So who's been to see it? Thoughts, impressions? Spoilers within Hiders?

I saw it last night and it's an incredibly fun film. All of the cast did a fantastic job and the characters were brilliant with the humour being spot on. Easily one of Marvel's best films up there with Iron Man, Avengers and Cap 2!

Yep, I'd definitely have to agree in thinking it's probably Marvel's best film so far if not best comic book film too! So many good highlights.

Was good, but it's getting more praise than I think it should.

Your expectations are either too high, or you're looking for something in the wrong genre.

My expectations was to high. Well, I was going into it expecting one thing and I was initially disappointed with what I saw. A day or two later I started to taker the movie for what it WAS and not what I WANTED it to be.

Star-Lord, Groot, Nebula, and Yondu were my preferred characters, although Nebula and Yondu didn't get as much screentime as I wanted them to, but they weren't important enough to get that screentime, so that's just me, not the movie's fault. I really wanted to like Gamora and Drax but I felt like something was off, not sure why though. The comedy was actually pretty good, but I didn't much like the dancing parts of the movie, especially at the end. Ronan looked and felt like a cheap villain and I didn't much care for him. While the CONCEPT of the plot was good (a team of outlaws forming out of mutual benefits), I didn't much care for how it occurred throughout the film.

One thing I can give praise to is that the characters were all very different, unique, and varied and offered something different to the table. Not to mention the fact that each character played a pivotal role in the outcome of the movie and no one got the Hawkeye treatment. The movie was a fresh break from the standard Marvel films.

But still, I'd only rank it a 7/10 for Marvel. Captain America 2 was 10/10, Avengers is 9/10.

Still don't understand the hype behind Cap 2. Maybe I missed something, but I found the movie pretty dull. Avengers, GotG, and the first Iron Man are the best Marvel movies to date, the rest are mediocre at best.

The Dark Knight is the best comic book movie, if any of you can stand to call it that. Many people prefer just to call it a Nolan movie, which is understandable.

I found Ronan to be heaps better than Loki.

He was more threatening and intimidating. Never really cared for Loki to be honest and Ronan is one of my favourite marvel characters in the comics.

Well, in comic-verse, Gamora was a cluster of retcons and character-deaths that would get retconned through 'magic'.
-Story-wise, she had already died, like, four times. Including being totally erased from ever existing at least once. She got better.

Trying to shove that shit and drama (time travel, warlock, two reincarnations*, and a series of pre-pre-emptive genocidal rampages) into a single movie got trimmed down to "She's a time-paradox; Thanos did it".
*at one point she got sucked into a rock for a few years.

Not sure what was up and off with Drax, though. Maybe they couldn't fit enough of Gamora's backstory on Gamora so they invented Drax (which is partially true, see also the Phalynx hive-mind).
