All fights, no matter the power tier, no matter the format or venue, ranked or unranked, tournament or funsies, go the same way. Nine out of ten fights are total moose piss that make you wonder why you still waste your life on this damn game. That tenth fight is the perfect-storm-of-awesome reminder you need to keep going at it.

Frustration makes many a player do many a silly thing. We've all been there. Don't sweat it too hard, Ev. Just remember to keep your mask on and suplex harder in the future.

Why did you hide your Arena stats?? You were on top!

A few factors, mostly I became disillusioned with the ranking system because there were no appropriate checks and balances in place, it was inconsistent, and therefore meaningless.

If it were generally 9 out of 10 fights, I'd start to think the problem was myself, or yourself, but I do agree that the amount of fights you end up disliking can sometimes stray into the majority, for me personally I thoroughly enjoy about 50% of my fights, though generally I've preferred fights that weren't ranked or in tournament more frequently.

Fair enough. I had a suspicion of something along those lines.

The only reason I still even occasionally dabble in the Arena is becausenof the fight that drew me in, my white whale that I have never been able to find again - so it's my mission to participate in a fight that gave me the same feeling. Oh and some of the people I've met. Including Melon there, and Xavier, whom I've known since before Guild

I haven't had that many fights on here. Maybe...3? And about one of them I heard Devil, Pollen, and some others I can't remember were talking smack behind my back. Which I will address here and now, since it seemed to be an issue. I was waiting for Doc Doctor to reply to me but he hasn't got back to me. Yes, in the fight between my character Sky and Doc's character Gonad there was a portion of the fight I did copy and paste something from the previous post. It was done out of frustration and one of the only times I have done so without someone deliberately asking for it, it's not something I usually do. It was a point in the fight where the fight itself was going no where, we were just reiterating ourselves over and over, and the frustration got to me. I only did it once and afterward I realized I was trying to be too complicated with my approach and things went smoother after that. Truth be told I didn't like how that fight ended.
(Quick Edit: It was also almost a year ago, I'd have to go back and reread to see what I did exactly. But it's not something I do all the time. As you'll see in the other two fights.)

Just, in the future guys, if you have a problem with me come to be about it so that I can address it in a collected and polite manner. Please.

Here are the fights:
http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/93417-the-memory-remains-sky-dancer-vs-gonad/ic?page=2#post-3661951
http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/91876-mt-r2-enki-vs-everett/ic#post-3396947
http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/91547-majesty-tournament-r1-ki-vs-everett/ic

I won the first one, but like previously mentioned I didn't like the victory. The second one stopped because the tournament fell apart and the third one my opponent forfeit.

I thought I'd responded to your PM. Perhaps I wrote a response but forgot to send it.

Nobody should be smack talking out of earshot, not unless it's out of good humor or something you'd have no problem with telling to the subject's face. Everett is dandy and reasonable, so sayeth I.

And aye, our match was rather silly. I could tell you weren't having fun. There's no point in trudging through stiff matches unless it's to settle a score.

I don't think there was any problem with you at all- we were just talking about some of the weird and/or hilarious shit that happened in various fights, and that copy/paste thing came up. Which, combined with the fight taking place on a bouncy castle of all things, you have to admit was pretty freaking funny. Everyone here's likely had ridiculous stuff come up in our past battles, though, so I doubt anyone would hold that against you.

That implies it was behind your back. That assumes I wouldn't say to you or assume you can't get on discord and read it yourself. This also assumes I didn't anticipating people copying and pasting a log (pastebin logs are common in Zandronun/Doom). You are under the assumption you are the only person we have talked shit about. This also implies the people in the discord weren't shit talked to as well.

What exactly should I be saying to you on the forums when I address you? You ask and I answer.

How's about we avoid shit talk altogether if we could, Moe? It's not terribly reassuring when a large event's chief administrator indulges in heavy mudslinging against a subset of that event's participants. Some good-natured smack is assumed and even enjoyable for any combat tournament - we're all of us egos and we like to swagga, some amount of Billy Bigdicking is expected whenever you get more'n a couple of us in one place - but the event administrator for a large tournament like this should strive to put forth a more friendly and approachable front, if possible.

I've seen the logs of the conversation in question here, and they weren't terribly friendly or approachable. Misunderstandings happen, but it's still nice to try and minimize them or smooth them over. Neither Everett nor Doc are sour with the other over the fight in question, and really - is it anyone else's business, in the end?

Let's try and keep it classy here, folks. Clean masks for everybody - nobody likes a dirty wrestler.

I'm aware some of you might be more sensitive than others, but, the Discord is full of intermittent shit talking, we're not going out of our way to make anybody feel deliberately antagonized, if you have an issue with something that's been said than by all means, come into the discord & voice your concerns, I think you'll find that everybody involved has had a positive, welcoming experience.

On the topic of various trash talk; to be fair, its typically to be expected prior to a competition. Especially when you have this many folks gathering together from all manner of different communities.

Personally, I say take it in stride and or return the favor. Regardless, actions speak louder than words.

The trash talk isn't exactly targeting some people more than others. We all make fun of each other. Even Mobius gets made fun of.

People are going to laugh if they find something funny, whether it be a ridiculously stacked profile, copy-pasting actions in a fight, eating an apple for several turns, rushing recklessly into a barrier, getting yourself killed by spending 12 seconds introducing yourself, or making a ruling by using a couple of toys. These are all real examples from different people. It doesn't matter who the person is- if you do something funny, silly, or dumb, people will talk about it.

I wouldn't call it shit talk if it's not meant to be putting anybody down.

Two things:

A. If I've not heard anything in regards to 'character acceptance' or 'judging' may I assume Ultron is just good to go on the starting date this all starts?

B. Looking forward to the starting date, and looking forward to the fights and people met in the process. Lets all give each other hell and punch some faces.

Profile grading is an ongoing process; simply submitting a profile does not mean that said profile is accepted. The people running the event will let you know when your profile has been graded and whether or not it's accepted or in need of revisions. If you haven't heard anything, that means that they haven't graded your profile yet, more likely than not.

@Doc Doctor

Thank ya, Doc. Maybe one of these days after the tournament we can have another go at each other, then again we might come up against one another in the tournament itself. Probably not against Gonad though, preferably. I might try to make an attempt at being more active on here.

@Drifting Pollen

My time on the net, or at least the span of time I'm on, puts me on different schedules with most people and I normally don't see them on at 7am EST. So I figured the forum was a better means of addressing the situation. And the bouncy castle was completely unexpected. When I agreed to let Doc post first it was the absolute last thing that I would have figured would be a fighting ring. But it was interesting.

@Devil

I will admit that you had no way of knowing my schedule. Essentially in order to see what you were saying in the Discord I would have had to scroll up through a lot of messages, which would more than likely prevent me from seeing it at all. More than likely it wasn't your intention. My schedule just puts me in an odd place when it comes to others in the RP community at large. My limited time also means I can't scroll back through a chat log that big if I want to get anything productive done. I was more addressing than attacking. Own up to what I did and then made a request.

You have to admit though, the bouncy castle was hilarious.

What's the weirdest place you've fought in an RP fight? (General question to the public. The Bouncy Castle takes the cake for me.)

For a short portion of a fight my character and Skallagrims were actually fighting on top of a giant bear, that's probably the weirdest.
