So decided to apply for Black Ranger, though not opposed to another color if you find it fitting. I apologize to Micki and everyone else for my last two posts. My mental hasn't been the best but, no excuses. I hope I can get in and have fun rping with you all.
17 - 000000 - Black Ranger - Star Athlete/Activist - 6'2" - FC: Miles Brown
Throwing a punch is what I know and how I'll help, no matter what that means. People deserve to feel safe.
how would you describe their personality?
If there is one word that describes Scott, then that word would be calm. Scott oozes calm from his many years training and competing in the world of boxing, his uncle instilling the need to control his emotions. This also extends to his patience, letting him think rationally and logically in most situations. Being a boxer, these traits have helped him learn to read people but, that does not mean that Scott is free of faults. His emotions are a constant storm within, breaking through most notably when he witnesses bully behavior. This has led him to get into trouble many times as Scott is willing throw the first punch if that's what the situation calls for, and many bruised bullies could attest to this.
Being calm and collected is not Scott's only trait as he enjoys company, going out of his way to make friends with like-minded people. He thrives on these bonds, letting him open up and fill rooms with laughter. While not a goofball, he indulges in humor with friends in ways he wouldn't with strangers. He is kind to all people though, a trait learned from his uncle.
Lastly, Scott has an obsession with fashion that is shines through with how he dresses. Like the confidence he exudes when boxing, he is beyond confident in every outfit he creates, and there is no one on the planet that could make him feel otherwise.
what has their life in Angel Grove been like?
Scott's family has lived within Angel Grove for many generations, from his father to his father's father to his father's father's father, a family lineage that anyone could date back for generations. For those that knew his family, they would know one thing about them, they were all athletes in some way. Gerald Young, Scott's father, would end up as a famous former star quarterback for the Angel Grove T-Rex known for his career ending injury and his uncle Joseph would go on to be a retired World Class, Scott would end up following in his uncle's path. Though sports was not the only thing that his family was known for.
From an early age, Scott would learn of his family's activism, advocating for the less fortunate and taking time to speak up against those that seek to harm others. Scott was never interested in that aspect of his family, instead throwing himself fully into boxing, looking to be the next top star, but the ideas of activism would linger in the back of his mind. Despite his father's protests, he would be allowed to train day and night, as long as his grades stayed in the positive, where he and his uncle would bond.
He was wealthy kid that showed promise as an athlete, which in turn made his quite popular with other kids his age, including the ladies. Fortunately Angel Grove hosted a Boxing Club to which Scott would join upon entering high school, taking the top spot due to his years of extensive training. Life seemed perfect before it all came crashing down. One afternoon, Joseph and Scott would come upon a young boy being bullied by two teens, and interject to help. This interjection would lead to a fight would end in Joseph being injured, an attack from a weapon causing him to lose feeling in his legs. For the first time in a long time, Scott would become enraged and manage to beat both bullies, but not without his own injuries. 9-1-1 would be called to the scene, and Joseph would get the help he needed.
Only a day has passed since the incident and Scott could only sit in his mother's bakery, wondering if just throwing punches was enough for him, maybe he needed to do more. Bullying was an issue that needed to be addressed and Scott was not going to stop till others without his advantages were safe.
what can they do? what are they good at?
Scott is a damn good fighter, his body honed to be able to fight whenever he needs to. He's a technical boxer, who's faster than most people would expect and his stamina is quite high. His ability to read people is adequate and more useful in a fight than a social setting. Scott is not just a fighter at heart, but he's also learned how to bake from his mother, a skill he keeps hidden. He's quite good at extreme sports, skateboarding, cycling, and surfing being the three that he knows and enjoys. Lastly, Scott can tell you whatever you detail you need to know about football or basketball, having taken interest after watching his father's old football games.
A day late, many dollars short. The repairs on my basement may be finished, but my office still needs 48 hours for the concrete to set in correctly. I am going to try and review what sheets that have been presented to me today from a laptop I hate typing on.
This is the roster I am going with. I thank everyone who applied, as for Webb, well, adjust your header at your leisure.
I would now like to see the relationship (even if its just their perception of these characters they go to high school with) written as you find the time to do so. Feel free to field your expectations, favorite things from early Power Ranger seasons (and sentai in general), and other such things so I can plan around such preferences.

So, I brought this up to Kindred, but I think Charlie, Sera, and Han should be a trio. They’d be the Plastics of Angel Grove. But nicer, and all three of them are equals.

A little convenient, but the original MMPR Five were all buddies from the pilot.

I like that idea. Sera was probably able to read past the surface level of Charlie, but not too deeply with her guard up, but knew that she was more than what meets the eye.
@webboysurf I know Sera knows Danny since she's the cheer captain and he's on the football team and son of the coach. I could see his dad asking her to tutor him after learning of her grades mixed in with extracurriculars and that's how they actually became friends. What do you think?
Will be messaging folks about relations over the weekend - I’ve got a few ideas I’d like to chat through!

We can talk about dynamics between the three of them for sure, but personally I think branding them as a trio might be a tough one given the group dynamic of the rangers. I think I want to flesh things out a bit more, so feel free to send me a message and we can chat.

I had the same thought the other day, and that works on my end. Don't know if they have a very deep friendship, but I imagine they see each other in study hall or something frequently enough and catch up/cram then.
Which then loops into @Altered Tundra, Danny probably took karate lessons from Sensei Marco in the summers or off-seasons (and sporadically throughout the rest of the year). He's probably seen them in those classes, and that might be the most Matteo and Danny have interacted. I think Matteo's carefree nature is a little weird to Danny, so they might not have interacted much outside of karate lessons.
@Azure Bubbles - I... do not think Danny and Han get along. I think their personalities clash a bit, when it comes to Han's bravado and confidence. They don't have a lot in common, and Danny doesn't gravitate towards the popular cliques as much as he just hangs out with his teammates. I think they have the most room to grow in terms of a friendship over the course of the RP, as I think they come from entirely different worlds.

Yeah, they mostly see each other in study hall, Uncle Marco's class, and on the field but didn't really have the time to bond much outside of that, but with them both becoming Rangers it gives them the chance to deepen their friendship.

Damn being too chill is, despite what everyone says, not a vibe
Nah but I get what you mean. It's not everyone's cup of tea immediately. Takes a little getting used to and especially if there's a situation where it requires a serious impression, Matteo would be all "Hakuna matata everyone! It'll be fine" despite not know it will absolutely not be fine.
It's funny me and @King Kindred were also talking about how that Matteo being too much in the moment is sorta his fatal flaw. How he never really plans ahead or thinks too much past the current moment. Which, as the resident tech of the team, would be a bit worrisome especially if he is tinkering with some of their tech and messes up.

Yeah, I see what you mean. Han is an acquired taste for most.
Han doesn’t like sports, and yet I’ve made him a cheerleader.
I don't see a world where Matteo doesn't like Han. For one, he's so unique that Matteo would almost feel obligated to like. Matteo isn't exactly "normal" himself. He's a "too in the moment" wiz who never rushes for anything. Hakuna Matata if it were a person and then Han, who wears his flamboyant uniqueness on his sleeve, yeah Matteo would totally vibe with that. He might not understand him all the time but he respects Han's willingness to not abide by social norms and just be himself. Plus, Matteo is super close with Sera so they are bound to be crossing paths at some point.
He would totally help Han with any mechanical issues he might be having too. All part of helping out the community, after all!
