I'm looking to possibly start a Star Wars RP. What I would like to achieve with this RP is basically something outside of the Skywalker Saga, or rather a story, or multitude of stories to run along side the Skywalker Saga. Mandalorians being a center piece (although a very short lived centerpiece) of Season 3/4 of Rebels has made me want to think about the other displaced Mandalorian planets, as well as displaced planets and systems all over the galaxy. Basically, if you have a character idea that would work from a planet that was either taken over, or taken into servitude by the Empire (considering this is set a bit before Episode 4), then you are definitely welcome. If you even just want to stretch your muscles writing for a member of the Empire, a defector of the empire, or any of the above, I would be interested to see what you would have to bring to a RP like this.

For example, I have a character idea, who's entire planet was taken over by the Empire. After an attempted rebellion, all were executed and the very few survivors were scattered all over the universe, into different systems and out of their normal lives. I tend to play Mandalorians because that's what I know best. But think of something, and if you're interested, show interest!

I'm just curious to see if there IS any interest, as I'm sure Star Wars is a huge topic around here right now, with the new movie coming out today. Just know, I'm not a bandwagon fan, and I won't leave you stranded, unless LIFE gets in the way. Even then, I'm a pretty communicative GM.

Toodles. Think about it!

Yo! I'm a major Star Wars fan. I'd be very much interested in Rping this. Will this be linear or more open-ended?

I've got a Star Wars character of mine that I'm pretty eager to use, at some point. An old Imperial of mine.

Though I admit, I much prefer the old EU to Disney.

I have a Star Wars character I want to adapt to this.

The idea is that he was 15 by the end of the clone wars so he wasn't able to sign up like his brothers, but helped out as an assistant to the Jedi that was sent to help recruit troops and defend the world after the Separatists attack. He was obsessed with the Jedi and asked the Jedi many questions about the order, the Force, etc. When the Jedi found out that he was actually Force Sensitive (he was able to slide a cred chip across the table thanks to the answers he got about the Force), the guy refused to teach him, but instead went into damage control, teaching him about the Light side and warning him about the Dark.

My guy would be kind of like a Gray Paladin, using the Force to enhance his reflexes and skills, especially in a fight, but not really using Force powers, having never learned anything besides simple telekinesis.

He'd probably be a mechanic or merchant.

It will definitely be open ended. The only linear part of the whole RP will be the timeline. And the only timeline is where in the actually Star Wars canon would this take place...

I'm thinking setting it possibly a year before Rogue One...or even just a few months. I will decide later on.

I will admit on my own that I don't want to do TOO much with old EU, but as long as the storyline isn't completely out there, and unrealistic, I don't mind using bits and pieces of legends or any of the other EU. I am a fan of the Disney canon, but only because Rebels is what originally got me interested in Star Wars. So, the Disney Canon will be staying, but you're welcome to try and avoid it personally if you can.

We may have to work that just a little bit when the time comes to make a CS. There are a few things that I have a slight issue with, just lore stuff. Nothing major. Such as, if he's the older of the brothers, anywhere within the Clone Wars, and his brothers were discovered, he would have been found out along with his brothers. Jedi typically take kids in, instead of signing them up in classes or whatnot. Pre-order 66, Jedi would search out children under the age of 6 or 7 to bring them into the studies. With a little bit of shaping, I think that it could work. If you need me to explain anything else just message me and I will do my best to clarify what I am thinking.

Anyways feel free to message me!

I'm gonna let this thread get a little bit more attention, and I will create an IC/OOC thread.

@AnnaBeth I had a character in mind, if you don't mind hearing me out so we can work it out (just in case.) I've used them in another Rp, specifically the Star Wars D&D game (can't quite remember which one.)

@AnnaBeth

So, the character's name is Gaelden Osdum; he's an artifact hunter. Born on the planet of Ord Mantell, it's not hard to see why he'd want to join the Imperial Navy as a TIE pilot. The elite of the elite in the Imperial Navy was his dream. Unfortunately, there were several problems with these plans. 1.) He didn't quite qualify in the skill or academic levels to become a part of the infamous TIE fighters. 2.) He's Force Sensitive, which is practically either a death sentence or a life of servitude as an Inquisitor - and Force Users were people he did not feel comfortable around. Even before he was born, his parents had an almost paranoid distrust of the Jedi Order. When they were told of his Force Sensitivity and the potential to become a Jedi, they were outraged, believing that the Jedi were sent to kidnap their son. Therefore, he was barred from ever learning of this, or even being permitted to interact with Jedi and Jedi Supporters. So, when the time came around for him to make a decision on what to do with his adult life, he did the one thing that felt natural to him - a calling, as if some unknown force was dictating his next action: smuggling and selling ancient artifacts on Force heavy planets (provided they weren't heavily blockaded by the Imperials. No one in their right mind would dare to go toe-to-toe against an Imperial vessel, not unless you had a heavily modified ship.) He now spends his days listening to the strange connections he feels to find these ancient relics, but never looks too deep in them, for his fear of Jedi and Sith "sorcery" is strong.

Maybe, with enough luck, the young man will haul a nice catch, and swim in credits.

So, as far as his allegiance goes, he likes the Empire, albeit he is quite bitter about being unable to serve. In his eyes, the Imperials were just trying to keep order in the galaxy, even if it has gone unstable due to a few authoritarian rules. However, he refuses to get too involved with the political instability that plagues the galaxy.

Anyways, I'm perfectly fine with working to fix anything up, so long as we can discuss it.

@AnnaBethHe would have been the youngest child, and possibly the only one that was Force Sensitive.

He could be from a world outside the Republic, where the Jedi wouldn't have tested everyone at birth. The world would have allied with the Republic because the Seps tried to conquer it.
Or maybe he wasn't quite up to the Jedi standards so they didn't bother "recruiting" him as a baby. Or he was born outside the Republic, but his family moved to a Republic world after he was born, so the initial testing wasn't done.

We do know it's possible for people to slip through the net, as Palpatine wasn't detected despite being born on Naboo.

Edit: Let's just say he was from a low population planet (a few million) and that when the doctor told the parents what the at-birth midiclorian count test meant, they bribed him to falsify the results by sending a duplicate of his older brother's much lower count to the government.

@LordVoldemortI made a Force Sensitive archeologist is a Starwars RP once. (Future where Luke never fully reestablished the Jedi Order, so there was only one.) I said he had dug up a Sith Holocron and it was teaching him.

Clarifying is definitely making it work better.

It wouldn't be completely impossible to avoid the new canon material. The only thing new canon is the timeline, no canon characters or plot points really. The point of this RP is to use points in the canon timeline as time stamps or reference, while giving life to characters who are not directly part of the Luke Skywalker saga. The characters could be sanitation workers in a bar on Yavin-4 for all I care lol as long as they are written well.

@TheUnknowable Noice. I'm not sure if I'm going to make him actually learn the Force, though. I mean, he might, but I feel like it'll be completely situational.
