than the respect of his peers. He must hold a lot of trust if he was given this chance regarding his appearance, but he shouldn’t have to care about that right now. Feeling proud with shaky knees he eased up after Lord Shima granted them time to get ready. Giving a quick bow before his attention turned to the rest of the group. This was going to be quite the tough journey even with his strength and durability, his trust that these people would allow him to protect them resting on the hope that they didn’t underestimate him.

Adjusting his cloak gently he brushed his shoulders down, letting out a sigh before turning towards the one named Jiang Baji. He was quick to familiarise himself with the group, giving them his praise and confidence he could protect them in return. Smiling hopefully up at him, he searched his words for their true meaning, his smile slowly fading before he let out a grunt as his hair was ruffled. What a great first impression that was: it sounded like the guy didn’t know what he offered on the table at all. He’ll show him height didn’t matter, show him he was more than just determined to do what everyone else was hoping to do too.

Snorting as he adjusted his messy hair into something a little less messy, Gin was back on his way to victory. He didn’t have anything to ask the Daimyo, he knew what he had to do and was well prepared for it; however, the only thing he didn’t know was whether this group really was compatible with each other. He would soon see for himself. He will show everyone what he is made of, in the end. Everyone will be singing his praises once he returns and everyone will see half-Oni were not dumb brutes inferior to both Oni and Human, especially when there was so many of his kind in the group.

Though it contributed to her reputation as an outsider separated from the clan's customs, someone not truly to be trusted as an elder in the village, Metou normally stayed on the outskirts of festivities. It may have been her upbringing and subsequent banishment from a village that frowned upon anything excitable, but Metou was always uncomfortable in an energetic crowd. Unfortunately, shying away wasn't an option at this particular festival. As a volunteer to recover Shima's stolen relic, Metou was now one of the guests of honor. Metou wore her nicest eyepatch just for the occasion, adorned with crow feathers.

When it came time to address the lord, Metou made her way towards the others, each step of hers requiring the aid of her walking stick and loudly slapping together the bottles she hung on her body. She ignored how the others returned Lord Shima's words, as she had to focus on what to say herself. Metou only found herself snappy in a conversation when she needed to lie, giving respect wasn't one of her strong suits. 'Whatever you say, don't tell him you'll 'keep an eye' on everyone else,' Metou told herself sternly. Instead she answered, "I'm honored that you accept my aid, Lord Shima. It is always my pleasure to serve our clan in times of crisis." She vowed to at least make sure that the Lord's seal was not abused in their representative duties.

One of her allies in this endeavor began addressing each of the members of the group individually. Now that was a ritual Metou definitely did not plan on involving herself in, but she appreciated his words of praise, especially when she say how Yuudai responded. When Jiang asked for her wisdom, Metou could only chuckle. She never thought about herself as wise, no matter how many people thought of her as an elder or a teacher. Only when Jiang moved to talk to the half-oni next to her did something Jiang said sink in. 'What does he mean I'll see the end of this journey?' Metou thought with a twisted and puzzled look on her face. 'Does this cur think I can't handle myself? Or that my life is too short for a long trip like this?'

Metou glanced an eye up at Gin, who also seemed to receive a bit of a backhanded compliment. The half-oni stood about a head over the old woman. "Don't worry, you still tower over at least one person here," Metou said, hoping to lift his spirits. Of course, Metou was about half a foot taller when she was younger, and she was embarking on this journey to find an opportunity to exercise her magic. Metou hoped her words weren't just setting Gin up for a fall later on.

Blah blah blah, boring. It's not like Nana would listen to those speeches anyways, she got the gist; Save the world, do the thing, whatever. Hey, but what was interesting were those vases, and how useful they would be on her journey, my she could do anything with a vase; Hold things in it, use it for... Things... But would she be able to fit it in her bags? She had enough souvenirs as it was, but one could never have enough.

"Wha-" She snapped out of her daze and simply rested her gaze upon Jiang, the Dog. "Hah!" Nana raised a thumb and gave him a large toothy grin. "Hell yeah dude, I'm totally going to agree to whatever you just said." The young girl nodded, chuckling lightly as she then glanced over at the others who gave him slack for his comments. 'I have no idea what that guy just fucking said'. That thought crossed her mind, yet she simply smiled and waved. Yeah, she'd be better off by just smiling and waving.

This little celebration was fun and all, however Nana would much rather get a head start on their little journey. She seemed to be placed in good hands, everyone had a specified job, or background to aid them in their travels. So in a way, they were all well endowed.

"Yup yup yup." Nana chimed, butting in on their conversation even if she did understand very little of what they were talking about. She might as well dabble among them for awhile until they actually start doing things. Important things. "Height and stuff, and a lot of words. Yeah." Ever so slowly she attempted to weasel her way in.

Kenji had never felt so honored in his life. Nor has he felt so much fear. All of Shima treated the fellowship as if they were heroes, a ceremony for them was thrown and they were given utmost respect by all of Shima, even the nobles. The Daimyo himself gave a speech that he and the entirety of Shima Clan would be eternally grateful for them and that he will always be willing to help the heroes in any way he can. While those were words of encouragement, it only served to add weight on the responsibility that sat comfortably on Kenji's shoulders. Nonetheless, Kenji was more than honored that he would be partaking in a journey that meant something crucial about the relationship between the Spirit World and the Mortal World.

However, he was worried about his clan, especially Shinja Harada. That technology-embracing warrior was always ambitious, ever bugging Lord Oja about the human conflicts of Baji. Kenji would not be surprised if he was to spark a rebellion and take Lord Shima's throne for the Oja, if not take it for himself and rejoin the main conflict in Baji. Fortunately, his Lord Takeshi was wise enough not to take Shinja's words too seriously so Kenji has faith that Lord Oja would keep Shinja on a leash.

Kenji's thoughts were interrupted when a man of blue clothing placed a hand on his shoulder and grinned.

"I ask for your tea to compliment every meal and in return, you have my word that the history of our culture shall forever be respected and protected."

Kenji recognized this man. This was Jiang Baji, the Dog of Shima. "I shall, Sir Baji." Kenji was not sure why he has a demeaning title. He was certainly not an evil person. Maybe it is actually a complimentary title? Whatever the reason may be, the answer will elude Kenji for now. Jiang proceeded to greet the rest of the fellowship before getting into a hassle with the half-Oni Yuudai Wakahisa. A skilled person, great at the mystic arts and at the kitchen. She would make a great wife. Kenji blushed lightly at the weird thoughts he suddenly had. Surely there was--

"Found you, Kenji." A familiar, gruff voice called out to him. Kenji turned and found a man in yellow samurai armor, two katana sheathes on his waist and held a large sword wrapped in cloth. The Yang wanted to smack his face at the mistake he made and the glory he gave. "You forgot this."

Shinja gave Kenji's large and broad sword. "...Thank you." Kenji reluctantly said.

"At first I thought you were delusional enough to not need weapons and only your gods." Shinja said his usual banter. "But then Lord Oja sent me with that. Said he knew you were nervous about all this." It seems Kenji will have to thank his Lord. Though if Lord Takeshi knew he would be nervous, why was he sent then?

"Just don't try anything funny while I'm away, Shinja." Kenji warned.

"Or what? Your gods will strike me with lightning?" Shinja retorted. "Whatever. I won't okay? That Tenzin guy is too much too handle anyway." Shinja whispered the last words. "No promises though." The Yin said his last words before walking away.

Kenji let out a sigh. He hoped Lord Takeshi would keep that leas tight.

The Narrator The friendly Voice inside your Head

For Hibiki the ceremony consisted of a thousand melodies. He heard the sunlight, the birds in the sky, the hope in the villagers and the curiousness in the eyes of the children. Lord Shimas melody was a friendly tone, but at the same time is was epic, commanding like something that would play during a battle. The lord had given Hibiki the task to listen to all his companions, to find out if one of them would be a danger to the group. That did not seem the case.

There was the melody of Yuudai, one of the Half-Oni. Her tune seemed harsh and loud, but was actually pretty soft. She seemed like a dangerous warrior on the surface, mostly because she was, but on the inside she was a good person. Someone who cared. Hibiki still put her on the list of those who he should watch.
Hibiki almost did not notice Jiang when he put his hands on his shoulders. He nodded as an answer to the friendly words. Jiangs Melody was fast, fascinating and exotic. Still one could hear the tone of an warrior and a noble friend, as well as a special lightness.
Kenji's melody was one of harmony. It was a devout song, like it would be sung by Shima monks. Also one could hear a friendly tune in it.
When Hibiki first listened to Gin he laughed. It was a playful, childish song one the one hand and a beastly, aggressive and much darker song on the other. It was something special.
Tarou was called the rising sun, for Hibiki he sounded a lot like that. Proud, brave and radiant, impatiently waiting for its time at the zenith.
The old Tengu women had a sound like nothing Hibiki heard before. Mostly because he never before met a Tengu. Her melody reminded Hibiki of an bird who broke his wings. It may once have sounded like the endless blue sky, but now it had bitter tunes in it.
Nana was a high tune, filled with the joy and energy of a child.

Hibiki looked forward to this journey. He knew it was going to be dangerous. He knew people might die. But he would do everything to help his group. While everyone talked and the little children played, Hibiki listened. "This is going to be our journey. I am grateful to go them with any of you.", he said quietly.

Lord Shima was glad to see them getting along so well, it meant they would work well together and actually protect one another. Many had doubts on putting together a group such as this, worrying about egos getting in the way or the low birth members defecting at the first chance. He though saw a group that could easily become a family if given enough time, a group worthy of being the stuff of legends to come. He would give a faint bow in return to those who simply responded to his speech and allow them to continue mingling with the others. Some however spoke directly to him, the first a very simple question about a boat from one of the Half-Oni. There was no guarantee that they would even have to leave the island, but he was pleased that she was already making sure they were able to at a moment's notice. He smiled at her as he gave a friendly reply.

"Of course you will be given a boat. My friends the Sinkara have been sent word and payment for them to craft their finest ship that should take you to any island you need to go. I promise that you won't be forced to swim with the others sitting on your back, you'll need to save your great strength for protecting the clan." Ensuring to compliment her strength as a Half-Oni, to show that it is a strength and not a weakness like some would claim. It had always bothered him that even in his clan some treated those of mixed blood with disrespect, all that mattered to him was a person's heart not their body. With three half-Oni in the group he hoped that it would help change the perception of the others still trying to live their lives within the Shima towns and villages.

The other was the group's sole Neko, a loyal member of a vassal clan and a future Daimyo himself. His question was more serious and was focused directly on the goal of the very important mission. Lord Shima paused for a moment as he stared at young lord before him. "We don't know much beyond what we knew when they claim, and all of that was likely a lie. Some of them seemed to transform before they escaped and some of the guards knocked fragments off of their bodies. We have collected those and other samples left behind from things they damaged or dropped. They seem foreign and as such are beyond what most of us know, but there is a magi in the village of Miyo who studied magic with the Zhu Empire across the sea. We have sent them to him, after you search the villages on the edge of our lands for any additional signs or clues he would be a good man to see. He may have knowledge that will help you if you don't find them nearby." He had never met the man in person but he had developed quite the reputation among the western villages for his knowledge on things from outside of the Isles and his unique theories on magic and spirits. He had no hope but to simply hope the man could be trusted, after all he had shown no signs of hostile yet.

Baji was caught in a headlock and had his hair messed up by Yuudai. Usually this was a grave offense that demanded action to be taken, but it was nothing more than a minor annoyance due to his hair being in an ordinary style and his family not being there with him. It seemed as if she misinterpreted his words as misogynistic or maybe that her cooking was the only value that she had. Jiang Baji pried his head free from her grasps and fixed his hair. "Please, leave the hair out of this. I hold your culinary skills in high regard. You are the only one I would ask to prepare my final meal. I meant no offense." He had hoped that his words were enough to settle that misunderstanding. It seemed as if his words of encouragement were received improperly on a few others as well, and one didn't seem to care at all. Such a lack of companionship was an odd and foreign feeling to Jiang Baji and he would do his best to bring everyone closer together in whatever way that he could. The blind monk and the old crow were his biggest concerns, he always set out to protect the little guy and make them feel safe even if they did have decades more of experience and could take him out from a distance without him even knowing.

The success of this mission was crucial for Lord Shima and Jiang Baji himself. He needed to win Shima's favor for the future and to become stronger himself. The azure warrior approached his lord once more, bowing before his graciousness and spewing out his fears of failure to him.
"My lord, I have been struck with terrible fear of us failing you in the worst way possible! As you can see, we are very diverse and come from different backgrounds with different morals. Our greatest strength can also be our greatest weakness if we allow ourselves to swallow each other up! There may come a time where we can not agree on the course of action to take or how to approach a situation, few may suggest peace while others vote for violence. We could be caught off guard by the enemy or let an opportunity slip through the ether due to egos, ideals and bickering!" Jiang took in one last deep breath before continuing on with his point. "I humbly ask that you make accommodations to send a politician or someone who will act as your final verdict! Elect someone to carry the burden of making the impossible decisions so that we have no choice but follow in your honor and so that our egos will not get the better of us!" He spoke with such spirit and fervor in his voice and thought only of the survival of his group. For them and the Shima Clan, he would always remain humble and stalwart, he would always fight for them in the name of justice!

The information was written down on paper, with every detail he could write down being there. He read it over silently to himself, nodded, then put them away into a small little bad. He bowed yet again to Lord Shima, with a smile on his face. "Thank you, Lord Shima. I am sure this will come in handy during our journey. We will not fail." He would then walk back to the group, to stare down the Half-Oni girl that was trying to make small talk with everyone. Approaching her, he tapped her shoulder, his ears flattening a bit. "You should try harder if you want to engage in conversation." He chuckled a bit and patted her back, a grin on his face.

After some time, he would check his supplies to make sure he was ready for his trip. Paintbrush? Check. Paper? Check. Family sword? Check. Everything seemed to be in order! With that, he stretched out, waved to everyone else, and began to walk out of the Daimyo's castle. "I shall wait for you all outside, do not hesitate to catch up." As soon as he left the home of Lord Shima, he sat down with his legs crossed, his eyes wandering at everything around him. A beauty this place was. It was a perfect time to begin painting! With his paintbrush and paper in hand, he started to paint what he saw...humming to himself quietly. A Sasaki Clan's lullaby is a soothing, yet energetic tone. It relaxed him as he waited for the others...though he was in no rush whatsoever.

Yuudai listened to Lord Shima before she flexed one more time to let go of Jiang's head and allow him to try and correct himself, though she only meant it in a bullying way it seemed that The Dog had yet to get use to her brand of affection. To be fair he had only been there a little while compared to her. Looking back over her shoulder to the words of Tarou of the Sasaki Clan she gave a dismissive wave, she was sure that he would not break so easily... maybe.

Now having the time to do so she could not help but look at the mix matched group that they had gathered here, some faces she knew and others she was thankful were here though she had to admit that she was unsure of one of their number. Her gaze landed on the monk who seemed different and yet she could not help but feel a certain peace even when simply looking at the man, like looking at a calm lake.

Yuu waited until Lord Shima had finished with the others before she started to make her way over to him, making sure to pass by Metou on her way just to give a small comment to what she said. Her form towering above both the old crow and tiny half oni Gin "Glad to hear you can last a little longer" It would be troublesome if Yuu had to carry her the rest of the way, and a small smirk broke across her lip at the thought of that.

After reaching Lord Shima she looked down to him for a moment before lowering herself so she was eye level; though she was not one for formality Lord Shima had her fullest respect. Over the years she had worked here she had only felt more welcomed within her own home while Shima was around. Yuu had learned much from this man in the ways of the youkai as he had learned from what she could share of her mothers teachings, something she hoped they shared. Shima was more than a clan to her or a simple job, it was a second home.

"Tenzin..." She spoke softly so only she and Lord Shima could likely hear but not one to be so formal she used the lords real name, which was a show of respect in her own way. "I-, We will return with the relics I can promise you this, I do dislike seeing you so worried my lord. I do hope that everyone wont fall apart while I am gone" She was trying to cheer the man up a little, he was a true leader to not show it but in the end he was still human and she understood. They could not talk like this for long as things had to continue but if these were to be her final words to the lord in confidence then she would rather take the chance now.

Lord Shima listened to the concern and it misplaced, and even if it wasn't it would be simply a bad idea in his eyes. Sending someone to represent him for the group could easily just end up with someone looking out for themselves and their personal gain, or Shima's fall in exchange for something dishonorable like money. "Relax Son, I trust you all will figure out how to handle any problem. Trust in yourself and the souls of your allies and simply do what you think is right. If you must have a leader than I'd rather you all decide for yourselves after you have gotten more used to each other. Either way though I know you'll be fine. After all, you are named after these great Islands we all call home, live up to it and trust your countrymen." It was a point he wasn't going to argue, and hoped that Baji would leave it alone.

Turning away from him, he noticed Yuudai approaching him once more to speak. He looked up at her and smiled, his gaze lowering as she moved down to be eye level with him. As always he would dismiss any notion that he was worried or sad, instead just laughing it off. "Hahaha! I'm far from worried Young Lady. I know you all will succeed with ease that will tell all future enemies to think twice before attempting to make any moves against the Shima Clan!" He said loudly before placing a hand on her shoulder. "You will find the relics, gain new friends for us, and return to great celebration that we will hold in your honor once again! Hahaha! And then you can marry one of my sons! Yuudai, The Lady of Shima! How does that sound?" He said loudly enough so that everyone nearby could hear, causing those not in the group to whisper among themselves about what such a thing meant.

Kenji's day has already has gone sour thanks to Shinja showing him off but Kenji took a sharp inhale and purged the bad thoughts off his head. He then turned back to Lord Shima who was conversing with some of the fellowship. Kenji also wanted to say some words to the Daimyo and so made his way to him. By the time he reached Lord Shima, the Daimyo was talking to the half-Oni Yuudai. The mystic promised Lord Shima that the mission would succeed since she did not like the Daimyo in a worried state. Lord Tenzin simply laughed the notion off and let Yuudai know that he was confident that the fellowship would succeed which would lead to a celebration and possibly marriage for the half-Oni into the Shima family. Kenji raised an eyebrow at that and while it was unusual, it was possible given the family's viewpoints.

Once Yuudai was done, it was Kenji's turn. "Lord Shima." The Yang bowed at the Daimyo. He was always thankful for Lord Tenzin Shima. The Daimyo who let the Oja survivors settle near their home with little question, even befriending the small clan and not assimilating it into their own like the logical action. "It is an honor to participate in this venture. And like, Miss Wakahisa said, we promise the return the relics."

"But... please do be careful around my fellow servant, Shinja Harada." Kenji warned. "If he tries anything, I ask of you not to hold it against the Oja."

The 'evidence' Lord Shima brought up was the most immediately interesting to Metou. 'This is the first I've heard of them 'transforming'. It sounds interesting, and familiar, but it's alarming to hear new information at this point,' Metou thought.

She was prepared to tune out the others and think of what to do next, but one of the half-onis broke her concentration. "Glad to hear you can last a little longer" Metou simply turned her head away and grumbled slightly. She couldn't tell how belittling Yuudai was intending to be, and she was intimidating regardless. Metou didn't want to respond.

Metou glanced outside as more promises to the lord were delivered, and as Lord Shima rejected the request for a leader. The only personal item Metou had requested from the village was ammunition and gunpowder, and some money to buy some more in the next town over. However, there were still other things she assumed they needed, such as food and some tenting, and other clues they might need.

Once Kenji was done making his promises to the Lord, Metou said to no one in particular, "On the subject of leadership, someone swifter and more focused than I should ensure that we have everything we need before we depart, in both supplies and information. I think I'll be outside as well." In need of some fresh air, away from the multitude of watching eyes from the villagers celebrating their mission, Metou began to make her way outside. It was impossible for her to slink away quietly, considering the noise her jars made. Though the village threw their respect upon the group now, Metou wondered what they thought of the sound of fluid-filled jars clanking around underneath her cloak, and what they would think if one of them contained her own eye.

The mask of cold indifference was suddenly shattered as Yuudai heard Lord Shima's words, her eyes going wide and a bright blush crossing her cheeks as the suggestion sunk in. "I-I should get ready to leave, ex...excuse me" She tried to regain her composer, her voice shaking a little as she stood upright before making her way towards the exit in a hurry. She was sure he did not really mean the words he spoke, after all for who she was it was very unlikely, but they had disarmed her either way and the whispers from the crowd did not help at all.

She had never even thought of the prospect, after all many people were so intimidated by her or her race that they just generally stayed their distance. Besides she was not much of a lady with her natural tattoos, muscled form and general lack of lady like actions meant there were always other prospects for people to chase after. Thinking about it made the flustered oni a little sad, lowering her head to the groud in contemplation.

With her gaze to the floor she didn't notice Hibiki until the very moment she almost bumped into him, she didn't know if she had stopped in time or the blind monk had somehow moved out of the way but that did not matter. "Ah, sorry.. " Moving past him she picked up the bundle by the door, the large rusted slab of iron she called a sword easliy being lifted by the flustered women before she made her way out to prepare with the others.

Their lord put his complete trust in them and in return he asked Baji to do the same with his allies. He would get off from the floor and stride forward and make his way towards the exit. Baji quickly turned his attention to Hibiki before exiting, however. He walked over to the monk and addressed him once more. "I do not mean to offend or make you sound incapable of basic movement, but do you need any help or would you like a friend to walk out with you?" He wasn't trying to be insensitive, but he didn't want to just join the rest without checking on Hibiki in case he did need some help finding his way out.

Gin probably would had said something about the questionable statement about his height but he wasn’t going to be rude first thing to the people he was supposed to be travelling with. It wasn’t going to do him any good if he was making enemies before he could finally have some friends. He was supposed to be one of the best in their village for the job and yet if he was going to end up badmouthing others just because they underestimated him he knew they might try to reconsider everything. It was probably a bit pathetic, what with him being the shortest half-Oni there, but at least he knew he had more bite than bark any day. Shifting his foot he soon sighed, pulling at his sleeves before gasping when someone spoke to him. Turning quickly to face them he saw it was the little woman, Tengu by the looks of it. Staring at them for a moment he soon huffed, quickly giving the back of his head a scratch. ”Well thanks, I suppose…”

It wasn’t so much encouraging to hear that as it was just a bit of a quick observation. Her being short wasn’t a big deal considering what she was and being only taller than her still made him the shortest male. He had to get that off his mind; there were more important things to think about other than his height and whether the people would believe in him. Once they went into battle he knew he would be one of the first to jump into battle and prove his worth. He had practiced for a long time and was well prepared to kill if he had to; besides, he’d probably shame his fellow half-Oni warriors if he proved to be a coward.

Not feeling too interested in the chatter that was going on Gin simply kept to himself, not really up to attracting any attention when it probably would be directed towards his age, height or something regarding his muscular size. If there was ever going to be someone who would have to soak all the teasing it would probably have to be him and he would show he could be a man about it and take it with dignity. Folding his arms he let out a huff, heading towards the exit with the others.

Yuudai's reaction only made Lord Shima laugh even more, at her flustered she had gotten before suddenly having to leave. He was relieved to change the subject as she had been right, he was very worried things were going to get pretty bad and he knew it. It's why he gave them authority to act as representatives and forge alliances, because he had a feeling this was going to go way beyond a simple case of theft. He had things he was doing to help with that, but he would deal with them after the group had left, no need to make them worry any more than they had to. He quickly pushed all those thoughts aside once Kenji came to him with his own words, causing the Daimyo to give a small nod in return. The Oja were friends, and even if Shinja was a little rough around the edges he was considered a friend too and that wasn't expected to change.

"If he does do anything crazy don't worry, it isn't anyone's fault but his own. But I'm not afraid him, plenty have tried to take my life before and all have failed so I have no reason to think he'd be the one to succeed. Plus if he did that would mean one of my sons would take control of the clan, and I'm sure no one wants that! Hahaha!" He joked loudly. He loved all of his sons and so did most of the clan but most agreed that none of them were really ready for a leadership position that high. Only one of them was even married, and none them had enough experience with the more difficult decisions. But still they were his sons and all great in their own way, he had faith that they would all fit perfectly into leadership positions when the time was right.
