Caits said "Zack? Or Griffin?"Phoebe was pleased to be paired up with Katherin. She knew her friend, knew her abilities, and could work easily with Katherin. She smiled, feeling relief, looking over to Austin and Kyra. She had never been too sure what Kyras abilities were, but Austin's seemed pretty much obvious. She turned to Katherin, "are you ready?" She asked, it would be good for once to have someone to fight with, to defend and work with. And she knew they'd be able to do well together.

"Griffin." He answered with a sigh when he heard Conner call for him. He climbed to his feet and moved closer to the other boy. "You're the tech kid right? The one with the suit? Keep Devika away from me and I'll handle the other girl."

"As ready as I am for an battle. Austin I think I can handle but I'm not sure about Kyra. I don't think I've interacted with her much. I think if I can make ice we should be alright. Can you keep yourself from being frozen?"

"We're fighting Kat and Kalinda actually. And I know little about Kat. Kalinda does stuff with emotions. She also has shadow manipulation powers if the files I read on her are correct. I love how Batman is so paranoid about hackers that he keeps all files on paper." Flood explained as quietly as he could to Nicholas. Flood looked over at Kalinda as she called him. "Oh hell yeah!" He jumped over his desk as he rushed to the sparring area. "Come on Nicholas, you're support."

"Damn well i hope my formula will work on these two..." Nicholas muttered under his breath walking behind him but took a quick look to Devika waving his hand to her goodbye."The this should be a interesting fight...wouldn't you say Flood...But if we fight smart then we can win this idiotic tournament..." He added with a sigh pulling out a small coin.

Kijani smiled faintly as Connor brushed by, before wondering about what Kaiden was talking about. "You say empowerment, but you're going to have to be more specific. There's lots of power to go around, especially here. What kind of power are you talking about? Are you saying that you're pulling their superpowers from them, like Mimic?" That would be awesome, actually. "Are you taking thoughts from their head, or predicting their movements?" She frowned, twisting a dreadlock around her finger. Then, seemingly making a choice, she rubbed her eyes carefully. "Here. Look at me." She stared into his eyes, making sure she wasn't glaring. "What do you feel?"

Kyra looked over at Austin with a smile. "Looks like we're together in this one instead of against.." she laughed softly.

Kaiden thought hard at Kijani's response. She was right, he needed to know more about what he could do if he were to even try using this. It was hard to explain but he felt he could persuade people. When he stared in to their eyes it felt as if they were placing, unwillingly, trust in Kaiden. This was just a feeling though and he couldn't just guess it would work. He watched as Kijani placed herself in front of him and locked eyes with him.

He looked in to her eyes, focusing not on a specific point of them but rather all around, taking in the size, the color, the small movements he could see. His vision was sharp and he could focus in on all the small nuances that made up her eye as a whole. The din of the room prepping for sparring faded in to the background of his focus as he stared intently at Kijani. He felt the pull of control, an essence that seemed to waft from Kijani's body towards him, soaking through his pores. He was definitely taking something from her but he didn't know what. Kijani would feel a sensation of calm and relaxation paired with the urge to listen to Kaiden, as if he had something important to say that could change her life. It was an inviting pull, something that would make her feel at ease not afraid. Kaiden kept his eyes on her, taking a step backwards, just to steady himself.

(*grins* You don't know Kijani...)

Kijani stared at Kaidan, barely blinking. She felt odd... She didn't know him, but she wanted to trust him. He wouldn't hurt her, would he? His eyes were so nice...

Her instinct reasserted itself hard, and Kijani shut her eyes, flinching as if she'd had sand thrown in them. Hissing a sharp swear word, she gritted her teeth and dug her nails into her desk. Of all the powers, she had to be paired with the one guy who had some kind of mind control... Ugh. It was going to be Anthony all over again, wasn't it? She wasn't having it.

"That... that was interesting. Very... well, there's something, definitely." She didn't want to give him the express knowledge that he could have any level of control over her. "I say you try out some of the fine control courses. They teach the students with any kind of kinesis to hone their powers. Instead of just throwing boulders, you learn how to pick up pebbles one by one. It might help you focus whatever that was." She rubbed a spot between her eyebrows. "Also, never do that again to me, please."

She didn't realize she was leaving marks in the desk. "I think we need to run a distraction play. You get their attention and coax the attack, you teleport out of the way, and I come up from behind and strike the blows. We do that as many times as we need to... that way you can do what you know. I notice you didn't mention any kind of fighting skill. You might wanna get on that. Even if you never use it, having the dedication and attention span to even learn to fight well is a good enough thing to learn."

"That's the spirit." She said as she stood up. Turning to the pair they were going to be facing she looked them over. Flood she was familiar with though this Nicholas was a stranger to her. "Suppose if we're to fight it's only right I introduce myself; I'm Kat." She flashed a charming smile before heading to one of the fighting rooms. "So, are we going to do this with weapons," she asked, her elaborate spear appearing in her hands, "or without?"

"Without. Nicholas isn't a skilled fighter, so I don't want him getting killed." Flood explained as he showed some compassion. "I might slice his limbs off while we're fighting if we do use weapons." And then the compassion was gone. "Everyone ready?" He asked as he took out a spare bullet. "We'll start when the bullet hits the ground." He threw the bullet in the air and waited for it to fall. As soon as it hit the ground he ran towards Kat and began his attack.

Kalinda snorted, and held up an arm as Flood aimed towards Kat "I don't need weapons" she said with amusement, and pushed Flood back with her telekenisis, not quite enough to send him flying, but enough to push him back away from them, while watching Nicholas. She slowly dropped her blocks, and took her gloves off. She took in emotions inside of her, and for a minute she shook, before getting under control, then she slipped into the shadows. "I have your back" she said to Kat.

Nicholas sighed quickly putting on his mask and gloves walking around them studying their movements,That was when he stepped in the circle of the fight giving Kat a kick to her shin.

Flood smiled when he saw Kalinda take off her gloves. He reached for his sleeves and tore them off showing a lot more skin. He then ran towards Kat and jumping over her and Nicholas. He began attacking with devastating combos of kicks and punches in an attempt to knock her down.

It was a way of holding them, and as she had seen Flood take off his sleeves, knew that he would use her own powers against her.

"Of course." Katherin agreed. She would never leave her friend to fend for herself if she could help. While she wasn't much of a battler she would do what she could.

She shrugged and the spear faded from view as they took their positions. Watching silently as the bullet fell to the ground, Kat immediately looked to Flood. Could be a risk but given what she had seen of him so far he seemed most likely to attack first, and he proved her right. However before she could act he was pushed back. She smiled at Kalinda's words. "And I shall have yours, providing I don't fall too soon." She smirked though her attention was quickly drawn back to the fight upon feeling a pain in her shin.

She fell to her knee but didn't pause, as she grabbed Nicholas' ankle and pulled it away from him. Seeing Flood approaching Kat had no time to spend worrying as to the impact of that as she quickly stood and began to defend and return the attacks. Her fighting style did not reflect her strength, instead favouring sweeping, swirling moves with agility and grace. Of course not all her hits stuck, but neither did his. She managed to capture his arm at one point, and pinning it backwards spun and tried to elbow his back.

Flood saw the shadows reaching as he was pushed away and smiled. He knew that he made a good decision.

*5 minutes earlier*
"Alright, I'm going to need flashbangs, lots and lots of flashbangs." Flood muttered to himself as he grabbed flashbangs from his backpack and stuffed them in his pockets.

*Present time*
"Eat this!" He yelled as he pulled out a flashbang and activated it. He covered his eyes and threw it in the air for it to detonate.

"Alright" Kalinda said with amusement, "As long as you eat the wall, I have no problem" She poured emotions into her next attack, making it stronger, even as the shadows disappeared, and pushed outwards against Flood. She didn't need to see to know where he was. It was simply a matter of using his emotions. She didn't stop moving, following Flood, she steadied herself, and launched herself at him, placing her hands on his bare arms, she poured all the emotions she had inside her out. SHe didn't need to touch someone to do it, but it was a hell of a lot stronger when she did.

Guilt. Fear. Uncertainty. Anger. Happiness. Peace. Rage. Every emotion she had ever experienced, she poured out of her, and into Flood.
