Oh, man, was about to bring Spidey over here, but it looks like Ezekiel’s got him in the works, already.
Well, then, guess I’ll have to settle for my 2nd main Marvel guy.

◼ Psychic Powerset
As a Martian, of course J'onn has inherent psychic powers. His time as the Martian Manhunter though has taught him how to push his powers to their limits. He prefers to use his telepathy but he also has telekinesis that he can use to fly, psychic empathy where he can sense and affect others' emotions, psychic healing where he can use telepathy to heal mental wounds and telekinesis to heal physical wounds, psychometry where he can sense heavily emotional psychic 'echoes' left on places and objects and see a vision of that event, and light manipulation mostly used to create illusions. He cannot though psychically control or manipulate fire. For one thing, he has a pathological fear of it. And for another, Martian psychic powers have a strange side effect where fire tends to worsen and go out of control if any of their psychic energy is used on it.
◼ Shapeshifting
Shapeshifting is another inherent Martian trait, but he's trained to quickly alter his body, be able to change into any sort of form he can imagine, and be able to stay in the altered form for long periods of time. His time on Earth has gotten him to the point where he only feels the need to regain his Martian form once a month.
◼ Phasing
Technically an aspect of both shapeshifting and psychic powers, only among the most powerful and skilled Martians are able to turn invisible and phase through people, buildings, and objects at will. And J'onn J'onzz is among those so skilled. It is an incredibly draining power though so he can only keep it up for 5 minutes at a time.
◼ Superstrength, Reflexes, & Durability
Among humans, his strength, reflexes, and durability may only be little better than Batman, Captain America, or other low-level superheroes. But that is in part due to the fact that much of his strength and durability is being used to to live continually in the higher gravity world of Earth. On Mars, he's their equivalent to Superman.

◼ Acting
Shapeshifting alone can't help someone blend in. Through acting, he's able to play the role he needs to in order to do what he needs to.
◼ Psychological Analysis
His time studying to be a psychologist has given him some ability to analyze the people he's going against and plan the best outcome accordingly.
◼ Deductive Skills
He's no greatest detective, but he's gotten good at using his powers to find clues and culprits so he usually gets the right man.
- __________________________________________________________________________________T H E S T O R Y S O F A R...
T H E S T O R Y S O F A R...J'onn J'onzz had once been a content man. He was about to finish his psychology degree, he had a loving wife & two wonderful children, a boy and girl, and everything had seemed perfect. That was the point when he suddenly found himself developing super strength and related powers. J'onn tried to hide it, but the Martian United World Government had it's eyes, ears, and minds everywhere. One of their agents approached him about how he could better serve their world by being part of an elite taskforce. J'onn though refused, wanting to help people through healing their minds, not through fighting. But the government refused to let such a useful asset go. They burned down his house, overwhelmed when he sought to rescue his wife and children, made him watch his wife burn in the flames while he was helpless to stop her, and made him believe that his children were killed as well. Then they took him, broke all other resistance, made him psychologically afraid of fire, then molded him into their perfect weapon. To all official reports, J'onn J'onzz died with his family in that freak house fire. And the Martian Manhunter was born as he was sent to his first task in fighting the enemies of the state: the criminals (that didn't pay their bribes), the political dissenters, and the White Martian 'abominations'.
For some years, the Martian Manhunter did his duty, serving the government that forged him and trying to stay numb to the grief and guilt, in part to make sure his grieving parents did not suffer the same fate as his wife. There seemed to be no escape, no way he could get out. Until an Earth scientist accidently managed to teleport Manhunter to Earth then died of a heart attack after seeing what he'd done. At first, Manhunter fearfully wondered how he could get back to Mars. But then he realized, there was no way his government could realize that he was here. They would have no reason to suspect that he was anywhere but on Mars. He could take this chance and just, disappear. He made sure to bury the scientist then took time to get use to Earthen life and find out more about the planet he'd found himself on. Then he forged himself credentials of US citizenship and decided on the name John Jones, close to his original name and so less likely for him to forget that that's what he was called. After that, he decided to become a police officer in the local city because a, he felt he owed the nation something for coming in on such false pretenses, b, being a police officer would make the best use of the skillset he now had, c, it wouldn't take too long to become a police officer, d, a police station might be a better place to keep an ear out for if the Martian government did try to find him on Earth, and e, being a psychologist would be too obvious a move if they did hunt him down (and he wasn't sure if he could pursue that office back even if he wanted to).
And so he became Police Officer John Jones, well liked by his fellow non-corrupt officers and by those citizens he met regularly, and now has just risen to the office of Police Detective. And while the pressures of the job are challenging, he finds himself almost content again. But what will come next to snatch it all away from him?__________________________________________________________________________________P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S )
P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S )There were a couple things that inspired this version of the character. For one thing, I wanted to explore more the fact that he comes from Mars and so is used to lighter gravity worlds. Hence why his strength and durability while great by Martian standards is less by Earth standards. He then on Earth has needed to adapt to using his psychic powers and cunning even more as most of his strength is used in seeking to not collapse under Earth gravity. In that way, he becomes more interesting fight wise than just a 'psychic Superman to use when we don't have Superman'.
Then the other major idea was doing a different spin off the 'can't go home' part of his backstory. The golden age of course had there still be a functioning 'utopian' Martian society but the ability to travel between Earth and Mars hadn't yet been developed and so as far as he knew, he was trapped unless a miracle occurred or one of his own scientific projects worked. Then the more typical DC universe just has him be the last of his kind. So I decided to play with a scenario where Martians do still exist as a society but the government is an Soviet-esque authoritarian regime. And J'onn's powers were something they wanted to control for their own purposes. That then leads to J'onn taking the miraculous escape he was given and fully seeking to make a life for himself on Earth while staying out from under Martian radar as he does not want to be the weapon they turned him into.
Plot wise, I see him as striving to keep a low-profile and let himself heal but then other supers, both hero and villain, become more and more active and he finds himself needing to confront himself in order to emerge and help as he needs to. And the more he comes out into the open, the more that will draw the unfriendly eyes he was trying to hide from. Of course, his initial foes are gangs, gang leaders, and various common criminals. Then he develops human villains, some from the gangs that are out for revenge, that want to take advantage of him for their own ends, most of them seeking to trap him into the sort of life he had escaped from on Mars, others seeking to use his telepathy for their own different ends like with Bette Noir. Then there are also Martian villains who seek to bring him back home or kill him once he's discovered. I could see Malefic as the lead Martian scientist that was behind the experiments, torture, and brainwashing J'onn went through and so being J'onn's greater arc villain for that aspect of his story with Cay'an as one of his one of his subordinates and D'Kay D'Razz as another of his experiments. Then there could be White Martians who retreated to Earth from Mars with some seeking revenge on J'onn once they realize that he's on Earth as well. Then of course, J'onn's son and daughter are left open. The daughter could be this universe's equivalent to M'gann/Miss Martian, for instance.
But I am more flexible on exact villains. Just I could definitely see those roles for the Martians that come after J'onn and of his existing rouges gallery and connected characters, those seem like the best fits for the plot beats I'm thinking he'd be going through. Mostly though, I am imagining him as someone that can work with other heroes when they could use a police detective or just some extra help. I've placed him in New York because that seems the most central city where heroes could come across him and then he could also sometimes be shipped out temporarily to nearby cities like Gotham and Metropolis for certain cases. For instance, I could see him being sent on a Gotham arsonist case where Firefly's involved as his first meeting with Batman, which of course also puts J'onn directly in the line of fire for his biggest fear. I would be willing though to place him in another city if desired. Basically though, he's a guy that finds himself unable to not help others when he can and then through those connections gets the help and healing he needs against his own demons. All formatting originates via the work of Lord Wraith

◼ Power of The Old Gods:
Orion possesses superhuman strength, endurance, invulnerability and speed. There are no detectable weaknesses to his body, no silver bullet that would make him come undone. He does not need to breath air, as he is instead fueled by the source energy seeping into the universe. His lineage and his training and further enhancements by his adoptive father has made him even more powerful than his bloodline would have naturally granted him. When deeply angered he emits raw source energy from his body, further enhancing his physical strength and his divine wrath for a short time.
◼ Cybernetics:
His eyes have been modified to cure his blindness, in doing so they also gained the ability to enhance his hunting prowess. They allow him to scan, search and track just about anything he gets in his sights. This allows him to see over great distances, perceive source energy and complete biometric scans, amongst other things. He has a small range of other cybernetics as well, and isn't foreign to tweaking his body as seen fit for a particular job.
◼ Curse Of The Mad Gods and Titans:
The second son of the most evil being in the universe. And he's been further affected by the second most dangerous individual. There has never been a particularly strong outward light shining onto him. This means that his anger, true face, and even his madness are all prevalent and things he has to come to grips with on his own as there has never been anyone around to truly aid him.

◼ Warmaker
The spaceship Thanos provided for Orion, first class and capable of any dogfight in space. Not capable of assaulting a planet of it's own, prioritizing stealth over strength in great contrast to Orion's own abilities. The Warmaker is equipped with weapons, tools and areas to make more of either. The ship's quarters have plenty of space to house other beings, should Orion find the need to take a hostage... Or even more unlikely, make a friend.
◼ Bow of Orion
The Bow can change it's shape and function at the will of Orion, it often works as a Warglaive like that of his master. Other times as a longbow for a long distance precision shot, and sometimes as a close range handgun or scattershot. The bow is powered by Orion's own energy, allowing it to tape into the accursed Omega Affect that lives within Orion when necessary. The bow was specifically constructed by Thanos to make the most out of Orion's latent power.
◼ Battlesuit
His suit is equipped with all of the greatest technology the Black Quadrant has produced, and Orion is constantly upgrading it to make himself into an even greater weapon. It enhances his durability and aids him in tracking & hunting. Notably, it also allows him to fly for short bursts.

◼ Martial Arts
Orion is a well verse and practiced fighter in hand-to-hand, and also with most weaponry. He's excellent at improvisation and does not like to rely on his bow to handle a fight.
◼ Pilot
The Warmaker is a fine ship, and such a fine ship demands a fine pilot. Orion's been exploring the universe on his own, and there's few who outmaneuver his piloting skills.
◼ Hunter & Tracker
The hunter must hunt. Orion's greatest ability is that of the hunt. He finds a pray, a goal or a target and he will never let go.

◼ Mechanic
Orion is a mechanic by passion, whenever he allows himself such pursuits. And not in the means of maintaining his ship or his weaponry, those are part of his job. No, Orion's passion lies in creating things that are useless for his goal in life. Creating small trinkets, toys, comforts. Things that bring levity and joy to others.

T H E S T O R Y S O F A R...For Eons, since the piercing of the Source Wall, New Genesis and Apokolips have been at war. It's a war that's shaped the universe, this and those beyond. Highfather through many tribulations and challenges has assured that his people have a safe haven, he made New Genesis. On Apokolips, Darkseid is. Some time into their stalemate a new actor emerged. Emblazoned by the power of the old Eternals, from a world ravaged by the crossfire of the New Gods stood Thanos, the Warden of Titan. The last of his kind, and his might would serve as a way to swing the balance in the eternal war between New Gods.
Orion is the second son of Darkseid. He was born meak, malformed, blind and worthless, not even fit for the pits. However, his father found a use for him anyway. After a long grueling battle against Thanos's forces of the Black Quadrant, Desaad made a plan for a truce, one that allow Apokolips to return their focus towards their true enemy, New Genesis.
And so it was, the baby Orion was propped up as Darkseid's greatest weapon, the child that would inherit all of the lord's power. The one born of the wrath of the old gods, power incarnate. And Darkseid would hand this weapon, and a alliance of peace to the fading empire of the now mad Titan. All it would cost Thanos would be his most beloved. One of his twin daughters. Nebula was the only thing Thanos had ever felt love for, the only thing that proved he had a heart. But he would give it away to ensure the future of his empire. In exchange for a sickly, meek boy he gave away his beloved daughter. Dooming her to a life of servitude to the most evil being in all of creation. Thanos could not even comprehend the kind of torture she would endure under the hand of Darkseid. But he had his weapon, and he had the future of his empire now.
Of course, Thanos would realize that Darkseid lied. Orion was a pathetic child, weak and worthless. Yet upon realizing this betrayal, the Mad Titan grinned. He knew there would be more to this child, and more importantly. He knew that Darkseid had handed him a weapon that the evil god would never see coming.
And so it went, for Eons Orion was turned into the son of Thanos. His warmaker and his tracker. His one man that would get things done entire armies could not. All while shielding the New God from the truth about the terrors of The Empire of Titan. While Orion was hunting down criminals and allies of Apokolips, those that would conspire against his master, he would be spared witnessing most of the cruelties of the empire. Ensuring that the sensitive boy would always side with the good of his master.
Now, he has been tasked with finding a weapon powerful enough to break the truce against Darkseid. To bring war to the world of Apokolips and to prove to the New Gods of New Genesis that the age of gods is over, it is the time of the Titans.________________________________________________________________________________________P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S )
P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S )My original idea was to have Orion be the result of a pact between Odin and Darkseid. Substituting his life on New Genesis for one on Asgard. However, this game is clearly getting very crowded around the ol' Norse mythology. That's when an idea that's even more intriguing struck me. What if Thanos?
The Thanos & Darkseid conflict between DC and Marvel has always intrigued me - what would happen if these two would ever get to come to fight? This is my attempt of telling that story, by putting Orion smack in the middle of it. He's been raised to believe that Thanos is good yet violent. That anything cruel he would do in the name of Thanos is done in the interest of stopping Darkseid, the true enemy. He's been raised without the guidance of Highfather. Without the friendship of the New Gods and without the brotherly bond with Lightray. Orion is in some ways completely alone, yet in others he has new allies and awaits acquiring more of them.
I want to humanize the New Gods, as well as Thanos by doing this pulpy little space romp with the world's angriest son-of-multiversal-Satan. I'll sprinkle in some old mythology, and I foresee whatever that I do with Orion, Darkseid and Thanos could very well have repercussions on Earth if the game so desires.
His story will begin with the search for a weapon, the Power Stone. This will lead him to all sorts of places in a sort of Guardians Of The Galaxy-way, which is why I'll be borrowing most of his supporting cast from there. However, I wouldn't discourage anyone from doing an actual guardians of the galaxy story. I've got plans for Nebula, Gomorrah and Drax so far. I think my affinity and love for Cosmic Ghost Rider will also very clearly shine through in my storytelling.
