October 31st, 1943 - Just keep swimming? (Yeah I got nothing lol)

Ben looked over and took the girls hand, getting up to his feet. Everyone in the Carnivale rushed forward to start pulling back metal and try to clean up things. Jonesy laid there as Libby rushed over to him, followed shortly behind by Samson. "Thanks," Ben said but smirked a bit looking over towards Gilbert before he walked off. He could understand not wanting him to kill more things on the grounds and glanced towards Bart. "If you can, please do," he said motioning towards Jonesy.

Jonesy groaned as Libby pulled his head into her lap. His leg was messed up pretty bad from being impaled by the metal before he had fallen. "Please help him," Libby asked as she looked over towards Bart.

Samson quirked a brow and then looked over towards Ben, waddling over to the boy slowly. "They're like you?" Samson asked and Ben shook his head a bit.

"Seems so, well that one is," he said pointing towards the kitchen house. "These? Cousins maybe?" he said towards Samson and the short man looked confused a bit but nodded.

"So Goliath?" Samson asked.

"Brother maybe?" Ben said as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. Taking a long puff before holding out the pack towards Alexandria. "Not for her it wasn't," he said, finally getting back to what she had said when she offered him a hand up. "I'm Ben, this is Samson and you are?" he asked.

Samson looked up at the girl and took his hat off. "Ma'am," he said in a kind voice before turning his attention back towards Bart and waiting to see if he would help Jonesy.

Andromeda Aldrich

Location: Ville au Camp - Carnival Set Up
Skills: N/A

"You guys had the mutant master of magnetism too?" Andromeda asked James, before she couldn't help but break out into an honest smile. As much as she couldn't relate her own timeline to the experiences of the others present, that little commonality - that was enough to make her feel better. She then blushed slightly and tugged on the ends of her hair as James told her that her albino looks looked good on her. "...Thanks," she said, giving James a peck on the cheek that could be read as flirtatious or affectionate. Andromeda made sure of that.

She then took a few steps backwards and grabbed onto a piece of the net, going to help James load it back into the truck since the others seemed to be busy. Faith and Gilbert had headed back into the kitchen house. She couldn't help but read Gilbert's approach as an attempt at another power move - the only way to properly combat what Management had just done would be to simply ignore it and move on with one's life, business as normal.

Bartholomew Rosecliff

Location: Ville au Camp (Main House) - Carnival Setup
Skills: Healing

Bart nodded at The Hat's command, and knelt down next to Jonesy, "Let me take a look." He said, inspecting his leg. He still didn't like gore or blood at all, and his head was dizzy at the sight, but he had a job to do, and if he did it right, it'd be gone soon. Laying his hands on the wound, he felt that familiar tingle in the back of his mind as the wound started to stitch itself back together. It was slow at first, and Bart just sat there, trying to focus his eyes on anything other than the gash into her leg. He quietly said, "Shouldn't be long now, just hold still for me, okay?" The tingle in the back of his mind started to die off as the leg finally finished healing, leaving only a small scar on the leg.

"There we go." He said, finally taking his hands off the man, and turning to face Ben. "And I'm Bartholomew Rosecliff, MD." He said jokingly with a smile. Seeing that things had calmed down, he snapped his fingers and said, "Oh!" and reached into his pockets, pulling out the wooden pegs. "I almost forgot, right before the wheel came down, I found these on the ground." He explained. "Do you recognize them?" He asked. If he had to guess, these were part of whatever was supposed to hold the wheel together, but that didn't sound right to him, wooden pegs holding together a massive Ferris Wheel like that. It was probably nothing, but it would be remiss of him not to ask anything, given the circumstances.

Sophia Harris

Location: Ville au Camp Carnival Setup.
Skills: Sense Acuity (hearing)

Sophia gave Alexandra a smile and nodded towards her once her fellow Paradox accepted her hand to help her back up to her feet, she looked over her shoulder as Gilbert and Faith shortly started to walk off towards the kitchen house. Assuming that they had gone off to make the food that they were initially going to have before the whole thing happened. Sophia took a step back from Libby and Jonesy as they asked Bart to heal the injured man. "I'll help you with putting the canvas thing back." Sophia offered as she made her way towards James and Andromeda and helped them move it back.

Sophia still wasn't really sure what to think of these people and eyed the man named Samson and Ben, as the two of them talked, her curiosity getting the better of her and started to listen in on their conversation with her enhanced hearing, which had been very useful so far. Sophia started to raise an eyebrow as she heard them speak, tuning out the other conversations and the carnies moving the remains of the ferris wheel off. Hearing the words cousin and brother, referring to them obviously when they sprung into action to save their own.

Sophia would like to find out more about them certainly, even more curious who 'Management' was seeing the albino woman who moved the others to safety. Sophia tuned off her ability looking at James and Andromeda as they spoke and nodded. "The X-Men comic books were good as well as the movies to." Sophia said as she tried to move the canvas back to where they had gotten it from originally.

Alexandra Andonova

When you meet someone for the first time,
that's not the whole book. That's just the first page.
- Brody Armstrong

Location: Ville au Camp (The Grounds) - Carnival Setup
Skills: N/A

Alexandra smiled at Ben as he took her hand and let her help him to his feet. "Sure thing--" she replied, before trailing off as she followed his gaze over to Gilbert. Her brows furrowed lightly in confusion, seeing that the Emendator was simply walking away from the scene. She didn't really understand the logic behind it. Weren't these unannounced strangers within the loop? Maybe they weren't strangers to Emendator, or at the very least, he obviously didn't deem them as a threat if he felt comfortable enough to just leave them to their own devices and with the other Paradoxes.

She sort of just mentally shrugged and returned her attention to what was happening immediately around her. Bart was being asked to heal Jonesy, and now some short dude was waddling over to them. The man's words to Ben perhaps didn't come as too much of a shock considering the display of immense power she had seen only moments ago from one of those in their ranks. She crossed her arms over her chest as her gaze flitted between the too men as they talked. So, these people were akin to something like Emendators or Paradoxes? Is that what they were cryptically implying? Curious.

She arched a brow questioningly at Ben when he finally returned his attention to her. However, she didn't press the matter as he offered her a cigarette. She stared at it for a moment, before shrugging and taking one. "What, the albino chick in the Management trailer?" she asked what he was referring to as she lit the cigarette. She took a drag of the cigar, before speaking again. "Alexandra," she answered. She nodded her head to Samson, before following his gaze to Bart, who was currently using his powers to heal Jonesy.

A proud smirk came to her features when he was successful at healing the man, leaving all but a small scar. She turned back to Ben, the smirk still evident on her face. "So, can any of your people do that?" she jabbed playfully, before taking another puff of the cigar. Her gaze moved back to Bart as he held out some wooden pegs. She arched a brow, before looking back at Ben.

Gilbert Summers, "The Hat"

Location: Ville au Camp (Kitchen House)
Skills: Perception, Cooking

The kitchen appeared to have been used recently. It was cleaned back up, though telltale signs let him know that someone had been in there preparing breakfast for themselves. There was nothing wrong with it, of course. The tall Emendator merely noted that a few things were not as he had them previously, before preparing the room to make pancakes and sausage. Briefly, a thought went through his head and he ceased his leisurely mise-en-place because of it. Instead, he reached into a pantry and pulled out a loaf of raisin bread. Four thick slices dropped into a toaster, followed by a lever pushed that lowered said slices into tiny oven slots. When he could see the red-orange light glow softly from the top of the blocky metal appliance, Gilbert turned to Faith.

"So, let us have that talk." he motioned to the bread, now in its embryo stage of becoming yummy toast. "That should prove an adequate timer. Let me begin by saying that I agreed with your initial instinct. There is much that is wrong, or a least unexplained, here. I have little trust for these people so far, though I believe wholeheartedly that the are here for some specific purpose." Gilbert strode to the counter and removed the top from a butter dish. He set the yellow rectangle upon the table and continued, "I did not agree with your execution of that instinct. If there is a threat, intentional or otherwise, that comes from this carnival, it is best to 'circle out wagons', as I believe the expression goes. Hide our suspicions from those we suspect. Confer quietly among ourselves until a proper course of action can be established. We are a team, Faith, even if none of the Paradoxes truly believe that yet."

Gilbert peered into the toaster, hoping to produce the sweet and crunchy toast with power of will alone. Sadly, he did not possess that power, more was the pity for his breakfast. "And incidentally, I am suspicious of that accident they had. A truly Machiavellian intelligence might have set that up as both a means to flush out those of us with abilities that could be put to the emergency, and as a demonstration of their own formidable abilities." He shook his head, his eyes widening with amazement at the memory of what just occurred, "That was impressive."

As if on cue, the toaster released its substitute breakfast, one slice popping fully out and landing on its side. Gil waved it away with a quick, "It does that sometimes." Butter, toast, raisins; everything a growing Emendator needs. Just not what he wanted that morning. He buttered two slices and held them so as to not sully his hand with partially melted runoff. Gilbert motioned to the remaining toast as an offer to Faith, and took a single bite. Around a mouthful of the yummy stuff, he added, "I had hoped that feigning noninterest and returning to my morning would be a proper tactic to avoid tipping our hand, but I have neglected to consider the untested Paradoxes still among them." Another bite down, and he began to walk toward the door. "We should collect our people. Assist how we can, and collect our people. Let us eat on the go."

Cramming the rest of the first slice of raisin toast into his mouth, Gilbert exited the Kitchen House and began a trudge back to the Carnival setup.

James Grady

Location: Ville au Camp (Carnival Setup)
Skills: Perception

"Hells yeah, we had us some Magneto!" responded James, glad to be speaking about something other than Paradox business for once in a great while. "I usedta love me some X-Men comics back in the day! Well hell, all of 'em: Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, them independent labels, an' whatnot. Shame the damn world had t'end. They was just gettin' into the Marvel movies good..." James gave a quick nod in Sophia's direction, acknowledging her initial mention of the films.

The fact that a young woman just kissed his cheek finally caught up to him. He crossed his arms and began kicking the toe of his boot into the grass, giving his best "Aw, Shucks" impression. It was the first time in quite a while that someone had shown him any affection of any type, and he was out of practice being on the receiving end of it. He felt blood rush to his face that would have been a full on reddening if his skin was naturally lighter of hue. "Why thank you, Miss Andy." he finally got out after a slightly embarrassed few seconds. He filled his hands with net and looked back toward Andromeda, "How'd I earn that, anyways? Case a repeat might be forthcomin' in the way future, I mean." He smiled at his own attempt at pleasantry and got himself back to task.

Faith Masters

Location: Kitchen House
Skills: N/A

Faith had more or less resigned herself to helping Gil cook breakfast, so it was a pleasant surprise when he, instead, laid out what he had been feeling all day. It echoed her own thoughts. She was happy he agreed with her, if for no other reason than it felt good knowing she had someone on her side more or less. And this carnival coming in just as Eve and Alicia leave? Faith never believed in coincidences.

And the accident? The display of power? Yeah, it was all too much. She grabbed the toast offered and ate some, realizing it had been a while since she enjoyed in the simplicity of a slice of toast and butter. "I'm willing to work as a team Gil. Ever since training was over with and even before we got our feedback, I wanted to be a better team. But keeping things hidden from us is sketchy, even if I understand it."

Faith followed suit behind Gil, watching the carnival in front of them. Eager to find out the mystery surrounding it.

October 31st, 1943 - A Game To Play

Jonesy say there on the ground, waiting for Bart to do whatever it was he was going to do. Libby looking on and running her fingers through Jonesy's hair as they waited. Once the man was healed he sat up slowly and eventually stood up. Testing the limb before nodding. "Right good, thanks," he said towards Bart before reaching out and taking the small wooden objects. "Fucking hell," he said under his breath with a bit of disgust. "Samson!" he called out.

Ben stood there and smirked a bit before shrugging. "Maybe we can," he said before taking a long pull from the cigarette he was smoking. "But didn't want to have to kill anything to fix Jonesy this time," he added before looking back over to Alexandra. "Oh her? Wouldn't waste her time."

"Hawkins!" Samson said as he stood there.

"What? I'm tired of these games. Why should I hide shit?" Ben asked.

"Cause you know Management," Samson said before turning his attention towards Jonesy who was still calling for him. Shaking his head he walked off, leaning heavy on his cane as he did.

"Bunch of bullshit in my mind," Ben muttered under his breath as Samson made his way over to Jonesy and Bart.

"What is it?" he asked and Jonesy shoved the wood to him. Looking at it he rolled it over in his short stubby fingers before looking up at Jonesy who pointed towards Bart. "Where'd you find these kid?" he asked as Jonesy reached out and took them back.

Ben huffed a bit. "Fucking family reunions," he muttered under his breath before taking another puff from his smoke. The carnies were working to clear out the mess from collapsing of the Ferris wheel as the bearded woman shut the door to Managements trailer as she came back out and started walking towards Ben. Ben caught her eye and turned around. "So, where's the grave?" he asked as he started walking away from the carnivale set up with some rather long strides.

Sophia looked between James and Andromeda as she noticed him do a small bashful gesture after the kiss and smirked a bit. "You two would make a cute couple." Sophia said teasingly as she looked back over towards the group for a moment as Bart tended to healing the injured carney. From what she had picked up on some of the conversations a few moments ago, she wasn't sure if she could trust these people or not them appearing on the same day that Evelina goes missing was a bit to coinvent. And watching the 'Management' woman suddenly stop the toppling of the ferris wheel and saving their own Alexandra.

"So what do you two think of these people?" Sophia finally asked, she didn't really trust them just yet as Sophia eyed the other carneys that were there. From the conversations she listened in on Ben seemed to have abilities like they had as well as the 'Management' woman as well. "They could be like us maybe?" She also did want to try and find out a bit more about these people as well, as she thought about asking Gilbert as well and see what he wanted to do.

Bartholomew caught Alexandra's smirk, and returned it in kind, making brief eye contact. He liked feeling useful, and healing being the thing only he can do really helped with that. However, once Jonesy took the pegs from his hands, his demeanor changed a little. A curious look crossed his eyes, as he tried to parse the man's sudden reaction. He clearly knew something about these, and the man cursing made him believe they were somehow pretty bad. He made a "hmm" as they went back and forth with each other, before finally returning to him. Instead of an explanation, they started questioning him, which only served to make him more suspicious of these people.

Not wanting to tilt his hand too much, he kept his concerns internal for now, and calmly said, "I found them over there, laying on the ground, just when I got over here." He gestured over to the ground a few feet away from them. Thinking it maybe a good idea to report what he found to The Hat, he excused himself, "Now, if I'm not longer needed, I'll be off." He said, and walked back to where he found the pegs before, and grabbed another off the ground. Seeing the Emendator was on his way back, he waved over to him, saying ,"Hey Gil, found something you might wanna know about." He called to him, starting to close the distance between the two of them, holding the peg out to show him.

Gilbert Summers, "The Hat"

Location: Ville au Camp (Kitchen House -> Carnival Setup)
Skills: Perception, Cooking

Gilbert walked as casually as he dared, moving back to the grounds that they had set aside for the carnival to set up. He kept his posture and tone of voice as nonchalant as possible, despite his growing lack of trust. It was not directed at everyone involved with the Carnival, however - Gil had the sight and historical recall that every Emendator possessed, and had utilized it earlier. Most of these people were average, hard working individuals who made a passable living as Carny Folk. Not his first choice for a living, personally. Yet it must afford certain perks and freedoms generally not visited upon your standard Joe the Plumber or cubicle dweller. There was a definitive "To Each Their Own" opinion about it, as Gilbert had himself lived under many, many different circumstances depending upon the culture he had blended into over his long years.

As he walked, he attempted to address Faith's concerns, "The use of he words 'hidden' and 'sketchy' are premature, Faith. You should understand, we are a team. Emendators and Paradoxes, for longer than empires have flourished. Many times longer than the reckoning of a single human memory. Part of being in a team is playing your role within it. Trust that we have the best interests in mind and act toward them." Gilbert looked to Faith with raised eyebrow, "And understand that we do sometimes make mistakes. It has happened before. If you believe that we are doing just that, reserve yourself until we might speak of it away from outsiders. Disagreement in mixed company makes us look weak. The appearance of weakness is a tool at our disposal; dangerous if misused."

His voice lightened to something almost cheery and he summarized, "Have a little faith, Faith." The broad smile returned, and he realized that they were then standing amid the carnival setup. Bright eyes scanned the crowd, easily picking out the Paradoxes where they stood, going about the tasks he had put them to just earlier. One such Paradox approached him; it was Bart, and he came bearing a gift. Gilbert took the wooden peg, eyeing it with scrutiny. His gaze went back to the hulk of disarticulated metal that was the Colossus, and back to the slender piece of wood in his hand. "Thank you, Bartholomew. Keep near, we are gathering our people." Gil slipped the peg into a pocket. That would be the object of a talk later.

In the back of his mind, unexpressed, there was a nagging question as to the location of one of the Emendators. It was very much unlike The Watch to go missing - he was the one who was a stickler for schedule and punctuality in all things, even as Gilbert's views were a lot more relaxed unless circumstances dictated otherwise. Evie was gone to parts unknown, Nancy had her own task outside of the Loop to perform, Drem had been lost to them permanently. These were things he knew. Giosue? His absence was worrisome without prominent explanation.

James Grady

Location: Ville au Camp (Carnival Setup)
Skills: Perception

It was on James's mind, too. He'd only seen one Emendator that morning past the very first of it. This whole, seemingly unnatural event was made even more sinister by the lack of Emendators trying to oversee it. Oh, he'd trained with Gilbert near enough, and would follow the man into the jaws of Hell if the tall man told him they could fight their way back out. That was what he did. A damn good trainer and a damn good Field Marshall. But the more domestic end of things? He'd seen the guy destroy a kitchen like a pro. If there wasn't a task at had or training afoot, James had often heard obnoxiously loud snoring coming from Gilbert's workshop late in the morning, as if the man didn't feel like walking back to the main house and was sleeping in besides. The Watch was unaccounted for, and he felt the need for answers.

But first, he needed to cram that net back into the truck. Luckily, they were almost done. James was, in fact, just shoving the last bit back into place when Sophia made her comment about he and Andromeda. Him being close to anyone wasn't something he had thought about for a very long time, even from before he died. Yet, after all he had been though, all the carnage and the hurt (both inflicted and received), after waves of hope and despair punctuated with horror, murder, and finally the brutal training at the hands of immortals to make him into what he had become... Getting a kiss on the cheek and having Sophia make a casual comment made him embarrassed. At least he could take this as a sign that he hadn't lost his humanity yet. He clung to it, even if he really wasn't so much anymore.

James's initial reaction was to think that he was a little old for someone like Andromeda. He probably had a decade on the woman. But did that have the same kind of meaning in this place, with these people? It was a reminder of how young they all were, comparatively. And if they remained as they were for ten years, twenty, a century? Belladonna didn't look a day over his own age, younger even. But she was a few hundred years old at least. What began as a bit of boyishness turned into a full-blown existential question. What were they, anymore? The word "Paradox" was looking more and more appropriate as time passed. The only comment on it that he would make on the whole situation was a noncommittal, "C'mon now, Sophie. Miss Andy can do way better than me, an' she knows it. I'm just grateful she don't mind me hangin' around."

Her next question, James took seriously. His voice a little quieter, he answered, "These people... They hidin' somethin. They're okay - seem cool enough - but somethin' ain't bein' said what needs to. But I'll tell you, I just don't think they're here to do us no hurt, neither. Tell you what I wanna know, and it's a whole other subject: Where's Gio at?"

Alexandra smirk grew a bit as she watched Ben's reaction to her playful jab. Her head tilted a little to the side as she looked at him curiously. "Shunting ability perchance," she remarked as more of a statement than a question. As a momentary silence fell between them, she followed his suit, taking another drag of her cigarette as she watched the carnies clean up the mangled remains of the Ferris wheel. Her gaze turned back to Ben as he finally broke the silence between them. She arched a brow. The other brow then promptly shot up, her gaze snapping over to Samson at the littler man's exclamation. Her gaze flitted between the two before finally resting on Ben questioningly.

She felt some of her earlier feelings of caution resurfacing at their words. She shifted her weight to her other foot and glanced around. She let out a small breath when she spotted Gilbert returning. Good, they needed an Emendator in on this right now. Her gaze snapped back over to Ben when he mentioned, presumably, Peter's grave. How did they know about that? They hadn't had any new visitors here since Peter's untimely death, and she didn't really see the Emendators sharing that knowledge around to others. As Ben suddenly walked off, she put out her smoke and quickly jogged after the man. "We both nearly just died, and now you vant to go visit a grave? That's just a tad messed up, don't you think?" she responded, purposefully dodging his question in hopes of stalling him. She took a quick glance over at Gilbert then looked back at Ben with a small, tight smile.

Stupid joke aside, Gil spoke the truth. She did need to have some faith, but could anyone blame her really? The life that was so carefully established here was slowly being pulled apart and she was told to sit there and take it. Knowing Gil shared similar thoughts and feelings on the matter of Evelina's disappearance and the sudden arrival of the carnival made her less worried about what was to come.

She followed Gil outside closely, keeping an eye on the carnival itself. There was that nagging feeling of missing something. Apart from the mechanical mishap, it seemed everything else was what one would see at a carnival. Still, it made her stomach turn slightly. Bart rushed over to Gil and shared a wooden peg. Faith eyed the object, unsure what to make of it, but Gil seemed to have an understanding, at least.

"You heard the man. Come on loser, let's get the Scooby gang together and figure this out." Even despite the name, Faith tried to make it sound endearing. The little twerp grew on her.

Andromeda gave Sophia a slightly puzzled expression, before she shook her head slightly and dismissed the train of thought. It wasn't the weirdest thing she had heard of and she supposed the subject matter made sense for a series of movies and comic books. Of course, she had read more of DC than any other brand in her lifetime. And in this new lifetime, there wasn't exactly a comic book store on the grounds that they could visit to exchange the most popular volumes. "Maybe I'll tell you over a comic book," Andromeda mused to James playfully. She enjoyed his sense of humor but she wasn't going to be too straightforward with him.

At Sophia's comment, Andromeda straightened up and fixed her hair. "Not really looking to date," Andromeda chimed in, though she wasn't completely in agreement with James' self critical remark. She then glanced at the carnival people, thinking again for a moment. When she closed her eyes, she still got flashbacks to her own death - at a circus. It was such a similar atmosphere that this made her stomach churn slightly. "I'm not sure where Gio is...But as for these people, I'm afraid I'd be biased...I died at a circus," Andromeda explained.

October 31st, 1943 - Be Our Guest?

Ben looked over at Alexandra and chuckled a bit as he walked. "What? No better way to be glad to be alive than to look at something that could have been you. Puts thangs in perspective," he said as he kept strolling. "You gotta ask the right question though, especially with what you do," he added as he pushed past the old oak tree. He didn't know where the grave was he just knew it probably wasn't near where they were setting up camp right then. At least he wouldn't have let people set up a Carni show on a grave.

Stopping Ben placed his hands on his hips and looked around. Obviously trying to pick a direction but while he was looking around he added something else to what he had been saying. "You should be askin' me - what grave and how do I know there is one?" There was a slight tug at the corner of his lips as he finally looked back to her. "Tell ya what, tell me where it is and I'll answer what you should be asking."

Sam and Jonesy looked at each other. "Jonesy, go help get things back in order, go on now. Stay off the bottle," Samson warned and Jonesy nodded.

"Yup, come on Libby," was all Jonesy said before wrapping an arm around Libby and heading back towards the tents. Libby mouthed a thank you to Bart before resting her head against Jonesy as they walked.

"Wooden pegs? What the hell Samson!" Rita Sue barked.

"Hey don't be looking at me, I ain't be knowing where those came from. Any rousty worth his salt knows you don't be putting wood to metal on Colossus. Especially after what happened in Damascus," Samson said shaking his head.

"Maybe we shouldn't be hosting no show tonight Samson," Rita Sue said putting her hands on her hips and tapping her foot.

"We ain't gonna be dark, Management ain't pulled the plug yet," Samson quipped.

"She's worse than the previous one!" Rita Sue snapped before storming off. Samson let out a frustrated breath and grumbled under his breath.

"Well you never know something may happen, could find someone James." Sophia said as soon as the tarp was back in where it was where they found it, Sophia rubbed her right hand off of her dress and looked at them. "Maybe the Hat can pull out some comics to read?" She suggested, as she looked at the group of carnies as they went back to their usual duties whatever it was that they did anyway. She still wasn't sure what to even think of these people or whether they are here to attack them, or just spy on them she didn't really seem to know. She gave a slight shrug. "I don't know what to think of them." Sophia said.

Then she could see Gilbert and Faith as well in the distance, and then the mentioning on where The Watch was Sophia shrugged a bit. "I haven't seen Gio since the meeting earlier." Sophia said as she started to make her way over towards Gilbert and Faith as well seeing Bart coming up to The Hat as well. "So whats up, what are we going to be doing about these people?" Sophia asked as she gestured towards the carnies, as she looked over towards Faith and gave her a slight nod as she looked up at The Hat. Sophia then started to look around, she wasn't really sure where Alexandra had gone off to which she thought was a bit troubling as well.

Location: Ville au Camp (Carnival Setup -> Toward Main House)
Skills: Perception, History

The nagging thought of Giosue's absence weighed upon Gilbert. He could not help but make the connection between the carnival's arrival and his immediate departure. Did he know something that Gilbert did not? The older looking Emendator was not the type to just vanish, abandoning his own. The Hat knew him as a better quality person than that.

Gilbert wanted answers, and immediately. There were too many variables in play, and many of them involved persons or entities with abilities that were supernatural in nature. Despite it being a stretch of the assumed intent of his abilities as an Emendator, Gil thrust his focus into History. Recent History of the area. Very recent, and specifically about Gio's actions that day. The result was not optimal.

It started as a dull throb that quickly encompassed the whole of his head, neck, and shoulders. It radiated searing, white light, ripping through his brain like an unattended chainsaw of pissed-off lava, driving conscious thought from Gilbert and robbing him of his sight. Then it got bad.

While Gil still possessed the ability to stand, and it was wavering, he got his teeth and did his best to inform Faith and Bart that his difficulty was self-inflicted and not an attack done to him. "That was stupid, that was stupid, that was stupid..." he seethed, bringing his hands up to his head. "I am good. That was me. Need to lie down." he grabbed for a shoulder to steady himself, any one would work, then began to make his way back to the Main House. "Get our people together, okay? Give the carnival people their space for now. Need to lie down."

James Grady

Location: Ville au Camp (Carnival Setup)
Skills: Perception

"Ain't particular on the lookout neither, Miss Sophia." responded James with a neutral smile. "Still tryin' to figure out who an' what I am, myself. Ain't needin' to burden nobody down with that." He shrugged. It was a true enough statement. Then again, it was also true that, while he had no problems making good friends, it was a monumentally rare occasion for someone to get truly close to him. Such had been his life, and quite possibly now his afterlife.

One thing did get his attention, however. James gave Andromeda some scrutiny after her mention of dying at a circus. While the events of his own demise had nothing in common with hers, James did have a sense of empathy for the woman. It must be a different kind of anxiety, having to be in this place surrounded by Carny Folk. His face looked concerned and sober for a moment, and he nodded, "Alright, let's get gone, then. C'mon." Immediately springing back to a more optimistic demeanor, he glanced to Sophia and back to Andromeda, "Hey! Howsabout we get us some coffee an' such back at the Kitchen House? I'll tell ya both 'bout how I died, yeah?" James cast his gaze across the carnival grounds as a whole. In quieter voice, he concluded, "Talk about them other things, too..." The unspoken last few words in that sentence very likely had something to do with being behind closed doors. He started for the Kitchen House with casual steps.

Bartholomew Rosecliff

Location: Ville au Camp (Main House) - Carnival Setup
Skills: N/A

Bartholomew quietly nodded at The Hat when he took the peg. He was happy to be of use, no matter how in how small of a fashion that might be. He looked over at Faith, and cracked a smile. Regardless of the insult, he knew what she meant by it. "Sounds like a plan Velma." He fired back, and turned his back to Gil to walk towards the other Paradoxes. As this happened, Gil cried out in pain behind him. Quickly pivoting to look back at him, ready to spring into action, he calmed down as Gil dissuaded their fears. It sounds like whatever was happening, he'd done it to himself. "Are you sure Gil? If you're hurt maybe I could try to heal you..." He said uncertainly.

As he said this, he started to look around at the paradoxes around him. He wanted to get them all together discreetly, but stay close enough to Gil that he could take Bart up on his offer if he wanted to give it a shot. He took a step towards Alexandra. He and her by far had the best rapport, so he decided to start with her. He cleared his throat, and closed the distance between the two of them. Placing a gentle hand on her shoulder, he quietly said, "We're getting the gang together, come on." He glanced at Ben, not really having anything to say to him. Gil wanted them to be left alone, so that was exactly what he was going to do.

Alexandra Andonova

When you meet someone for the first time,
that's not the whole book. That's just the first page.
- Brody Armstrong

Location: Ville au Camp (The Grounds) - Carnival Setup ⇢ Oak Tree
Skills: N/A

Alexandra snorted at Ben's reply, shaking her head lightly as a smile played at the corners of her lips. She was coming up with some sort of witty response when the next thing he said gave her pause. Her smile faded, and her eyes narrowed marginally. He and the other carnies knew more about them than they were admitting to upfront. She was certain of it. She glanced back over in the direction of Gilbert and ended up doing a doubletake when she saw that he was ditching them again.

She mentally shook her head as she returned her attention to Ben. She stopped beside him and crossed her arms over her chest as she turned to face him. She arched a brow at him as if to say 'oh, should I now?'. She then pursed her lips, seeming to consider his proposition. However, Bart's presence interrupted her train of thought, if for the moment. She listened to what he had to say, before looking back over her shoulder in the direction that Gilbert had disappeared to. "So you say," she remarked, sounding a bit unconvinced.

She turned back to Ben, moving her lips back and forth as she mentally finalized her decision. "Fine," she blurted out. "But on one condition. You say your part first." Her lips spread into a toothy grin, and she wiggled her brows.

Andromeda Aldrich

Location: Ville au Camp - Carnival Set Up
Skills: N/A

Andromeda had to bite back a smile. While the others seemed to not be phased at all by her mentioning that she died at a circus - and that all of these carnival people were giving her subtle flashbacks to her painful death - James had true empathy. It wasn't something that she had expected or felt entitled to, yet amongst the anxiety the carnival was causing, he was giving her a good, warm sensation. She knew that she shouldn't dwell too much on her life before - but maybe talking about it with James and Sophia would help a little.

"Sure, coffee sounds good," she replied, blushing very delicately. She then glanced over, seeing that Alexandra was off bothering one of the carnival people and she had to resist the urge to roll her eyes. There was safety in numbers and they didn't know anything about these people. Sticking together with their fellow Paradoxes and the one Emendator on duty was their best bet. Hadn't she learned anything from the training they had been given? Apparently not - and the girl did seem a bit ditzy, which honestly explained some things...
