The omniverse: a set of infinite, alternate universes made up of endless possibilities. All that is, has been, and ever will be resides within this ever-growing collection of realities. These parallel dimensions exist simultaneously, vibrating at different frequencies that keep them separate from one another. While most are ignorant to these alternate worlds, there are some who travel between universes, and even those who risk reality-ending crises by tampering with the continuum.

From across the entirety of existence, the notion of a unique individual is almost completely unheard of. All physical beings and sentient life were mirrored across the countless realities, albeit with endless permeations, no entity was meant to be wholely exclusive to their universe alone. With the exception of one race of beings who, for unknown reasons, were unique unto themselves.

The Spineless Ones, as they came to be known, were born into a dimension without reflection. Although their mere existence was viewed as an impossibility by those who were aware, their primitive society was deemed harmless and the Spineless Ones were left to their own devices. Over time they advanced, however, and one of their kind rose above all to become the unquestioned ruler.

Sadistic, manipulative, and cunning. These are the traits Mojo most values in himself. Possessing the ability to perceive other dimensions at will, Mojo was not content with merely observing the infinite universes. He thrived on subjugation and amassed an empire comprised of victims snatched from countless worlds. Men and women with great power and brilliant costumes, titans in their realities, forced into servitude. Mojo cared not for the importance of these individuals in their home realities, nor their significance to the omniverse as a whole. He saw them only as toys for his entertainment, tools for his service. Most were led to the slaughter, either through gladiatorial combat against other slaves or by intricate death games designed for perverse, ruthless enjoyment.

Of those who managed to endure their enslavement, one small, impromptu group freed from the clutches of the tyrannical Mojo by happenstance, were able to escape. Forced together out of necessity, these individuals now hop from one alternate reality to the next, trying to survive the strange new worlds they encounter, while fighting back against their one-time captor, and ultimately find their ways home.

Welcome to Rogue Continuum. A mostly linear roleplay attempting to explore, reimagine, and redefine the vast expanse of Marvel and DC comics lore. The goal is for this to be a heavily character-driven story. While I will be guiding the overall plot and direction, weaving in interesting worlds and narratives that directly or tangentially relate to player character backgrounds, this is intended to be a collaborative endeavor. These characters will be together for the vast majority of the game, and as such, you should expect to be sharing a scene with at least one of your fellow players at all times.

Our characters will be heroes/anti-heroes, whether costumed or otherwise, who have been abducted from their respective worlds and brought to Mojo's dimension whereupon they were enslaved and forced to compete in sadistic, gladiatorial death games. The story will begin with our characters collectively having escaped from Mojoworld due to outside intervention, and their first arrival and foray into another reality as a forced-together group. The core of the roleplay will then follow this unlikely party as they traverse dozens of alternate universes, some familiar others less so, trying to find their respective homeworlds while simultaneously dealing with each other, the strange new realities they come across, and avoiding Mojo's attempts to recollect them.

This is a rebooted concept. I have previously tried this game twice before - once as a small, private, invite-only group and once as an open application with a limited roster. This go-around I'm blending both.

This will be a relatively small group roleplay that will focus heavily on collaborative storytelling. I have already invited three players (@Bounce, @Cybermaxx, and @DocTachyon), two of whom are returning from the previous rendition, but am hoping to find two or three more to have a diverse collection of talent. What I'm looking for most in players is reliability. This is the third attempt at this RP and I am aiming for it to be the final.

Due to the very nature of this RP relying on alternate universes, character creation will be very open. While the narrative of this game will entirely focus on Marvel and DC properties, I am not averse to character proposals that feature concepts from other properties. This is, after all, set in the Omniverse where all content exists. For instance, if you are playing Constantine from DC and would like them to have worked for the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense from Hellboy, that is absolutely fine. Or if you wanted to play Duke from GI Joe as a version of the Punisher, that is also okay. Mix and match and blend to your heart's content, but keep in mind that this RP is at its core about DC and Marvel, and thus your concept should feature aspects from one or both of those sources. I do not want applications that are purely from other franchises - if you are submitting a proposal for a non-DC/Marvel comic character, then there must still be something from DC/Marvel within the concept. And while I will judge all apps fairly, characters from other mediums outside of comics will be at a probable disadvantage.

You are free to reimagine a character as completely and wildly as you would like or stick as close to the source material as interests you. Unlike most traditional comic and fandom roleplays, any and all consequences of extreme reimaginings will be isolated to that character's home dimension. So, for example, if a player was interested in running a heroic version of Lex Luthor who gave himself powers through experimentation and/or turned his society into a utopia, this would be perfectly acceptable. It would not prevent or lessen the ability for a different player to run a different Superman-franchise character who stayed closer to traditional roots. I actively encourage all applying to fully embrace the freedom offered by this concept when creating their characters.

Something I think makes this particular concept fun and exciting is that any player can apply as a previous version of a character they've done but never got to fully explore. If you roleplayed as X character in Y game and want to continue telling their story, bring them into this. Either have them be abducted immediately where you left off in the previous game or years down the line. There would be more freedom to explore these sorts of character concepts in this game than in most others.

I also want to make clear that the three players already invited will also be going through the application process, so there are no characters already 'taken.' Everyone who applies will have a fair shot at competing for their favorite characters, whether they have guaranteed admittance to the RP or not. So, if you see someone who has already applied as a character you would wish to play, feel free to compete. This isn't a first come first serve RP, and final choices won't be made until about a week after this posting. I also highly recommend that everyone submit two applications so that I have more choices and flexibility in the selection process.

You will find I like to keep things relatively simple and streamlined in regards to gameplay and management itself. As such, my rules are brief and as follows:

  • Be a competent writer. I know this can come off as elitist, but please recognize that you are in the advanced section and should be capable of advanced-level posting. This doesn't just mean being able to use correct grammar but also that you can write posts that are narratively coherent. As a game that will be character-driven at its core, character development and introspection are going to be key to most posts and the story overall. You don't need to write novellas by any means, just realize that brief action or dialogue only posts without exposition won't work well if that's all you put forth every time. Use this RP as a chance to truly explore your characters and the worlds they come across.

  • Be reliable. As this will be a linear game with a small roster of players, I do not intend to impose strict posting requirements. Putting forth quality posts once a month is all that I ask. More is great, less is not. I also understand IRL events can unexpectedly pull us away from RPing, and while that's perfectly understandable, please only apply if you are confident in your ability to stick with this RP for the long haul and meet the monthly posting.

  • Don't be a dick.

If you do apply as both a primary and secondary concept, note which is which so I can weigh each appropriately.

If you want an example of the sort of information I am looking for within your applications, this was my character sheet for the previous version of the game.

I am not guaranteed to be playing this character, though. Like everyone else, I do not have an automatic character. I don't want to unfairly hog a character if someone else is interested in playing this one. I will not decide on a character for myself until after I have accepted all other characters.

I'm new to this site but not pbp role playing. If you have an open spot, I'd be interested in submitting a character concept.

My idea is an alternate Marvel history where mutants are an open part of American society if not anybody's favorite since WWII.

Sabretooth was nearly 150 years old when he joined the First Special Service Force, a joint US Canada unit. The unit included several mutants serving openly. Victor Creed goes from a Metis boy born in a hide tent on the Canadian plains to a bird colonel in the Army. He is a good guy. Until he winds up in Mojo's version of 'Survivor'.

I've been lurking for a bit, but decided to toss in an idea of mine based off the Crisis In A Half Shell crossover comic from 2019. There's some cool stuff in the works already, so I could understand if I end up not getting in, but I gotta at least give it a shot.

Absolutely you can apply. I won't be making any decisions on who is accepted for a week or so.

I’m interested in this and have a character that I believe could work well here. I think she could benefit from being tweaked to fit this but I’d have to do that and drop her later on.

Looking forward to it!

Don't forget you guys can always apply with a second sheet, too, if you have any extra concepts you're interested in. There's no limit to how many proposals you can put forth, really, just make sure I know which you prefer the most.

I like both of them.

I'd be happy to RP either depending on which seems to fit in better with the setting. Wolverine has a more easily written for personality. Hex is usually kinda just a hard fighting big man with a big gun, which kinda works.

Seeing some fun concepts so far. A few of them really mesh well with some of the realities I plan to visit during the RP, so that'll provide for some interesting narrative moments.

Once I get home, I will go through and give any feedback on current sheets that I feel are necessary. That way instead of just writing off a concept as not fitting, anyone who wants to can adjust.

Alright, here we go. I would recommend reading the comments I left for others, too, as there are some lore tidbits I clarify in there to make background information easier.

The only two real comments/concerns I have here are:
1) Is the age a typo? For a being like Loki, and someone who even in your bio has befriended families for generations, only being 130 years old seems fairly young.

2) All of the bits about Mojo planning with Thor, invading Asgard, and conquering Earth I'll have to ask be removed. This is my fault for not clarifying before, but none of these proposals need to mention the character's abduction or the events leading to them. There's a very specific way Mojo finds his targets, and the abduction itself takes place during the course of a normal day for the character - whether that be while they're asleep, while they're distracted in a conflict, weakened from a fight, or whatever else. The details of what happened for your character specifically will be worked out between us if you're accepted. The only consistent is that all of these characters would have woken up as prisoners, been tortured and experimented on, and forced to compete in various death games. So, if you want to swap out Mojo for someone else that conquered Asgard and Earth, feel free to do so.

Gonna work on that secondary character concept in a bit. Got a few other games I owe posts to.

Not really any comments/concerns for this one, aside from the same bit about how he was abducted - assuming that the final paragraph was to be taken literally. Mostly just curiosities like does he wield a triangular or circular shield and did he and Peggy actually have a life together considering he didn't die? But the latter can obviously be revealed in the IC.

I've been lurking for a bit, but decided to toss in an idea of mine based off the Crisis In A Half Shell crossover comic from 2019. There's some cool stuff in the works already, so I could understand if I end up not getting in, but I gotta at least give it a shot.

A very interesting concept, especially since I'm not familiar with that particular comic. You kept the attack/abduction vague, so actually, I'm not going to ask you to remove that part. I am curious, though, what sort of gear does this Bruce even have and utilize? Without his money and resources, what tools and weaponry can I expect from this Bats?

I like that the world this Victor hails from his one where mutants, at least those who are marketable, can have meaningful and even lucrative careers. Will make for a startling contrast if accepted and he encounters worlds where that is not the case. The bit about fighting Mojo outside of the arena and keeping the spirits of his fellow captives up, though, doesn't work. Aside from any death matches where he would be put head-to-head with other gladiator slaves, he wouldn't ever see the other abductees or even know how many exist. Each prisoner is kept completely isolated until they are brought out for a game, there is zero chance to fraternize. And the only knowledge they have about Mojo is his name and his position as absolute ruler of that world - they never saw him.

I like both of them.

I'd be happy to RP either depending on which seems to fit in better with the setting. Wolverine has a more easily written for personality. Hex is usually kinda just a hard fighting big man with a big gun, which kinda works.

In regards to Hex, all I'm curious about is if he's utilizing Hellboy's classic weapon of choice.

Am I understanding correctly with Patch that he had completely turned his back on the superhero lifestyle, and has been playing Madripoor mob boss, and nothing else, for however many years? Is he more cruel in this reality due to his ruling a criminal nation, or?

The kids are not all right.

I've already spoken to you in regards to Spawn, and with Beast Boy it's all straightforward so I have no concerns there. I am confused, though, about Katie's timeline. Started at six, currently ten, but the Power Pack hasn't had missions together for years?

Here's what I have for my character concept. Feel free to give any feedback, especially if any of the descriptions are too brief.

I respect the courage for going full-on Amalgam. No one else has before in any of the previous renditions.

Something else I should clarify here, though, is this: there are two general types of death games Mojo forces his prisoners to compete in. The first are gladiatorial matches between a selected pair or group of the enslaved fighters he's captured. In these matches, you only live if all other fighters are killed, so going without killing would be almost impossible unless you are freshly abducted or solely were forced to compete in the next type of death game. Which are the literal games; deadly gambits and challenges full of twisted traps, murderous automatons, and sadistic, tortuous puzzles. These games are typically done solo, so don't involve any forced killing, but are often psychologically designed to break down the competitors - if they don't break physically and perish, first.

With that new knowledge in mind, you may want to revise the final paragraph just slightly. I'm happy to work with you and anyone else in designing traps and challenges specifically for your characters that you can mention in character.

And that's all for now. Nothing really problematic or concerning, honestly. I will say there are quite a few martial-based characters submitted thus far, though, so just keep in mind they're at least partially competing with one another. It's unlikely I accept three or more characters that fit the same archetypes - such as peak human brawler/martial artist with leadership skills. Overlap is more than fine, but I'll definitely be avoiding stacking the team with too-similar characters. So just a friendly reminder that you can submit additional proposals if you would like in order to give yourself the most chances to be accepted.

Either way, some really interesting submissions so far. Looking forward to seeing more; especially from those who have already displayed interest.

Katie is 6 all through Power Pack (vol. 1). Similar to "you're only 10 years old, Damian" the writers made a point out of through the run. Julie is the only character mentioned as having a birthday. Granted, its not consistent. Katie is stated in the Fall of the Mutants tie-in as being the same age as Franklin Richard, but then later (in Fantastic Four) it's Jack who is Franklin's age, so that is also all over itself. She's also 6 during Inferno and the Holiday Special, though its not stated what her age is during her solo appearance in Wolverine. Likewise, its not stated in her solo appearance in GLA.#2.

So, it seems that she was a solo actor following the events of Power Pack #84 and/or the Holiday Special.

When Power Pack appeared in FF and Gwenpool, Alex and Julie were aged up consistent to their respective appearances outside the book, with Jack and Katie seemingly closer in age (with respect to one another) and neither specifically addressed... other than Bentley apparently making a pass at Katie and getting the shit beat out of him, which reinforces that she's meant to be older than her original incarnation.

So that's what the statement is aimed at. Power Pack was a team when Katie was 6, but largely hasn't been active in the last 3-4 years. During that time, she's been a solo adventurer and then Power Pack got back together to go aid the Future Foundation (referencing the sudden appearance of Power Pack (as a team) in FF #15.

Note: The 2000 mini-series aged Katie to 8, but also made her a genius who was already in high school and created a plot resolution that was meant to disband the team permanently (and Power Pack subsequently did not appear in any mainstream Marvel comic for the next 17 years), and FF #15 completely ignored it and acted like Power Pack was still a thing, with Jack and Katie back in their pre-2000 mini-series personalities. Hence, why the 2000 mini-series is ignored with extreme prejudice.

tl;dr: the idea is that Power Pack was a thing 4 years ago, kinda did their own thing, got together recently to save Franklin's ass (and punch Bentley's lights out) and then Katie disappeared.

Yeah, for the first one I just wasn't sure what to do for the age. I could at least make that more like more like over a thousand years. My basic idea is that this Loki is only somewhat older to the Thor and Loki of the MCU in the first Thor movie.

As for the second point, I had managed to be under the mistaken impression that Mojo had conquered the various multiverses and brought everyone under his subjection. I can easily fix that to fit the actual narrative you have. As for villain!Thor, he could easily be a loose thread potentially allying with the Chitarui or the Enchantress behind the scenes to take Asgard for himself and to get back at Loki by conquering Midgard and being what causes that universe's Avengers to come together (with one main change being that Captain America and Loki actually met during WWII for one of Steve's missions which then would lead to that Cap vouching for Loki to everyone else and him joining the Avengers in the normal course of that universe).

Whatever works for the rp though. I really want to see this one through.

Loki's now edited based on the feedback.
