yo hello all! i'm very, very new to the forums and i saw this and i just..? i love this!! y'all are still accepting new members right? because i wanna try this out. i'm skimming the character sheets rn. does anybody want a sister or a sibling or former best friend or rival or something? either way, i'm really pumped to come up with an OC for this group. are there any archetypes -- be it character or weapon or power -- that you guys think is missing? i don't want to overlap much with anyone;;
EDIT: okay, so i read every CS and i'm unsure what type of character to go with: water-based / ice-based powers, sniper, demolitions expert, archer, or buff/nerf support? ofc some of these concepts can be combined but i'm still unsure so pls help by telling which y'all think is best (?)

♚⋮ __ * MAGICAL GIRL COSTUME ▬ ◞ enid's costume is somewhat of a metaphor for her heart when she first became a magical girl. dark, elusive, edgy yet surprisingly vulnerable, her outfit is made for stealth, support, and reconnaissance operations rather than battling in the frontlines.
♚⋮ __ * POWERS ▬ ◞ like her costume, enid's powers reflect a part of her soul when she was recruited. back then, one of her greatest desires was to live away from everyone's attention. such a wish caused her powers to be specialized for making her as hidden as possible while still dealing a good deal of damage at range. while she can defend herself in melee combat, she cannot stage frontal assaults. her weapon is a sleek bow and arrow that manifests whenever she needs it. the quiver supplies her with different kinds of arrows depending on her purpose and never runs out. small knives that can be used as throwing knives or in melee combat are also available.
＊░ O1. ）DUSK PREDATOR ━ passive ability. being a magical girl particularly gave enid enhanced endurance, flexibility, speed, dexterity, and perception. for better or for worse, it also changed her eye color to a tinge of red over the years.
＊░ O2. ）INDISCERNIBLE ━ passive ability. enid is much harder to be recognized by normal humans and even magical foes. however, the effect is lowered as the creature's level/rank rises. the same principle applies to tracking magic or devices.
＊░ O3. ）RED HERRING ━ an illusory duplicate of enid appears right next to her and can take complex commands. however, a particularly strong attack, extended use, and/or enid losing focus (which is the least likely of the three) would cause the duplicate to fade into smoke. the ability takes a lot out of enid so it would be hard to instantly summon another duplicate once the other disappears. back when they were still new to the business, the duplicate could barely follow any orders. it made for interesting episodes and a comedic filler episode at least.
＊░ O4. ）SHADOW'S BREATH ━ a dark fog covers the vicinity and puts to sleep or poisons any foe in the area. the toxic cloud would temporarily knockout weaker opponents while stronger ones would be awake but momentarily getting increasing damage over time. the ability has no effect on allied/harmless characters and also serves as a way to obscure them.
＊░ O5. ）DEATH'S TRAMP ━ enid throws magical spikes in an area, slowing down and hurting enemies and allies alike. such spikes are somewhat of a bastard combination of caltrops and explosive mines. the detonations let out toxic dust instead of fire.

♚⋮ __ * HISTORY WITH JUSTICE HEART ▬ ◞ enid didn't have the purest intentions when she joined justice heart. instead of justice, her heart was wracked with vengeance for the very monsters who turned her life upside down. before everything went to shit, she was the first child of a rising politician and a famed hollywood socialite, model, and philanthropist. enid and her younger brother, eiichi, may be slightly neglected by both parents but at least it was luxurious despair they were too young to recognize. it may be melancholy at times but at least their father wasn't made an example of in live television, right? well, not yet at least.
perhaps her father wasn't the cleanest politician there is but at least his morals were on the right side. enid remembers the very summer it happened. it was yet another fundraising event her mother hosted. moguls, celebrities, and politicians were rubbing elbows and wearing plastic smiles for the cameras. it went on like that for hours until one of the dollmaster's lieutenants crashed the party. it was chaos. people were dying, the police were preoccupied with another attack in the other side of the city, and perhaps, the justice heart too. even decades later, enid doesn't know what took the justic heart so long to arrive then. she didn't dare to find out either way. knowing wouldn't change matters and she might just hate them more if she found out. that summer night, lucian carraway decided to be the hero his campaign ads say about him and eiichi always the trooper decided to join in the "fun" too.

in london, enid carraway was able to continue the healing and soul-searching she started while in justice heart. for once, she ultimately felt at peace. while overseas, she found love, ambition, and she didn't keep in touch with a lot of her ex-teammates though she made it a point to pay somebody to snoop around whenever a member changes their contact and secretly help them in dire situations. perhaps deep inside, enid still wants to reconnect with the people who knew her best and helped her flourish. after all, she didn't really need to go back to san francisco, did she?

＊░ NAOMI CARRAWAY (née FUKUSHIMA) ━ mother. naomi really tried to get more involved with her daughter's life after "the incident" but it was too little, too late. shortly after the death of her husband and son, enid was recruited into justice heart. of course, this took a lot of the girl's time even if she'd like to grow close to her mother. presently, the mother and daughter's relationship appears to be a bit strained. naomi bristles over the fact that her beloved daughter is going to be a homewrecker.
＊░ AGUSTIN NARVAEZ ━ lover. agustin and enid had been in a relationship with each other for almost five years now and have known each other for longer. they met briefly in a business trip in sweden almost eight years ago and have stayed in contact since then. though not one for romance, enid truly believes that agustin is the one for her... even if she is very much aware that the man is already married with three children.
I just had an idea: combination attacks that would enable team members to blend their powers together; for example, Yellow charging Goldenrod's guns for a massive lightning blast.

@numachi Alright, big thing. Remember that the adventures with Justice Heart were a PG thing. Your character's background is a bit ... dire. Perhaps lighten it up just a bit?
@RabidAnubis oh got it! i'll get to it. i interpreted the original justice heart as more madoka magica tbh. like, cute and amazing on the outside but still dark and dreary on the inside. can i keep the revenge subplot but just change the circumstances that lead to it? like, instead of a gala, a monster attack caused a car accident that led to her father and brother's deaths. or maybe just the death of either the father or brother instead of both? or no deaths at all? just major injuries that still changed her family's life somehow?
ngl i didn't even realize that that bg was too dark sorry. btw if you're talking about the "arrow of mercy" ability, i actually thought that the justice heart girls would save the people before they get injured or whatever and then reprimand enid over it. then something really bad happens due to her recklessness and it adds greatly to her character development arc. idk. basically, she's the problematic and edgy fave of the fandom lol

@numachi Oh, I meant more of the backstory. The story now is closer to MM, but the original backstories and adventures were like Tokyo Mew Mew or Sailor Moon. A car crash would be a bit more appropriate - it's a distant thing, and I've seen stuff in PG movies before (hell, the parents in Frozen die on an ocean voyage).

♚⋮ __ * HISTORY AFTER JUSTICE HEART ▬ ◞ enid felt betrayal, shame, and anger when justice heart had to split abruptly due to worthless infighting. while she was never particularly close with their de-facto leader emily, she felt especially betrayed for she trusted the woman with her life -- and life is something enid especially treasures after knowing what it was like to kill and witnessing her family's death. never one for outbursts, a slap and a scathing remark were all enid left before she ultimately distanced herself from the group. infuriated that she couldn't leave cali to start anew, she settled with surrounding herself with different people in college and building herself from the ground up. she avoided most of the justice heart members or at least acted indifferently enough that it would seem they never knew each other at all.
in university, enid carraway was able to continue the healing and soul-searching she started when she became a magical girl. for once, she ultimately felt at peace. over the years, she found love and ambition -- though never quite the same sense of belonging she had while in justice heart. while she kind of holds a grudge towards them for "betraying" her, she still kept their contacts and made sure to hire an investigator whenever one or two changes their number or e-mail. she doesn't really keep in touch with most of them but she ensures that she knows enough about them to secretly provide help in case they need it. perhaps deep inside, enid really just wants to reconnect with the people who knew her best and helped her flourish. after all, she didn't really need to continue watching over them like back in the days.

＊░ NAOMI CARRAWAY (née FUKUSHIMA) ━ mother. naomi really tried to get more involved with her daughter's life after "the incident" but it was too little, too late. shortly after the death of her husband and son, enid was recruited into justice heart. of course, this took a lot of the girl's time even if she'd like to grow close to her mother. presently, the mother and daughter's relationship appears to be a bit strained. naomi bristles over the fact that her beloved daughter is going to be a homewrecker.
＊░ AGUSTIN NARVAEZ ━ lover. agustin and enid had been in a relationship with each other for almost five years now and have known each other for longer. they met briefly in a high society event eight years ago and have stayed in contact since then. though not one for romance, enid truly believes that agustin is the one for her... even if she is very much aware that the man is already married with three children.
