Alma, the continent of man. For hundreds of years, war has raged between three nations. While their war had raged, the ancients had returned. Beasts of yore, wielding artifacts of untold might. The three nations had managed to band together to repel the foreign beasts. While many of the ancient still exist today, they are no longer a threat to the nations that had once repelled them. The defeat of the ancients resulting in three things: the proliferation of ancient treasures that were empowered, an era of peace between the three nations, and the discovery of ancient dungeons - fortresses of magic that constantly shifted and changed. The peace had allowed for man to realize that in their years of fighting, they had neglected to explore and discover their own home.
Thus began the golden age of adventuring.
With the three nations allied, man took to both the wilds and ancient dungeons. Eventually, the number adventurers began to soar to record amounts. Lands were being pillaged for loot, highwaymen ambushed hard workers, and the seemingly infinite amount of adventurers were impossible to control. A solution was created: the Adventurer Guild. They acted as leadership for the rowdy adventurers and punished criminal activity while working to build a sustainable environment where adventurers could always find something new. They seemed to solve everything. Well, everything except for the highwaymen.
Due to Alma's size, different chapters of Adventuring Guilds fill each city. However, there is one peculiar chapter located in the capital city of Rhode. With a name that reverberates around Alma, the Iron Rose Adventurer's Guild is the most well-known guild. Mostly because of their ever-absent leader whose exploits stretch the boundaries of mankind's borders.

Ranking
Legend
Recognized by the guild and all three nations, Legends are the strongest mankind has to offer. Everyone knows of their name and exploits. Almost always given posthumously, living Legends are hard to come by. Nations and the guilds allow them to do anything they want. However, due to their power and desires, Legends are almost always absent from Alma.
There are only two living legends - The Lord of Iron - Rose and The Lord of Dawn - Alron. Rose charts unexplored islands and continents while Alron secludes himself from the world.

Hero
Given to those who have completed the Hero's Journey, Heroes are those who have graduated from the Adventuring Guild. They live freely and have free passage to anywhere. Most jobs for heroes are specialized and almost always extremely dangerous. Nations allow them to do anything they want, so long as they don't do wrong.

S-rank
The strongest adventurers in the Guild, S-ranks take the hardest missions. They deal with the things that no others can. Ancients, dragons, anything that the A-ranks can't handle. They're about as strong as grand champions. They have free access to the Ancient Marsh and most other islands.

A-rank
Veteran adventurers, A-ranks are prepared for anything. They're experienced with most things and as a result, they take difficult missions such as the subjugation of lords. They're allowed anywhere not extraordinarily dangerous. They're about as strong as grand warriors.

B-rank
Adept adventurers, B-ranks handle most of the heavy lifting. They deal with invasions, mapping out ruins, and teaching lower ranked adventurers. Their jobs usually are about dealing with hordes and exploring ancient fortresses. B-ranks have free no-questions-asked entrance into most cities, but are heavily restricted in island travel. They're about as strong as a knight.

C-rank
Experienced adventurers, C-ranked deal with most moderate jobs. They deal with the extermination of "pest races" like orcs and goblins - jobs of that sort. They have tolls to get into certain cities and aren't allowed onto islands. They're about as strong as a soldier.
D-rank
Novice adventurers are trainees. They take jobs meant for them to learn the ropes of adventuring and are usually accompanied by higher ranked adventurers. They have no special travel permissions and are about as strong as a militiaman.
E-rank
That's E for Employee. E-ranks are the support staff who make the guild work. Adventurers in name only, they deal with all of the menial tasks. They evaluate equipment, gather jobs, work bars, anything that an adventurer needs in their local guild hall.

Locations:
Rhode
Rhode is a coalition of cities, and as such, each city is independent. There is no baseline of what a Rhodian looks or acts like. This has left Rhode with a rather negative stereotype. They were once considered savage mutts, but this has since been rectified as the other nations have accepted Rhode's mosaic of culture. Rhode's western coastline is a long forest, turning into plains as it reaches into the interior. Southern Rhode consists of rocky barrens that act as a buffer from the Ancient Marsh. Eastern Rhode is a mountainous wall crossing into Sirris.
Swynport
Located near the coast, Swynport is where the Iron Rose Adventurer's Guild stakes its home. Swynport is a rich town - surprisingly without a port. This has left nearby cities very confused, as Swynport is too far from the sea to have a port. Rather, it's named after a man known as Swymport. Despite having 20,000 citizens, Swymport is considered to be safe. At least, inside of its walls. For the past ten years, Swymport had been dealing with goblins attacks. Nobody knows where the goblins come from, they just appear and attack things.
Sirris
A frigid and mountainous country, Sirris is a conservative theocracy. The church rules everything. Due to the church's focus on selflessness and charity after the war, Sirris had become a dreamland for commoners. While struggles due to religion still occur, the church does its best for the citizens.
Sirris is named after Sirris, a priestess during the ancient war. She was the greatest magician they had to offer, but when the country almost fell, Sirris sacrificed herself to protect their homeland.
Thus why they practice compassion and charity post-ancient war. The high chapel is located on the tallest mountain. Only two things are inside: Sirris' resting place and the tomb's guard. To even try to climb the mountain is forbidden.
All government policy is handled by the Magistrate.
Irithia
As a monarchy, Irithia is rough for the average person. Due to pressure from Sirris, Irithia acts decent to its commoners. They are given land and tools to farm, but are otherwise left alone. The noble circle of Irithia can be called a cesspool of sycophants and nepotists, but the king does an extraordinary job of keeping them in line. Central Irithia is an extremely fertile set of plains, but it quickly turns into a desert as the island of Morburne draws closer.
Adagari
A lush jungle filled with life, Adagari is home to beastmen. Centaurs, lizardmen, it seems like any sort of animal could make its home in Adagari. The culture is extremely tribal. Fighting is constant and the races are almost always insular from the world. Though, it is not a rare occurrence to see them on the mainland.
Morburne
The land of demons. Morburne is extremely dangerous. Open lava pits, volcanoes, rugged rocks, and dead trees litter the island. Only the strongest races can survive here. As such, very little exploration has been made on Morburne. Not even heroes want to venture there - though, that's less because of the danger and more because it is a sweltering hellhole.
Ancient Marsh
A deep marsh, this is the Ancient's last stand. While ancients appear from time to time, they are a common sight here. However, for some reason, they no longer feel the need to extend their land. As such, the Ancient Marsh is a dangerous treasure trove.
Silent Veil
Very little is known about the Silent Veil. The island is covered in a thick mist that causes sickness to those that approach and is thus undiscovered.
Hero's Landing and Journey
Very little is shared about this island. It's a well-guarded secret. What is known is that it's the trial to become a hero.
Item Grades:
Legendary
Objects of insane value, Legendary items are just that - of legend. They are impossibly hard to find and, due to their power, are worth as much as entire nations.
Artifact
Weapons, tools, armour, anything that the Ancients had brought with them. They are extremely powerful, enchanted with unknown magic, and enigmatic.
Masterwork
Great objects made by masters in their field. They are usually enchanted with magic, but are the pinnacle of mankind's creation.
Magic
Things imbued with magic. The properties vary extraordinary.
Common
Regular objects. Nothing is too special about them. Quality varies from pile of rust to beautiful swords.
Races:
Human
The most plentiful race on Alma, humans form the bulk of every population. They are incredibly normal. Their culture varies from location to location.
Elf/Half-Elf
There is very little difference between elves and half-elves. They appear to look like humans, but taller with elongated ears. The main difference between the two is the culture they have. Half-elves live like humans - in cities and towns, while elves hide themselves in elven communities.
Orc
A frigid land north of the country of Sirris, Kall-Luan is the home of orcs. It is said that they originated from an isle far to the south, but after generations and generations of nomadism, this is where they have settled. The large, pale-skinned humanoids have spent centuries in the cold hunting, fishing from the great lake Kall, and farming when possible. It is a hard existence, but one they enjoy.
Common politeness is odd to outsiders. If one you travel with is working, you work. If one you travel with is drinking while others work, slap them. If one you travel with is drinking and work is done, join them. It is not genuine to smile at strangers, and if you do so they will consider you untrustworthy. However, if you have risked your life with a stranger, they are then to be treated as a friend for as long as they do not prove themselves otherwise, assuming they are either courageous or capable. Those that travel with other races tend to view them in a condescending, protective sort of way, much as an elder sibling would to their younger kin.
Physically, the orcs are an imposing people. On average, the men stand anywhere from 5’10 to seven feet tall, weighing up to 450lbs, while the women tend to be slightly taller, averaging six to seven and a half feet tall and weighing up to 500lbs. They all bear tusks of varied lengths for decoration and attracting mates, while their actual teeth are slightly more pointed than a human’s due to their largely carnivorous diets. Most bear pale, grey-white skin, but it is not extremely unusual for dull greens and browns to find their way into the mix, relics of their original, verdant home. All orcs’ skin becomes a bright red when they enter a truly intense situation, however, a state they affectionately refer to as a “Bloodrage.” They call it this due to an old belief that an orc’s own blood grows angry with them in dangerous situations. This is misleading, however, as their skin actually changes hue in response to serious emotion of any type. An embarrassed, or sorrowful orc will look the same as a bloodthirsty one, minus facial expression and presence of a murder weapon.
Society is divided into Packs, chosen in adolescence to be trained and raised for common interests and talents. One Pack may be hunters, another Pack is devoted to farming the land, another to weaving, pottery, arcane development, and so on. When Pack members have children, they are raised by the Pack of the father until such a time as they would join their own, around age twelve. This new Pack is trained by the old one of the same nature, passing on the wisdom of elders. After training for six years, the new Pack sets off on a Journeyman project to demonstrate their competence in their respective fields, a showpiece of what they’re capable of after their training. If the old Pack approves, the youngsters are allowed to join. If not, they are cast from the city and into exile. The latter is extremely rare, but individuals have been thrown out from their packs if they are seen as not having contributed to the good work of the Pack as a whole.
Two duties are not allowed to be chosen by a Pack, instead taking children and raising them into the purpose: Priesthood and Rule. Priests are chosen roughly once a generation, the orcs of Kall-Luan worshipping the constant Storm which swirls over the Great Lake Kall, what they believe to be the embodiment of their ancestors. When orcs are still children, they are taken to the lake and hold large, iron rods over their heads. Whosoever is struck by lightning is chosen as the next Priest, assuming long as they survive. If they do not, the Storm swiftly selects another soon after, and so on. The whole process takes, at most, fifteen minutes. So far the fatality rate is relatively low, with the most destructive year only taking three children before a sturdy enough Acolyte was chosen. Following the Choosing, the child is then taken to the Priest for training, becoming an Acolyte and learning tradition, magic, and how to convene with the spirits of old through the Storm. When the Priest perishes, their favored Acolyte takes up the job, while the other Acolytes continue duties of arbitrating disputes, issuing judgements, and tending to the Temple of Kall.
Orcish morality is largely based around scarcity of necessary resources. If one cannot contribute in any way to the city, it is considered right and good to commit suicide. To be a beggar is the highest sin an orc can commit, equal to infanticide. Both ultimately will result in the end of a life more deserving than that of the one who lives. An ugly, mean, horrible bastard is still all of those, but so long as he does his job and doesn’t make life hell for his Pack, he is tolerated. He would not mind if you insulted him based on his intelligence, appearance, attitude or abilities with the opposite sex, but a backhanded comment on his Pack is fighting words. That being said, if one member of a Pack picks a fight with an individual, it is considered a private affair, and the Pack is to stay out of it. If one orc feels insulted beyond the point of recompense, they may challenge the defamer to a Blood Duel, wherein they fight to the surrender with their bare hands. It is not uncommon to kill in these duels. A duel within a Pack is never allowed, as this would be fratricide. There are no revenges for Blood-Duels.
It is seen as horrifically disrespectful to fight with ranged weapons, and as such warriors are raised to close with their enemies as swiftly as possible, dispatching them with their bare hands and armor. Magic is the exception to this rule, as magical combat is always perilous for both the user and the target. Anyone who seeks to strike at Lake Kall is the other exception to this rule, however, as attacking the heart of Kall-Luan where children sleep is considered evil to the point of demonic. Weapons, magic, and dirty tricks all become valid in the face of war with such foes.
Children are seen as little balls of potential, and as such are always fiercely protected. There are few worse wrongs in Kall-Luan’s culture than harming an able-bodied child. Crippled, disfigured, or disabled children are left beside the shore of Kall for a night at birth. If they have not perished by dawn, the Storm favors them, and they are taken in as Acolytes.
While Priests are chosen of the Storm, the King is chosen by a coalition of the Twelve Eldest Packs. When the old King perishes, The Twelve convene and each nominate a new King. After nominations, there is a week of discussion, followed by another week of competitions between nominees. These are generally festive events, the competitions ranging from tests of Strength and Wisdom to Kindness and Patience. The entire city watches, judging. Then, finally, one month after the death of the old King, all Packs in the city vote between the nominees. The winner is then King until death.
It is not uncommon for incompetent Kings to be… corrected. Permanently. With assassination.

This results in a great big number of parties and celebrations ranging everything from the election of a new King, the death of the old King, the Coming of Age of a generation’s Packs, harvest time, solstices, birth days, anniversaries, births, Blood Duels, half-anniversaries… you get the idea.

Sahuagin
Colloquially known as "Ass Fish", Sahuagin are the largest coastal scourge in Alma. They range in height, from three feet to seven feet. They tend to appear like bipedal fish with webbed hands and feet. Despite some of their imposing sizes, they are surprisingly not durable. Their bones are clear and pliable - something that bones should not be. Their scales are an exception and can block most downwards strikes. However, upwards strikes can easily break through the scales. They are also immune to most sickness and poisons, a result of them eating anything that looks like food.
Another odd feature of Sahuagin is their breeding cycles. The vast majority of Sahuagin are infertile. Those females who are fertile grow to gargantuan size. These females sleep for years before waking up to eat and lay thousands of eggs, then sleep for years more.
While a threat, Sahuagin are more known to be more of a pest. They are highly territorial. Outside of their territory, however, they flee at the first sight of danger. Surprisingly, they are not hunters. They are solely scavengers. As a result, their caves are almost always filled to the brim with useless and destroyed weapons, half-eaten carcasses, and any sort of thing that looks shiny.
Sahuagin in their territory are considered to be a C-rank threat. However, outside of their territory, they are considered to not even have a ranked threat, as even a child could best a fleeing Sahuagin.

Irene would describe herself as a “seeker of beauty”, which is absolutely true, but not in the way most might think. Irene does not merely seek random baubles that look mildly attractive, nor is she satisfied with a handful of handsome people around her. Instead, she seeks to make every aspect of her life “beautiful” to some degree, believing that everything can and should be beautified through proper action. Anything from the way someone eats to how they walk can be made “beautiful”, and Irene won’t stand for anything less than perfection on the part of herself and others. Anybody that isn’t quite “beautiful” yet is to be encouraged to become so, and anyone that can’t be must be avoided.
However, Irene is rarely an overtly mean spirited person. If she finds someone distasteful for their lack of “beauty” she will not be openly hostile, instead preferring to either subtly hint at their potential for change or politely avoid their company. She is also not above helping others, as she believes that part of being “beautiful” is to adhere to the idea of “Noblesse Oblige”, and so will perform seeming acts of charity and sacrifice in the name of her own ideology. Her willingness to act on behalf of others is not limitless, however, and expecting her to go beyond simple and easy acts of kindness will not work out. Ultimately, she is someone who will do seemingly nice things for her own reasons, though she is hardly a “good person” in the traditional sense of the word.
History:
House Rendower is one of the noble houses of Irithia, of which Irene is a child of its current patriarch. Horatio Rendower is a corpulent and ugly man, and is equally ugly in personality, being one of the kingdom’s biggest sycophants and is well known for stuffing his face recklessly at many social gatherings. His children are also renowned for their bad habits and terrible looks, and have come to be collectively known as “Rendower’s Monsters”. Irene, being the only one among the current Rendower household that isn’t as repulsive as the rest, grew to despise the way they acted and looked. At social events, she was constantly embarrassed by their bad behaviour, and wished she could be a part of just about any other family in Irithia. She developed a highly contrarian lifestyle, seeking beauty in all things almost as a way to spite the family that she resented so much.
As she grew up, Irene became aware of the existence of the Iron Rose Adventurer’s Guild, and desired to join their ranks. She saw them as both an escape from the repulsive house of Rendower and as the heralds of a romantic lifestyle of adventure and exploration. She threw herself into martial studies so that she might prepare herself to leave for the guild’s headquarters. She even pestered some of the realm’s greatest knights for advice and training, as though some of the Rendower children had martial ability, none of them made for a remotely adequate teacher. Eventually, she felt confident enough to go forth and join the guild, and left her family without a word. Given their dispositions, they ultimately cared little for her departure, with her father only mildly irked by the scandal of one of his daughters abandoning the family. However, given he was smart enough to know his reputation was already practically mud, even that mattered little in the end.
Arriving in Swynport, Irene immediately made a great effort to initiate herself into the ranks of the Iron Rose guild’s membership. While not everything about them was “beautiful” enough for her liking, they were the biggest and most renowned guild in the land, and so Irene considered it the perfect place to make a new home within. She has been a regular member of the Guild for three years now, and fully intends to one day make the rank of Legend, believing it to be the most “beautiful” ideal one can strive for.
Magic:
Irene is an Electromancer, and can send forth strikes of lightning at her enemies. Irene considers the swift and deadly bolts to be the most “beautiful” way of magically dispatching her foes that she can imagine.

Personality:
Derrien is a free spirit. The Elven ways of living isolated and free have made him into an easily impressed person, though he is quick to bore and rarely gives things more than one look. Derrien is socially stunted even amongst other Elves, but this socially stunted nature seemingly disappears when around a female of any intelligent race, whereupon he becomes incredibly flirtatious and nigh-shameless, aggressively pursuing a relationship with his chosen target. Otherwise, Derrien is mostly all serious conversation around others, though he sometimes tosses in a sarcastic or insulting quip. Derrien's main form of expression is through music, which he sees as a focusing area for all of his emotional struggles and pleasures. Derrien is much more likely to discuss when the topic revolves around music, especially his own. When on the topic of music, Derrien is a much more emotional speaker, discussing the intricacies of music and his own understanding of it. These conversations are the only way Derrien expresses his worldview outside of his music or perhaps one or two small statements otherwise.
Derrien's worldview itself is a belief that life, fleeting as it is, is to be enjoyed for what it is, and that wasting time on endeavors such as work or education, is pointless. Life is better spent enjoying your freedom, and Derrien sees joining the guild as a chance to learn how to do that better. Derrien's deepest fear is that of being abandoned by someone he trusts, so he makes sure to never trust anyone, and is thus very paranoid and as a result quite observant. Derrien avoids getting attached to anyone, and often acts angrily and rudely to drive others away when he feels like they're getting too close.
History:
Born in the forests of western Rode, Derrien lived his childhood in a small Elven retreat. His father was well-known around the area for his magical talent, and Derrien inherited at least a small amount of that. His father tutored him in the magical arts from a young age. Derrien's father quickly grew frustrated with Derrien's lack of care for magic and preference for music.
This came to a head when Derrien used the money his father gave to him for a magic staff to purchase an enchanted panflute, which allowed him to cast spells without the need of a staff and gave him the chance to continue making music. Derrien's father, never pleased with the fact that his son had yet to express any extreme magical talent, decided to take Derrien into the forests for a long magical training session.
When they arrived, Derrien's father suddenly disappeared, and Derrien was left alone, lost in the forest. He only barely made it back to the retreat. Derrien's father was never seen again. Derrien continued tuning his art, and despite the bad memories associated with it, he continued practicing magic. Derrien eventually grew bored of this, and left the Elven retreat to see the world, joining up with the Adventurer's Guild for a chance to see more of it, and maybe meet some nice girls on the way.
Magic:
Derrien's magic is channeled through his panflute, allowing for it to effect anyone who hears the flute. He can use this to improve moods, intimidate others, and invigorate allies. These abilities can be used in combat or to subtly influence others outside of it. Derrien's flute magic is focused on increasing the ability of allies, weakening foes, or defending himself, but he does have offensive spells, such as powerful whistles that can break ear-drums, and the ability to blast flame through the panflute itself. Other than the abilities relying on the flute, Derrien has other utility spells such as haste, and weak offensive attacks like a zap of magical energy, fired from the finger-tips. His lute can also be used to perform weaker versions of his flute-songs. His spell repertoire is small and seemingly unworthy, but they are all utilitarian.
Skills:
Derrien is a middling sword-fighter, talented lute player, and excellent flute player. He is agile and dexterous, and a skilled climber.

Personality:
The orcs believe in leading by example, and as such Korgath strives to be an exemplar in everything he does. He laughs louder, drinks more, cries harder and shoulders as much as any other man he has ever known. In a more charismatic person, this would lead to a natural leader. For Korgath, the results are… a little uncomfortable, to be honest. He’s trying too hard and everyone knows it, but calms down when in more wild settings.
Spending most of his life traveling through the wilds to reach civilization, Kor has learned that he is, in truth, a hardcore introvert. If he had his druthers, he would live in the woods with Kitty, hunting and fishing without need for intervention from the outside world. This does not befit his station.
Considering his past, Korgath is more than aware that sometimes it is rude to inquire into someone’s history, and is happy to remain quiet on such matters.
History:
Pack Ulverin was a not a special one, yet another Hunter Pack for the city. Korgath himself was the spawn of then-king, Garill Ul’kadosh. The king was a large, mighty man, strong in body and spirit. He was a man who cast a shadow miles long. For this reason, Korgath trained himself since he was a child, pushing himself to be the best of the best, stronger and faster than any other member of his or any other martial Pack. He led them in hunts, was first in and last out of dangerous areas, and in their training he found his most trustworthy companion in Kitty, a beast he found after his Pack slew her mother. He showed an unnatural affinity with creatures of the wild, and soon spent more and more time away from his Pack. It was… unhealthy. Unnatural, if the Priest was to be believed, but his father would have none of it. It served the Hunt well.
Then, the Pack was sent on their Bloodquest. It was relatively simple. They were to find and kill a Cavebear, beasts as large as a house, having been dropped off naked in the taiga. Not easy, but simple. After two days, they had clothed themselves in furs, crafted primitive tools, and found their quarry.
It was an aged male, old enough to be the size of a small house, but still young enough to be quick and dangerous. Worthy prey.
They had found its den and were deep inside, the warmth of the slumbering beast’s breath practically slapping the six young orcs in the chest when they heard a powerful scream come from the entrance; a white drake had appeared, and was hungry.
Kor was fast, but not as swift as an enraged cave bear with a predator knocking on its front door. The beast knocked him aside as it woke from its slumber, slamming the young orc into the wall of the tunnel and knocking him unconscious. What happened next he could not say, but when he awoke, there was blood and fur everywhere, along with the corpses of his Pack. The only one left was Kitty, who had drug him from the fray in order to keep him safe.
Devastated, he returned to Kall, dragging the severed skull of the cave bear. Technically, his Pack had passed their proof. An orc with no Pack was a pitiful creature, and pity did not get one far in Kall-Luan. Korgath was given the option to stay, join the old Pack, and forget his comrades. Or, as his father spoke, there was another choice. He could leave.
Exile was a punishment for most, but this was no exile. Korgath had never been the same as the others. He strove to leave the city, explore beyond their borders and the protection of the Storm. With his Pack gone, it was a tragedy, but a chance for the orcs of Kall-Luan to know the state of the world once more. The strike of the ancients had happened long ago, but who was to say it could not happen again? It was time for the orcs to branch out, make friends and allies amongst the other races. The king extolled the virtues of knowledge and unity, and presented the case before the Twelve. They agreed, with one condition. Korgath would not return without a new Pack. Lineage did not matter, but no orc was to be alone. It wasn’t right.
Korgath left.
Magic:
-Due to a process he underwent before his right of travel, Korgath bears eyes able to see in complete darkness. Usually unnoticeable, in pitch conditions they let loose a gentle, dull green glow.
-Korgath is not sure if it is magic or not, but he has always had an almost supernatural ability to connect with animals. This also translates as an ability to read body language damn near perfectly.
-Korgath automatically knows if any of his original Packmates are within half a mile, and in what direction they lie. This would not matter because they are dead, except that it includes Kitty, and in theory anyone he grows close enough to. He’s not entirely positive.
Skills:
-Korgath is an experienced hunter, and knows how to track through rain, sleet, snow, or shine. Over time, he has managed to learn how to track by scent, though this is difficult and better suited for his big fluffy friend.
-Korgath has spent his entire life hunting beasts larger than himself, and is a fair hand with a blade. The axe and knife he keeps at his side have both seen their fair share of use, and he boasts more than the strength necessary to use them. That being said, he is completely useless with a bow, as his clan does not believe in without the use of one’s hands. Additionally, he has only used weapons against wild creatures and abominations, as his people believe one should kill other men with their bare hands. His fist-fighting is rough and relies largely on grappling, but getting hit in the head by an enraged orc is still getting hit in the head by an enraged orc. Has traditional orcish practice of fighting unarmed-to-armed combat, largely revolving around getting in a good cheap shot, joint locks, eye-gouging, and disarming his opponent. He is infinitely better at fighting monsters than he is people.
-Having lived his life outside almost entirely, Korgath is skilled at surviving in the wilderness. He knows many traps for small game, and if it has to do with camping there is a large chance he can get it done.
-Korgath is tough as a brick wall, and has been gored, mauled, and bludgeoned throughout his life. None of it has left him too worse for wear.
-Korgath is trained in the use of heavier weapons and armor, but prefers to go as light as a shirt of chain. Wears leathers when hunting.
-Korgath is almost supernaturally able to commune with wild and domesticated beasts of all kinds.

-Iron Knuckles: a special pair of gauntlets made for slaying men, essentially normal gauntlets with a small ridge of spikes around the ridge of the knuckles and less armor around the articulations of the phalanges, allowing for grappling as well as powerful strikes.Think Alexander Armstrong and you’re in the neighborhood.
-Iron Toeknuckles: See above, but for the feet/shins/knees. Essentially combat shinguards.
-Heavy sandles: The most Korgath is willing to wear in these softer climes.
-Winter clothes: Not in use.
-Waterskin: For drankin’
-Clothes: Hated but necessary in polite company
-Tinderbox: Man still needs to cook to eat meat
-Mess kit: Seasoning makes everything better.
Anything Else:
-Kitty: a Tundra Wolf that Kor has raised since his Pack killed her family in the tundra north of Lake Kall, Kitty and Korgath are both the last remaining members of their family. Eight feet long and three feet tall at the shoulder, she can very reasonably carry a human on her back for long distances. Korgath, not so much. Additionally, she is well-trained as a hunting dog, her nose far more capable than her companion’s, and her teeth much sharper. She generally has a good sense of when someone is trustworthy, and more than once Kor has deferred to her judgement on strangers. Loves cats, thinks she is a lapdog. This is troublesome, as she is as large as an adult female lion.
-Korgath is extremely well-adapted to the cold and extremely unadapted to the heat. He tends to wear very little when he is able to, as the Southlands are much hotter than his home in the distant North. In theory he is slightly resistant to cold magics and slightly vulnerable to fire spells.
A frigid land north of the country of Sirris, Kall-Luan is the home of orcs. It is said that they originated from an isle far to the south, but after generations and generations of nomadism, this is where they have settled. The large, pale-skinned humanoids have spent centuries in the cold hunting, fishing from the great lake Kall, and farming when possible. It is a hard existence, but one they enjoy.
Common politeness is odd to outsiders. If one you travel with is working, you work. If one you travel with is drinking while others work, slap them. If one you travel with is drinking and work is done, join them. It is not genuine to smile at strangers, and if you do so they will consider you untrustworthy. However, if you have risked your life with a stranger, they are then to be treated as a friend for as long as they do not prove themselves otherwise, assuming they are either courageous or capable. Those that travel with other races tend to view them in a condescending, protective sort of way, much as an elder sibling would to their younger kin.
Physically, the orcs are an imposing people. On average, the men stand anywhere from 5’10 to seven feet tall, weighing up to 450lbs, while the women tend to be slightly taller, averaging six to seven and a half feet tall and weighing up to 500lbs. They all bear tusks of varied lengths for decoration and attracting mates, while their actual teeth are slightly more pointed than a human’s due to their largely carnivorous diets. Most bear pale, grey-white skin, but it is not extremely unusual for dull greens and browns to find their way into the mix, relics of their original, verdant home. All orcs’ skin becomes a bright red when they enter a truly intense situation, however, a state they affectionately refer to as a “Bloodrage.” They call it this due to an old belief that an orc’s own blood grows angry with them in dangerous situations. This is misleading, however, as their skin actually changes hue in response to serious emotion of any type. An embarrassed, or sorrowful orc will look the same as a bloodthirsty one, minus facial expression and presence of a murder weapon.
Society is divided into Packs, chosen in adolescence to be trained and raised for common interests and talents. One Pack may be hunters, another Pack is devoted to farming the land, another to weaving, pottery, arcane development, and so on. When Pack members have children, they are raised by the Pack of the father until such a time as they would join their own, around age twelve. This new Pack is trained by the old one of the same nature, passing on the wisdom of elders. After training for six years, the new Pack sets off on a Journeyman project to demonstrate their competence in their respective fields, a showpiece of what they’re capable of after their training. If the old Pack approves, the youngsters are allowed to join. If not, they are cast from the city and into exile. The latter is extremely rare, but individuals have been thrown out from their packs if they are seen as not having contributed to the good work of the Pack as a whole.
Two duties are not allowed to be chosen by a Pack, instead taking children and raising them into the purpose: Priesthood and Rule. Priests are chosen roughly once a generation, the orcs of Kall-Luan worshipping the constant Storm which swirls over the Great Lake Kall, what they believe to be the embodiment of their ancestors. When orcs are still children, they are taken to the lake and hold large, iron rods over their heads. Whosoever is struck by lightning is chosen as the next Priest, assuming long as they survive. If they do not, the Storm swiftly selects another soon after, and so on. The whole process takes, at most, fifteen minutes. So far the fatality rate is relatively low, with the most destructive year only taking three children before a sturdy enough Acolyte was chosen. Following the Choosing, the child is then taken to the Priest for training, becoming an Acolyte and learning tradition, magic, and how to convene with the spirits of old through the Storm. When the Priest perishes, their favored Acolyte takes up the job, while the other Acolytes continue duties of arbitrating disputes, issuing judgements, and tending to the Temple of Kall.
Orcish morality is largely based around scarcity of necessary resources. If one cannot contribute in any way to the city, it is considered right and good to commit suicide. To be a beggar is the highest sin an orc can commit, equal to infanticide. Both ultimately will result in the end of a life more deserving than that of the one who lives. An ugly, mean, horrible bastard is still all of those, but so long as he does his job and doesn’t make life hell for his Pack, he is tolerated. He would not mind if you insulted him based on his intelligence, appearance, attitude or abilities with the opposite sex, but a backhanded comment on his Pack is fighting words. That being said, if one member of a Pack picks a fight with an individual, it is considered a private affair, and the Pack is to stay out of it. If one orc feels insulted beyond the point of recompense, they may challenge the defamer to a Blood Duel, wherein they fight to the surrender with their bare hands. It is not uncommon to kill in these duels. A duel within a Pack is never allowed, as this would be fratricide. There are no revenges for Blood-Duels.
It is seen as horrifically disrespectful to fight with ranged weapons, and as such warriors are raised to close with their enemies as swiftly as possible, dispatching them with their bare hands and armor. Magic is the exception to this rule, as magical combat is always perilous for both the user and the target. Anyone who seeks to strike at Lake Kall is the other exception to this rule, however, as attacking the heart of Kall-Luan where children sleep is considered evil to the point of demonic. Weapons, magic, and dirty tricks all become valid in the face of war with such foes.
Children are seen as little balls of potential, and as such are always fiercely protected. There are few worse wrongs in Kall-Luan’s culture than harming an able-bodied child. Crippled, disfigured, or disabled children are left beside the shore of Kall for a night at birth. If they have not perished by dawn, the Storm favors them, and they are taken in as Acolytes.

Then, finally, one month after the death of the old King, all Packs in the city vote between the nominees. The winner is then King until death.
It is not uncommon for incompetent Kings to be… corrected. Permanently. With assassination.

As a first time roleplayer, I decided to go for a simple character. I hope you like him! :)

Wren is a free-spirited and kind farm-boy with a knack for getting into trouble. He hates
to see people get hurt, while also being reckless and prone towards breaking rules. He possesses an enthusiasm that can be exasperating at times and sometimes speaks without thinking, something that has gotten him into trouble in the past. He also has a love of exploration and adventure that he inherited from his uncle.
Lacking any formal education, Wren has limited knowledge of the world and doesn't know how to read, something he is rather subconscious about. Magic is also completed foreign to him and he is impressed by even the simplest spells.
History:
Wrenning “Wren” Harper was born in a tiny, ice-bound village in the mountains between Rhode and Sirris. Growing up, he idolized his uncle William, an adventurer who would visit from time to time with gifts and stories for his nieces and nephews. Wren knew that he wanted to be an adventure too, and he spent hours of his childhood running around in the woods pretending to fight monsters and discover treasure. His antics often got him in trouble, but his kind nature and childish charm were usually enough to get him out of it.
Unfortunately, when Wren was 19 his village was struck by famine. There wasn’t enough food to go around the table, so he decided to leave home and try his luck as an adventurer in hopes that he could bring home enough money to save his village. Taking his father’s elven-made crossbow with him, Wren set out for the life of adventure he had always dreamed of, albeit for less than ideal reasons.
Eventually, he found his uncle’s old guild, the Iron Rose Adventurers, and was informed that William had gone missing eight months ago on a mission to the Ancient Marsh. Wren was not deterred however, and joined the guild more motivated than before. He now hopes to not only save his home town, but to journey to the Ancient Marsh and find his uncle.

Wren picked up some basic hunting and combat abilities after living in the mountains his entire life. He is muscular from a life of labor and has quite a bit of farming know-how, including knowledge of animal handling and horse riding. He knows how to use his crossbow but still has a lot to learn.
