What I mean is, once you've RP'd with certain people a few times you start to get a 'feel' for their style of characters even if they have a diverse range. Have you ever based a character of your own around the type of characters that your partners play? Or maybe have one or two inspired by them?

For example I have an RP partner who loves cyberpunk so anytime I make a robot/futuristic type character I feel it's somewhat based on or inspired by the characters that she has roleplayed. I can't be the only one, right?

Oh definitely. RP partners are a great source of inspiration. Just like books, movies, games. I know I've quite enjoyed a few notable RPer's characters whom I've RPed with! As long as you don't overtly copy someone else's work, I don't see any reason why you couldn't bring inspiration from your experiences with them into your novel. Like I said, I've done it a fair bit!

Stories/novels, no. However, a substantial portion of my lore is built from a graveyard of plots and the like constructed from the ruins of abandoned 1x1 and group roleplays. Started as a coping mechanism for the extreme turnover rate in the roleplay community, ended up almost a goal for my roleplaying as I see being flaked out on as nearly inevitable.

Book idea I've been plinking on and off on for a few years started with me and Leidenschaft collaborating in creating a fantasy race for a roleplay that never made it off the ground because the GM disappeared, so yeah, I'd say so.

Stories and novels not really in my case right now as I yet to write one outside of fanfiction. I've yet to find that strong muse for it since mine has been up and down but never really at one level for too long at times. The ruins of dead 1x1 and group roleplays for me I've tended to not really been able to find a spark of inspiration, but I've read some books like for example the Harry Potter series and I can read those for a long time for at least to help churn something but games for me and anime has been more of something of a inspiration but I end up flaked and abandoned more often than not.

Yep. I am actually off and on working on a fantasy story based on an old RP. That partner passed recently (I got permission to use some of our RPs long before then, since her health was declining and she couldn't play anymore), but there's lot of good stuff to pull from.

I also had other partners influence some of my OCs and original worlds. I have characters who would not be the way they are today without my partners. Even my current (albeit fandom-based) RPs have given me ideas to toy around with.

I wouldn't say I write novels, like at all, but past RP experiences do sometimes stick with me. There's this one extremely unremarkable Yu-Gi-Oh! RP I've always kept in the back of my mind because something just... clicked with the cast of it. The cast itself wasn't very good, hell, I carry about 3 of their characters with me and I've forgotten all the rest, but in my mind those 3 had an interesting dynamic that could've made for a good story. It's a concept I've slowly tinkered at over time, and maybe someday I'll write a fanfic based on the ideas carried over from them.

Actual RP itself was hot garbage, though.

Otherwise I don't particularly inspire myself off anything that happened in the past, or off of my peers, but I do tend to remember most any character I've ever made and sometimes draw from my own well of ideas. I did straight-up parody someone else's character at some point, but that's about as far as it ever got. I am known to sometimes just... adopt dropped characters, though.
