@Kuro You gather some rather nice mud.
@Duthguy You get to work building a Gatherer's Hut. It's the largest building in the clearing, with a tall roof and plenty of dry space to store materials. You even make a rudimentary table and a place to hang plants to dry out. All in all you're very satisfied with your handiwork.
@ForsakenBySleep you attempt to nurse the Mud Gatherer back to health but to no avail. One of the new laborers mentions a way of preserving herbs for rudimentary medicine. She offers to teach you which herbs you need.
@Kassarock you show the new laborer where the best place to gather mud is, and set him to work.
@Gendarme@Kenshi you craft a nifty mud brick. It'll be perfect in a nifty building.
@TGM You forage for food.

A new laborer has moved into the vacant space in the mud hut.
You hear faint crying from the woods at night.

@ForsakenBySleep you spend some time researching Herbal Medicine.
@Gendarme you throw yourself into gathering food, frolicking through the woods in a flurry of limbs and dramatic poses. Picking mushrooms is done with a flourish. Fruits are picked with reverence and honor. You carry your pickings back to the clearings, a new, wiser gnome. The foraging workers look on in awe at your superior skill.
@TGM Meanwhile, you forage for food in your usual favored spots.
@Kenshi@Duthguy@Kuro You gather some mud.
@Kassarock You assign a worker to gathering Mud.

A new gnome arrives, looking for work.

The workers eat some food. A forager has become ill from eating bad mushrooms.

You finish researching herbal medicine. The Gnome shows you which medicinal herbs are needed to make simple cures for common health problems. You have no tools to properly prepare them, so the gnome suggests building a Healer’s Hut dedicated to healing the sick.

@Duthguy You do not have the tools to do that yet.

@Kenshi you craft an excellent mud brick.
[@Gerdarme] you forage for food, but without your usual virve or passion. Is this all there is to gathering food? Is there no one who appreciates the true glory of a gathering artist anymore? These thoughts haunt you as you reluctantly bring a selection of fine root vegetables back to the clearing.
@ForsakenbySleep@TGM you rustle up some edible grubs.

A labourer bums around cloudwatching. He refuses to go into the woods for fear of the 'beast'.
