Interested. Is there a main thread up yet?

I just talked with @tobiax about it, and I can confirm that there are things that (s)he needs to finalize beforehand. It'll come when it's ready :]

So, I have a question for everybody. Right now, I'm torn between my two proposed characters. If y'all could tell me who you think I should play, that would be appreciated immensely. Saffron is on the first page, Tori on the second. Thanks!

Oh I hadn't really looked into the character sheet yet and at seeing it there's something that's somewhat bothersome. The color naming rule.

For starters it's barely even applied in the show itself and most 'connections' made by fans and such on wikis are speculation at best. Most connections are so loose it barely matters. Yang in particular being a dragon (which definitely describes a color /sarcasm). And others just don't even have one.

And it seems like roleplays that use this rule seem to forget the more important aspect of RWBY characters. That they're all based on some kind of legend, lore, or history. Such as Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, Joan of Arc, Snow White, Thor, Wizard of Oz, and others.

Either way, not my thread. But this focus on the color naming rule in every rp i've seen for rwby has gotten on my nerves, particularly when it always discounts the character I want to play unless I make the loosest connection. (Though I guess that would be how the series does it anyway so whatever)

@DoomFlavored I second this. Freysdottr sounds better than Raudrgant anyway.

@Lemons That *is* a cool name. Could also be Frey for short that sounds good.

Dottr could also but that is... erm.... awkward. Maybe just her pa calls her that xD

edit: wait... if even a female... I'm assuming a lot

"Bothersome"?

Grossly incorrect. Yang itself is Chinese for yellow, or a close approximation thereof. Yang Xiao Long means "Sunny Little Dragon"

Don't worry,I'm doing that too. This is my problem, so you don't need to worry about it. It's just something to ask in private, as opposed to putting it on the CS. That ruins the fun, just a bit.

Why would the color naming theme discount the character you want to play? The Color Naming Rule has in-world justifications. So... should I assume that you didn't get past Volume One?

To be fair, there are a few very loose color names in the show.

*laughs in Nora Valkyrie and Jaune Arc*

@Lemons Nora comes from Lenora, which I'm pretty sure means white. Jaune is literally French for yellow. So, not sure which loose ones you're talking about. (Tori is a victory or a bird so it's fine.)

Might I throw my two cents in here? I personally don't think it should necessarily be a hard and fast "rule" as much as a suggestion. It's honestly kind of hard to believe that the entirety of living sapeint people - regardless of borders, cultures, and species - all share the same view on something to the point where every single person gives their child a name that evokes a colour. ^^; I personally think, for the enjoyment of as many players as possible, we should be able to take small liberties with canon material, rather than weigh ourselves down by it.

Unrelated, will there be teams?

@Lemons Yes. Yes there will. We will be playing in Shade Academy, so yes, teams. But don't worry, we'll endure the headache(s) of setup together. I'd like to say we're maxing at 12 characters, but aiming for 8, I guess.
@Nyahahameha I don't see it that way. We're already taking our own little liberties on the GM side, but that is a facet about the World of Remnant that makes it interesting.
But like, did no one pay attention to that big speech Ozpin gave? About the end of the Great War, and why it is that it's a global majority trend?

Of course we remember it. We just...think it's stupid, and that it doesn't really contribute to making the world that much more interesting. ^^; Or, those are my thoughts, at least. Plus, you just said exactly what I mean: it's a trend, and like any trend, there's going to be people who don't follow it. I really think making the color-based naming a hard rule works against the believability of it being a trend. I'm not even saying I'm one of the people who doesn't want to give my character a colour-based name, I've already got that covered. And OOC, It seems silly to be so strict toward such a small detail. Are you sure you won't budge on this, just a little?

The devil's in the details, mate. Someone would need a good reason in-world to have a name that breaks the rule. You say it's strict or silly, I say it creates narrative cohesion.

Fair, enough, then. Not much I can do if that's what you've decided. You're the boss, boss. Sorry for rocking the boat.

Hello there!

This looks interesting. Are you still accepting players?

I don't think I have got very far into RWBY though. Maybe like til Volume One or Two. Is that alright?
