I do like the minimalistic approach with sheets here, though. It’s just nice to not spend weeks on a CS and stammer like an idiot when it comes time to post.

I think we do this every single time we get excited. It may be best to not repeat history here and divert our attention in five different directions.

Though I do have that Gotham City sandbox game I’m working on…

Oh, I know. Spitballing ideas is often the path that leads us to our doom, so I'm focusing that excitement on just getting back into it in this game by itself.

But I feel pretty good about only having to worry about one character in one game with a set of rules that prevents me from going overboard with character arcs ontop of character arcs, so I'm not gonna jinx that. This game's Spidey is where my heart is for the foreseeable future.

I don't ever plan on leaving a mid-to-high casual setting for games again. Mostly because one of my issues with posting droughts is I feel pressure to keep up with people writing term-paper-length posts every 2 days and get instantly burnt out.

And I get burnt out writing said term-paper-length posts despite having multiple seasons of content thought up in my head, so we both need this.

Which was also a concept I had for The Punisher at some point, where one of his kids survived the Central Park massacre and he had to balance killing criminals every night with a suburban life...

This is the struggle for all of us, I think...

I think the real genius is that @AndyC has geared it so the incentive to not lose drives the game...

Less likely to get slack when there's actual in game consequences.

The problem with not having higher standards is those we end up writing with, I think. I think that’s been the biggest struggle since these things moved from Superherohype to RPG. Bigger audience and sometimes the quality drop effects morale just as much as posting “term paper posts” do. I’m sure there is a good middle ground somewhere.

Yeah, I'm going to take things one step at a time, and not get overconfident again. I just recently made the mistake of assuming everyone else was going to be as excited about my Marvel Knights game as I was, spent the better part of a month meticulously detailing the game world and what I wanted to do with it....only to have the game peeter out after about two weeks. Which was a real knife in the heart, since I was finally playing out a version of the Black Suit Spider-Man saga I'd wanted to do since All-Star Marvel v1.0 all the way back in '09.

Still, I think this time we've got ourselves a winner.

Eh, we had not-so-great quality at the Hype sometimes as well. Hell, I know I sucked when I first started. But as long as players are open to constructive criticism and the like, we could bring them along.

What level are we talking here? Nero putting out a blazing Rome or Taft walking up a gentle incline?

We're talking Prince Alexei trying to breath after a slight bump to his chest.

Some people aren’t as open to Superherohype kindness, is all I’m saying. Some people want to have a more dedicated collaborative writing experience. I know that I have to be comfortable writing with a group to keep having fun. If things are ridden with spelling errors, wonky characterization, and so forth I tend to want to dip out. I’m not that persnickety either.

Right, which is why I say "If they're open to constructive criticism" haha. It's a delicate balance to be sure, but I also realize I'll probably never experience the Hype days of old, may they forever rest in peace.

You just have to have different approaches with different websites. Hype had a different culture and population than RPG does, so being absolutely open for the sake of it invites disaster on RPG. I really think standards are important with RPG.

I do wish I could have experienced the RP culture of Hype in its prime, though.

Well, let's not all spend the whole time getting misty-eyed over the Basement. We had our share of frustrations and problem-players over there, too, and a graveyard full of games that never got off the ground. Don't get me wrong, I had a blast there, but let's not sour the experience here by putting the past on a pedestal.

Andy, should we start putting things in the "Characters" section? Wasn't sure if you wanted to put something in the first post on there or what. Might be a good place to store the "clues" that we find about the Big Bad

Yeah, Andy could use the 'characters' tab like a lore index if he wanted.
