Well, that was mainly the 3D bit. Just make a 2D thingy, so I don't have to spend two full days trying to use Paint.

Well, the Milky Way does only have a height of twelve lightyears. Relative to its width it basically is flat.

Sure, I suppose I can make a flat map. But I need to know where everyone is first.

An exact coordinate location would be nice. Treat Sagittarius A* as 0, 0.

EDIT: And I suppose each coordinate point is a full lightyear.

The galaxy is approximately 80,000 lightyears in diameter, so the edges would be:

-80, 80
0, -80
-80, -80
-80, 0
80, -80
80, 0
80, 80
0, 80

Which doesn't really fit the circular shape of the galaxy, so the corners should be considered to extend out into dark space.

Draconian coordinates would be about 13,9, I suppose.

I can't understand any of this without it being on a diagram/image. Terminal, I expect it to be somewhere similar to a rectangle for Known Space, and this isn't the milky way. That's how I imagine it anyway. AGR direct center, and I might also be centered (not next to AGR but maybe adjacent with decent distance)

Direct center is impossible no matter what I am afraid. The conditions at 0, 0 are...faintly inimical.

Also, if this isn't the Milky Way I am going to need the dimensions of our host galaxy in order to render the map. I'll go ahead and presume and equal height though, since there seems to be a desire to avoid third dimensional mapping.

@Terminal Just speak dumb english from now on to me, plz.

We are not looking at the sun as the center. Look at our galaxy as a circle, only 1/4, a corner is known space/discovered.

I understand your issues in realism and Scientific understanding, but this does not require deep thought, we aren't growing a planet in the real, physical world. This roleplay was made to be simple so everyone was on equal and balanced terms so nearly anyone and everyone can understand it. Make it simple, not complicated.

@Terminal Plz make simple. I honestly lost this conversation after the second time you said lightyear and I don't understand why such a system is even need with cords and such. I have a hard enough time getting my cords straight in Minecraft, don't even try the entire flipping galaxy @_@

Right, back with the sheet-in-progress. Delayed on throwing this up while debating whether I should fill it out more now to use elsewhere later, but really, that'd just be a matter of having a little more to show for it presently and does not affect the future implementation of the concept, as it would have to be rewritten anyways. As greywolf is going national, this is just a posthumous lookover of what has been assembled so far, rather than an actual submission. I can always recycle the concept later, but I'd rather not have any immediate waste if I can help it, so I thought I'd post it for the entertainment of those others passively involved in its conception.

Species and technological descriptions have been rendered in the form of secondary-canonical (if they were implemented in the first place) vignette-monologues featuring plausible background individuals from other states, or in the species block, Cap'ns conceptual PETRA corporation. This, hopefully, not being a grievous sin, being done unasked, with the vignette itself being intended as the proposition for implementation, being rewritten in the event of a thumbs-down from the player in question. Wanted to properly root things into the game world rather than simply noting what things are where, though being monologues in the form of books, reports and raw text audio transcripts they unfortunately lean very heavily into 'tell' rather than 'show,' so the species description vignette rather devoured any more detailed physiological description with a majority of evolutionary history and a brief admission of horror and admiration of the species by the PETRA researcher in question, weaponry was addressed by a Rissan in a fashion halfway between General Buck Turgidson's jingoist lobbyings and a middle 20th century U.S. Army technical training video, shielding by a Celestian military researcher, reverse-engineer and realpolitiker, and armor by an employee of one of the many corporations making up the Enlil Consortium lambasting the equally brilliant and utterly backwards aspects of Claw material sciences, amongst other commentations.

I feel they could be much better with a bit of reediting, very mediocre overall, very lazy to not have had some back-and-forth or captioned audio events, but I'll post them as-is for now. Mostly it was just a way to tie things together and make it a little more than a totally world-disconnected technical description, which would have probably been added later anyways for individual items. The joints and contacts of my mental engine, as far as writing, have very thoroughly rusted, and it'll take time to oil them again, nevermind that they were of a roughly worked build quality to begin with. The rest is, fitting to being a mothballed work-in-progress, pretty obviously unfinished. Bonus tech in particular never got a vignette and was left with the rough working description. In any case, I may or may not assemble a corporate/organization sheet. I certainly have a backup concept for it and one that would fit the game world and with PETRA, but Cap'n is noncommittal beyond concepting so far, so I might abstain. The backup would be of a multinational band of former Celestian merchantmen, Draconian slavers and assorted others turned pirate-anarchists, with a mind to shanghai ship and crew wholesale and eventually form a petty republic on some virgin world. Even has a little hinting shout-out in one of the vignettes. Hope this noncanon collection of brainfarts is enjoyable, in the meantime. Bit of a surplus of both lizards and militarists on show anyways, so it's no great loss if you ask me.

@Senor Herp, I really like and appreciate how you took the time to weave the description of your technology from the viewpoints of the other factions. I enjoyed reading the armor section so much that I'm even going to add Schildcorp Durasteel as a contract corporation.

On that note, since you've already sort of hinted at it I suppose we should discuss the possibility of Fourth Staff infiltrators amongst your populace. Due to your use of a caste system and an integrated military command, I doubt the Fourth Staff's network could be all that extensive since it would be difficult for them to ply their particular trade using the indigenous natives. Most operatives would basically be alien species - traders, goodwill envoys, that sort of thing. There might be a rare few individuals who have set up or joined your equivalent of a local black market.

In terms of objectives, there would be some nominal interest in Black Iron/Robertite - not a great deal, since it does not appear to be a resource that can be cornered in the market and there are other more promising areas of investigation. Particularly, they'd be more interested in your plasma-state matter-projection via graser weaponry. They transmit lots of power between places via beam, but their relatively unsophisticated weapons technology reflects an inefficient design and methodology behind power transfer. There's been a lot of market push to develop near-lightspeed emitters that project converted power both in the form of photons/neutrons and electromagnetic radiation as well as various forms of elemental plasma. A currently in-development power transceiver functions as a 'flash-fusion & fabrication screen' that acts as a rectenna and also uses ablative contact with plasma in conjunction with the free neutron stream to sustain a continuous fusion reaction that can then be converted by the underlying screen directly into electrical power with much higher efficiency (due to pressure exerted on the screen by the incoming beam), and results in a higher power-by-volume figure in regards to beam makeup.

Of course, they're having trouble with lots of bits and pieces of that design. Someone somewhere is probably convinced that they can lift a few pieces of tech or information from you that might help.

...And if that can also be used to develop better weapons, hey. Bonus.

Been following this RPG just for fun. Could not help but notice your problem with the map.

Why not just go with a star cluster rather than the entire galaxy? Say, sixty systems indicated by white dots scattered around on a black background. Each system has a number so you just post the map, everybody picks which number system they want to start in and you are good to go.
