THE STREETS// SAN FRANCISCO

Interacting with@Lord Wraith and @King Kindred.

Wally left the tower in a flash of yellow and red, clicking a button on his wrist all the doors between him and the main door opened as fast as the mechanisms could manage. A little tweak he had them make to the tower after the first time he ran face first into a door. He really had to speak to Barry about figuring out how to be able to phase, as a skill it would be handy. Not even slowing down as he came to the water, his footsteps only touching for a fraction of a second causing enough pressure to keep him above water as a wake shot up behind him.

Twisting and turning, diving and weaving he worked his way through the streets towards the chaos that was like a beacon to Cinderblocks location. Arriving just as the goliaths, or perhaps monolith was a better descriptor, arms were about to come crashing down on the poor cops who were the first on the scene. Their guns raised towards the stone golems face.

Grabbing one he pulled them off to the side out of the way, followed quickly by the second.

"Thanks Speedy"

"No, I'm Kid Flash Speedy is-" He was interrupted by the crash of fist on pavement and the unmistakable aggravated roar of a very upset bad guy. "-hold that thought for later, get the bystanders out of here."

Pulling one of the officers batons from his belt, he ran straight at Cinderblock, diving and striking him in the back of the knee. The baton snapped in half, probably a bad sign. Twisting he picked up a piece of debris and tossed it at Cinderblock head, missing by a fraction of an inch. I hope Roy didn't see that.

Stopping infront of the raging rock monster, Wally tapped his foot impatiently. "So I forgot to ask last time, do you just look like a rock-?" He dashed to the side as Cinderblock charged him again. "-Or are you dumb like one too?"

Cinderblock roared in frustration and turned back to a coffee shop that sat at the bottom of an apartment complex, ten tenants practically hanging out of their windows to get a better look at what was going on. The beast charged, the people inside screamed. Wally ran and charged, driving his shoulder into Cinderblock... Who didn't even seem to take notice.

Running on towards the coffee shop. That was a mistake Wally, rescue the bystanders first... There wasn't going to be time now, there wasn't a way to-

There was a whine overhead as the T-Bird, T-Jet? Whatever their benefactor had named his favourite toy came in overhead, the noise distracted the monster as he picked up a car and tossed it, Wally took the opportunity to run in and clear the coffee shop, pulling the alarm as he did so. Even going back for an ant-farm that had left behind. Who even took an ant farm to a coffee shop? Writers were weird.

By this point the big Double-W and S-B had arrived on the scene. "And that building needs to be evacuated." Wally gave a small mock bow as Troia addressed him.

"For you M'Lady, anything." Turning back around, all bystanders would see was a yellow and red blur running back and forth between the end of the street and into the buildings surrounding the coffee shop. By the time he was at the top floor Cindys most recent attack had managed to reverberate through the building. Wally cursed as he came skidding to a halt as the corridor fell ahead of him.

Turning back he looked out the window at the other end of the hall. Oh this is a bad idea. Glass crashed into the street as Wally appeared, tipping forward his arms became a blur as he spun them in opposite directions creating twin vortexes beneath him. Slowing his fall, grunting as he collided with the pavement. Rolling very ungracefully, he got back up ignoring the pain and offered a smile to Troia who at this point was working to restrain Cinderblock. "Buildings cleared boss."

Titans Together! #1.22
Interaction(s): Green Lantern - @Hillan, Martian - @Half Pint
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Ice to meet you, Titans."

The three had barely arrived on the scene before the situation escalated from ensuring that civilians made it out of Cinderblock's aftershock to actively preventing them from suffering at the hands of his jailbreaker. As Icicle Jr's initial wave of artic blasts pelted against Green Lantern's personal energy shield, Robin and Martian leaped out of the way of a stray blast that the two had initially thought was meant for them - only for it to encapsulate the area surrounding the civillians that Rayner had just pulled out of a collasping building. A few were immediately frozen solid, while others screamed as giant icicles sprang out of the concrete in a stalagmite formation. The few who were caught in the direct path of ice tried to dodge the coming wave of razor-sharp spikes, only to end up pinned against a partially collapsed wall as the ice rose several feet above the ground. Having landed following a roll, Robin gritted his teeth as Icicle Jr's gleeful laughter managed to drown out the sounds of the chaos. Placing two of his fingers to the back panel of his utility belt, his hand readily accepted the spring-loaded Bird-a-rangs from within a hidden compartment.

He knew that what he was about to do was dangerous. Icicle Jr. was a known metahuman, the successor to a nasty character that an elder group of heroes had dealt with on many occasions. Dick had only skimmed that clown's profile in the files of The Batcomputer when he was studying potential superpowered threats, an idea that had come to him following his initial run-in with Clayface. Being alot younger at the time, Grayson had just assumed the original Icicle was something of a joke - even largely seen by Wally as something of a poor man's Captain Cold - and thought nothing of him since. Muttering a curse for the arrogance of his youth, Robin forced the thought to the back of his mind. It didn't matter how dangerous the newcomer was - people were in immediate danger, and if Icicle wasn't thrown off his guard quickly, someone could easily die. Breaking into a sprint towards the villain, Robin looked over his shoulder at his now hovering teammate.

"Martian, handle the civilians. You could free them faster than anything I've got. I'll cover you while GL's getting a second wind."

Icicle Jr. quickly spotted the approaching former Boy Wonder and grinned. Probably assumed that he'd be the easiest of the three to dispatch, and Robin didn't necessarily disagree. Which is why he had to rely on years of training that taught him the value of using an opponent's ability to underestimate him. It had happened far too many times in Gotham. Even The Penguin had taken one look at the boy in red and green tights and laughed during their first encounter, making a crack about how the scary Bat had taken to working with a multi-colored nestling. One broken nose and fractured rib later, and Cobblepot had suddenly lost his mirth. Dodging the initial retaliatory blast that Icicle shot his way, Robin was determined to repeat history.

Tossing six Bird-a-rangs at his current obstacle, Robin leapt into a hangspring and flicked the button on his gauntlet that released both halves of his bo-staff. As he somersaulted into the air, watching Icicle become momentarily distracted by having to freeze the metal projectiles aimed directly for his extremities, Robin then connected the two ends and shot the completed staff into the pavement, propelling him higher into the air while he launched into a pole vault. Icicle had already managed to spin around by the time that the "Squire" landed hunched atop a street lamp above him.

"Heh, that's really all you got? I thought you Gotham boys liked to play rough!"

Before Robin could let out a retort, Icicle raised a hand and blasted another beam of sub-zero energy. But The Caped Crusader's ex-protege didn't seem particularly phased, spinning the staff in one hand and retrieving a line attached to a hook in the other as he stepped back and dropped from the lamp. As the metal beam above him was encapsulated in thick ice, Robin revealed that the line was still attached - now even more firmly so by Icicle's blast - before diving into an immediate swing. Placing the soles of his boots high into the air, the former Boy Wonder effectively dropkicked Icicle in the face. Sending the villain staggering for a moment, Robin pushed off of him and vaulted in the opposite direction, twisting his body so that his staff connected hard against the back of Icicle's skull.

"Against The Nepo Sno-cone? Hardly seems worth the effort."

Robin smirked as Icicle growled at that, angrily rubbing the back of his blue-skinned head. In his head, Grayson was still evaluating the amount of distance that it had taken to properly distract Icicle enough to pull off his little maneuver. He had barely thrown the Bird-a-rangs from four feet away, which had only managed to distract his target for three and a half seconds. If he really wanted to get Icicle to focus on him and forget the civilians, and potentially even lose sight of what his teammates were doing, he'd have to dig deeper into that wounded pride.

"What's with you cold types and puns, anyway? Was there a convention? Because this is coming from the kid who used to wear pixie boots: it's never worked."

Icicle narrowed his gaze at the mocking protege. "Careful, birdie. Despite appearances, I've got less chill than you think."

Robin responded by vaulting forward and launching an additional eight Bird-a-rangs at him.

"If that was supposed to disprove my point, I've got news."

In a sweeping flash of light, the eight projectiles were rendered useless as they dropped from the air and shattered as balls of ice. Icicle sprinted forward with an outstretched hand, ready to turn Robin into a human popsicle before he could make his next move. What the cold-themed attacker didn't realize was what remained hidden in the former Boy Wonder's hand: a collection of small flash grenades. Icicle had just managed to get within range to flash-freeze the vigilante before he was hit in the face with enough lumons to blind his corneas for ninety seconds. Screaming out in pain, the villain grabbed at his face as he slipped, hitting the side of a nearby car.

He wasn't out by any means. But he was angry.

And Robin's experience, anger always lead to sloppiness.

Megan entered the floating green limo with great curiosity. Of course, she had seen Kyle's light constructs before, but being that she could fly she'd never had any need to be transported by them. Nevertheless, there was something delightfully surreal about climbing into a glowing emerald limousine flanked by her two team-mates in their full hero gear. She'd always loved the prom episodes of the old sitcoms she watched growing up, it almost felt like she was in one had it not been for the alien driving the car and the destination being a disaster zone.
"All this needs is a corsage and a chaperone." she quipped with a smile, settling into her seat.

For a moment her mind traced back to the 'Squire and Paladin' comments from before. If those two were the dashing knights, what did that make her? She searched for an answer, but to her knowledge the only green things she could think of were monsters, goblins and orcs. Was that how others saw her? A monster? An other? She didn't like the thought. It sat heavy in her chest, she'd be lying if she said it was an unfamiliar feeling. She shook the thought out of her head, it was just insecurity playing up again. There were more important things to worry about now, civilians to save and bad guys to beat up.

They arrived on the scene surrounded by chaos. Troia had made the right decision sending Green Lantern on this mission, without him the casualties from the collapsing building would have been too many to think of, now there were none to speak of. She floated over to the guards frozen in place. She'd suspected Cinderblock must have had help to escape as soon as the call came in. Saying he was all brawn and no brains was putting it lightly, the only surprising part of all this was the ice. With a few light punches she carefully shattered the ice rooting the guards in place enough for them to break free. One of them nodded to her, murming out a quick 'Thanks', and she gave him a reassuring smile in return before floating backward towards Robin. Her skin prickled. Something was wrong.

That was when the cold hit.

A sudden whoosh of sub-zero wind howled down the street like a shrieking banshee, sending the two diving out of the way, and in its wake came a jagged wave of ice. It erupted from the crowd, catching the early morning sun as it twisted upward, an unnatural glacier clawing across the asphalt. Megan turned in time to see the green shimmer of Kyle's shield snap into place as a reflexive wall.

But the attack didn't stop there. It veered, unpredictably and deliberately, away from the Titans and toward the civilians huddled behind rubble and twisted metal. The very people Kyle had just saved.

A few were caught instantly. Megan's heart lurched as a pair of figures froze mid-sprint, their terrified faces locked behind translucent frost. Others screamed as the wave of icicles burst up from beneath them, spearing out of the pavement like some grotesque crystalline forest.

Robin turned over his shoulder as he charged towards the villain.
"Martian, handle the civilians. You could free them faster than anything I've got. I'll cover you while GL's getting a second wind."

She didn't hesitate.
"On it!"

She shot toward the nearest group, phasing through a crumbling car and weaving between falling debris like a ghost. The mother and child were the first she reached. Encased up to their knees in jagged ice, they trembled as the frost spread slowly upward. Megan pressed her hands against the ice and closed her eyes, letting her mind unfurl into the structure like vines through stone.

The ice trembled, then cracked with a crystalline groan. She guided the shards away from their skin with delicate control, reshaping rather than shattering it. She breathed deeply, this was a way she'd used her telekinesis that she'd never thought of before. Once free, the child clung to her without a word, sobbing. Megan held him for a moment, before gently floating both mother and son toward safety.

The air behind her flashed as Robin launched into one of his acrobatic assaults, a blur of Bird-a-rangs and staffwork, all distraction and misdirection.

"Hang on, Robin." she whispered to herself, moving faster.

Another civilian, a security guard, was pinned beneath a twisted lamppost entombed in ice. Megan phased downward, solidified just enough to grip the frozen metal, and with a grunt of psychic force she bent it sideways. The man yelped as the pressure vanished from his ribs, coughing through the cold.

"You're okay. Get moving. That way!" she ordered, pointing toward the green shimmer of Kyle's regrouping construct.

The world erupted again in a burst of light. She shielded her eyes just in time to catch the edge of Robin's flash grenades exploding against Icicle Jr's face. The villain's scream echoed through the ruins. She didn't need enhanced hearing to feel the rage boiling off him.

"Lantern! Martian! I've bought you a minute!"

She was confident a minute would be all they needed. She turned sharply towards the cluster of civilians that had been caught in the direct path of the ice and were now pinned to the wall. Jagged spikes jutted out from the ground in wild, irregular formations, and some had shot up with such force they pinned people against the fractured remains of a shopfront wall. Coats were speared. Arms pressed back at unnatural angles. One man's pant leg was hooked and frozen, leaving him dangling half-sideways like a marionette.

Megan's stomach turned, but she didn't waste a second. She dropped into a hover just feet from the wall, eyes scanning the ice formations. Phasing them all out at once was too risky, the angles were unpredictable, and some spikes had lodged dangerously close to skin. If she tried to do too much at once she'd surely end up injuring someone. She mentally thanked Robin for giving them a bit of breathing room, and hoped in part that her mental gratitude stayed inside her own head.

She reached out with her telekinesis, fingertips moving like a conductor's baton. The ice responded, cracking with soft groans as she bent the spikes gently away from cloth, away from flesh. Some she twisted sideways until they snapped free from the wall, others she reshaped entirely, curling their tips down like the edge of a wave.

A teenage girl fell forward with a gasp as the shard through her hoodie snapped away. Megan caught her mid-collapse, steadying her and pointing her toward a patch of cover behind a flipped city bus. She moved down the wall, freeing another, a delivery driver with a bloodied arm and panic in his eyes. The ice pinning his sleeve to the bricks shattered with a controlled flick. She phased just enough to slip past him, guiding his descent as he stumbled away.

By the time the last of them was free, her breath had quickened. Cold stung her skin. The ambient temperature had dropped again. She rose up into the air, sparing a glance back. The civilians were moving, wounded and scared perhaps, but alive. She allowed herself a breath of relief before turning back toward the fight. Icicle Jr was regaining his composure, and she could see Robin gearing up for his next assault. She drifted to his side, shoulders squaring.

"I think that's everyone safe!" She spoke, a hint of nervousness in her tone. Her attention turned to their enemy now, and she put on as brave a voice as she could. "I've never fought a walking icicle before." she said, more to herself than to Robin. "Time to crank the justice thermostat all the way up to warm! It was evident that quipping still eluded her as she glanced at the confused experssions around her for approval. "...But like, uncomfortably warm!"

Superboy arrived on the scene just in time to see Cinderblock launch the first car at the T-Bird. What was with villains and sometimes even heroes using people's cars to fight? He was from a future where insurance was no longer a thing and even he knew people worked hard for their cars and they weren't easy or cheap to replace. After the T-Bird maneuvered out of the way of the vehicular projectile he flew behind and caught the car and placed it gently on the ground. Hopefully the owner could find it with one of those chirp chirp keys. He turned around to see Cinderblock lifting another car. "Dude. Seriously?" Conner ran up to stop him, but that was when Troia arrived to stop the car from moving. Saved from laundry duty. He focused back on the situation and added to his sister's one-liner. "And have some consideration for the people. Villain Attack Insurance is expensive."

Cinderblock then made a point to prove how little consideration he had for the people, their lives, and their livelihood by punching their building. He didn't know if it was the suped up juice he was on making him act this way or if he really did have so little consideration of others. He couldn't help but call back to the conversation the team had back at the Tower. Was Cinderblock one of the ones who had to go or was there something bigger going on here? He was snapped back to attention by Wonder Girl calling his name. He nodded. "I got it and I'll be back in a Flash to help you."

Superboy dashed over to the building and hovered up to where the steel column was warped. He used his X-Ray vision to analyze the structure for any weaknesses that could topple him and others in the area if he wasn't careful. Thankfully the hit was clean enough to not rupture more than it should. He used his heat vision to seal a few cracks in the bricks surrounding the column before bending it back into place with his super strength. He sighed with relief and used his heat to seal the ruptures in the steel before lowering to the ground and picking up the broken off pieces of the building and putting them back in place like a puzzle, his mind recalling exactly how the building looked and where each piece fell even in the dust. He used his heat vision once again as a sealant to glue the pieces of this puzzle back into place.

Superboy turned with an annoyed expression to the distracted Cinderblock and nodded to Troia to show her that he was done and about to move. As soon as his head fell so did he towards the giant monument picking him up from his right arm and flying off towards the Headlands. "You're coming with us. Where you'll have no one to use as pawns in our fight."

As Superboy nodded, Troia moved forward with all her might. Sheathing her weapon and saddling her shield across her back, Troia quickly freed her hands before using them to tightly grip Cinderblock's arm. On the other side of the stone behemoth was Superboy, helping to pilot the blockman into the air as they shakily gained height. Cinderblock continued to struggle, letting out a frustrated roar as his skin fractured beneath the crushing grip of either Titan. Lashing out, he managed to kick a nearby antenna before one final push from Wonder Girl and Superboy finally had him free of the city.

Behind the pair, Jupiter deftly piloted the T-Bird. The whole fight had been broadcast to rally further support for the Titans. Jupiter had to admit that moving the fight out of the city was a good call, that would surely get them some support, if at the very least from the civilians exhausted with paying into their insurance.

Perhaps it was his pride, but Jupiter realized all too late that Cinderblock had managed to rip an arm free, using the momentum to hurl himself back toward the T-Bird. Attempting evasive maneuvers, Jupiter was too late as the falling boulder of a man cleaved a wing from the aircraft, sending it into a downward spin as the Titans' sponsor quickly found himself out of his depth, unable to regain control of the vehicle. Cinderblock, meanwhile, was happy to allow gravity to propel him back towards the city. At this height and his weight, he'd achieve terminal velocity in seconds, turning himself into a devastating meteor.

Troia gasped in horror at how quickly the situation had gotten out of hand and cursed herself for not simply ending this her way.

"I'm not fast enough to get to Cinderblock, go!" She ordered Superboy before pivoting and flying towards the T-Bird. She cursed herself for not bringing the Emerald Paladin along. She had underestimated Cinderblock's intelligence, and now there was a price to pay.

Surely her teammates investigating the breakout site were doing better.

"ENOUGH OF THIS!"

Revealing both palms and fingertips as illuminated by a pulsating energy, Icicle Jr. roared with a rage befitting a man who'd reached his limit. From the look of how his body was conducting billowing frost and ice that rose from his pores, it seemed as if the three Titans had pushed him hard enough to charge something within his powerset. It was as if his abilities were directly linked to his emotional state, tethered only by his mental instability. Clocking the incoming attack, Robin took an immediate defensive stance, raising his bo-staff infront of him like a shield. Nevertheless confident that he and M'Gann were ready for whatever the Victor Fries wannabe had in store.

But as Icicle's arms raised above his head and his hands clasped together, the intensity of the energy's glow seemed to be climbing fast - a circle of thick snow floated around him, steadily building into a torrential sheen. Robin's eyes widened as he realized that whatever this was, Icicle Jr.'s other ice attacks had paled in comparison. Just as he retracted the staff and reached into his belt for another grapple, Martian quickly flew ahead of him, forearms raised above her face in an attempt to shield herself and her teammates from the blast.

"Martian, don't---!"

Too late. In a flash of light, a tundra of frost exploded from Icicle's position and engulfed the area in a massive spiderweb pattern. The force of the blast tore into multiple fire hydrants and flash-froze the water into stilled geysers of ice, hit street lamps so hard that the metal whined and the glass of the bulbs shattered, and instantly flattened the sides of the remaining abandoned cars. Her trajectory compromised, Martian was thrown backwards - followed quickly by Robin himself - who noticed a distant green light that indicated the Green Lantern was still a few blocks away. Tumbling through the air, Robin took a deep breath and utilized his training as a gymnast to steady himself. The result wasn't as effective as he'd liked, but it was enough to get him to spot a nearby anchor point.

Alright, Grayson. Time for the hat trick.

Firing a line at the abandoned coffee shop's flagpole, The Teen Wonder used his thigh to knock himself off of a brick wall and redirect into a swing forward, feeling like he nearly dislocated the joint in the process. Ignoring the pain, Robin reached out and grabbed a still airborne Martian by the waist, locking his arm around her as the grapple went taut and allowed the two to fall to the sidewalk with considerably less momentum. Robin landed on his back, which hurt worse than the impact with the wall. But he surmised that they were both in better shape than if they'd been where they'd just stood. Martian had landed ontop of him, which just made his position all the more uncomfortable.

"Sorry, force of habit. I know you can fly."

Robin flashed her a pained grin as she rose to her feet, immediately dusting snow off her arms.

"Just never passed up an opportunity to rescue a pretty girl."

"THIS WAS NOT HOW THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO GO!"

Icicle Jr. could be seen in the distance, rising above a mountain of snow and ice. His expression was as impetuous as before. Robin sighed to himself, mumbling something about there being no rest for the wicked, before rolling onto his chest and pushing himself up. His body felt a little banged up, but his spirit was no less ready to keep up the fight.

"THAT SHOULD'VE PUT YOU BOTH ON ICE! HOW THE HELL ARE YOU NOT DEAD?! YOU'RE JUST A COUPLE OF FREAKIN' KIDS!"

Titans Together! #1.27: The Way It Goes
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Interaction(s): Robin - @Master Bruce, Miss Martian - @Half Pint

"Ice to meet you, Titans."

Do you have any idea how much it sucks being frozen? Kyle found out. The wave of sub-zero energy consumed him, his energy shield provided limited protection. It felt like all of his strength left him as the blue energy surrounded him. It encapsulated him in ice. It was an ambush. He hadn't paid attention, he hadn't scanned properly. He hadn't come prepared. He had assumed that because they were Titans, nobody was gonna mess with them. He assumed their fame and powers would act like a shield. Allowing The Green Lanterns ignorance. He didn't need to be careful or critical, he could just blindly assume everything was going to be okay. He feared that he was wrong.

For a brief moment, Kyle felt like it was all slipping away. It was all being encased in that ice, the block formed around him, first blue, then black, then see-through. His eyes felt like they were in the middle of a freezer. It reminded him of the fast-food job he used to have. Way back when. Before all of this. Before he was The Emerald Knight. When he was just a kid.

The kid. The girl who thanked him a minute ago. The ones who mistook him for Booster Gold. The people working, visiting and living here. Every person around them, they were all scared. Kyle could taste the fear in the air, he thought. Then he realized that in his now very limited real-estate inside of the ice-casing that held him in place, he wasn't tasting any air at all. The fear was coming from him. The ice set in deeper, his shield powering down, his heartbeat slowed. His eyes lost their green glimmer, returning to their natural hazel.

All of those people. They didn't deserve this. They were powerless against the wrath of the frosted villain. Against all of the creeps, ghouls and monsters of the world. Powerless against the metaphorical, and sometimes actual dragons of the world. They had regular lives to live and they had to live them in fear.

Fear... What a concept. His heartbeat was slowing almost to a complete halt. It wasn't the first time, just this time he wasn't bleeding out while it happened. This was different, this was his first real fight. The first time he had been ambushed like this. At least since... Then.

Rayner had never been one for fighting. Not before all of this. He was a painter, he played music, he drew portraits, he read comics and he watched so many movies. Art was his escape from the fear. From the fear of never fitting in, of never belonging. Fear of never having a purpose. The fear of not being good enough. Fear of the bullies in elementary school, fear of not being a good enough son. A good enough friend. Fear of failing his classes, fear of the people he could never befriend. Fear of turning on the news and seeing another superpowered maniac hurting people. Of seeing the worlds leaders make one bad choice after another. The world had so much darkness in it, and for a while that was all Kyle saw.

His blackest night was when he was alone in his crappy Honda Civic that night when the star fell. He wasn't planning on coming home that night, he wanted to start over. To leave his mom, their family and his old life behind, for them to live uncertain of what happened to him and how he was doing. He intended to leave them with that fear. That night, in the burning wreckage of his car, he found something. Or perhaps... It found him. Did he want to make a better world in all of this darkness? That was what it had asked him, as his punctured heart was bleeding him dry. He had responded. Suddenly, there was a light.

Ba-dum

Was it an accident, would the star have fallen on anyone else that night? Did he deserve to have gotten a second chance, or should he have just been another burning wreckage on the 9-o'clock news? Was this... Thing in his chest his, or does he belong to it? His heart had been pierced, yet it had made him whole. It had made him better, given him a chance at all new life. A way to keep on living. The darkness swelled.

Ba-dum... Ba-dum. The ice around him began to vibrate.

All of the people around him needed to live free from fear. To be safe and secure. To not worry about the scum that seek to harm them. The sadistic maniacs who cause harm for the sake of it. Those that use their power to subjugate others to their will. Kyle had seen the inhabitants of the falling building he just held up carry each other. Save one another. Care for each other. The world certainly had darkness, but people provided a light. They didn't have powers like the Titans. They didn't have fame or a fancy name that acted like a shield. They just had each other. He wanted to protect that. To ensure life could keep on prospering. In the cold, nothing could thrive. That's why his mind moved to warmth, the rays of the sun. The way it provides nurture.

Ba-dum... Ba-dum... Ba-dum... His heartbeat was back. His mind was so focused on the warmth of the sun that he was almost surprised when he opened his emerald eyes to find that the sun was beaming on his skin. Under him the energy he radiated had made white flowers and grass grow beneath him, through the asphalt. What had felt like hours had only taken less than a minute.
His glowing eyes darted around him, taking in the situation. Miss Martian had freed the civilians, Robin had tackled Icicle head-on. A brave knight, indeed. they had moved the fight away from here, away from the people. A wave of green energy shot into the sky, reducing the remaining ice in the city block to little more than drips of water. A cheer was heard around him as Kyle blasted into the air, a pair of binoculars formed around his mask. Heat-sensors, or rather - cold sensors.

Seeing the drops of temperature directly, Kyle could instantly locate where the three where. And he could see the lowest temperature readings he had ever recorded coming from the frost-villain. He was angry and careless, about to let out all of his power on the two Titans, who had just tumbled to the ground as they avoided the blast. The web-pattern covered the city block, and Kyle felt the burning sensation in his chest. He wasn't gonna let anyone else get hurt for his mistake of ignorance.

In the air for but a split second, Kyle's green flames enveloped him as he dove.

"THAT SHOULD'VE PUT YOU BOTH ON ICE! HOW THE HELL ARE YOU NOT DEAD?! YOU'RE JUST A COUPLE OF FREAKIN' KIDS!" Icicle Jr. Screamed, readying another blast, bigger than the one before. Focused on the two-floored Titans. "FREEZE TO DEATH!" He shouted as the vortex of frost turned into a cone focused solely on The Boy Wonder and the Martian Miracle. As the ice moved, the green flame landed in between the frost and the Titans, forming a six-segmented shield in a crescent around them. The shield had a valve in it, like a slide going upwards, leading almost all of the energy into the air rather than around them. Behind the shield, green flames didn't burn hot, yet they melted the ice under and a few meters behind Kyle. He was kneeling, his arm holding the shield in place.

"No place like in the eye of a snowstorm, huh? You ok?" He yelled over the sound of the storm at his two allies, the 15 meter shield being pelted like a rooftop during a hailstorm, vibrating under the pressure.

"What the hell?!" Icicle cried as the vortex of ice dispersed into the air, and the shield powered down, revealing the Emerald Knight in-front of his two allies, shrouded in a wave of green flames. Snowflakes had begun raining down from the blast that had been poured into the sky.

"Surp-ice. There's three of us meddling kids." Kyle quipped in a very dry and serious tone.

His ears were ringing and he tasted iron. He felt every neuron in his brain fired up with adrenaline and it took all of his focus to remain on task, to not lose control of what he created. After two massive blasts, the ice villain was winded and tried to regain his composure. His teammates regaining their footing, he took charge. Kyle advanced on the ice villain who threw ice-darts at him, he weaved past them, each step propelled him further. Icicle tried to create an ice-wall to stop Kyle's sprinting advance. Under his right foot, a jet engine appeared and he was propelled forward by a rocket boot increasing his speed and making it past the rising wall.

He pulled his arm back. The way Troia had taught him, put all your weight into it she said. Close your fist, except leave a small bubble of air inside of it. Rotate your entire body into the motion. His arm propelled forward.
For a split second as he came into contact with Icicle Jr's face, Kyle's mind was still and truly focused. His fist collided with such force that it cracked the ice-shell the villain used to protect himself. After the attack, the leap sent him tumbling on the ground. Icicle was rocked about 50 meters, hitting the frozen over fountain in the small park area, cracking the ice-surface.

Climbing to his feet, Kyle remained unsure if the villain was done for, but he felt the beating in his chest slow down as his flames grew less intense, conserving energy in case the snowman wanted to box some more.

Megan glanced up at the frozen fool as he began to charge his attack. This was her moment to shine, to show the team what she was made of, that she was an equal amongst her more seasoned comerades. She drew her fist back, charging forward passed Robin as quickly as she could, ready to sock Icicle Jr. straight in the mouth and halt his big attack.

The closer she got, the colder she felt. Her natural weakness was fire, but that's not to say she was strong against the cold. She felt the snow pelting against her skin, it was colder than cold. She'd never felt frost like this before, it was like a blizzard in the arctic. Fear began coursing through her veins, suddenly she didn't feel so confident she could stop this guy, that the three of them could. She turned back just as Robin called out to her, she could see Kyle not far behind racing to join the two. She couldn't stop him, but she could try and protect them.

Megan raised her arms defensively across her face, the sheer force of energy altering her flight path entirely and sending her cartwheeling backwards out of control. She tried her best to remain composed, regain her balance and steady herself in the air. But she was panicking, this was all too much for her to handle. Maybe she should never have come here, or if she had just tried to blend in with the regular humans instead of trying to help others? Who was she kidding, she was no hero, not like the rest of these guys.

Suddenly she felt an arm wrap around her waist, and she realised she wasn't falling anymore. For a heartbeat, Megan thought it might be another attack, until she realized she was no longer tumbling. She blinked and found herself clutched firmly against Robin's side, the two of them swinging low across the frozen street like something out of a spy movie.

Robin twisted midair, cushioning their fall with a practiced roll. Or at least, that had probably been the plan. Instead, the landing was less than graceful, he hit the sidewalk on his back with a painful thud, and she landed right on top of him, her knee awkwardly pressed into his side and one hand smushed against his chest.

"Sorry, force of habit. I know you can fly."

Megan scrambled to get off him, brushing snow out of her hair and trying not to look as mortified as she felt."Sorry! Sorry!" she blurted, hovering a few inches in the air like the ground had personally offended her. "I didn't mean to...um...crash-land.""

Megan blinked, suddenly all too aware of how close they'd landed, her practically sprawled across him like a dropped coat. Her brain, in its infinite wisdom, decided now was a great time to hyperfocus on how warm he was, despite all the ice around them. That wasn't helpful. Not at all. Her ears tingled with the Martian equivalent of a blush. She shook it off.

"Just never pass up an opportunity to rescue a pretty girl." he added with a grin.

She raised an eyebrow, trying not to react, but a flicker of something small and fluttery lodged in her stomach anyway. That was probably just from the turbulence, right?

Right.

Before either of them could say anything else, Icicle Jr.'s bellow ripped across the block, jolting them both back to the moment. A cone of ice tore its way through the ground towards them quicker than they could react. Megan braced herself for another impact, when a ripple of green flame burst in front of them and redirected the frost safely away.

It was like she blinked and Kyle had appeared in front of them, shouting over the anarchy going on around them. Something felt different about him, he was always confident, but he was like a demon of a man in front of them. She watched in awe as he deftly dodged around Icicle Jrs onslaught and sent a jawbreaker through his ice shield that would surely have broken concrete.

Megan hovered down beside Kyle, her boots pressing into the slush of melted ice.
"Wow, great punch!" She said imitating his strike into thin air.

Her gaze flicked past him, settling on the fountain. Icicle Jr.'s limp body was hanging half out of the fountain, with his head under the water.

"Let me check his mind."

She floated upward slightly, her arms folding across her chest, and reached out with her thoughts. It was like dipping into half-frozen water. Disjointed memories. Panic. Bits of words that didn't form anything solid. Confusion spun in circles around his brain.

"He's out. His brain feels like wet paper..."

Then something shifted. Her brows drew together sharply. A flicker of movment within him. That rising swell of dumb defiance she'd felt in other criminals just before they made one last, bad decision.

"...wait."

Her feet hit the ground just as the villain's head stirred, eyelids cracking open through frost. Megan didn’t hesitate.

She phased through a jagged bank of ice, fist already drawn back. Her whole body moved in a blur of green. The punch wasn't elegant or practiced. But her knuckles cracked against his cheek all the same and he went limp again. She telekinetically dragged him out from the fountain onto dry land.

"I'm not sure if he can drown, but I think it's best not to take any chances."

"Let me check his mind."

The ache surging through his body aside, Robin almost couldn't believe how lucky they'd gotten in facing off against a metahuman as powerful as this. It had been far from the team's first rodeo, but they'd never encountered an opponent so heavily stacked against a mere third of them from the outset. Icicle Jr. had come in with the advantage of a surprise attack bolstering his apparent power-levels, and between the three of them - well, largely Rayner, if Dick was being honest - it had been a mercifully shorter fight than it could've been if it had been left to him and M'Gann alone. Hiding a slight smirk as it etched across his face, Robin placed a firm - but very much thankful - slap against the rejuvenating Lantern's shoulder. One thing that he'd consciously tried to avoid inheriting from his mentor was the inability to give proper credit where it was due.

"That was... insanely impressive. Nice going."

While it would have otherwise bothered him to know that the frostbitten Reddit-reject was taken down so quickly after Kyle entered the fray, Robin had witnessed his teammate's exertion of power firsthand. It couldn't have been easy to be flash-frozen, even for someone surging with enough juice to power an entire city in their chest. But Kyle had not only stepped up to free himself, he'd protected the two of them from a counter-attack and taken the creep down with a single punch. It was all enhanced by the abilities bestowed upon him, certainly, but Robin could tell that the feat had been pulled off entirely due to the man wielding them. That show of willpower earned his respect, even if the logistics of such downright magical cosmic enhancements were well beyond him.

"I'm not sure if he can drown, but I think it's best not to take any chances."

"Good call. I've got it from here."

Cracking his strained back with a stretch, Robin quietly compartmentalized the pain and strutted forward, his cape hiding the slight limp that it took just to move. He already dreaded the hours of icepack therapy and tea that awaited him when they returned to the Tower, but it was worth it to have reached an end that felt this victorious. Lantern had more than pulled his weight, and M'Gann - while still trying to find her footing in regards to approach - had done a hell of a job with the civilians. Not to mention her complimentary right hook after Icicle's second wind. Which had been a damn nice one, at that. Great form, too.

Careful there. Sounds like you're developing a schoolboy crush.

Pulling a spool of Bat-line out of his belt, Robin approached the unconscious Icicle as Martian gingerly drifted him to the ground. An attached Bird-a-rang at the end acted as a hook while the young vigilante bent down, quickly wrapping it around their enemy's body. Zig-zagging and tying a thick knot in crucial areas as he went, he remembered how he'd been put through enough drills in The Batcave as a kid to be able to parse the timing of this down to a few seconds.

Sure enough, by the time he rose, Robin stepped aside to reveal that Icicle Jr.'s arms and legs were bound tightly to his body. Even if he could try and get free, he'd find the special treatment in the line to be frost-resistant, given the many encounters with Mr. Freeze that line's creator had endured. Placing a loose strand of the cable into his grapple launcher, Robin aimed high at the sturdiest-looking overhead lamp and fired. The line soared through the air and collided neatly with the metal pole, breaking out into a few strands that all folded in on eachother until they appeared snug.

Grabbing the line still attached to Icicle Jr., Robin gave it a quick tug and stepped back. Lantern and Martian watched as the villain slid across the ground with increasing speed, until he finally rose into the air feet-first. The two of them had just witnessed the standard 'Gotham City Goodbye' when it came to similarly mannered scum: that is, dangling the receipient by a pole to be left for the police.

"Heh. Looks like Frosty's lost some magic from that ol' silk hat."

Placing two fingers to the side of his right ear, Robin tapped the two-way T-Communicator that lay within. Loren Jupiter had outfitted all of them with it, rightly taking such events into account. Now that they'd ensured civilian safety, put down the bad guy, and verified that there was no real way to interrogate him, per Martian's scan of his scattered memories, all that was left to do was for B-Team to check in on A-Team. Surely, they'd have made quick work of Cinderblock already. It was only Cinderblock, after all.

"Robin to Titans. Recon went a little south. But we bagged our baddie, and it doesn't look like there were any casualties."

"How's it going with yours?"

THE STREETS// SAN FRANCISCO

Popping a small block of what could be considered candy out of his belt, he popped it on his tongue. It popped and fizzed as the sugar was released into his system. It was a special concoction designed by himself and Barry. As a Speedster, Wally burned through his reserves quickly, so it always paid to keep on top of his energy levels. Watching as the two demi-god powered beings lifted the sentient pile of bricks into the sky to take him safely to the edges of the city. There was no rush for him to keep up. They were running him out of the city, he could easily catch up to the-

Wally nearly swore as he watched Cinderblock break free. Nothing audible escaped his lips, not to anyone without super-speed anyway, as he tore off, cars moved and shook in his wake as he passed through the desolate and ruined streets. Running until he was directly below the falling figure of Cinderblock. He couldn't catch him, there was no chance of that. Even if he had the strength, raw force, and velocity that the human brickhouse currently possessed, it would cause his arms to disintegrate into nothing but a red mist.

"Robin to Titans. Recon went a little south. But we bagged our baddie, and it doesn't look like there were any casualties."

His radio buzzed.

"How's it going with yours?"

Not well. Not very well at all.

There was only one thing he could do, a tactic he and Barry had used together on several occasions. He wasn't nearly as good at it as Barry, but desperate times. He started to run, and he ran in a circle. The air began to swirl, and whirl around. Small light pieces of debris started to pick up and spin around in a circle. Still, he drew it in, piling on even more speed. Lightning flared and buzzed behind him as he pushed himself onwards. Continuing as a blur, a cyclone of air formed as larger and larger debris joined in on the vortex as Cinderblock continued to fall towards him. There was a crack as the behemoth struck the top of the wind tunnel, and Wally had to fight back against the blowback from stopping Cinderblocks fall. He groaned through gritted teeth, daring himself to look up to see Cinderblock kicking and flailing, no doubt trying to get loose. No matter the speed Wally piled on, he could already see Cinderblock was slowly continuing to fall.

Digging deep, Wally pushed in with everything he had. Tapping his earpiece.

"Not great. I can't hold this guy for long, send help."

Titans Together! #1.31: Moments Frozen in Time
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Interaction(s): Wonder Girl - @Lord Wraith , Robin - @Master Bruce , and Kid Flash - @Sep
Previously: Titans Go!

Superboy nodded to Wonder Girl and flew down in pursuit of the vexatious and tenacious blockhead. He stopped midway when he noticed Kid Flash flying below. Deciding not to steal the speedster's thunder and allowing him to flex those leg and brain muscles of his. He studied the way he formed the tornado and thought about adding that move to his arsenal as well. It could come in handy.

When Kid Flash started to struggle Superboy knew it was almost time for him to act. He waited for Cinderblock to get in the calm area of the tornado before blowing down into the funnel, freezing the wind and debris inside the makeshift storm to create an icy sculpture prison for their giant pest. "Wow. Who knew we could turn something so ugly into something so beautiful? Gustavo and Otavio have nothing on us, KF."

He dropped to the ground next to Kid Flash and lifted one hand up for a high-five and the other to his earpiece. "Cancel that distress call. Cinderblock has been secured and is ready for the Iceberg Lounge, Robin. Hey, T-Bird. You guys okay up there?"
