@Sigma You can even have it where, since Gaian miners have all served in the military, usually have weapons somewhere close by, and have defense systems in the asteroid colonies, the Dalthu have more casualties than they expected, and earn a special hatred towards Gaia. This way, your attack on the colony can become a sort of Gaian Alamo, while the Dalthu have a reason to start moving towards the Human Core.

@Ekreture Should be good fun :) A heroic last stand for the Gaian Colonists, giving the Dathu one hell of a bloody nose in the end.

I wonder if the Minotaur Armada should sent a representative too? A subhuman one at that?

Since it's technically a good ideal to have peace between various human factions.

Yup. You should join too. We encouraged players to join the peace conference or the exhibition thing on the same planet. When the conference takes place, players will all have the same plotline afterwards which is a good thing.

@NecroKnight

Likely when everyone involved in the Peace Conference has sent their delegations, and when the host officially begins the conference.

So, I think a month hiatus did the trick. And all my RP bros are here. That said, if there is still room, I'd like to join.

@Serpentine88Serp,

Seeing as you're the Human big kahuna I figured I should go over this with you.

Essentially my nation (a then kingdom) was supposed to have been human aligned until mass discontent and protest led to a military coup that established a 'Republic' and pulled out of all conflicts. Would your government have meddled in the coup or denounced the junta for pulling support from other human factions?

Finally updated the military section as concerns the fleet. By the bye, do you people suppose the Terran-core nations would be aware of the Conglomerate's existence at all as of the current events' beginning? After all, it has mostly remained at the galactic periphery until now, probably only carrying out the occasional raid on the fringes of "civilised" space, and it might have sworn what allies it has to secrecy in preparation for a thunderous entrance. Having its envoys abruptly appear over Earth as an unknown and unexpected presence while the negotiations are underway would certainly make for an interesting impression (the "alien surprise" never gets old, does it?)...

@Malphaestus

If not necessarily immediately pleasant, it might at least prove quite instructive. This leads me to wonder - do the Neo-Zakaabites actually regard themselves as human, and could they appear as such to an external observer?

Say, do any of you guys want to be the target of a failed Enlightened invasion 20 or 30 years before the start of the game?

I am intrigued. Also what ARE the Enlightened teachings and whatnot?

Part of my backstory is that we've just got out of the "Great Reorganization", a period of wide reforms that came after we became too overextended. This failed invasion would be one of the consequences of this overextension. The thing that would finally force the State to realize they had to stop, absorb their conquests and rebuild before thinking of further conquests

As for the teachings:

The souls of every living thing are parts of the same ultimate entity existing in a dimension/state/universe beyond our comprehension. The material world is an illusion that traps these souls into an endless cycle of death and rebirth. The Enlightened State wishes to help the Galaxy reach Enlightened and escape the cycle by causing oppression and suffering because that is the best way to achieve an Enlightened state of mind.

Feel free to throw a bunch of pseudo-Buddhist stuff around (along with other religions), mix with Fascism, some stuff about how families and individuality are bad alongside death worship and you got the State

Essentially its their justification for being a totalitarian regime. "It's not that we're power hungry assholes, we just want to help. For real, now go back to sleeping on the cold floor and be glad your life sucks"

And somehow when I first envisioned them, they were supposed to be Space Communazis.
