Even though you’ve most likely spent your entire life here, I’d like to reintroduce you to the only home most of you have ever known: Ishida Point. Plentiful crops, a scenic river with easily cleaned water, and the tallest walls you’ve ever laid your eyes on. Paradise on Earth, some would say. Established by Keith Ishida about 80 years ago, this place has grown from a miserable settlement struggling to survive to a bonafide stronghold, a testament, standing tall, to Humanity’s resilience and adaptability. Only issue is, it’s the only one of it’s kind. For all we know, Ishida Point could be the last place with living, healthy humans left on Earth. That’s why you, my friend, have been given the “honor” of being sent out on the third of the “Ishida Expeditions.” These suicide missions, thought up by the bigwigs in the government, if you can call it that, are meant to be missions of goodwill, to try and see if there really is anyone else left besides us. Most of us have been locked safely behind these walls for so long that we don’t know what’s even out there, and few have returned to tell us the details.

We, the lucky ones chosen (more like drafted) for these expeditions, know the real reason these missions were started.

Recently, in the last decade or two, what was simply a council of leaders brought together to make decisions, has grown into a full blown government, and with that growth, came division. Before, there were no “sides”, simply those who led us, and those who advised them, but now, “parties” have sprouted up. The two main ones are easy to remember, the “Purists” and the “Curists.” Before these parties were established, the leaders were really a mixture of both, some wanting to take stern measures to thin out the population of the dead outside the walls, and those willing to capture and do tests on the dead, finding out what they could about the disease that made them the way there were.

Slowly but surely, disagreements began to rear their heads. Those interested in attempting to create some sort of vaccine or even a cure argued that taking violent measures against the dead was hurting not only the chance perhaps being able to bring some of the dead back to the world of the living, but perhaps bringing the world back to the way it was. Those interested in eradicating the threat insisted that too much time and resources were being wasted on failed or fruitless studies, and the act of capturing the dead was too risky and put too many lives on the line to be worth it.

I think you can see where this is going.

Political dissidence in a world where we just recently stopped killing people over simple disagreements is a dangerous thing. Everyone is armed, everyone has killed, and they aren’t scared to do it again. What better way than to get rid of any dissidents, than to just send them away to their deaths, making it out to be some “grand cause”?

“Well, what’s stopping those people who got drafted from staging a coup?”

Well, not only does it help that this government of ours is growing more totalitarian as it ages, giving us the North Korean treatment, (do what we say or your family dies), but the government has guns, too, and a coup could end up destroying one of the last known bastions of Humanity left in the world, which, understandably, doesn’t sound like the best idea, now does it.

So, we have a choice to make: Go out into the New World and try to stake our own claim, not knowing if we'll ever be able to see the family and friends we leave behind again, or do we stand on our own, refusing to leave, and starting a war that could be Humanity’s last?

- - -

Alright, I know this is sparse, I know it’s rough and short on details, but I needed to write my idea out to be able to see if it’s worth expanding on, so I’d like to see how many of you are interested!

I already have a few other ideas for the zombies, the various factions of Ishida’s point, and I already have the endgame in mind, if it even comes to that. If you think that you could contribute more ideas or help manage the RP or things of that nature, I could always use a Co-Gm, as my work hours and life are a little unpredictable, and aren’t always very conducive to roleplay. It’s been about a month or two since I last roleplayed, so hopefully I can manage to see this through to the end, but yeah! That’s it. If you’re interested, please say so, and if you have any questions or ideas, PLEASE don’t hesitate to post here or message me!

Thanks for reading!

This is, by far one of the best settings for a zombie apocalypse I have seen. You can most definitely count me interested in this!

However, I have a question. For how long has Ishida Point been sealed in itself? Because if it has been for more than few generations, then the population would eventually consider the current government the best option since not only can they fail to compare it to any other government, but it is what they have known their entire lives.

And a question, could we maybe play as someone who came from the outside and settled inside Ishida Point, but then was drafted to be sent back out there? I imagine it would provide a lot of conflict since said character would already know the situation on the outside.

Interesting indeed.

A long long time ago took part in something similar, a post apocalyptic zombie world with only a few very few settlements dotted around that each depend upon each other for various supplies - the RP focused mostly on the people and the government, different factions that kinda thing.

I'll probably take part, but I have but one question....
What kinda zombie lore do you like? What would you be going with?

Shamblers? Fast neo-zombs? Rage virus style? Resident evil mutating nasty zombies? I'm a fan of the Max Brooks 'purist' style of zombies... the solanum virus!(What I'd consider classic zombs) Anyway... I'll just leave this here.

@Claw2k11 Well, by sealed I would assume you mean, like, completely sealed which it hasn't really been. As I wrote above, Ishida's Point has been around for about 80 years, the walls being built I work say roughly 20 years after establishment. The new government, though, has only really been a thing for a few decades, so I would say 20 years or less, so there would be plenty of people that know what it was like before the government began trying to silence dissidence and all that good stuff. So I'm thinking people would still find it in themselves not to accept being pushed around and silenced. Also, yes you could play type of character, so long as they were alone and just struggling before, not coming from any other major settlement. Like nomads.

@Tsar Gatto as for the zombies, I was thinking of something along the lines of the manga "I Am A Hero". I would link but I'm at work and almost off break. Basically, all sorts of shamblers or creepy crawlers, all who still manage to mutter coherent words and follow a similar schedule to when they were alive (going out during the day, finding shelter during the night). That sound good? I'll elab later

Loving the sound of the setting.

Will there be room at the beginning for some intrigue to go on? Will we start off before/during the "expedition," or will we have time to flesh out our morals and the relationships that we'll be leaving behind? What kind of depth are you looking for in the group; will they mostly be a motley crew with similar ideals--and thus similar reasons to be sent on the expedition--or is there a chance that one of us may perhaps attempt to expedite the group's fate and report back to their masters in the government?

Looking forward to see where it goes.

@Dulcet Thank you! And yes, I intended for there to be a little of time before the expedition began for a little intrigue, character building, things of that nature. It's still an idea, but if the characters are right or certain things happen, it will also be a question of whether the expedition ever sets out in the first place.

The government, while becoming slg increasingly divided and such, still, however, isn't ruled by any one specific party, and as such, the group formed to choose the unlucky draftees is bipartisan, meaning they will most likely choose to send the loudest or most influential voices of their opponents. This means, at least in my mind, that the draftees could be made up of some of the most vocal and divisive people of each respective faction, whether that be solely the Purists and Curists, or any others I choose to introduce.

I think I'll rephrase it so that it seems less like they announced the expedition solely for flushing out opponents, and more that it's a normal thing, but this time they choose to use it for a different purpose.

@Claw2k11 Also an addition to before, if you play an outsider character, they would probably be fairly well known, since outsiders are a rarity. So I don't want everyone to be a mysterious outsider with a dark past or some shit, but those few are going to be known by quite a few people.

I'm pretty intrigued by the tidbits you've let slip on the zombies, care to elaborate? I often find myself at odds with most zombie apocalypse RPs due to the simple fact that the infected are so rarely an effective threat.

@ParaffinWell, to explain the enigma that is the "ZQN" of I Am A Hero would be rather difficult, as they are pretty, well, enigmatic, but as for what it means for my zombies, it's roughly this.

There is no one single type of zombie. It is a horrifying mixture of zombies that shamble and shuffle, zombies that crawl with only their arms, zombies that sprint full speed, running and jumping off walls, and those who are quadrupedal, crawling on their feet and hands like something out of a horror movie. They manage to mutter words or phrases, usually seemingly ones that they used a lot in their life, such as a zombie merchant saying "Buyyyyyy one get one freeeeee..." for a simple example. They seem to follow a schedule roughly similar to that of which they were alive, and act according to their memories.

By acting according to their memories, I mean that they tend not to walk on any highway or overpasses, since most people don't just walk on in the middle of a highway normally. When it is daytime, they will go out and about, shambling along the streets and sidewalks, and once they sun goes down, they will find some house to take shelter in.

There are quite a few things they do in the manga that I don't want in this RP. For example, some special zombies are able to communicate and direct the hordes, and if they are decapitated, their head can be placed on another body for them to live again. There is a whole slew of other things to these zombies that makes they really unique and, frankly, fucking awesome, but it would take the better part of the night to really get in depth with it and explain them fully.

Read the manga, trust me. It's reallyfuckinggood.

Woah, the setting in this is pretty darn good! Are you still accepting people @firecracker_?
Also, to what degree of activity would you require for me to enter this RP?

My working hours are pretty unstable and would probably be able to make only 1-2 posts per week >.<

I do like the sounds of everything here very much. But just to let you know my plate is rather fuller than expected at the moment so probably won't be able to commit to joining. Of course if this changes this will be my first call.

Just thought I'd let you know.

@Celsius Aw jeez sorry, I've been busy.

Yes. I'm still accepting! I plan on working on the OOC today or tomorrow! And really, it all depends on how fast the group goes, but 1-2 posts a week sounds like a decent speed. I haven't been in many Adv. RP's with a rate much faster than that, but that's just me.

Welcome aboard!

@Claw2k11 Thanks for trying to get my attention buy I neglected checking this for a bit lol.

I'm down for this, quite a fresh take on the zombie scene. Have you thought about animals play out in all of this? I'm planning to submit a sniper style character, recon, stealth, all that jazz, and perhaps have a well trained pup if permitted. (By pup I mean dog).

@BrithwyrYes.

@Synthesis I hadn't really thought much of the animals, but that doesn't sound so bad. Though, for you to build the type of character you want, type of dog and all, there is one thing. For a character to really hone skills of that set and have a well trained animal for the dog, they'd have to play a guard/soldier type character, OR, they have to be an outsider. Either one is fine, but I was just thinking you wouldn't really be able to pull something like that off spending all your time inside the walls, you catch my drift? Just a suggestion.
