A mortal realm has formed in the wake of the Primordials' birth. Time began his slow march around the world, and placed his eye in the void. This became the sun and it's gaze ever circles the world. Time chases his eye forever, his cold blue palm outstretched, reaching for his eye. This is the moon and will never catch the sun. 
	Life and Death became lovers. Life filled the world with all manner of creatures, man being the most impressive. Death became jealous and began his work. This was how Life and Death parted ways, each retiring to their own realms to continue their work.
	Chaos observed all of these events in great boredom. Eventually he fell asleep and from his dreams sprang the first divine beings. The first Gods were born...


Welcome!


This is a role play about gods and creation, and the drama that is inevitable between all powerful beings. The stage has been set with the creation of the mortal realm, and each Primordial occupied with their eternal tasks. This game is intended to be a fun sand-box sort of thing with any number of players joining. Give the guidelines a quick read, fill out the Application, submit in the OOC tab and wait for acceptance. Feel free to PM me with any questions or criticism! -@Polybius


I. Your god must have a clear 'Domain' This is the source and relevance of your power and a clever player might use this too great effect.

II. Over time, your domain can change/altered and added too. You must be clever in how you adjust your domain. For instance, the god of Oceans might to decide to include Trade or Storms in his domain. How does this happen? Write an IC about this transition!  

III. Your god must have AMBITION and CHARACTER. This is key in the dramatic narrative. Is your god evil? Benign? Disgustingly pure and good? Make sure you give the other players a strong sense of what drives your character and stick to that characterization. Gods are not infallible and can change over time.  

IV. Time will progress in this game. We begin in the ancient era. There are no great civilizations yet. An IC post by me (or potential co-GMs) will move the timeline ahead. Eventually this world will end. Maybe a new one will begin.

V. Please don't be a dick. Don't control other players creations or characters without express permission communicated in the OOC tab. This game is about writing an interesting narrative and hopefully creating a world, not winning!

VI. You may create anything as a divine being as long as it falls (somewhat) under your domain. (Certain exceptions apply, see the Assumptions hider below) 

VII. This game might require a co-GM and cartographer. If interested PM me!


1. Mortal creatures including humans already exist, but there are no great civilizations just yet. 
2. Gods are immortal, but may be killed. 
3. The Primordials are busy. Don't bother them, especially Time and Chaos :)
4.  In the ancient Era, players may create a good sized chunk of the world including: mortal races, monsters, cities, kingdoms etc. We have a stage, we just need some actors. 
5. You MUST ask/talk about your creations in the OOC before your IC post. This is a little insurance for me and other players. 
6. Keep track of your creations in your Character Profile under the CHAR tab. Update frequently. 
7. Once accepted, you may create any number of gods with the following requirements: You must have 3+ posts IC from your original god. The new god must also be accepted by the GM.

Deity Name: (A single official name, what the other gods might call your character. You can include epithets that mortals might use)
Domain: (Keep it general, and simple. Think carefully about this because it is the limit of your power)
Appearance: (You may use a portrait. I prefer art or images of ancient depictions. )

Realm: (Your residence in the immortal world. Give a brief description and a name. You can add to this over time if you wish)
Personality:( How does your god act? What are his flaws? Weaknesses? Ideals? Write as much as you want)
Other: (Include any extra info you think other players should know about your god.)

Here is a character I am working on: 

Cimeru

The Salt-blooded , Greatwaters

God of Oceans

Realm: Helikal, The Spiral Caverns. 
An underground palace surrounded by the world waters. All oceans lead to Helikal, but no mortal may reach it without divine guidance. The chambers of Helikal shift and change, as the ocean, as often as Cimeru's temperament. Only Cimeru's Coral throne remains consistent.

Personality:A manic god in the ancient era. Cimeru's temper flairs and subsides as the tides. His greatest weakness is his attention span and obsessions. His creations might entertain him for a while but this is fleeting fascination. He pays homage to all of the Primordial beings, but this too is dependent on his mood. For Cimeru, nothing is permanent and this is true of his creations and his personality. 

Other: Cimeru was one of the first divine beings, and quickly formed the great ocean that surrounds the mortal realm...

Wasn't entirely sure if I could've found a correct image depicting 'ancient art' of a mildly Lovecraft inspired being, so I hope an image and a brief description is acceptable.

Iva'Krorh

The white star, Illuminator

Domain:
God of Knowledge

Appearance:


Typically, Iva'Krorh is depicted as a pure white being with a crown or wreath of horns of some sort extending from their head. Curiously, they are never depicted as either male or female, often appearing with traits of either. One thing across all his depictions however, is the gods lack of facial features.

Realm:
Cy'Lathak, The Library of Eternity

Located far, far, away from civilization at the supposed edge of the world sits Cy'Lathak. A place where all the knowledge of the world supposedly converges and is catalogued, filed away by The White Star. One can reach it without divine guidance, but it is hidden from the world beyond a frigid sea, past vicious white storms, and guarded by primordial beasts and puzzles and challenges only those with wit and insight could win against. Only those with a true lust for knowledge will ever reach it, and Cy'Lathak will welcome any such person.

The Library itself is a simple, single building for now...but surely, as more knowledge is generated, it shall become grander.

Personality:
Iva'Khror is about as stable as a nuclear reactor. The god can't help itself, in their constant lust and striving for all knowledge, his sanity seems to have taken a bit of a hit. Perhaps it was never there to begin with. Regardless, they desire one thing, and one thing only. Knowledge above all, no matter what it is.

Iva'Krorh seems to take great pleasure in meddling in the affairs of mortals and other gods, offering them knowledge for a price, or simply seeing what a peasant would do with the power to slay kings. His direct interest however, is difficult to achieve, but if they have deemed something interesting, they will refuse to let it go until they have thoroughly exhausted it. Its experiments can often cause trouble.

Other:
One of the youngest Gods, if not the youngest. Once they were born, he quickly set about learning all he could about the mortal world and delivering select pieces of knowledge to humans.

@Rune_Alchemist I like this dude. I love how his library is expanded with new knowledge. I'm curious to see how you use this god and what you have in mind for him. To get some clarity on this gods domain a few questions: 

 What knowledge is he the collector of? Mortal knowledge? Divine knowledge? 
 I'm understanding that The White Star is a curator of knowledge and not the 'maker' of knowledge correct? 
 Also, I've noticed in your description that you refer to him in the plural form. I don't know if this is oversight from a scavenged character race from another RP, but might want to fix that so it's not confusing. It's one dude right? :)

Deity Name: Ferran
Domain: Metal

Whenever he is not within the Deep Castle, he tends to wear a muddy cloak that completely covers his body, and magically obscures his face with darkness.

Realm: The Deep Castle 

From the outside, the Deep Castle appears to a dirt hovel. However within the hovel there is a staircase leading down. The next floor down is a circular cavernous room made of carved stone and houses a giant stone door that guards the entrance to the deep castle proper. This floor is also guarded by four metallic golems. The next floors, in order, are composed of bronze, iron, silver, gold, and then platinum. On the final floor, below the platinum level, is the Deep Forge, which is composed of rock and molten metal. 

Personality: Ferran is patient and meticulous. He is both slow to anger and hard to please. While he can malleable in his stances, it normally takes him a long time to reach a position, and even longer time to change his position. He has a certain degree of respect for mortals, but expects them to earn his favor with care and diligence as opposed to flattery or sacrifice. Ferran always tries to busy himself with projects, whether it is building a kingdom or forging a sword, he takes great pride in the act of creation, and seeks to encourage the skilled to do the same. 

Other: An early deity who created metal, and hide it deep within the earth.

Deity Name: Dirka, goddess of magic
Domain: Magic
Appearance: 


Realm: The Rift, a domain of pure magic. Labyrinthine corridors lead are it's connections to the mortal realm. It is inhabited by the favorite casters and the constructs she makes. Those with an apt mind can do or create anything at a thought.
Personality: Dirka is an intelligent being, always experimenting with magic to create new things. She does however do seem-ably random acts just for the hell of it, and constantly do things that people don't understand. She does have morals and doesn't like really evil things or the miss-use of magic, and often sends the souls of evil casters to a place in the Rift that breaks minds and torments the people that miss use magic. Those that piss her off are likely to have a very bad and/or short life.
Other: She loves anything that invents something new. It's the best way to get on her good side.

Probably going to revise and rewrite some things but here is the first taste:

Ragnagedon

The ruiner

Domain: God of Fire
Appearance: Ragnagedon has two forms. One he uses to approach mortals to offer them his ‘gifts’ or when he approaches or is approached by his brothers and sisters. He makes an attempt to look more human and approachable. As he does not hate his siblings or the humans that truly invoke his name. However, when it comes to delivering the eternal promise of ruin Ragnagedon will turn into his fiery dragon shape and set forth.

Realm: Verzak, the Ruin-Spire Wastes
Verzak is not hard to find. In fact, one does not need any divine guidance to reach it. They do have to be prepared. It is located in the middle of a vast, terrible desert. Literally crowned by huge, stone spires. Within the heat is unlivable. As unwarded, unprotected flesh would literally sizzle and melt over time. The ground if broken and fissured. Massive rivers of lava change their course constantly and large volcanoes explode and get reduced to rubble. The winds are ever bellowing the eternal flames and carry the blackened clouds of ash around. The land is eternally changing. No building could stand here for long. Within Ragnagedon rules from the only constant in this cursed land. A massive volcano towering over all others. Within are his vast chambers filled with lava and place for whatever divine objects, creatures or other things.

Personality:
Ragnagedon is often considered a mad god for his own beliefs. While it is a fact that nearly all gods were born from Chaos, he does not hold that as truth. No, he was made by Life and Death. Yet hates both of them with a fiery conviction. While amongst the older ones of his siblings, Ragnagedon has not yet found a way to enrage his father, Death. However there are many legends of him bringing ruin to life to spite his mother. Ragnagedon is utterly indiscriminate in his destruction. Child or elder, it does not matter. When the blue fire dragon descends all perish in a fiery blaze. Luckily for the common folks, Ragnagedon has only descended twice upon the world so far.

While he is a very violent god, he is not a god without his own sense of twisted love. The forsaken and the desperate appeal to him. For they have nothing left to lose but their lives. And should they forfeit that freely, he will pull them in a destructive embrace. Granting them blessings that will inevitably destroy them.

When it comes to his siblings he hates most of them. He sees Cimeru as one of his two opposites. The Ocean God is one of the few that can quell his raging flames. For this, Ragnagedon hates him. The twisted Iva’Krorh holds no special place to him. Ferran and Dirka are creator gods, shaping the world through metal or magic. For that he hates them. Sveiand is by all accounts his twin and opposite. The Cold One holds no special place in Ragnagedon’s heart though. As he would rather see the world burn than freeze over. Never the less, he feels like he has no personal quarrels with the Pure. The God of Fire does not actually know that Hayim exists. As he is so small in shape and (to Ragnagedon) consequence. Though there is little doubt, should the God of Fire learn of the Flower of Life. He would chase it to the end of the world and back again. Another deity that Ragnagedon does not know is Oao  of the Darkness. Finally there is Arda. Who forced the gods to release Ragnagedon once before upon the world as executioner. He relished the destruction, but holds no special hatred towards the Goddess of Love. At least not in the same way he hates Ferran, Dirka and any other creator gods.

Other: Ragnagedon is an older god. While not the first, he has been brooding most of his time at the Ruin-Spire wastes.

Basically, any knowledge Iva can get his hands on. Mortal, Divine, he wants it all. Whether it be how to make fire, or a certain other Gods weakness, he will file it away for later use and barter it with other gods and mortals who desire it should they pay sufficient price. Whatever that price may be.

And you'd be correct. He's not currently an 'Inventor' or one who gives mortals 'inspiration' if you will. He just gathers, catalogues, and has his creations experiment with it to generate new 'knowledge'. Perhaps later he'd gain those domains. Of course, he is likely going to give mortals knowledge already in his library if it strikes his fancy.

And ha, sorry about that. I was mostly trying to stick to his own themes about Iva not technically having a gender, and his own slightly not to stable mental faculties, but if you'd prefer I can stop that.

@Dealdric I'll accept magic but we need to establish some ground rules for what sorts of magic can exist in the mortal realm. Also, I would prefer if you hold off on adding the madness domain. Maybe this could be a good plot for your character...does magic use lead to inevitable madness?

@A Lowly Wretch Go for it. I'll say to you what I told Dealdric. Darkness is perfect, drop the primal fear domain (for now). This would be another opportunity for developing character (and domain). Darkness is inevitably related to primal fear. 

 All the characters are great so far. Keep it up guys.

Okay, and that was my thought yes when it comes to madness. I was thinking that magic has a price sorta thing, and using it could harm you or if you did something wrong in a ritual or spell, it could even kill you. I was also thinking that those that pray to her, if they are in her favor, may have her blessing to have a more likely chance of success. 

What do you think of the idea?

Appearance:
He has many forms for many an occasion - as any respectable deity should in his opinion. These will change as his portfolio expands and the RP progresses.

Realm:

Niflheim, Home of Mist
Niflheim has not yet been visited by mortals due to its remote location in formidable surroundings. Located on the frozen sea encircled by the North Crown, this vast floating ice cap, calves monstrous ice bergs and is sculpted by biting winds. Sveiand’s realm is as beautiful as it is deadly - not that anyone has visited in a while. Ferocious blizzards and blankets of snow in ever changing drifts make navigation impossible. This protects the solitude and purity of the very concept of cold himself, in a sprawling villa complex of ice. 

Personality:
Sveiand is a god who seeks to find his own happiness. He knows this may be a challenge given possible pre-conceptions of his abilities but he is determined to make a name for himself whether this be for better or worse. He may come across as harsh and cold (pun intended) but he is just brutally honest and will say it how it is. He's more than happy to work with other deities but will always be looking out for number one. 
Cold and closed he is seen by many as a harbinger of death, yet he yearns for companionship that few can provide in his realm of ice and snow and therefore lures many a male companion in the long winter months with the promise of shelter from the very situation he has caused. The designer of snowflakes, Svei dislikes disorder and chaos, preferring order and calm in the home that he can one day provide joy where he currently causes suffering. Given his treatment he is quite vengeful and shallow his attitude can turn quickly like a winter storm. But could he actually be the father of a great people thriving in cold climes? Worshipped for cleansing disease and pests? Revered for purifying water? Only history yet to be written can tell...

Other:
Born of the universe at the same time as Ragnagedon, whereby so far they have kept the world in balance.

@Dealdric I'm gonna trust you on this one as magic has the potential to be an absolutely overpowered domain. I like the idea of having a drawback to mortals using power. I'm imagining shamanic magin in the ancient era, deeply ritualistic and time consuming. I think Chaos would be really interested in this, letting magic spread to places freely. If someone would wake him from his slumber...
