Well that is how these games work, I hold the parent character. Although your sheet doesn't actually specify Harley's origins, you have a sample post in your history section.

@FantasyChic I think I said that you ought to explain what Harley had been up to since she became Harley and omit what had happened before it given we had no Joker and needed to work around that. Not exactly the same as not filling in the history section at all.

Sorry about posting in a thread in which I am not involved. I would throw my hat in to the ring with an application, but I don't think I have the time to commit to this game while keeping the sister games (All-Star Marvel and Create-A-Hero - 1 and 2 years old now ) going strong. I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.

First of all, @Morden Man, it is definitely none of my business on how you run this game. I just wanted to point out one different between the current All-Star Marvel/Create-A-Hero RPG and the other sister games that have been fortunate enough to last as long as these two previous games. In the former, with only a few exceptions, we usually started by focusing on one character and then added more once we got the game rolling (for instance, in ASM, I started with Spider-Man, then I added Hawkeye, then finally Ms. Marvel). However, in the latter, I have noticed a trend of people applying for 2-3 characters at the very beginning of the game. While I am not at all claiming that this was the reason that made those other games to "die" while the All-Star Marvel and Create-A-Hero games are still going strong, but I did just wanted to put out what I saw.

And please don't take this personally. I would love to see this game thrive and what I said above might not turn out true for this game. But as a fellow GM of a similar game, I just wanted to share my thoughts on this trend that I have seen over the past two or so years since being in these types of games. Also, it is kind of too late now to apply any changes, but just for future reference. :)

<Snipped quote>

This is the question. Honestly, I prefer how I did it with White Tiger/Iron Fist and Iron Man/Captain America in my previous game. Long collabs can soak up too much time and I've seen them kill games with their superfluous content. It'd be best to play off each other even if the posts end up being short or result in "flooding" the IC.

I think the pitfall for some collaborative posts is that people think that they have to get the entire interaction into one post. What they should be doing is writing out "regular sized" posts instead of these colossal walls of texts. If people would take that approach (i.e. try writing a "regular" post and breaking up the interaction into multiple posts), then I think that these collaborations can be more successful.

I did as you instructed, did I not? I was only pulling his leg, I don't care how it comes about she is where she is.

However, I do think some should be more lenient to allow for other characters to come in. I mean, given the amount of heroes there are, if we get more people, they may want to play a hero that can be connected to others. Like, if I wanted to play Enchantress next (btw, thinking about it) Thor mentions her in his bio, do I need to clear it with him to play that character?

Not saying it is happening, I only just got here after all, but I think it helps with your qualifications of a One Universe setting if there can be some connections at the beginning.

Man, I will have to delay my post until tomorrow.

I hope that I can still be able to post on page one by tomorrow.

Chiming in with my opinion, but given Batman is only like his second year I have huge problems with Harley being about; even more than I do with Poison Ivy. This is a "One Universe" game not an "Ultimate" game, so shouldn't most characters go by the "don't reinvent the character and ultimize them; only minor changes, not major ones." rule?

do I need to clear it with him to play that character?

It's kind of what the games ask with legacy characters: to make sure you can work something out with the parent character's player so to not step on too many toes.

@Dedonus Thanks for the advice, I'll bear it in mind going forward. Hopefully this lasts as long as ASM/CAH.

@FantasyChic Trust me, I'm trying to be lenient here. Harley is effectively Joker's Robin. She has little to no supporting cast of her own. Yet I've done what I can to afford you the ability to play the character of your choosing despite that. All I'm asking is that you give some account of what Harley has been doing since becoming Harley Quinn. You don't even have to explain how she became Harley Quinn. You just need to give us some idea what she's done since then that doesn't contradict what a "parent character" (Batman in this scenario) has in mind. I don't think that's too much to ask, at all.

OH! I'm sitting here thinking I need to explain what she's been up to and I'm like "I did that >.> It may be a sample post, but I thought I clearly did that" not thinking you meant about her before she became Harley Quinn. I gotcha now.

It does make sense which is why I'm totally cool with it. Plus it fills the Robin slot and allows me not to have to deal with any other Batbrats since it essentially Batblocks all their origin stories haha.

or Spoiler being around before said. But these are of course just my opinions and I have no say on any of these things. I can respect the direction my fellow writers want to take things even if I disagree with them conceptually! I know you, Bounce, etc. will pull things off.
