My name is Shargof, and I've encountered this website by chance. I've became quite curious about the website, so I decided to take the plunge and make a proper account on here. I've been in a good number of roleplays already, though I'm quite keen on new experiences. Pleasure to meet any passerby's acquaintances, and I hope you all have a good day.

Welcome to the Guild, @Shargof. What kind of Roleplays have you written in the past?

I've been in some roleplays hosted on some chat service, fair amount of them were bite-sized but a good number of them were actually long form. I can't say I'm terribly familiar with post-by-post stuff on forums, but that is part of the reason why I signed up: To try new things.

Oh, I can relate to that. I started on Chatango then switched to MSN and then to Skype from there. It was a bit of an uphill battle to get adjusted to post-by-post Roleplaying and I still struggle from time to time. Hopefully you're able to find what you're looking for though. If you have any questions in the meantime, however, then please don't hesitate to ask. Most of us are pretty friendly and usually happy to help.

Thank you! I do actually have a question at this moment: Where should I begin if I wish to get into the swing of things regarding forum role-playing?

Usually interest checks is where you'd want to start. These are basically advertisements for Roleplays that are looking to get off the ground or pre-existing Roleplays that are looking for new players. You can find them in each of our on-site sections including Free, Casual, Advanced, Nation, Tabletop, 1x1, Arena, and General with some more alive than others. You can make your own or respond to one that grabs your attention. Alternatively, you can also join a game that is already ongoing though that is much more difficult. I'm in one such Roleplay that is always accepting new recruits and there are some more on the site if you're willing to look into whatever interests you.

Ah thank you! I'll be sure to check those out, I will say I'm not feeling too terribly confident in myself yet, so I'll likely start with something more casual. Any tips you'd like to give on the matter?

Start in free or casual. Free consists of one liners and skinny paragraphs. Casual cranks it up a notch. Advanced is where the big boys and girls world build and do several big paragraphs per post.

The other stuff is just for fun, meaning Spam and RP Discussion and Gallery (is that even what it's called?) And also, there's Arena. It doesn't have much activity. I think that's it.

Have fun!@Shargof

Just throw yourself into any Roleplay that interests you without any fear. I'll admit that I have very low self-confidence myself and it's worked out so far for me. If you ever need anyone to talk to, then my DMs are always open and my Discord handle is in my signature. I'll gladly listen to any vents, questions, or look over any of your work for you. It's always good to edit your work, of course, but having an editor is sometimes helpful too.

Aside from that, I really recommend checking this post out. These guides really saved my life when I first started.

Thank you for the warm greetings and advice everyone, I'll be sure to read through the links provided in the post Hyde, and I'll very likely start with Free or Casual to start off role. I bid you all a good day, and fair writings.
