Sabine Bassard

Things were going well enough. Tatiana was scrambled, Thuy was getting pissed, Prudence was stunned and getting pummeled, and Ava had her mace taken. If they could continue this momentum, they could turn the tide.

However, that candy was still bugging her. It could be nothing, but it could mean more. And Vicky was her best bet. ”I can’t. I have to keep the fight going. If I stop and spend time trying to read their thoughts, I leave myself vulnerable, or everyone else gets hurt. If we can confirm that thing is sketchy, I stand a better shot of finding out more. And even if we do find out it’s something, I won’t be able to do anything mid-fight. Just please find out what you can.”

Sabine returned her attention to the Hex Girls. Prudence looked like she was nearly down, but Thelma wasn’t going just to let them clobber her. And she was putting up some strong defense. If they could get her away and distracted enough, separated from Prudence, the others could take her out. One less Hex Girl was always the best option.

Sabine strode forward. She attempted to latch onto Thelma’s consciousness and have her stop with her wards, but Sabine felt resistance. Was Thelma onto her? Was she defending her mind.

She needed someone to distract her, for just a moment. Long enough for Sabine to stop her.

Percy latched eyes with Thelma for a minute. “What are you warding against? Good fashion sense?”

Sabine glanced over at Percy with a grin. Thelma seemed to be as well, and her attention drifted from Sabine to Percy. Sabine took her chance and sent her consciousness forward. This would be different as she wasn't changing or altering a memory. She was essentially telling Thelma to do something.

Sabine's ego manifested in Thelma's mind. In it, Sabine looked strong. Powerful. In control. "Why don't you drop those wards now? In fact, I COMMAND you to!"

Sabine felt herself establish that bond and returned to her own being. "The defenses should be down. Get her away and take care of Prudence!"

April & Percy

For a brief second, April's chest had swelled up with hope - hope that they were actually turning things around, that they could do this, that it didn't matter that they were a ragtag group that had never properly trained together, it didn't matter that their coach was possibly dead, it didn't matter that she'd spent days in an asylum and wasn't on speaking terms with her own family, it didn't matter that her life was chaos and there were feelings inside of her that she couldn't understand. Today, everything was going right. Today, they were going to win, they were going to have a chance to take a shot at the crown, and they were going to fucking win. She smiled brightly. The ball was finally rolling uphill.

And as abruptly as her fortune had changed, it all came crashing apart. The first attack looked like mystical spider webs. April was terrified of spiders. With a bit of a yelp, she pulled water around her, the waves breaking against the creepy mess. She let out a sigh of relief. She never wanted to fight a spider person. Especially not a magical one. Talking about spider people during a game of FMK was one thing - but actually facing them? No way.

Before she could catch her breath, before she could react, the next attack came - scorching chains rushing after her. She instinctively threw her hands up in front of her face, looking to the side only to feel herself suddenly leave the ground for a moment, as Percy grabbed onto her and teleported them both away - just a brief blip, but it was enough. A speedster had been coming for her back, and if Percy hadn't acted, she would have taken the attack. But it wasn't enough for everything. The chains like heat seeking missiles found her, ensnaring her, burning their impressions into her skin. She couldn't move, she was paralyzed, only able to scream from the pain - from the flames engulfing her. At the same time, a shield crashed into her, the deep bruising from its impact only adding to the pain.

But her torment wasn't over yet. Thuy wasn't finished with her. As she was powerless to act, the injuries multiplied - sapping not her physical strength, but her focus, her willpower. It was like the world went dark in that moment, as her spirit was crushed, stolen by some parasitic force. Any fight she had remaining to her left her body, as the crushing weight of her sorrow returned. She'd failed. She'd let them all down. It was no wonder that Sabine hated her - when they lost this match, there would be no one else to blame. How could she even show her face at school again after this? Everyone would despise her. It was better off if she didn't come back. If she didn't fight this. If she just... stopped.

She was numb to the world as she distantly felt a hand grab her, as her environment shifted once again, freed from the chains by Percy's teleport. She stared at the ground, lost.

Percy stared for a moment, studying her. She seemed to be alright, for the most part. The burns would heal. And as for her mental state... He didn't see any signs of an issue. She was just catching her breath. There was nothing to be concerned about here. So he shifted his attention back to the rest of the field. Leah was attempting to pull aggression towards herself - he'd heard Dorian's tactics lectures enough to recognize the strategy. And Sabine had dealt with the defenses. Good. Everything was under control.

Vicky was analyzing all of the inputs at once, weighing her options. She was still unused to the mental input, now that she could compare with verbal and electronic almost at the same time, but it was growing on her. It was certainly better than speaking. Then again, most things would be better than speaking to Barty. At least she did not have to worry about having to check whether the terms of their deal were being respected, as she found out in the morning.

"I suppose since you weren't smitten by some ancient magic, the world is better off with you having it than whoever holds it now, even if it isn't actually your property. Very well, you'll get your gem. DO you have any more intel? A picture? Room number? Whom may I have to go through?" she asked in preparation, while she tapped on the phone:

From: Victoria v. D.
To: Vision
They have not consumed any *as far as we have seen*. Two of them were just surrounded by rock on all sides for long enough. I'll pass over that they declared nothing else and tell our guys to watch out for it. IF the Hex girls are trying to cheat, we'll have to catch them. Or this could be bogus. I'll try to find out more details. Hypothetically speaking - What are the rules on protesting the result of a match if a contestant has possible evidence of an illegal enhancement?

"Oh come on! You could have commanded her to surrender!" Vicky exclaimed as Sabine moved against Thelma. She checked whether the psion was still in a position where she could keep talking before replying. I have an errand to run at your hotel. Are they also staying there? Maybe I could snoop around, see what I can find.

Dorian Gray

The opening Dorian had made for his team wasn't enough to knock out the witch. Dammit. Wil was beginning to become more of a problem, Thelma was actually stepping into the fray now, and the speedster was trying to snag people one by one. Luckily for them they kept evading her just enough, but for how long? In a flash everything changed however, the enemy team ganged up on April and thanks to his boyfriends quick thinking (and April's reflexes) they were able to evade some of the damage. But she still got wrapped up in some sort of binding spell. He wanted to call out the next shots, to figure out the best plan of action, but he wasn't sure. Thelma had her hand placed on their prime target, that felt like a threat. A dare to even try to touch her. But going after Thelma alone was difficult, her wards felt almost impenetrable, and with Wil blocking shots they needed to go down as well.

Leah started them off strong, separating (or trying to) Thelma and Prudence. Unfortunately it didn't seem to panic out, perhaps they should focus on – Sabine called out as she infiltrated Thelma's mind. Yes! ”Luna, Hotshot, let's spread out focus. You two on Prudence, I'll get Thelma. Let's see which of the two matter most to Wil over there.” Dorian said with a wink towards Wil. They couldn't stop every attack, so either Pru goes down hard, or Thelma gets a walloping. Dorian twirled his sword once more, before twirling in the air with a vertical slash as he power coursed outwards and to Thelma. If this hit, it'd hit hard, more than what Pru had taken and it would luckily (and hopefully) drop all of Thelma's spells.

“Geeze. That many disqualifications? What'd they do to have that happen?” Frankie mused out loud. Igor having since crawled down off of him and scurried about the floor of the bleachers as he grabbed treats that had fallen out of others bags. “Nah, I didn't actually do any betting. I'd say I'm not a gambling man but…well my string of magic is all about chance and science to an extent. Even when I know the odds I still push them. What about you? Did you place a bet?” He wanted to add, hopefully not with those Macleod twins, but didn't dare say that out loud while they were around. His attention snapped back to the field as the Hex Girls went after some California girl. Rough.

He leaned forward in his seat, elbows pressed into his knees as he watched the enemy team dance around their attacks. Battle hardened indeed. But in the end, they snagged their target. Blondie was toast. “Oof, I'd hate to be her right now.”

”Does your uncle usually drag you around to watch children beat each other up? That's a bit weird.” Chase offered up as he grabbed a few more bites himself. Watching as the fight unfurled before him, and jumping up and cheering when one of them finally got got. ”Whooooo! Get'er!” He called out before sitting back down and looking Ben up and down for a moment. ”You ask me who I am and don't even offer up your own name? What kind of bullshit is that? You want an answer offer up your own first. I even shared my snacks with you.”

He watched as the kid sunk further into his seat. ”And why you slouching so much? You trying to cuddle or something? I mean im flattered really, but we barely know each other. At least buy me a soda first.” Chase teased.

Barty nodded towards his brother before turning his attention towards Vicky. ”First and foremost. Make sure when you go to acquire this gem that you're shielded in the same manner that you are now. Though given your…allergies, I doubt that you can afford to remove it from yourself anyways. As for the rest of your questions, well some of it is as if you weren't even listening. I'll give you the room number before we part from this, unless your plan was to leave immediately and seem exceptionally suspicious or worse get yourself in trouble with your school. I have no image of this item though my lovely brother could provide one with a simple illusion if you truly need to see what a ruby red gem looks like. As for who you have to go through? No one. As stated before the room is vacant, uninhabited, devoid of the presence of another, without an occupant, need I go on?”

Andy didn’t like fighting like this. She liked the ring, so it had parts she enjoyed. The screaming of the crowd. She knew there were people in that crowd that cheered for her, that was obvious just from her dad. She didn’t care for the banter.

Andy had rolled her eyes at the bury the gays comment. As if most, if not all of, her team wasn’t gay of one flavor or another. The only person on the team she didn’t know if was gay or not was Danni.

Andy heard her name from Dorian. She glanced at him as he called the shot. She nodded, punching at Pru again was easy enough. Didn’t even require her to move again. The Hex Girls had been pressuring their back line. Time to take out one of their people. She wasn’t supposed to kill, and wouldn’t have wanted to anyway.

She punched out, electricity crackling on the studs of her gloves almost reaching out for Prudance. She was still ready for retaliation. If this worked she’d be knocking her out, unless they had something up their sleeves. Someone was bound to take umbrage with Andy and eventually attack her. They’d be sorry.

Eva Moore

If Eva didn’t know her wife very well, and wasn’t holding her hand. She might have panicked when she disappeared. However, she didn’t. She understood that something about Andy, this girl who was part of the group of people Val considered family, being here that freaked her out. That made her feel ashamed. Eva didn’t know why. She squeezed Val’s hand.

”Harry,” Eva leaned around David. ”How did Andy get here?” Maybe Harry would know. If not Max might, but Eva didn’t know Max as well as she knew her brother-in-law. Magneto would definitely know since he was manipulating all the metal he could to spell out her name. Eva had no desire whatsoever to ask him though.

Matt Moss

Matt nodded and watched the little kid flit across the field and grab one of his teammates pulling her from danger. A good kid. Matt had stood at the front of his group and fought with anything he could to protect his team. This kid may not be able to do the same, but he still protected them in his own way. He didn’t expect less from a child of Novi.

”He sure is tiny.” He tried to joke, but he could sense that Novi was upset. ”I don’t know what all is going on for you, and won’t pry. Just know if you want to talk I’m here. I’m still your friend.” He smiled. ”My sister, my baby sister, died recently. Lab accident. Ben is mine to care for now and I don’t even know where to start with raising children. I never thought I would.” There was a lot of pain in Matt’s voice.

Connie shrugged at Frankie’s question. ”It is a rumor. I don’t know.” She frowned at the very idea of gambling. ”I definitely did not place any bets. I am not delusional. Gambling is a quick way to lose.” She also resisted glancing at the Mcleods sitting near her. She had her opinions of them. For the most part she tolerated them and in some situations enjoyed their presence. However, for the most part they were strange to her. Despite growing up around magicians of all types, the pair of them stood out. Even now they were doing something she didn’t entirely approve of. But Connie may judge them for their actions. She didn’t often tell people she disapproved of them.

Watching the action she winced. Maybe the Hex Girls wouldn’t survive this. Prudence was looking messed up. If the AA team kept trading in the way that they seemed to be it might come down to one or two but the AA team seemed to have some heavy hitters. Considering there was both someone using lightning and another with fire. She chewed her lip considering the groups. AA’s damage output might be enough. She didn’t like that.

”My name is Ben. And no, I am not trying to cuddle with you. You’re the one who sat here. I don’t want you touching me.” Ben rolled his eyes. This guy was kind of annoying. He winced as the girl who used water seemed to be a bit dazed. She had missed several of the attacks aimed at her but damn they had laid it on thick on her. The little guy that popcorn dude had said he wanted to get hurt had pulled her from the metaphorical fire. It was likely the popcorn dude wouldn’t get his wish.

”As for my uncle, no. Not usually. He is introducing me to the American school system.” Ben explained. ”Considering everything I knew about America a year ago, this tracks.” He gestured to the field of children fighting each other.

Max couldn't help but chuckle at Jen's antics. Sometimes she'd say the most out of pocket thing. He waved his hand, twisting the magic around the air as an image of Leah hulking out appeared behind the message Agatha had created. An aura surrounding her like a dragon ball z character as she silently shouted towards the heavens before smashing down atop Agatha's message and shattering it to nothing. Leaving only a flexing Leah in its wake with a milkshake in the other hand as if it was nothing to defeat them. The image faded before a sword came into view, slicing through the air as the word “Excelsior” appeared in its wake, a pile of chibi Hex Girls with swirling eyes and tongues out beneath it as if they'd been defeated. ”How's that?” He asked She-Hulk as he kept his eyes on the field.

The kids had really started to pull together, working as a team instead of individuals. Good. That was how their kind would survive, that was what being an outcast was. Forming a community amongst one another to help elevate each other instead of tearing themselves apart.

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

Harry's attention snapped towards Eva as she asked him a question. Which in turn raised one of his own in his mind. How did Andy get here? Last he'd seen of her was back on Genosha. Yet she was here, the same age roughly, and enrolled in a school. He didn't even know she knew how to read if he was honest. Harry leaned back to answer Eva before looking towards Max. ”That's…a very good question. Hey Max! How did Andy end up here?” If anyone would know it'd be him. Especially given he seemed unfazed by the notion of her competing right now.

Max turned from all the excitement to look at Harry, leaning back as well. ”What?”

”Andy, how is she here right now and in the contest?”

”Oh. Time Travel!”

As if that was somehow a satisfactory answer to it all. Harry rolled his eyes and motioned for Max to come over and explain more. So, he did. A chilling BAMF later, he appeared behind Harry and Val, leaning forward.

”Sorry things have been a bit busy with both Chaperoning and still needing to grade schoolwork on top of having to deal with and learn Quantum Physics for a very unrelated reason but yeah, long story short apparently Andy had jumped forward in time with Zari to be together in the year Zari was from but within Andy's universe? I don't its all a bit complicated and a moot point given that shortly after seeing them both Zari dipped out and made her way back to her own timeline? Multiverse? Thing? Leaving Andy here but it's ok i guess? Honestly its been a lot and only just happened or well I've only just found out so hadn't really had the chance to tell you guys the news.”

“One trick pony much?” Danni muttered as another round of shielding took a brunt of the hit he’d thrown at the goth chick. He was decidedly not a fan of the shield wielding menace. He screeched as Princess was absolutely hammered and he hit the ground running, putting himself squarely between April and the Hex girls. It’d been a close call with Beanie, but they all teamed up on just Princess and the effectiveness showed.

“And uh, what are we doin’ ‘bout the lady with hands for days back ‘ere?” Danni shouted, letting off a fire blast following Andy’s strike.

Afternoon - Wed. December 15th, 2038 - New Orleans, Louisiana

Prudence’s situation wasn’t ideal, Thelma admitted as her ward shrugged off the rocks with ease, but at least Thelma could turn it into an advantage. She regarded their teleporter with mild confusion but the distraction was enough as she felt something slither into her mind and take hold, her hands weaving of their own accord and the wards cracked, shattered, and fell as she released the spell. Thelma only had time to take half a step back before her mind went bank, pain and static the only thing searching across her eyes. She gritted her teeth against the pain but her body wasn’t responding.

She was vulnerable.

Wil swore, one shield flying up to protect Thelma against the brunt of the attack against her. Prudence collapsed in a flight of lighting and fire and vanished before her head hit the ground. “Stick to the plan. One of them is nearly broken and another isn’t far behind.” They commanded, stepping up to Sabine with a nasty grin and swinging a shield straight at her face.

Skyler hummed softly, his magic weaving around Thelma. They all began to bend and sway, shifting this way and that, making it almost impossible to tell who the real one was even standing still. Ava side stepped around Danni and threw a punch, the smile she’d worn the whole match gone and the glow more intense as she threw a punch at April instead.

Watching this round go down, even as that bitch slipped away from her fists, Tatiana came to the conclusion that she didn’t need to know the plan or the target priority or whatever other nonsense was happening. The only thing she needed to know was who the fuck had the audacity strip Thelma of her autonomy and thankfully, that blonde headed bimbo shouted that shit out loud. “Command these hands, cunt!” Tatiana screamed, hands moving like blurs.

Thuy took a deep breath, her skin pressing outwards in strange faces and shapes as Thelma’s barrier fell. Breathing techniques, breathing techniques, everything was fine. Thelma was still in control. Wil was backing her up. The team was pumped to fuck these bicthes up. Still, someone was dying this round for their audacity. She spoke, eyes glowing and voices echoing across the field, and a mote of light quickly grew into a boiling ball between her hands and the shadows it cast laughed and danced across the field.

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

Nicholas finished puffing his pipe, the smoke curling out steadily, and he exhaled as he watched Thelma's magic crumble like wet paper in the face of a weak mentalist. For all the effort she went through to be stoic… He shook his head. Children would always find ways to make themselves bigger than they were. This would be good for her.

He glanced back at Barty as his services were offered and he took a curl of smoke from his pipe and spun it between his fingers. The illusion took shape into a familiar red orb that fit comfortably in his palm. He offered it up for Vicky's inspection.

She then would receive another series of messages from Vision:

April

April’s spirits were temporarily crushed, the pain in her body almost an afterthought. Everyone pressed on with the fight - everyone except for Percy and Danni. Danni was like a brother to her, but Percy… she didn’t really know him. She thought it would have been Dorian to step in. Maybe Leah. Definitely not Sabine. She was under no illusion that protecting her during this fight would have done anything to endear her to her ex-girlfriend. She still didn’t even know what she had done wrong, what she had done to deserve it. April thought she’d been doing the right thing, ending things. She thought they could have been friends.

And then the punch was thrown.

She was too dazed to react, squeezing her eyes shut, only to once again feel the rush of air around her, and a firm hand on her own.

”I think they like you,” Percy observed dryly. Wasn’t that the popular explanation for why boys pulled on girls’ hair? It seemed apt in this situation. He’d intended to go aid Sabine, but clearly he was still needed here. April hadn’t thrown up her own defenses. Maybe she needed to catch her breath.

The moment they settled, fire was catching up. Thuy's fireball, building since Ava threw her punch, crashed into them and burned. Thuy cackled as she watched.

The pain was almost too much. She had been ready to give up. Ready to curl into a ball and admit defeat. Her mind was dazed, her body trembling, but the flames almost made her numb to it all. And a small fire burned within her, whatever scraps of resolve April had left coming back to her, enough to rage out in defiance against Thuy, against the Hex Girls. She shot out a blast of ice - not at Thuy, not at her attacker, but at the first person she could see that looked as vulnerable as April felt. At Thelma. Or at least, a Thelma. She didn’t know if the one she targeted was real or fake.

”Why does everyone have to be such a fucking bitch these days?” April muttered. ”You’re so hot, you could do anything else, but you choose to be an asshole.” She knew she was done for, but she didn’t care. Something in her had snapped. Maybe it had been broken already.

She gave Thuy and the Hex Girls the middle finger.

Dominika’s face fell, her heart aching for Matt as he shared what had happened. She couldn’t imagine that pain. She didn’t have any siblings - half-siblings, yes, but they weren’t family. Not in any way that counted. ”Fuck, Matt, I’m… I’m so sorry. I think I’m the one who should be asking you if you’re okay,” she paused, biting her lip. On one end of his struggle, she could relate at least. She didn’t know how to be a single parent either. ”I wish I could help you with the kid part - but I don’t know how I’m going to do this without Maria myself. But you’re smart. If anyone can figure it out, I know that it’s you.”

It was odd - she hadn’t actually overlapped with him on the Secret Warriors team, having been fired from SHIELD shortly before Matt was brought on board. And yet she found herself with a sense of ease that had eluded her in ages near him. Kindred spirits, perhaps. Both of their lives were absolute shit. It made for good company.

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

Gideon reappeared, hot dog in hand, as she surveyed the seating situation. The sudden food craving had come on strong. She hadn’t even registered that one of the Strange Academy students had used a spell on her, causing her to leave the area. She just found herself out of the stands, near concessions, and figured her attention had merely slipped. It happened. She got distracted all the time. “Awww, you two are cute,” she said, sitting down in a seat next to Chase. She didn’t know him. She didn’t care. “How long have you been together?”

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

Magneto had not ceased in his demonstrations - no, he continued to maintain his sign cheering his child on, almost brought to tears as he saw the way she effortlessly handled her opponents. For a moment, it brought him back to that day on Genosha, when they’d first discussed training together. He would ask her for a friendly spar when this was all done and settled. He was excited to see how much more she’d grown.

She-Hulk was more than thrilled with Max’s demonstration. “YESSSS!!! KICK THEIR BUTTS, LEAH!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!! IF YOU MISS YOUR NEXT SHOT, JUST CASH IN YOUR INSPIRATION!!!”

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

Val didn’t drop her invisibility, even as Max suddenly appeared behind them. No, she did not wish to be perceived at all. What willpower she had was being devoted towards allowing her wife to still touch her, to not throw up a shield and block out the world entirely. She did not need to confirm either that Harry had his powers attuned to her. Even David could not be blocked out, his telepathy something she could not defend against. But the rest, she could hide from, until she caught her breath. Until the shame and the shock subsided.

”You guys gotta check the group chat more, I put it in my latest selfie drop!” Casper whined. ”Wait, shit, never mind, my beeeeeeee I forgot to hit send on these! Okay so you’re all about to get 50 photos of my new fit, and Andy is also in them. Some of them. Maybe three. Fuck. I need to take more photos with Andy! Especially since she’s authentically retro! She’s literally vintage! Babes? How much longer do you think this’ll take? It’s not like football where it goes for five hours right?”

”It goes for ten years, actually. You’ll be gray before Danni’s out of this match.”

Casper shrieked.

“So she was actually from another universe? And time? Wild,” David shook his head. “If I could time travel - well, actually, I probably can - I’d do something way more interesting with it. Like… hmm. Actually I shouldn’t share. Erik might get upset. But I think you all can guess what I’d do.” Kill Charles Xavier, obviously.

”I’d go back and rescue Fred,” Sunshine chimed in wistfully, having relocated and snatched Max’s seat in his absence.

“I’d go back in time and kill Fred,” Marrow deadpanned.

”That’s so mean! Besides, he’s already dead, you can’t kill him again - everyone knows that.”

“I’d find a way.”

Val took a breath. She counted to five, holding it. And then she exhaled. And then slowly, gradually, she reappeared again. She’d find Andy after the match was over and apologize to her. She owed her that much, if not more.

The hits kept coming. It seemed no matter what they did, the Hex Girls had a counter for it. Granted, Prudence was out for the count, but look at how much it took to get there.

Something was not right. Their team was not the most strategic in this moment, but the Hex Girls seemed to just know what to do. And yes, she saw the strategy meeting when she saw Tatiana's memories, and their's was a good strategy, but this seemed more...attuned.

Something bugged her, but she couldn't do much about it now. She hoped Vicky would look into it more. "I saw Thuy at the hotel so I believe they are, but I am not sure. Whatever you can figure out. Something isn't right with them."

Sabine cast a glance at April who had been dealing with a lot in this fight. She had protected her before, but Sabine was moving around trying to get away from either of the Hex Girls who were coming after her and, apart from April, no one else seemed keen on ensuring she stuck around. Sabine wasn't a front fighter, but support was paramount to victory. The Hex Girls proved that.

And then she saw the punch. And a flare lit inside of her.

"Oh okay, fuck you! You're all a bunch of miserable fucks. Willing to bet you lot cheated, but whatever. Mess with her again and I'll see you after the fight!" She charged forward, but Tatiana, moving quickly, decked her hard. Sabine fell back. Wil had also hit her. April had it right.

Sabine gave the Hex Girls another middle finger, one especially to Thuy. "I don't know if it was real or a play, but I will never, even be fucking interested in you. I hope you die alone."

Sabine felt her knees buckle; she no longer had the energy to stand. The Hex Girls had beaten her. The only hope she had was that the others would make it hurt significantly. She looked over to Leah, "Fuck them up good for me." With that, Sabine fell to the ground unconscious.

Good, Prudence was out for the count. Now to focus on – suddenly if felt as though Dorian's vision had begun to blur. There were three Thelma's standing before him now. He'd seen that trick before, both while studying within the Sanctum and Kamar Taj, and earlier this fight. Skylar. Honestly he'd forgotten that wannabe was even in this fight, focused mainly on those who'd actually been impacting the fight. Danni wondered out loud about Tatiana, and how they planned to deal with her. The speedster zooming past them and back into their backfires again. Percy had been doing a good enough job playing keep away, and April had her shields, so Dorian wasn't worried. That is until April took a direct hit without an ounce of water coming up to defend her. Was she out of water? Had they pushed her too far? Fuck. They needed to win this fight fast, try and pull enough attention to give April some time to breath and catch herself.

”Funny Thuy, I was about to say the same thing. Jotunn, Smash a bitch! Luna, Hotshot follow after. I'll take care of the discount illusionist.” Dorian called out as he went to swing out with his sword again. His telekinetic energy building up along the blade before swinging outwards towards Skylar. By now he'd seen this jerk's moves enough to hopefully be able to predict them. He expected a dash of magic to slow his movements and maybe even redirect them if he could like he'd done with Andy. But just as he began his swing, he felt a tug inside of him. A link between himself and Percy. Dorian looked back towards his boyfriend and smiled as he felt his powers aiding him.

Percy made eye contact with Dorian. There was a strange feeling washing over him - as if he had made a jump, without any actual resulting movement. He raised an eyebrow. Was it Dorian…? He shook his head slightly, somewhat amused. Of course Dorian would already know how to call on Percy’s powers. He somehow outclassed him in their usage no matter what the scenario.

Dorian watched as Skylar had already begun to slow himself down, attempting to avoid his attack. ”Gotcha.” Dorian said with a smirk as his slash jumped forward in time and landed right where Skylar would be. Stunning him as the illusions on Thelma faded away so only the real one stood. ”Focus on the backfires? Cute, but you're ignoring the one person that can stall every one of your spells. 멍청한”

April wasn't doing great, and thankfully someone had her covered. The Hex Girls were really starting to lean on the squishier teammates, and Leah wasn't having that. Their magic wasn't easy to contain, with projections flickering in and out and waves of fire hitting them. They had more cohesion than Leah's team, but then again, their team supposedly didn't have people get disqualified for drugs, drop off, or fuck off to other planets. Dorian was doing a good job for strategy, giving a scattered team a plan. And, thinking of herself as a strategist, Leah agreed with what he was calling out. She'd have to talk to him after they fucking annihilated these bitches.

Then Sabine went down. Shit.

That was bad for two reasons. The first being that Sabine was their psychic, who could read their minds and turn them against each other and foil teamwork.

The second was that it pissed Leah off.

They needed to go on the offensive anyway.

"Luna! With me!"

Leah dropped low and pushed off the ground. There was a small dust cloud left in her way as, for a brief half-second, she was fucking flying. Her right hand curled into a fist and cracked hard across Thelma's nose. She was right in front of Thelma now, and she was going to take up as much of the whore's attention as was possible to give Andy a window to put her on her back.

And not in the fun way.

Andy wasn't certain how April was still standing, especially since Sabine collapsed. Damn. This was going to be a problem very quickly. Andy didn't want to do the math; she wasn't overly fond of math anyway. But it wasn't looking great if they didn't take down more of the Hex Girls faster than they could take them down. She needed to do something and fast. Danni called to hit Thelma, who was not looking totally put together at the moment, and Leah had called for her to follow. She did. Running after, and then past, interposing herself dangerously between Thelma and Thuy.

Andy did a spinning kick, first at Thelma and then at Thuy. Lightning arcing from her foot, speeding to both of them in turn. She hoped that splitting her focus would force the Hex Girls to split theirs, and maybe Thelma would go down because of it. She knew she had to be ready for a retaliatory attack. Just because no one had gone for her yet didn't mean they wouldn't, especially after this little stunt.

Eva Moore

Eva's head spun a little with the revelation that the girl, Andy, had time-traveled with someone from a different universe or something. She squeezed Val's hand gently. Reassuring her that she was not alone. She had more questions, but figured they didn't matter except to sate her curiosity.

Matt Moss

Matt froze. What happened to Maria? Had he missed something? No one had mentioned her being sick, hurt, or dead in any of the relatively quiet group chats they had. The slow drifting apart of the Secret Warriors was no surprise. He couldn't lie to himself about that. They had all drifted off to various corners of the world, or multiverse in some cases. Matt and Cass had, in the end, not worked out.

"Without?" He asked gently. "I know I said I wouldn't pry, so if you don't want to talk about it, I won't make you. Is there a way I could help?" Matt tracked Ben's movement from one seat to another and sighed a little, sad to see that Ben was rejecting the people who had at least seemed interested in talking to him.

Nope. He was done with this group of weird ass people. He mentally called for the nearest bugs he could find as he stood up and stepped over the seat in front of him to take one from that row instead of being squished next to someone he didn't know. That somehow, some other random person he didn't know was thinking he was dating. That was fucking weird.

A few flies circled the area, diving at the pair of them as he slumped into the new seat. They were only flies, but it made him feel a bit better. He didn't even bother responding to the new chick(?) who showed up. He just sat down in the new seat and crossed his arms, acting like he was trying to watch the match. At this point, he didn't even really know what was going on and had lost track of several of the people who had been on the field. Where was the blonde girl?

Danni Kingston

Location:Contest Stadium, Strange Academy

Danni watched hit after hit land on the Hex Girls and he cackled at their sudden misfortune. Their (admittedly spooky) leader's bluff was called and their discount mentalist vanished as she passed out. Dorian was such a smartie - that's why Danni let him call the shots. However, Danni wasn't super happy he didn't even register on Dee's list if things. Fighting be damned, Danni would always… wait, why was he pouting about it when he could be complaining instead?

“Woooow, just, what did you call it… a click and shoot, ta ya am I? Now look whatcha did! Beanie's out and ya didn't even blink ‘bout it.” Danni whined, taking to the air again to get a better angle on the fight. Still, their spooky leader was defenseless and taking her out would probably annoy the shield lover. Embers lit in his palms and wound tightly together as he pulled fire together. “Gotta take care of Princess and Beanie better when we take on t'e Young Avengers. They're gunna make the ‘ex Girlies look like the chumps t'ey are.” Leah hammered down, Andy took a sneaky chance to hit more than one, and Danni…

It felt like little bubbles in his stomach. It was familiar and scary all at the same time. He was having fun and the fire wanted in on it. Normally, Danni would put the brakes on it, scared someone would get really hurt, but the shields were doing work and the contest had the special magic teleport when someone was unconscious so… Danni tapped into it, grinning as his embers ignited, expanded larger than him, and collapsed again. Danni trembled with effort holding the heat back, but his blood was singing. It felt like he could really breathe for once, heat and fire and burning in his lungs with every breath. It was more than just the fire.

Danni wanted it all to burn.

“‘eads up! ‘Ere comes a ‘ot one!” Danni barely got out before the fire ball burst out of his hands and streaked across the field, blinding in its intensity. Danni wasn't prepared for the force, more focused on the heady feeling of wielding that much power, and the bubbly feeling suddenly stopped as instead he found himself hurtling into the stands.

Tumbling head over heels, Danni barely pumped the breaks in time and fire just missed the front row. He blinked, smiled sheepishly at a curly haired, grumpy looking boy he nearly crash landed into. “‘ey! Sorry ‘bout t'at! Got a little too into it!” Danni apologized, all smiles and excitement at firing off so much at once.

Victoria

Location: Grandstands
Skills/Equipment: None

"Oh I was listening. It's just that with you, if you say the sky is blue, I'll still check. This has the makings of there being no one right now, but when I show up, whoever put it in there or prevents you form getting there will be present." Victoria frowned at Barty. That or there'd be a guard of demons or some shit. They seemed to worry about magical protections, but she noted for herself not to ignore other means of protecting the thing either. In the same manner, she took a real good look at the projection Nicolas offered, committing every facet to memory in case there were decoys.

Meanwhile in her pocket, the other conversation came to a close for now:
From: Victoria v. D.
To: Vision
I don't. Sabine might, if a memories are admissible. I'll go investigate further and notify you if I find anything. I'll be on the phone if you need me before I return.

It was perhaps a bit cheeky to take this as an excuse to go to the hotel immediately, but she was taking it unless Vis tried to stop her... And then she could blame magically enforced contracts. Vis didn't need to know they weren't time limited.

She received the confirmation she needed from Sabine... And then the Blonde promptly went down. The absence of a mind on the other end of the link was a clear indication she wouldn't be getting back up for a while, and perhaps it was high time Tori moved out of range before she found out whether comatose people dreamed. While she would ordinarily love to find out what dreaming was like, here there was a nonzero chance of said dream involving steamy scenes with her bestie, and that was not something she needed to witness.

"No time like the present." Vicky said to Barty, "And to be honest, paying you off sounds more entertaining. If I was interested in this, I'd be down there."she nodded towards the arena, "What's the room number?" If you say nine and three quarters, you'll get hit.

@Morose@Achronum@Blizz@Forsythe@Kirah@PatientBean@Trainerblue192
Afternoon - Wed. December 15th, 2038 - New Orleans, Louisiana

Panic set in. Skyler’s illusion warded off the water girl’s attack, but Skyler’s magic wasn’t enough. He faltered as Dorian again wielded the same static against him and the duplicate Thelma’s vanished as Skyler clutched at his head, doubled over in pain. Thelma, slowly gaining movement and feeling back, knew what was coming. Her bluff, stupid and emotional, had been called. She’d thought their fear of her would direct them towards Thuy or Skyler or anyone else, but they’d rallied against them. Thelma’d thought (Wil’s shield caught the brunt of the rock head’s punch but Thelma was certain she heard a rib crack) she’d reduced them to equations like every other team, like every other insect who thought they (if she’d had the voice, the shock would have torn a scream from her) could break the her Hex girls, and predicted it perfectly but here she was, watching their pet clown conjure enough fire to level the stadium and hurl it at her. Thelma had just enough control for one last act of strength.

She stared directly at the boy who stunned her and, even as Wil’s shield burned like paper against the onslaught, held his gaze as she refused to scream even as her skin melted and burned and then darkness took her.

“FUCK! YOU! ALL!” Thuy screamed, the dark and whispering flames spiraling around her and hugging her tightly, absorbing Andy’s electrified punch harmlessly. Again, flames swirled in her hand as Thuy eyed up her next victim.

“Wow, you all are kinda mean.” Ava commented, both now a victim of Percy’s bullying and some of the rude things coming out of this team. Ava threw herself at April, fist raised again, and a shield following up behind her. The shield seemed like a solid shot, but petered out a moment before hitting.

“Calm down, Wil. Get your shit together.” They muttered to themselves, taking a deep breath even as they eyed Leah warily.

“Seriously! Thelm’s would be pissed if she found out you were acting like a bitch just ‘cause she hit the ground.” Tatiana snapped as she soared by, double tapping the lightning copy cat.

All of the eliminated competitors, from both the Hex Girls and Excelsior, were teleported the moment they slipped into unconsciousness. Rather than hitting the cold and unforgiving ground of the arena, the students would land on a bed - by no means a comfortable one, given its place in a medical ward, but a bed nonetheless. While the decor was the same as it had been in the medical examinations, they were not in the lobby or in the individual rooms patients were seen in - instead, it resembled more of the ward where multiple patients could expect to be treated post-surgery, allowing the staff to concentrate their duties in a single location.

Some of these duties, of course, were far easier than others.

The first student, Prudence Snyder was burnt - a mixture of both electrical and thermal wounds. One of the healers on staff had begun attuning to her the minute she appeared, the wounds slowly vanishing, her consciousness not yet returned.

The second patient, Sabine Bassard had some heavy bruising - her healing was done much more readily, the mage on duty rubbing a healing ointment over her body, its inherent properties restoring her just as fast as any mutant or inhuman could. She would wake up with some aches and pains, but nothing severe.

The third patient, Thelma Thule was fucking on fire.

Thelma won triage.

Every fucking healer immediately pivoted, as the fire extinguisher was deployed. As several fire extinguishers were deployed. One of them not even bearing a rating Sabine would have seen before - it was a class Q extinguisher, rated for magical fires. The foam spewing out of it seemed almost never ending, Thelma’s medical bed looking more like a gigantic cloud, the flames just barely doused.

“Fucking omega level mutants,” one of the doctors muttered under their breath.

Not that they were done with Thelma yet, no. They hadn’t even begun to address her burns.

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

“Room 0221. Search the bedside table. I doubt its previous holder understood it enough to ward it.” Nicky waved away the illusion, and the smoke, with a flick of his wrist.

She would receive a final message from Vision, for the moment.

Fire, screaming, lightning. Excelsior was a team that came together out of chaos, made by a bunch of teenagers with more issues than the DCU, and involved Danni fucking Kingston. The arena was going chaotic with all the fire and wizard bullshit being thrown around. Leah could hear the enemy team's composure breaking down every time Thuy wailed like a rabid banshee. Good. A big fight like this was akin to chess, in a sense. One or two pieces being taken away here or there meant nothing for either side until the board started to look sparse. They were down two, Excelsior was down one. But on top of that, they were starting to sweat. Leah's next target was their heaviest hitter still on the battlefield.

Leah slipped in behind Andy when the blonde bitch ate the sort of punch that knocked her out once, and made a blind guess through the dark fire swirling around her. She was a boxer, and one of the most base, foundational lessons was to never let an opponent be anywhere than in front of you. Never let the other guy have access to your side, because that was enough to effectively halve what someone could do.

She swung a right hook and felt something crunch. Her punch landed straight where the wanted to, right where Thuy's liver was.

A sufficient punch to a place like that was enough to knock some people clean out, cause vomiting or full body spasms. It was like the reset button for normal humans who weren't prepared for it, the nervous system just didn't know what to do immediately after. Thuy clearly wasn't a normal human, and Leah watched her stumble over in a daze. Knowing her, they wouldn't have long to capitalize on it.

"Don't fucking get up, bitch," She warned.
