@KabenSaal Yo! Welcome to the god nest, it looks like you'll settle back in just fine.

But it's not even effective because IIRC you can add to a weapon or empower it infinitely, going in increments of two. I'll have a level 50 [Orb of Limitless Power] by the end of it, and I'll gain a bunch of levels while doing it too! You just mark my words!


Under the godspeed rules, you can't empower it as a destructive implement beyond 2 Might, in increments or otherwise. You can only make it more versatile.

You can only sharpen the blade on a swiss army knife so much, but sometimes it's necessary to kill someone with the corkscrew.

With how long the turns are, I can see this being an issue. I would be willing to give the base might of main PC demis a boost depending on what they want to do with it.

@BBeast, @Antarctic Termite? Thoughts?


Well, looks like we just found a use for Fate's Might Pot.

Proposal: Give demi-gods double the might, or at least some extra might, so they are not affected by these really long turns.

Of course, that only applying to the demis who are played as main characters, not to the ones god players have.

This sounds like a reasonable measure to improve their activity over the very long turns.

While we're at it, I think the Acts of Creation level-up system has worked very well so far in Godspeed. I propose incorporating it into Mk.II as of next Turn.
While there is the fact that the Godspeed system is indirect and pretty much 'free', the asking price is really in 'creativity' (literally, in-game, but also on part of the player). For a level 9 god like Gadar/Belru-Vowzra, actually coming up with things to spend 18 Might on to get to level 10 is going to be difficult.
In order to avoid Cyclone's 'hurrdurr I dump all on byg webin hurrdurr' we can also incorporate the 1-Might 'Hero Weapon' and 2-Might 'Divine Weapon' dichotomy Godspeed establishes. Weapons created before now can continue to exist as very powerful legendary weapons (in fact, stopping their production will ensure their value is not saturated further).


While I agree that the Acts of Creation level-up system is a very good system, it is also completely different to the existing system. The change is not minor; it will change the way the game is played. I am reluctant to authorise such a radical change to the system half way through the game.

Also, imposing a hard limit on the strength of single items at this point would be unbalanced, as those who already have powerful legendary weapons will receive no further competition.

A large group of Shaman want more, for their people. Dealing and binding with Djinn does not cut it anymore, and so they all gathered around a ritually prepared girl and sacrificed themselves so their essence was siphoned into the woman. Some Shaman had Djinn, some had just dealt with Djinn for a long time. the large number of Djinn-touched souls mingled inside her and condensed into a strange spirit of great power, making the woman host a Demi-God.


This is an origin story (one which might need some adjusting, since we require some divine influence to create a Demigod). Tell us more about the character. Who is this woman? What is her Domain and Portfolio? What will she do?

I was making sure the origin story was finished before doing anything else about her. For divine Influence, I guess you could have some of that in the ritual. They found some divine stuff and inserted it into the host girl. In a very crude and unsavoury fashion, she was probably going to die without the rest of it.

BBeast's right, the story is so heavily defined by the rules system that flipping the rules now would screw a bunch of plans and leave us with potential continuity errors.

On a more seriosu note, we could make an informal rule about not making more 10+ MP items. Maybe then I'd actually adopt a second portfolio.

More realistically I'd petition to get Fate's Might Pot renamed to Zephyrion's Might Pot.

I made a post three months back summarising the demigods in the game at the moment. I'll copy it here for your convenience, reference and inspiration.



From experience, the origin story is the least important part about a demigod. It can generally be constructed around the other details. The origin story will cover you for one post. We want to know what you might do in all the posts following that.

On a more seriosu note, we could make an informal rule about not making more 10+ MP items. Maybe then I'd actually adopt a second portfolio.


This is actually a reasonable plan. At present one can dump a ridiculous amount of Might into a single item. An informal cap of 10 MP could help reduce inflation (and it is more creative if someone finds a way to make three 10 MP items rather than a single 30 MP item), while not totally embargoing powerful artefacts.

@KabenSaal I would suggest that rather than starting with the origin story you either start with a Domain(Portfolio) and build your character, their personality, and who will parent them, around that. Or you begin with their personality, then give then a Domain(Portfolio) that fits that, then progress to working out who should parent them. Forget the origin story until you have the most basic foundation - that is, an actual character. You can't have an origin story for the nothing you currently have. Once you have an accepted character, you will collab with the player whose character you want to parent your's, and the origin story will grow out of that collab.

You know you are going to have to share that at one point or another, right? To be accepted into the RP. So why not work on that now and help us set up the start point, its hard to something when we have little to guess what your character is, what powers she has, and what she will be like.

It's not been shot down. @Kho, stop being a silly billy.

This can be made to work. We're generally pretty encouraging of expanding upon the lore of the world, but if you'd like to tie it into existing stuff, you've got some points to work from:

Djinn, as they exist right now, haven't been known to mess around with souls. Changing that would alter their flavour a bit, but it's certainly not impossible, especially if you add in a dash of other power sources. The most obvious one for making a demigod is for one or more actual gods to be in on the ritual. Then you would have a character actually identifiable as a kind of parent. Alternatively, you could find an artefact lying around to tie you to some power, or even some weird occult ritual. Any good contrivance will do.

Basically what I'm saying is your origin story doesn't fly in the face of the established lore. However, it's a bit difficult to help you make it work for your character in particular without a CS to work off to get a feel for it.

As for what BBeast was referring to with where you intend to take the character, we just want to make sure that you won't disappear after completing your first post due to not knowing what to do next. It's worth thinking about a general direction to take your character, no need just now for anything too complex or deep.

Let us know once you're ready to show us more :)

I wasn't thinking that the whole Djinn-touched thing was on purpose. But dealing with them for so long adds a certain, touch to a person's soul. Like when you are in water to long and your fingers shrivel up. It doesn't really change that much about a person, unless you do something about it, like this ritual or other things that come to light as they are created by other people.

Also, I didn't want to point to any God and say they were in on the ritual, but I did later suggest a divine artefact getting inserted into her to give the touch of the divine to the ritual, but with a cavet that it wasn't the driving source behind the powers. Both the ritual and the artefact needed each other to properly kick off.

I will certainly admit that this idea has been all over the shop, meandering and being added piecemeal as people suggest new things. So, A CS sounds good, now that I know the whole idea isn't completely shot down.

Legio is sounding pretty alright so far. You'll have to get approval from all of @BBeast, @Antarctic Termite, and me, but I only have one question for right now. Do you have an initial direction to take your character once created? Like a place you want Legio to go to? A quest? A story arc? I just need one thing like that, and you don't have to give all the details. It's like I said before, just to keep you playing :)
