Note: Special thanks to Grey for finding awesome images that I actually like for Yoshi.

Contradictory, crude, informal, competitive, and reckless are all words that could be used to describe the up and coming boss candidate of the Vongola, Yoshiaki Sugihara. Although he is intelligent he rarely focuses on anything beyond the realm of games, even going as far as to treat his life as just another game to be played. The young man is a thrill seeker, often finding fun in training, sparring, missions or other activities. However, when left with none of the more combat oriented activities he can generally be found entertaining himself with a video game. However, when that’s not enough, he isn’t above satiating his boredom with a bit of mischief, usually in the form of berating of his friends and allies, or the occasional brawl. To him, it’s all in good fun, even if it can be a bit annoying to anyone other than him.

Apart from that, where Yoshi is concerned, one may note a general indifference towards society. That is to say, save for a few people in his life, he just doesn’t quite care. Yet, despite his biases towards the general public, he seems to abide by his own code of honor and morality that at times can surprise individuals in his life. Couple that with a somewhat skewed idea of justice and you've got a fighter willing to stick his neck out for people he doesn't know, but also a leader who isn’t afraid to strike the finishing blow on his enemies.

Overall, Yoshiaki is driven by a need for entertainment and a bit of attitude. He can be a loudmouth and a jerk, and he doesn’t always filter himself unless necessary. Yoshi doesn’t go out of his way to rebel against those in a position of power, but he isn’t one to blindly show respect to individuals simply because they are in a position of authority. He just doesn’t care to be told what to do and when he sets his mind on something he can get pretty stubborn. In cases like this, he isn’t likely to stray from a decision he may make.

// B A C K G R O U N D
Yoshiaki was born in August to an Italian/Japanese mother and Japanese father. The two had fallen in love while his mother, Analise, was on vacation in the town of Namimori visiting family. Junichirou, Yoshiaki’s father, was a young man who’d recently finished college and was just beginning his venture into the corporate world. As impressed as Analise was with his vigor and drive to improve himself, the things that made her fall in love with Junichirou were his values and the strong sense of family she got from him.

Junichirou was kind and gentle and was always there for her. It was why she was able to happily retire and focus on her life with him. They married, and moved to Kokuyo. Soon after they had a son whom they named Yoshiaki Sugihara. Not long after that, they had a daughter, Ami Sugihara.

For the first 7 years of his life Yoshi was fairly happy. He’d been given a younger sister when he was two, and though he was young, he’d taken to being an older brother fairly easily. They were inseparable. The same couldn’t be said for their parents though. Junichirou had been working longer hours, spending more time away from home and hadn’t been paying much attention to his wife or kids. When they did see him he was quick to brush them off. He’d taken to drinking, something Analise had long made clear she wasn’t happy with at home. She accepted work obligations, but he’d been bringing liquor home more often. She hit her breaking point when Junichirou, in a drunken stupor, accidentally spilled a glass on Ami.

The young girl cried as her mother carried her out the door with Yoshi’s gripping her mother’s waist tightly. Yoshi and Ami, ages seven and five respectively, were unhappy to say the least. Their parents were splitting up and their father was fighting for custody. He had a small team of lawyers backing him, he did have the money to pay for them after all, while their mother only had one. She’d been retired for years, with not much saved up. Even the help she was getting was at the behest of her family, and a benefactor who Yoshi and Ami had only met once when they were younger.

The dispute was settled, but Analise was unable to maintain custody of both of her children. She was able to keep Ami, but Junichirou’s team of lawyers was able to garner custody of Yoshi. The young boy kicked and screamed, but there was nothing else that could be done as far as legal means were concerned. Each parent was allowed visitation; weekends would alternate. Yoshi would stay with his mother and sister one week and Ami would stay with him and his father another. Junichirou still spent much of his time at work, but he’d sobered up a bit in his home life with Yoshi. The boy spent more time with his father, and though he resented the man for some of the things he’d done, he still loved him.

The first year was a cake walk. Things had gone smoothly, and Junichirou had gotten better. However, on the eve of Yoshi’s eighth birthday his father came home. He was crying, and he reeked of liquor. He’d lost his job. Junichirou spent the next few days holed up in his room. Yoshi could fend for himself for the most part; he microwaved frozen dinners and ate snacks. Under normal circumstances this would have been a child’s dream. Until his father began skipping the weekends Ami was meant to come over. Junichirou began to complain about his luck, his inability to get a job, and even the fact that he had Yoshi to worry about. It had only been about half a year, but even as young as he was, Yoshi spoke up. Junichirou lashed out, smacking Yoshi. The boy rubbed his cheek looking up at his father who seemed as shocked as he was. Yoshi ran to his room after that, but this was a turning point between the two.

After that moment the bond between Yoshiaki and his father became strained to say the least. After an initial period of avoidance between the two, things only managed to get worse. Yoshiaki’s father took to releasing his frustrations on his son and as if trying to justify himself he would argue his various standpoints. He was doing this “for Yoshi’s benefit,” to “make him stronger,” to prepare him for the “cruelty of the world.”

Yoshi continued visiting his mother. It was simple to hide his bruises and Junichirou was was smart enough not to leave marks anywhere that couldn’t be easily hidden. Yoshiaki, had developed a bit of a complex; he didn’t want to worry his mother or Ami. He kept it a secret; even now he doesn’t understand why. This went on until he was 11. One day, in an argument with his father, Yoshi tried to fight back, but he was much smaller, and far from the fighter he is today.

Having come to blows, Yoshiaki was more bruised up than normal. When he went to visit his mother she couldn’t be anything other than shocked. All the same, he didn’t tell her what was going on. Perhaps it was just his own stubbornness, but he lied. He was “playing with dad,” he said. Still, Analise couldn’t accept that though. She once again reached out to a man who’d sporadically come in and out of her and her children’s lives since they were children: Manuel Robino. At her behest Manuel began to investigate Yoshiaki and his father; it had been his job to watch over the family after all. He watched for the better part of a month before reporting the situation to his boss, who would then report it to Nico Ruggiano, Vongola Quattordicesimo. Analise was heartbroken; she couldn’t believe her child wouldn’t feel safe enough to tell her what was going on. She felt even worse about what it took for her to realize what he’d been going through.

Nico weighed the options at his disposal, but decided that going a legal route would have been too drawn out and costly. Even then, it would have been quite possible for him to get to the children, or possibly try to fight for them back. It was also clear that he was becoming quite more unstable as time went on. He was working a dead end job, showed no motivation for improvement and was getting more volatile as time went on. And so, as Analise sobbed, the order was given that Junichirou be dealt with.

Junichirou was placed under watch. With his life and behavior as it was, it was very easy to make things out to be a suicide. His handwriting was forged perfectly in order to create and leave a note behind. There were no signs of a struggle and the only snag in the plan came in the form of Yoshi skipping school Junichirou was meant to have been found by a neighbor, but was found by Yoshiaki instead. He had just turned 12 a few days before finding his father’s lifeless corpse. He was scared, confused, hurt, and unsure of what to do altogether.

Yoshiaki lived with his mother from that point on and as time went on became a bit more closed off to her.He grew a bit more mischievous, began skipping school more often, and spent most of his time playing video games. He also developed a bit of a temper, and even more of a mouth, spending most of the time that he wasn’t playing video games, bad mouthing anyone he didn’t care to “enjoy” the company of. This, ironically, was one of the things that would lead him to uniting and leading the delinquents of Kokuyo. He didn’t necessarily intend to at first, but as time went on and he won fight after fight it just happened. Couple that with the odd teacher-student relationship he’d developed with Manuel, who came around every so often, and Yoshi was quickly growing into, if nothing else, an interesting individual.

The young man didn’t develop many bonds, but those he had formed were precious to him. He treasured the warmth of his mother (despite the distance that had formed), the love of his sister, the few friends he’d actually made, and even Manuel. And, if nothing else, he’d grown stronger over time, if nothing else. Given this information, one would imagine that it would come as no surprise when Manuel approached Yoshiaki in order to recruit him into the Vongola. Still, the shock did not stop him from jumping at the opportunity to “level up” in his words. Although his mother wasn’t quite sure she approved of the world of unknown variables that her son was stepping into, she knew that there was no way she could possibly stop him.

Sky Flame
Sky Flames are the most comparable to actual flames, as it can burn objects and release heat. Two different types of Sky Flames are known to exist: the "Soft" Sky Flames and the "Hard" Sky Flames. Described as having many mysteries, its characteristic, Harmony, represents a state without contradiction nor flaws in which the balance of the whole is maintained. The Harmony characteristic allows it to combine with other type of Dying Will Flames to create a new one, assimilate with its surroundings, and even petrify them.

Flame of Wrath
The Flame of Wrath is an extremely powerful and exceedingly rare type of flame. The special characteristic of this flame is its extreme destructive power which can reduce anything to ashes. Unlike regular Dying Will Flames, there is no need to use a Ring to ignite the Flame. Yoshi has little to no control over these flames and cannot manifest them at will. As such, reliance on them is a non-starter.

// A B I L I T I E S
Vongola Hyper Intuition - A blood trait passed down through the generations of Vongola Bosses. It determines the eligibility of a person in order to be able to succeed the Vongola, and has been described by the Arcobaleno Reborn as being "a power that could see through all." That being said, it is not perfect, and can be fooled through powerful enough illusions. The abilities and functions of the this innate ability have been widely speculated, but there is much uncertainty as to what individuals who have it may actually be capable of. It is a trait of many mysteries and few answers.

Dying Will Mode - A mode that can be taken when a person is shot with a Dying Will Bullet or when swallowing a Dying Will Pill. While in this mode, Yoshi feels as though his body is breaking, yet he is prepared to take on anything. As is typical he also becomes unafraid of his body being destroyed. In Yoshiaki's case, he ingests a Dying Will Pill which uses the pressure he faces during a crisis to externally remove his body's limiters. He then uses his increased strength and renewed confidence to fulfill his dying will, which is the last thought he regretted before swallowing the pill. Because of the nature of the "transformation" Yoshiaki has been given special made clothes which will not be destroyed by the power exerted by the Flames of Dying Will leaving him completely naked. Finally, Yoshi began training to remain in Dying Will Mode for extended periods of time. Currently, he is capable of maintaining the form roughly between 5 and 10 minutes (the time also depending on Yoshiaki's physical condition and the conditions of his "goal"). Still, the toll this takes on his body is great and he often tries to use it only in the most dire of situations.

YoSu Style Martial Arts - Yoshiaki, throughout the course of various fights since he was young, has developed his own style of martial arts. He is not a traditionally trained combatant in any sense of the word, which likely attributes to his heavy reliance on instinct and (hopefully) unpredictable attacks. Overall, Yoshi is a street fighter, a brawler really, who learns from his allies and enemies alike in order to assimilate the techniques he comes in contact with into his own style.

// E Q U I P M E N T
Dying Will Pills - This is an item similar to the Dying Will Bullet yet slightly less potent. Therefore, when swallowed by Yoshi, this pill produces a slightly less powerful Dying Will Mode. As it is more convenient than the Dying Will Bullet, he typically carries around a small container of them.

Combat Grade Dying Will Boots - Special boots that allow the user to propel themselves around and levitate in the air by emitting their respective Dying Will Flames from the soles of the boots. Yoshiaki owns a special pair made specifically to withstand, and be utilized in, the rage of battle.

Battery Boxes - Yoshi typically carries around two of these special boxes which are used for storing Dying Will Flames for future use.

Sky Gauntlets - Yoshiaki uses what is essentially a Vongola Standard Storage Box to carry around his set of custom Sky Gauntlets which are specially designed to channel Dying Will Flames. The glove is a black mesh like material with a slightly worn (from hours of training) fog gray metal layered over it to protect him. In their entirety the gauntlets reach up Yoshi's forearms and end just below his elbows. They are sleek in design, cling to his toned arms, and are likely to minimize weight and make for quicker movements. Although, they are mostly simple in design, the gauntlets are embroidered with the Family Crest of the Vongola Famiglia resting over the dorsal surface of each "hand."

Pangolino di Cielo - Yoshi's box animal takes the form of a Giant Pangolin he has named Aki (Spring). Typically, his appearance if no different than that of a regular pangolin, but with something of an orange hue and flames coating his claws. However, when in combat, Aki is capable of emitting the Sky flames, which appear to come from beneath his powerful and incredibly sharp scales. Like this, he is able to coat his body, claws, even tongue with the dying will flames of the sky. As such, he can almost infect anything that comes into contact with him with the calming and petrifying power of harmony held in the sky flames.

Aki spends much of his time out of battle walking along the ground, usually speeding up only to keep up with Yoshi or the other if he is outside of his box. However, in combat, he will usually take to float in the air beside Yoshi or rolling himself up in order to propel himself through the air like a cannonball using the Dying will flames. Despite his appearance, Aki is remarkably smart, able to use his flames to change his trajectory mid-air if he so chooses, although his mental capacities seem to deteriorate when enraged, similarly mimicking Yoshi. Essentially, the more reckless, wild, and idiotic Yoshi becomes, the more Aki becomes.

RENATO GUERRA

Even though he is a full grown adult, Renato is very much still the problem child he was several years ago, but for an altogether different set of reasons. Long gone are the pointless rage and unfettered violence of his childhood; in their place are the endless confusion and myriad anxieties of man in young adulthood. Renato doesn't know which he prefers; although he certainly acknowledges life was much simpler back when he could just beat all of his problems into submission. There is no doubt regressing to the old ways is often tempting but, much to the credit of his guardians, Renato has been somewhat successfully integrated into civilian life. But only somewhat.

There is no doubt that he is poorly equipped to handle situations most would consider trivial even after seven years of habilitation. He understands his feelings only haltingly, aware enough to know his awkwardness but oblivious as to why it is or how to fix it. Though he may seem aloof and cold from afar, he is far from it. Those who have conversed with him know that, as well versed as he is in battle, standing toe to toe with his enemies has done little to prepare him for face to face interactions. He stumbles over his words, he avoids eye contact, and he often finds himself speaking a bit too much. He often finds himself needing to practice speaking before he does, and his ability to stick to a script is certainly indicative of his experience.

Of course, while he may seem to be quite mousey, Renato is far from timid. In fact, one could say he is too earnest for someone as tactless as he is. Although he is difficult to read in silence, it is not difficult to loosen his lips; he actively wants to interact with people and is terrified of upsetting or pushing them away.

Even if he could easily get by in life by acting in the stoic manner most expect, Renato believes that to be an insult to the people who raised him. In his mind, striving for a life where he can laugh and smile alongside others (though he's probably better off not smiling considering what his good smiles look like) is the best way to pay them back. And more than anything else, that is what Renato wants: to pay back and honor the people responsible for making him who he is today. It wouldn't be incorrect at all to say that his moral compass always points towards "I will not disgrace my family".

It is certainly unfortunate then that their wishes often run counter to his own desires.

// B A C K G R O U ND
Fifteen years ago, in a miserable corner of the world, a very desperate family sold their four-year old son in order to pay off a great debt. Regardless of whether it was a tragedy or a relief, they would never learn what happened to the boy, nor would they would ever see each other again.

The boy would be sent a world away to live in a cramped cargo hold full of runaways, illegals, and other unfortunate people nobody would miss, nobody would remember and nobody would save. He would learn the rules of this new world quickly, a world where friends would disappear or worse, where charity came with cost, and where weakness was exploited.

Fortunately for the boy, it would come to an end in the same way it ended for many: he was sold to the highest bidder. In this case, that was a certain Italian crime family. It was not the way had expected his time to end; he was inferior goods after all. He was strong and hardy (for someone on the brink of starvation, at least), but he was aggressive, unpersonable, and not nearly attractive enough to make up for it. When he asked why it came to be, he was given a simple answer: he was strong.

And so, at the ripe age of seven, "Renato Guerra" would see the sun and step foot on dry land for the first time in three years. He, along with several other children collected by this family from various sources, were sent to a manor overlooking a village in the Alps. This picturesque mountainside served the backdrop of much of Renato's upbringing.

But before the manor became his home, Renato had to earn it. For the first year, it was little more than a carrot on a stick for him and the myriad others. They would train and be tested against each other. Those who could distinguish themselves would be rewarded with comfort and opportunity; those who failed would be sent elsewhere. Renato was not clever nor was he charming, but he was strong and ruthless. And that was all he needed. He just had to crush everyone else who thought they were stronger.

And he did.

By the end of the trial year, twelve of the aspirants remained. But while they were granted the light and mountain air they were promised, there was a catch: they had to act as agents of the family. With his exceptional battle prowess, Renato was little more than the family's weapon, cutting down whoever they pointed him at without question.

Five years of his life were spent doing nothing but fighting, training to fight, and recovering from fights. Today, thoughts of his lost childhood bother him, but back then, it was as good as it would ever get. He was praised and rewarded, all for doing something he was good at. He was, for the first time, content. But as they say, all good(?) things eventually come to an end.

For Renato, that ending was heralded by war with the Vongola Famiglia, and by the end of it, his old family was rendered extinct and only three of his eleven comrades remained. He had fully expected to die then, either as a casualty of battle or by execution after the fact. Instead, he was granted amnesty by the enemy who had every right and reason to end him.

At the behest of Sasagawa Mikoto, the then-and-current Varia Leader and the one who had spearheaded the final assault, all surviving children were taken in as wards of the Vongola for rehabilitation into civilian life. After sufficient psychological evaluation, all of them were distributed to willing host families. All except Renato, the only true "lost cause" of the bunch. It was completely understandable; nobody wanted to deal with the boy who had cut down their friends and family, who responded to everything with anger and violence, and who showed no signs of repenting any time soon. After spending a month in a sparsely furnished cell with no news, it seemed as if his initial assumption would come to pass.

But it didn't, because the Sasagawa household took him in.

A second chance was not something he had wished for. Patient discipline was not something he had wished for either. Nor was a real home or an education. But even so, he was--and still is--grateful for it. It is a debt he can never repay, except by trying his to live his life in the way she wanted him to. Unfortunately, old habits die hard, and Renato was about the age to enter the cutthroat environment known as high school.

St. Dismas International School, a well-known primary and secondary school for high-profile mafia children, was his alma mater. There, his combined status as an complete idiot, a self-proclaimed pacifist and enemy agent quickly earned the derision of his peers and some of the staff. For the first time, he was at a loss. His first and best attempts at being normal had just been met with vitriol, and he couldn't fight them all, that's not what a good person would do. But it was the only thing he knew how to do, so he pushed back. He did a lot more than just "push back".

Despite how much trouble he got in, both at home and at school, it was worth it. They still disparaged, when they thought he wasn't listening or he wouldn't notice, but it was bearable. It was also very lonely. His only form of interaction with his peers were from those who wanted to prove themselves against him, the Choice Club which was just using his prowess to boost their prestige, and his "cousin".

At home, Renato's life was better, but still not without conflict. Both of his parental figures were often absent due to their duties, and when it came to his actions, they had very different opinions on the subject. Eventually the logical argument won over the emotional one: he shouldn't waste his talents trying to be a civilian, but rather, he should serve as an agent for the Vongola. And Renato agreed, much to Mikoto's displeasure. Ironically, this was done in an attempt to prove himself useful to her.

During high school, he served as a part-time apprentice under the Vongola XIV Guardian of Rain, the one who had petitioned Mikoto to have Renato serve the Vongola. After barely graduating high school, Renato took on official duties within the Vongola Famiglia, albeit ones that were far divorced from his previous combative roles.

It is two years later when the Vongola XV-apparent is decided upon, and it two weeks after that that Renato receives missive from the Vongola XIV that makes his blood run cold:

They wanted him to mentor.

"Can you keep up with me?"

// F L A M E

// A B I L I T I E S
Notoriety - Even before his nomination as Vongola Cloud Guardian, Renato was a person of no-small repute. Much of this has to do with the high-profile individuals he associates with, but even more of it has to do with his combat prowess. Renato is often regarded as the Vongola's asset going into the fifteenth generation, and for good reason: he is powerful enough to complete any mission and defeat any enemy, but he lacks both ambition and charisma. He would be a perfect weapon, if it weren't for his fickle attitude and guardians' pacifist teachings.

Martial Insight - Although Renato is almost certainly the most unintelligent member of the 15th Generation Guardians when it comes to academics, social interaction and most other things associated with being a functional human being in today's society, he demonstrates startling knowledge of all things related to combat. Even if he doesn't practice them himself, he has a comprehensive understanding of the practices, techniques and capabilities of a vast number of fighting styles and weapons. It is worth noting that this vast knowledge can be used to mentor others--assuming both he and any potential students can get past his equally vast social hang-ups.

Consolidated Arsenal - According to Vongola records, Renato fights using a combination of eclectic hand to hand combat techniques and blade-work using anything from daggers to greatswords. He is most effective at ranges where he can unleash his potent array of blows, kicks and holds to create openings for decisive weapon strikes. However, he has recently began focusing on refining his swordsmanship, leading to a much more blade-oriented fighting method. That said, any self-respecting swordsman wouldn't call what he does "swordsmanship" in the least.

// E Q U I P M E N T
Cloud Blades - A set of uniform short blades wreathed in Cloud Flames, suitable for throwing and melee alike. The quantity of short blades produced is dictated by the amount of flame energy inputted during opening. Due to this quality, Renato has developed a tactic of "shooting" his opponent with a hail of blades. However, the intended function of the Cloud Flames is to increase the size of the weapon, allowing the user to shift between blade types with ease.

Ragno di Nuvola - Cloud Spider, currently unnamed because Renato isn't creative enough to name it. It looks like a light-colored spider with purple markings, and is about the size of Renato's entire hand. As a weapon, the Cloud Spider exhibits poor direct combat performance, but is exceptionally versatile in utility applications. It's primary abilities involve inflicting massive SAN damage to anyone with arachnophobia, and applying the Cloud Flames' Propagation attribute to its spinnerets. The latter allows for rapid construction of large quantities of spider silk, which can be used for a variety of purposes. Also worth noting that this Cloud Spider isn't an 'it', but a 'her'.

Kurune hardly displays strong emotions to anyone, but on the inside she's still a human fully capable of feeling emotions normally. In fact, Kurune is extremely sensitive and over-analyses situations. She's also very receptive to new things and does not deny anything that's considered 'unscientific', because she's fairly into the occult and superstitions herself. To her, anything is possible and can be explained. She isn't the type to fear the unknown and supernatural. Quite the contrary, she seeks such excitement and thrill in her life. That being said, however, she dislikes attracting too much attention to herself, hence is subtle in her pursuit of the unnatural and unconventional.

On first impression, one would describe Kurune as quiet, nice and smart, mostly ambiguous traits. For people who have known Kurune for an extended period of time, they would often bring up the topic of 'unpredictability' when talking about her. Kurune builds an invisible fortress around herself while putting up the act of a friendly person. In the end, the most lasting impression people do have of her is that she is a 'nice person'. She likes to keep a low profile anywhere and for anything she does. Due to her mental conditions, she had always felt that no one understood her, and learnt that she only got hurt every time her hopes and wishes that people would understand her were crushed. As a result, she learnt to distance herself from people unnoticeably as a form of self-defense. Being so distant, Kurune feels lonely ever so often, yet is more than unwilling to share her true self with anyone, afraid and paranoid that her weaknesses would be exploited by others. One positive side of distancing herself and keeping a low profile, is that her existence to others is rather expendable. In other words, she is quite the invisible character to others in her life. She could cause a ruckus one day, and the very next day people can still forget about her existence. Convenient, isn't it? Currently, her highly sharpened morphing skills caused her outward personality to be extremely fluid and generic, but her true self still exists- it simply lies in deep slumber within her. She loves meddling in others' businesses when she deems it will benefit her. When she sees the chance to gain favor from someone, or the chance to make others owe her favors, Kurune makes the effort to grab the chance and help those people. This is relevant to her hobby of studying people where on a daily basis, she observes and experiments with all sorts of people that she gets acquainted with, so as to collect data and information about how different people react to things. Kurune loves asking for favors and in a way that for some reason, she is always on the receiving end and getting away with only having to return simple favors.

On a deeper level, Kurune suffers from OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) and ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). The two do not affect her outward behavior very much, but they heavily shape her personality. To summarize, the obsessive thinking and intrusive thoughts that constantly attack her mind, and the ADD which causes her to drift off into her own thoughts every other moment, combine to make her into someone who is always overworking their brain. Hence, Kurune had formed the habit of calculating all sorts of combinations of people and their reactions, situations and their progressions, actions and their motivations behind them. Instead of being resentful for having these disorders, Kurune is grateful for the most of it. She experiments psychologically on anyone she meets and pays close attention to the results displayed. Some may say that her personality is warped in a way, but to Kurune, it's "Just plain curiosity, really!"

// B A C K G R O U N D
Kurune is a Chinese-Japanese mix. She was born in Kyushu, Japan and lived there with both her parents until the age of 14. Her parents were on terrible terms and she had never seen them being nice to one another since she was born. Her father was a tyrant. He had always abused his position as the breadwinner of the family to make her and her mother serve him as if he was the king. As a result, Kurune and her mother lived very unhappily while her father simply enjoyed life at its finest. Eventually, her mother decided that she was not going to put up with him any more and filed for divorce for both herself and her daughter's sakes. They got into one final, huge argument regarding the divorce and hurled furniture about, scaring the Kurune then. Eventually, the ultimatum was made and they divorced. Kurune's father wrestled with her mother for the custody of Kurune, but the mental abuse he had done to Kurune was considered in court and sole custody of Kurune was given to her mother. At that time, Kurune was 14. Her mother felt apprehensive about remaining in Kyushu, so she took Kurune and returned to Namimori, her hometown.

Growing up watching both her parents hating each other down to the bones carved wariness into her soul. If her parents had gotten married on a good note, how did they not have a single shred of love for each other for as long as she lived? What exactly can she trust of the things that people show her? She deducted that it was impossible for 'true love' to exist, and that any romantic attraction people have are just temporary, passionate, instinctive desires. This made her learn that excessive emotions were just burdens and she trained herself to keep her emotions under control at any time.

Being naturally intelligent, she did extremely well in her academics for a few years in Midori Middle, a prestigious girl's school, and promoted to the sister high school of Midori Middle. However, the stress in the changed environment and her mother's increased expectations eventually got to her and her grades plunged with every examination there was. Unable to maintain her excellent grades, she had no choice but to transfer to a school with lower academic standards at the start of her third year in high school. Devastated by the seemingly hopeless future that they were going to have, her mother began to live carelessly and recklessly, drowning away in alcohol and in despair. With her mother in that state, Kurune has no choice but to work instead of her mother, and is currently the only one bringing in income for her family by taking up various part-time jobs.

Supporting Actor - Due to her habit of paying close attention to people and their reactions to all sorts of situations, she is well-trained to put on an all-round perfect 'act' comprising of more than just the sight, to trick and convince people into believing/perceiving something that isn't a truth. She is also trained in all sorts of skill sets in her pursuit of being able to play out all sorts of possible roles. Though her range of skills are definitely wide, her knowledge in each ones are not deep.
(Examples of putting this into practical use in combat is creating/replicating extremely realistic illusions with ease and nearly instantly. What differentiates Kurune's illusions from another skilful illusionist's illusions is that she herself blends/plays perfectly into her illusions and hence enhancing them, making it difficult for others to even believe it's not reality.)

Fortune Teller - Combining her ability to anticipate all sorts of situations/behaviours, and her skill with her tarot cards, she can easily prevent driving herself or her allies into a dead end when encountering enemies, and she will for sure be able to make an unpredictable Plan B as many times as she wishes to.
(An example of putting this into practical use is that Kurune is able to notice both the big picture and tiny details and reads the battle flow very accurately. She is then able to combine her awareness of the situation with her wealth of knowledge from observing others, creating many possible alternative plans and escape routes in her mind during battle.)

Esper - Kurune possesses latent esper abilities.

Hardcore Part-timer - Kurune has taken up countless part time jobs ever since her parents divorced in order to provide for her mother and herself. She doesn't stay at one job for too long, in order not to let others get too close to her and to make herself less noticeable. Because of her experience in countless different jobs, she gained many valuable skillsets, though she's not an expert in any single one. She's basically a jack of all trades, master of none. She grew to become someone who picks things up very quickly.

// E Q U I P M E N T
Tarot Cards - Tarot decks that have accompanied her through the years that she uses ever so often to experiment. Kurune brings a deck with her wherever she goes and consults on them whenever she is in a pinch, or when her instincts tell her that something out of the ordinary is about to happen.

Folding Fan - A (collection of) folding fan(s). She keeps one with her wherever she goes, just because she has a weird obsession for them. They are mostly purple and consists of flower patterns such as the cherry blossom. Which design she brings along for the day depends heavily on her mood. After joining the mafia, she embeds long flat blades in the folds of her fan which can be thrown out. Used in combination with her illusions, the launched blades are offset in sight and by predicting the reactions of others, her blades are difficult to avoid.

Box Weapon: Souba - It's a double-bladed katana, the purpose of having two blades is for the user to easily trap swords between the two blades and disarm the opponent. Kurune has no idea how to wield it properly yet. She kept this box weapon with her because she wishes to learn how to use it properly one day.

Box Animal: Falena di Nebbia - Depending on the flames Kurune injects, the number and quality of moths vary. Kurune's most common use of her mist moths is for scouting purposes. In combat, Kurune often uses a swarm of them to immobilize or obstruct the visions of the enemies. Usually, the amount and quality of flames injected is directly proportionate to the number and size of the moths. However, past a certain point, the number of moths will not increase even if Kurune adds to the amount of flames injected. When Kurune injects an immense amount of flames with a strong resolve, the shape and pattern on the wings of the moths change. Looking at the patterns on the moths causes hallucinations and psychological damage. Effects vary with different people.

AKARI RUSSO

"I strive to be the MVP, boss."

P E R S O N A L I A

”Wait, am I supposed to have a constantly sunny personality?"

// P E R S O N A L I T Y
Akari is quite a casual girl with a relaxed demeanor most of the time. She can quickly get serious and function well in times of crisis. With mafia business, she'll be polite and respectful. She's a simple person, with simple ideals, usually detesting lies, betrayal and manipulation that doesn't directly benefit the Famiglia.

Her childhood and early teens as a Mafia kid had her instilled with old virtues - loyalty and honour mean everything to her - though she can be ruthless when required.

// B A C K G R O U N D
Akari was born to an Italian father and a Japanese mother in Sicily, both with connections to an ancient mafia famiglia. The father was a soldato, a simple underling who would follow his orders diligently, without question, and respected the made men and the boss. The mother was keenly interested in the dying will flames and the mafia’s powers, and was a welcome hand in crafting gear for the members of the family. Akari’s young life was spent being home schooled, and slowly being introduced to the mafia world by her parents and mentors, and for a while it seemed like her whole life was set out before her. She’d learned a lot by the time she was a teenager, though none of it involved dodgy business, violence, or anything ‘nasty’... Not yet, at least. She could summon a bright yellow flame from the ring her mother had given her as a child, with enough practice and guidance. She was being taught how to shoot, and sometimes got into scraps with the other kids of the famiglia in good spirits. She was growing well, and might’ve become a valued member of the famiglia... if not for what came next.

One of the made men, close to the boss, started a purge one night as the town were in their beds. It seemed to have come out of nowhere, a civil war that ended in but a few hours at most. Akari’s parents were sided with their boss, who had been killed in the earliest stages of the bloody night. The loyalists that weren’t killed in their sleep rallied to try and at least take their vengeance on the boss’ killer, the man that’d managed to bring well over half of the famiglia to his side through subtle manipulations and machinations. The battles against these usurpers were hard fought, and whilst those loyal to their late boss were resolved and determined, they were ultimately put down, one by one. Akari’s father and mother would be among the loyal dead. The famiglia would be reformed shortly after, and become a member of the Rilevare...

Akari woke up in the middle of the night to the sounds of chaos breaking out in the streets. Her mother and father were gone already, and she would never see them again - though she had no idea what was happening at the time. A woman entered the house, leaving Akari no time to take anything with her, save for the ring that she always wore. This lady was new in town, a professional hitman, and seemed to be friendly with Akari’s parents. Despite being dragged out of town in the middle of the night and shoved in a car, the girl was very compliant, with the reasoning that she’d be dead already if this woman intended it. The woman introduced herself as Hilda, an assassin, and revealed that she’d been after the man who had just taken over the famiglia back in Akari’s hometown. Though, as it was, the mission was a failure...

Hilda didn’t give Akari much time to grieve for her parents, or her larger family, stating that ‘it’s over’. She needed to relocate, and having Akari in her company gave her a pretty good idea of where to head... Before meeting her husband, Akari’s mother had lived in Namimori, with the surname Irie. Hilda would settle there with Akari for a time, and convince the girl to settle into a new life as a student, and forget the mafia. She agreed to the former, but not the latter... Hilda was thrilled to have a student, and over time, the hitwoman became almost like a motherly figure. Akari would keep up being a resident of Namimori, but her training would continue whenever Hilda was in town, and so she began to balance her two lives...

One lazy day, she found herself playing a video game online, and happened to be doing a good job at making all her enemies ragequit and cry! She'd gotten good in just a few weeks and might've been well on her way to become an addict... She was too good... Until she was placed against some guy from Kokuyo, the next town along, and suffered her first death in-game. She was shocked and stunned by this revelation that someone could keep up with her reactions, outwit her, and then have the nerve to say, "get good, scrub" over their microphone. She hated it. It took a few more bad plays before she could take revenge, and told him pretty much the same. The two argued, and... as stupid kids on games do, they started to mock each others families, each other, and the fateful "1v1 me in real life!" was dropped by both of them at the same time. And they did!

Half way between Namimori and Kokuyo, just off the highway, the two met. Neither of them gave the other much chance to speak, only exchanging their names and a threat or two before descending into a pretty violent brawl. As it happened, they were pretty evenly matched. Yoshi might've been stronger, but Akari was a little faster, but in the end.. both ended up on the ground, covered in dirt, scrapes and bruises. Having worked out their differences through a lot of punching, they were actually happy to say 'good game' in the end...

The two somehow put the incident behind them, with a kind of mutual respect. They talked a lot, with Akari taking an interest in his life in Kokuyo. It wasn't regarded as all that nice a place to live, with crime, delinquents and the like. Yoshiaki Sugihara seemed like he rose above it, however. He was on a roll, pulling the scrapping factions into his fold, bringing them together. He didn't act like it, but he seemed powerful, and he must've had some kind of natural ability to lead... The two parted ways, but had decided to stay in contact, keep playing together, and Akari would be sure to visit Kokuyo every few weeks to hang out with her only real friend...

”If it moves, shoot it! If it screams in badguy, shoot it again!"

Hitman-in-Training - Akari is an up-and-coming professional shooter, home tutored from her early teens by a real hitman. She has good knowledge of the mafia world, weapons, equipment, flames and their uses. With Hilda's guidance, Akari can fight with many a weapon, and has some good physical conditioning for combat, but her preference has always remained distance and firepower.

Technician - Akari is an avid tinkerer with the somewhat arcane equipment used by the Mafia. She enjoys pulling apart and rebuilding equipment to better understand it, constructing and modifying her own boxes and flame-powered gear.

// E Q U I P M E N T
Dying Will Guns/X-Guns - Modelled after the same kind used by Xanxus, a legendary Varia Boss, but downsized slightly. These "X-Guns" are able to be fed with clips of bullets charged with flames, or with a ring on each hand, the wielder could fire them without the physical ammunition, though it could end up exhausting the user's flame if not used sparingly. Akari has a selection of bullets to choose from. Wax bullets for non-lethal use, real bullets for ending people, and a selection of mafia-crafted bullets, including but not limited to Dying Will Bullets. (Demon/Grey let me know what I'm allowed and not allowed - already noted Possession Bullet is a hell no!)

Flame Shoes - Akari uses a light, unarmoured variant of flame shoes, designed as knee boots.

Headset & Choker Microphone - Akari's comms gear is a standard headset used by the Vongola Famiglia for receiving traffic, connected to a wrap-around microphone for her neck for transmission.

Combat Knife - As can be imagined, it's a simple combat knife in a holster, usually strapped to Akari's right thigh. This is developed from the same material as the Dying will Bullets however, and as such, it is extremely difficult to break.

C-Class Sun Ring - The ring given to Akari as a child by her mother. It isn't that remarkable, only that the yellow crystal has silver engravings on it.

Box Animal: Lupo del Sereno - Akari's box animal is a deceptively cute wolf pup. It's a lovable, pleasant, fluffy bundle of joy. With its own will, it can heal others with physical contact, often resorting to licking their wounds or rubbing against them. Allies can also receive a slight healing factor from petting him or rubbing his belly whilst he radiates the healing factor of sun flames. Oh god it's just so cute!

However, these abilities can be amplified by 'activation', in which the pup will go through a very speedy maturity to reach the size of an alpha male wolf. Whilst it can still heal, it's now far less adorable, and far more threatening - it will support allies, or protect Akari as she sees fit, following her command.
