In the beginning, there was only one god, the All-Father. Omnipotent and everlasting he searched for a purpose. He looked into the void and believed existence should be shared and the purpose for one should be in another. He split himself in two and the brother gods Euros and Meros were born, as was something new: perspective. The brother gods could not see the universe in its entirety as their father had rather they saw the void in their owns views. They agreed the void should give way to something new, a kingdom for them both.

Meros wanted a kingdom of spirit, everlasting and a world of pure consciousness. Meros built the heavens. Euros, however, wanted something different. He desired a world of sight, touch, sound, sensations and material. He created the world, the stars, the sun, and the moon. The brothers agreed that to regain their omnipotence they would have to see existence through many eyes at once and so they began to fill their kingdoms with other creations in thier image.

Meros thought things should exist in absolutes and believed all things should exist as a force for creation or destruction. He filled his realm with beings to embody this philosophy, Angels to create and protect and demons to destroy and erase. Euros saw his brother's creations but believed things should be ever-changing, and wanted his creations to choose their own purpose. Euros made mankind and gave them free will so that they might be gods unto themselves. However, the free will of mankind was a threat to all creation. They held within their hearts the power to undo all the heavens and Earth.

Meros saw man as a threat to both kingdoms and struck out against them, taking their immortality so that they may die out and fade away. When Euros saw what his brother had done and pitied the plight of his creation. Euros created the animals of the forests for them to feed on, water for them to drink, and woman so that they may multiply and their kind may never fade. Then to protect humans against his brother the god sacrificed his own divinity to separate the physical world from the spiritual and he fell to Earth as a mortal.

When Meros saw his brothers sacrifice he recognized the wrong he had done and wept for his brother who was forever beyond his reach. Rather than watch his brother die and fade to dust as the men he had cursed, Meros threw away his own divinity to create a bridge between the realms and he gave every man a soul, a spiritual counterpart so that when the physical body dies it would live forever in the spirit. In this way, he would never truly lose his brother.

The realms of men are in chaos. In the western swamps a Kingdom has fallen, a royal lineage betrayed and usurped. To the south civil war ravages the land and a nation is at risk of fracture. In the far eastern deserts the supernatural is on the rise and the innocent are found slain in their homes, drained of blood and the dead are rumored to walk again. In the mountains to the north, a kingdom is buckling under the weight of being a bulwark against the savage nomads beyond the realms of civilization.

Is it acceptable to recycle my character from the last game? If not, that's fine or I can change whatever on it.

Also, the Discord invite is expired.

So I think I stated this in the discord, all of your characters will be starting in roughly the same place.

-SNIP-

Once your characters are done I'll have a better idea on where everyone should start.

Name: Artur Rose

Gender:
Male

Age:
20 +???

Race:
Human Skeleton/Undead

Appearance:
Artur is a raised, undead skeleton. Despite being a very old skeleton he keeps his bones as clean as possible; one must take pride in one's body if you want the respect of others. He has layers of clothes on himself, in order to look more 'fleshed-out' and not as gaunt, but the top layer is a dark forest-green tunic that is belted at the waist, dark brown woolen pants that tie at the ankle with soft leather shoes. He has a deep red hooded robe with his house sigil on the back - a black and gold rose bud. The robe is open in the front but can be tied at the waist. Underneath the robe there is a side bag that hangs to his left side, with the strap crossing up to his right shoulder.

Nationality:
Kaine

Magic:
Destros (Pyromancy)
Mystos (Illios)

Backstory:

A scene from a memory

A long hooked shadow creeps along the crypt's walls, skewed and warped from the blazing torch clutched tightly in hand. Grunts and coughs echoed after the hunched figure as he slinked his way through the tunnels below the desert, thinking of how unbelievable it was that it could get so cold so quickly in this wasteland. He was used to the cool breezes of his homeland, not this drastic exchange between two extremes of temperature. Still, he trudged onward into the depths.

The sooner we get this done, the sooner I can go home and forget all about this, he thought as he glimpsed light ahead. The others were waiting for him, just as he was told by the Master. Entering the room, three men reached instinctively for their weapons - the youngest of them almost dropped the torch he was holding. "Relax," rang out his elderly voice into the silence of the room. "I serve the Lord of the Black." The young one's face relaxed into an expression of relief, but the others' remained serious.

"Were you followed?" One of the men snapped.

"Ha!" The old man almost laughed. "Followed me? Through this hellhole of a desert? I can assure you that we're the only things alive in this wasteland for leagues." The man grunted as he motioned the old man to follow, and turned on his heel to start walking to one of the tombs in the room.

"He's there, the one you were looking for," the man stated as the young one scurried over to hold the torch over the inscription. The old man looked at the engraving on the stone slab that covered the tomb. Nodding, he looked to the one that had just spoke.

"Perfect. If you wouldn't mind getting the remains out of there and placing him on the ground, I shall begin." As the men worked on sliding off the stone lid, the old man placed his torch in the brazier on the wall and started drawing a circle on the ground. The runes had to be precise before he could infuse them with his magic. He had risen many before, but none that have been gone this long. Still, the Master entrusted him with this task and he was not going to fail him.

After everything was in order and the remains were laid in the circle, the necromancer placed several objects around the skeleton. Sitting, he held out his hands, speaking the words of power and channeled the magic around him. For hours he repeated the spell, focusing his power to call back this mans soul. Rituals that required this much power were like flipping over a boat in the water. You had to slowly rock back and forth until you reached the tipping point. Then, he felt it.

It was too late to react, as a cold burst of air filled the room snuffing out all the light. The three warriors gasped and panicked as they frantically searched for their flint to relight the torches, but the necromancer didn't need to see to know what happened. He had made a terrible mistake. Light enveloped the room, unveiling the standing skeleton before them. He was looking at his hands, and then at the rest of his own body and then to the old man sitting in front of him. Unable to show emotions through facial expressions anymore, the old necromancer could see that he was confused nonetheless. Which also confirmed his failure. This undead was not under his control, it had taken all of his power to bring him back. Even the three warriors could see that he had messed up, and they went for their blades. It was too late.

"What. . . have you done to me!?" The booming voice tore into their heads, through their mind. The necromancer held up his hand as if to cast a shielding spell as a reflex, momentarily forgetting that all of his magic was drained. Fire exploded out from the skeleton's bony fingers as four mortal screams filled the halls of the crypt, only to be swallowed up by the vast desert above.

Skills:
Arcana
History
Investigation
Perception
Deception
Persuasion

Personality:
He is very methodical and calculating. Also, very curious when it comes to something he doesn't know. Especially when it comes to magic. In life he was a good person, and always tried to help those whom couldn't help themselves. But, since his undeath his emotions and humanity are just a memory. Trying to cope with this and be a good person is something he is struggling with, wondering to himself whether he should just stop caring about humanity altogether.

Equipment:
Since my character knows magic, he would have some spellbooks along with his personal journal, including ink and the like for writing.
Spell components
Empty vials to collect samples.
Rose Family Crest ring, as a necklace tied around his neck with a leather strap and hangs hidden under his tunic.
Map of the realm.

@Brand

Just to clarify, I'm not trying to play an evil litch character. This character was a good person in life as well as a mage, and is simply a raised undead with his former consciousness. But since he is undead, emotions are very dulled along with his empathy, despite his good character. He wants to be of use in the world again, but has to struggle to find his place and also deal with those that despise his kind, which is why I chose the illusion magic. I'm hoping I'll be able to disguise myself as a human at least for a short duration of time to help with mingling in populated areas if not now but later in game. Also, since he has been dead for so long, places aren't like how he remembers. Maybe towns or landmarks he had known are no longer there, and so forth.

Here's my application. Sorry it took so long.

Name: Othuoy

Gender: undefined

Age: 34

Race: Gargoyle

Appearance: Standing at a not so impressive 5'9", Othuoy is far from being particular in terms of height and can easily hide himself in a dense crowd. However the same cannot be said about his skin: It is of a pale, gray-ish complexion with irregular variations in hue that does not lack some eery semblance with stone. Also it is leathery and a tad more rigid than a human's. Overall body proportions are normal, but his hands and feet exhibit claws which can both be very sharp or blunt, depending on if he has decided to cut them or not. His eyes don't have any visible iris, but instead comprise a pair of large, monochromatic dark orbs. Hair is there, even long but almost white. He has no beaks, but massive, wound horns that, starting from his forehead, grow backwards in a wide arc. Othuoy is extremely muscular all over the place and outweighs much taller individuals with his unnaturally dense, packed body. The pair of massive, almost bat-like wings also goes into this equation.

In an human environment he tries to make much of himself as invisible and unconspicuous as he can. It starts with tucking his wings close to his body and wrapping a coat around it, including a large hood to make his horns disappear in the shadows beneath it. Sometimes he even applies paint to his face since looking very pale is better than looking very... stoned.

Nationality: Outsider

Magic: Othuoy is not capable of casting magic.

Backstory: Gargoyles still pose a significant mystery to contemporary scholars. What is known is that their bodies truly originate from the statues carved by dedicated chiselers in order to be attached to sacred buildings, but the process of one of them coming alive has never been observed as of yet. Undoubtedly magic is involved, but since no maniac has been identified who could be capable and willing to pull off such a feat it is assumed that their birth is a very rare event caused by a quirk of nature -- or some kind of spell that has been cast onto the world before the writing of history.

In any case this pretty much deprives every of the species' members of anything that could be considered an ordinary childhood or familiar bonds. Othuoy has neither of them. He has been thrown into the world by sheer chance and exactly the way he still is physically, trying to survive in an environment that not seldomly regards him as a beast or as an attractive object to study. Since it took him long to try and learn the human language without any help, he was unable to remember the name of the village he started off. He has never returned in time to see it again before its downfall in one of the many acts of war.

He has survived all of it so far and even with little bloodshed. Due to the rarity of his kind, contacts with other gargoyles have been very sparse and he currently has noone around him that he could truly call a close friend except for one person. Her name is Orla Lafayette, a noble woman who takes great pride in her magic. It's kind of a symbiosis: She has an unique opportunity to study one of the great magical oddities the world has to offer while he has a place he can take refuge at, have a meal and even receive care for any wounds sustained. That doesn't stop him from trying to make contact with other individuals though, but so far those attempts have not been very successful.

On his many travels he is usually seen alone. He travels a lot, eager to see other places of the mysterious world noone had ever explained to him as much as a mother or father would do.

Skills:
  • Athletics
  • Acrobatics
  • Animal Handling
  • Medicine
  • Survival
  • Persuasion

Personality:
Othuoy is a very self-sufficient individual, strong-willed but with a fair share of pessimism being his steady companion. That doesn't mean he'd be hesitant in any way, he's just not the type who breaks in jubilance just because there is a plan. Instead he's prone to focus in on the risks. In general it is relatively easy to reach him, but he still has some deficits when it comes to some social customs he could hardly ever pick up any experience with. One of those weak spots are large crowds -- he hates them, they make his stress level blast through the top and urge him to leave. Overall one can say that he lacks experience, but certainly not intelligence. He's quite adaptive in terms of logic and mathematics, even though he'd write down many things a bit different than others would for he practically has been an almost complete self-educator for the vast majority of his life.

Equipment:
  • Thick woolen coat, impregnated with an alchemistic concoction to make it resistant to dirt and water and with a large hood attached to it.
  • Riding horse: While he can fly short distances, it still is a very useful asset.
  • Food and water. A lot of it.

Appearance: Tall and thin, with pale skin and long inky black hair with an eyepatch over his right eye.
Nationality: Outsider

As he became a man he sought work and tutelage from both ally and foe, learning hard and painful lessons along the way. Still, he yearned for even greater strength, so that he could live his life however he wished. No matter what any would say or do to try and deny him.
