Avatar change comes from admins, its random if they take time to do it (out of 2000 people...), but they're adding the feature soon so you can be whatever. And no there shouldnt be a problem with uploading... if you got to the page where you upload sigs, just put the picture in there along with BBcode...maybe its worth it to make sure it's not too big?

You can't upload images to the forum, yet. You need to upload it somewhere else like http://imgur.com/ and then use bbcode to put the image URL in your sig.

If you figure out how to upload the image to imgur.com but can't figure it out from there, post the link that imgur.com gives you and I'll help you out.

Vaguely off the original topic, Mahz—is there some kind of code in place to reduce image dimensions in the signature if over a certain threshold? My signature was at the dimension limit instated by the rules on the previous version of the website, but it seems to have shrunk here to about 25% of its original size.

Yes, there is. Images are automatically resized to a maximum height of 200px in signatures.

No wonder everything looks way weird. Dammit, Mahz, you're a cockblock.

It was necessary after finding myself asking questions like "wait, how did I end up in a desktop wallpaper gallery?" while browsing the guild.

I haven't done it yet, but max sig width would be the max width of the container.

In other words, a sig is scaled so that it's never taller than 200px or never wider than the post, whichever comes first.

Its actually a nice feature. it even scales pictures loaded through a PHP script. (we've got 40-something sig images on a random rotator, and it scales every one of them)

Okay, thanks. Good to have moderation there because stretching pages is a pain.
