ASSET PORTRAIT & ID NAME: Liam Bellamy CODENAME: Sacrifice AGE: 27 HEIGHT: 6’1” BIRTHPLACE: Rydell City, East Sector VIBE: Tragic but Pretty, Broken Anti-Hero DETAIL: Shaggy dark-blonde hair, white-blue eyes, lean muscular frame, scarred chest and arms, faint stubble CONTRACT: Probationary Rehabilitation Contract under SDN Z-Team Initiative (commuted sentence for Class-B villain complicity) |STATUS: Active Liability POWER & LIABILITY
ABILITIES: Liam can amplify the powers of others through his own pain. Physical or emotional suffering triggers an augmentation field that strengthens the abilities of a chosen ally...sometimes exponentially. The deeper the pain, the stronger the boost. His regenerative factor allows him to survive prolonged agony, though not without consequence. The link is strongest through direct contact and intensifies with emotional connection.
LIABILITY: His ability requires constant pain stimulation. Excessive use causes psychogenic disassociation, hallucinations, or blackouts during missions. Emotional attachments increase the enhancement as well as the instability. Without supervision or dampeners, he may unconsciously boost unauthorized targets during trauma-based incidents. PR risk: The whole “using his pain to make the others more powerful” narrative is a difficult one to control. Especially given what he has already endured. We should keep the details of his abilities as discreet as possible, especially from the press.
ASSET CAPACITY STAT|VALUE|RATIONALE Combat|3|He picked up some tricks from his previous affiliations, but he's nothing special. Vigor|4|Enhanced endurance & rapid healing factor. This guy just won't stay down. Mobility|2|Capable under stress, favors defensive positioning over speed. He's just a guy though. Charisma|2|Intense presence but mostly just sad; avoids eye contact; quiet and unsettling to most. Intellect|2|Decent awareness; trauma limits emotional reasoning. MECHANICS & STATUS
DESIGNATED ROLE: Utility Support/ Field Amplifier SIGNATURE TACTIC/MANEUVER: Puts himself in dangerous positions for highest percentage chance of being wounded—using his pain to boost the power of his chosen ally. EMOTIONAL STABILITY RATING (1-5): 2- Fragile but functional under guidance. We do not believe him to be a malevolent man, but always remember that "hurt people hurt people". Years of torture, the constant pain, the loss of his sister, the shattering of his world. He's the definition of hurt.
HISTORY & DESCRIPTION PERSONALITY:He's kind of funny once you get past all the buzzkill. Seems like he could've been sweet under different circumstances. Seems so different from his sister. Lorelai was likeable, but it's my finding that Liam can still be an asset.
BIO:One half of the infamous Bellamy Twins, Liam was born alongside his twin sister Lorelai. Liam’s power manifested as an inverse to his sisters. Their powers did the exact same thing: amplify the abilities of others, but they accessed their powers in opposite ways. His comes from pain where hers derives from pleasure. A powerful villain named Dominus found them, took them in (more like enslaved them if you believe the stories), exploited their duality of abilities, and shaped them into living conduits for his strength. In truth, they are the reason Dominus and his Dominion criminal organization rose to such heights. Liam endured years of torture under the illusion of devotion; Lorelai, broken differently (this report will not go into details on how they manipulated her powers...for obvious reasons), eventually betrayed their captor on behalf of SDN to save him. The plan cost her life and left Liam with no one.
Following the imprisonment of Dominus, Liam was detained by the SDN for complicity in multiple meta-terrorist operations. Instead of life imprisonment, he accepted a Z-Team probationary contract, serving under constant monitoring as an “Active Liability.” His sister had real potential, it was a shame that she died in the operation. Whereas Liam, well, it's up in there air whether or not he'll be able to rise to the occasion. After my interviews with him, it is my recommendation that we should give him a try, and my professional opinion that being part of a team...even a team of misfits and broken toys like Z-Team...might be his only hope of recovery. CRIMES:Accessory to mass-casualty meta incidents under a Class-A villain organization, though his level of involvement and willingness has been debated. Recorded counts include forced augmentation, unauthorized meta enhancement, and collateral destruction exceeding 1,200 civilian casualties. Sentence commuted under SDN Rehabilitation Act §47.3b (“Utilization of High-Risk Meta Assets”).
ASSET PORTRAIT & ID NAME: Azaela CODENAME: Moxie (SDN PR Rebrand) FORMER NAME: Succu-Bitch (Criminal Dossier; self-adopted) AGE: 28 (Apparent) HEIGHT: 5'8" BIRTHPLACE: Unregistered Planar Gate, Cascadia Slums VIBE: The Glamorous Liability with Money Issues DETAIL: Exhibits classic low-level demonic traits: black ram horns, deep gray skin with cool lavender undertones, and a persistent sweet and spiced scent (espresso, vanilla, rum). She needs constant attention to her appearance. Distinctly non-human. CONTRACT: Indebted, Compelled (Phoenix Program - High Debt Acquired) |STATUS: Active Liability POWER & LIABILITY
ABILITIES: Emotional Resonance. Asset Moxie is a low-level demonic entity that specializes in influence and converting psychic energy. She can drain focused emotional energy through touch to restore her stamina, allowing her to achieve bursts of supernatural mobility and focus. Her main ability is to infiltrate and control key personnel.
Emotional Vampirism (Recovery): Drains focused emotional energy through touch to recharge her system. Intimate touch significantly increases recovery speed.
Haste Step Mobility (Movement): A burst of supernatural speed, agility, and grace used for quick evasion, traversing complex terrain, and repositioning a fight.
Ensnaring Influence (Primary Tactic): Projects a wave of intense emotional suggestion (confusion, mild terror, momentary infatuation, etc) toward a single target.
Compelled Submission (High-Risk): A strong, focused blast of influence to command a single, complex action or compliance from a target. Highly taxing and visible.
Pandemonium Burst (Ultimate): A massive, chaotic psychic release designed to overwhelm every target's senses (sound, sight, touch, emotion) in a large radius, paralyzing or collapsing non-supernatural enemies. Can be focused on one supernatural enemy instead.
LIABILITY: The Public Relations Risk. The asset is physically fragile and very prone to exhaustion from overuse. Her influence is forceful; successful compelled submission leaves a noticeable, temporary "Mark of Influence" (a small glowing tattoo) on the target for 72 hours, making public exposure almost certain and increasing the risk of brand damage. Trying to feed on "pure" emotions like selfless rage and devotion leads to significant personal fatigue and psychic harm.
ASSET CAPACITY STAT|VALUE|RATIONALE Combat|1|Avoids all direct conflict. Her reliance is on speed and influence, making her useless in sustained firefights. Vigor|2|Physically fragile; endurance comes primarily from emotional draining. Mobility|4|Superior evasion, escape skills, and Haste Step use. Able to enter and exit high-security zones quickly. Charisma|4|A skilled negotiator, seductress, and capable blackmailer. Her greatest asset lies in gathering information and obtaining valuable data. Intellect|2|Street-smart and intuitive con artist, but lacks the academic or technical skills needed for deep analysis. MECHANICS & STATUS
SIGNATURE TACTIC/MANEUVER: She identifies a target's deep, unrecognized psychological need or weakness. It connects compliance to a promise of validation or relief. This approach is very effective.
EMOTIONAL STABILITY RATING (1-5): 3 - Functional. Usually dismissive and stable, but she quickly becomes frustrated when handling 'low-priority' tasks. Her focus on materialism helps keep her grounded.
HISTORY & DESCRIPTION PERSONALITY:The asset is motivated by a deep fear of poverty. Her desire for luxury serves as a direct defense mechanism. She justifies her exploitative behavior as a twisted form of wealth distribution. She claims that the people she takes from are just "resources." However, there is proof of genuine, unrecognized emotional connections that reveal her greatest vulnerability. She is very protective of this emotional territory. BIO:Azaela is an undocumented planar entity who settled in the Cascadia Slums after transit. She quickly became a skilled con artist, increasing her criminal activities under the name 'Succu-Bitch.' She chose this name after an encounter with a failed local hero. Azaela focused on creating chaos and financial destruction through mass psychic instability. After being arrested during a televised confrontation, the significant legal and physical damages turned into an inescapable Debt Contract under the Phoenix Program. She stays with SDN because the immediate financial disaster from being let go seems worse than imprisonment to her. CRIMES:Psychic instigation of civil unrest, massive indirect property destruction, aggravated assault, extortion, grand larceny, and persistent violation of peace bonds. The sentence is changed to mandatory service under a standard debt repayment contract.
ASSET PORTRAIT & ID NAME: Sylas Ross CODENAME: Reforge AGE: 30 HEIGHT: 6ft BIRTHPLACE: Los Angeles, CA VIBE: Cynical Optimist… that’s shit at recycling DETAIL: Faint crimson wisps of energy exude from him when making physical contact CONTRACT:DebtorSTATUS: Active Liability POWER & LIABILITY
ABILITIES: Soul Tranferrence. Reforge can imprint his slivers of his soul (or what he claims them to be) onto targets he makes physical contact with. His ability has two distinct functions:
-The Inanimate: When Reforge touches inanimate materials of any form, his wisps can create autonomous golems or elemental beings that share his overall intent and will. These beings are held together by the crimson wisps imbued into them and can be destroyed by conventional means, given the substance used to create them. Despite these entities being nonverbal, Reforge seamlessly communicates with each one, though he often has to initiate verbal communication with his creations to acclimate them to the current situation.
-The Animate: Humans and animals targeted by Reforge’s ability are subjected to his will and intent. For humans, waves of his thoughts, his emotions, and even suggestiveness are implanted into them. Nonhuman animals experience a similar effect, but with more potency, establishing a temporary mental link that facilitates communication and pacification.
LIABILITY: Reforge’s ability on the inanimate objects accrue property damages 90 percent of the time due to his abilities stripping material from private and public property infrastructure. Due to the intentionality of his abilities, every creation made is scrutinized and evaluated by SDN legal representatives. Creations are deemed liabilities in the field until Reforge confirms their cooperation. Reforge experiences strain from creating constructs based on the amount of inanimate mass he is attempting to control. He can manage double his mass at a time without adverse side effects, but exceeding this limit causes fatigue, fainting, and/or loss of control over a creation.
ASSET CAPACITY STAT|VALUE|RATIONALE Combat|3|Skilled at mid-ranged combat. Creative use of terrain and constructs for offensive and defensive tactics Vigor|2|Endurance is limited by the strain from his abilities. Mobility|2|Average physical agility due to physical conditioning. Relies on creations for heavy lifting and traversal. Charisma|3|Street smart negotiator and adaptable under pressure, but can occasionally be insubordinate with authority figures if he believes he’s in the right. Intellect|3|Tactical improviser, excelling at repurposing the environment stategically while being capable of rapid threat assessment. Skilled in identifying structural weaknesses. MECHANICS & STATUS
DESIGNATED ROLE: Team Coordinator and Emergency Response Asset SIGNATURE TACTIC/MANEUVER: Attempts to talk his way out of a situation while analyzing what might be the best thing to break if things go south. EMOTIONAL STABILITY RATING (1-5): 5- Despite his jaded outlook on his career as a hero, Reforge has retained an iron will to achieve mission success. When forced into a corner, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to overcome adversity.
HISTORY & DESCRIPTION PERSONALITY:On first look, Reforge seems like the by-the-book type until you remember that he’s on Z Team. He’s driven to the task at hand, but it’s apparent that even he has his limits, resorting to slight vices to keep himself from collapsing like one of his creations when not in use. The man he is on task is very different from the man he is when on his free time. During missions, Reforge is a man people can lean on and someone who can be trusted with the whole of one’s being. Off duty, Reforge is a shell of the man he once was, as his shoulders drop and he trudges back to his apartment. Despite where he is, it is apparent that he is jaded from his time working with the SDN, causing him to come off as rebellious toward directives he disagrees with. His humor his dry, and he’s willing to participate in banter between himself and coworkers, but he never takes things too far and will often have a touch-and-go approach to such things. He takes smoke breaks alone, but will tag along with anyone else with a quickness. He fronts like he’s in a realm of his own or a solitarian, but he yearns for connection, something that can be seen in how he interacts with his creations or when he mistakenly brushes up against someone during a vulnerable moment. A part of him still strives to move up the ranks, while another focuses on the seemingly endless digits that make up his debt. BIO:Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Sylas Ross never thought he’d acquire superhuman abilities in his adolescence. As sudden as it was, his abilities conjured a spark of direction for him that made him want to make a difference in the world. No one in his family had powers like he did, so to him, it was almost like winning the lottery. With his abilities showcasing versatility and utility in a wide range of operations, Sylas was easily recruited by the SDN. He started with Team I in Chicago, but eventually made his way up to the likes of Team E. He even made sure to wear a pure white circular emblem on his chest to represent his total commitment to the organization. Bright-eyed and full of potential, he expected to reach one of the top three teams within SDN, but, unfortunately, he was due for the hardest fall he’d ever experienced. Multiple companies and agencies had filed a class action lawsuit against the SDN concerning unnecessary and intentional collateral damage committed by heroes, and Sylar was one of the several heroes caught in the crosshairs of the evidence uncovered. SDN’s legal division was unable to beat the case, which resulted in Sylas being knocked down from team to team until he eventually found himself designated for Team Z. The pure white emblem soon became a light, melancholy yellow as he watched what he thought was his destiny slip from his grasp. There were times he resented the SDN for being too incompetent to fight for him as he did for them. There were times when he resented the public for being ungrateful to his many deeds. However, what he truly resented were his abilities that once propped him up. They were now a stain on his standing as a member of the SDN. CRIMES:Mass “intentional” public and private property damage. Suspected accessory to various crimes committed by past intimate partners, though insufficient evidence exists to place charges or issue a warrant for arrest.
ASSET PORTRAIT & ID NAME: Murphy "Murph” Graves CODENAME: Tripwire AGE: 32 HEIGHT: 5'10" BIRTHPLACE: Cascadia VIBE: Mouthy Punk, Stick it to the Man. DETAIL: Murphy looks like he walked out of a mosh pit in 2005 and never went home. He sports a messy, black and purple undercut with a shaved side showing off many tattoos. He is pretty much always wearing studded leather, ripped band tees, and chains. He’s rarely seen without a cigarette hanging from his lip or a smirk that says he knows something you don’t. He carries himself with a casual, leaning slouch—like he’s waiting for a bus, even in the middle of a firefight. CONTRACT: Citizen Protection Program and Monitored LIability |STATUS: Active Liability POWER & LIABILITY
ABILITIES:RIOT - Control over others’ luck. Able to inflict bad luck upon others he can see, like a walking bad luck charm. Effects range from minor, (eg. tripping over a shoelace, or a lit cigarette lands in a pocket, catching fire.) to major (collapsing a whole building on an individual because of an errant powerful attack). He survives, not by taking hits but making sure they never hit in the first place. Though he possesses no other known abilities, his proficiency in RIOT makes him quite the difficult opponent.
LIABILITY: His general anarchic attitude paired with the varying effects of his ability tend to leave chaos in his wake. From harmless office pranks to “unintentional” assaults of supervising personnel, a watchful eye is needed to remain in control. In the field, he is known to disregard orders and improvise, often causing property damages.
ASSET CAPACITY STAT|VALUE|RATIONALE Combat|2|Knows his way around a scrap or bar fight but without any real enhancing powers, not much of a threat with his fists. Vigor|3|Often got caught up in his own bad luck events plus developed durability from learning how to take a hit. Mobility|4|Frequent practitioner of parkour and very skilled at avoiding the bad luck effects around him. His strongest trait due to his will to live. Charisma|1|Walking dumpster fire. Very mouthy and not many like it. Especially when directed towards any authority. Intellect|3|Clever in the use of his ability. Is able to inflict bad luck in ways that are creative, using the least of his power for the maximum effect. MECHANICS & STATUS
DESIGNATED ROLE: The Chaos Engine SIGNATURE TACTIC/MANEUVER: Often humiliates his adversaries, finding it to be extremely effective in disorienting or enraging. When the moment requires force or a large effect, he often resorts to proprty damage (inflicted by the adversaries, of course). "Nothing like dropping a parking garage on the guy that can punch through concrete." EMOTIONAL STABILITY RATING (1-5): 4 - Very much possesses a "Devil May Care” attitude. Is not phased by much and remains carefree even in the middle of fights or when mouthing off.
HISTORY & DESCRIPTION PERSONALITY:Mouthy and anarchic. He dislikes authority and makes sure they know it. He's going to say the first thing that comes to mind whether it's a dirty joke or a string of 18 filthy swear words and insults. Most of the time however, it's just harmless banter, almost how he shows affection. The carefree attitude acts as a bit of an insulator to the atrocities of the world, better to not care than care too much. BIO:Murphy Graves never wanted to rule the world; he just wanted to rig it. For years, he was a small-time hustler in the city's underbelly, using his subtle "bad luck" abilities to humiliate others, tilt underground fights, and generally profit from other people's worst days. He was the guy you hired to make sure the security camera "glitched" or the guard "accidentally" dropped his keys. It was easy money, low risk, and zero responsibility. That changed the night he got greedy. Hired to sabotage a weapons demo for a notoriously volatile crime lord, Murphy did his job too well. The prototype didn’t just fail; it spectacularly backfired, humiliating the boss in front of his international buyers. With a seven-figure bounty on his head and hitmen closing in, Murphy realized his luck had finally run out. Out of options, he crawled to the SDN. He traded his freedom for protection, signing on as a grunt for the Z-Team. Now, he’s the squad's designated chaotic element—the guy they send in to annoy the heroes, trip up the guards, and cause enough confusion for the heavy hitters to do the real work. He talks a big game and disrespects authority at every turn, but deep down, he knows the SDN is the only thing keeping him from a pair of concrete shoes. CRIMES:He is a career criminal with a rap sheet dating back to his mid-teens. His history shows a progression from petty vandalism to high-stakes industrial sabotage. He rarely engages in direct violent confrontation; his record is defined by "accidents," equipment failures, and improbable getaways.
NAME: Quinn McCarthy CODENAME: "Quartermaster"/"Q" or "Nine" AGE: 25 HEIGHT: 5'8"/8'5" BIRTHPLACE: Cascadia, Upper West Side (Or whichever is the 'rich neighborhood') VIBE: Nerd with a serious case of delusion of grandeur, believe himself to be a sort of Knight of the Round Table/Untamed Rage Monster DETAIL: A lanky, unassuming 'welllll ackually' male / Red-skinned, muscled beyond what is normally possible, gnashing teeth...
CONTRACT: Enlisted for his technical/chemical expertise and genius-level intellect |STATUS: Active Liability
POWER & LIABILITY
ABILITIES: As Quartermaster, Quinn possesses next to no physical combat capabilities. What he lacks, he makes up with his intellectual prowess. Able to analyze a situation and craft a near bullet-proof plan. He is also very adept with working with chemicals, for obvious reasons... As Nine, however, things are completely opposite. He becomes what can only be described as a near mindless monster of destruction. He is nearly uncontrollable, causing damage regardless of friend or foe.
LIABILITY: As Quartermaster, Quinn suffers from delusion of grandeur. He believes, wholeheartedly, that he is a descendant, of the mythical King Arthur, and is thus a member of the Knights of the Round Table. He holds himself in such a regard that he will come off as looking down upon others. While King Arthur was noble and behaved as such, Quinn is not and he will use his intellect to achieve his goals, however nefarious they may be. As Nine, he is destruction made 'flesh'. Hard to contain, even harder to control. Currently, the only effective method of containment is either through prevention or have Moxie /Redacted/
ASSET CAPACITY
STAT|VALUE|RATIONALE
Combat|1 As Quartermaster / 4 as Nine|Quinn simple cannot fight. To the point that he might hurt himself trying to throw a punch. As Nine, this is about all it can do. Destroy.
Vigor|2 as Quartermaster / 4 as Nine |Quinn is not exactly feeble. He isn't exactly in good shape either. He just... is. As Nine, it's muscles have muscles on top of their muscles. Tougher than nails, nigh impervious to most types of damage.
Mobility|3 as Quartermaster / 3 as Nine|Quinn isn't exactly fast, or stealthy. He just knows how to get out of dodge. Years of avoiding bullies. For Nine, using it's immeasurable muscular strength, it is able to move it's massive frame at a surprising speed. Next to no stealth to speak of, however.
Charisma|3 as Quartermaster / ? as Nine|Quinn has had to convince his bullies to stop picking on him, and to not take all of his lunch money. But, he just isn't the guy to cold-approach someone in a bar and hold a conversation. As for Nine. What is charisma to a rage monster?
Intellect|4 as Quartermaster / 1 as Nine|This is where Quinn shine. There is hardly a program he can't solve, a chemical equation he cannot figure out, a code he can't crack. Nine doesn't think. It just smashes.
MECHANICS & STATUS
DESIGNATED ROLE: As Quartermaster, team strategist, chemist and 'brains'. As Nine, we don't really know...
SIGNATURE TACTIC/MANEUVER: Quinn will look to always stay behind, in mission control, wherever that might be. Be it a mobile command center, a cafe nearby with his laptop, or someplace similar. You do not want him in the frontlines anyways. Nine does not recognize where it physically is. It does not matter to it. It simply wants to smash and destroy.
EMOTIONAL STABILITY RATING (1-5): As Quinn, a 5 if he is properly medicated. A 1 if he isn't. As Nine, 1. Zero if possible.
HISTORY & DESCRIPTION
PERSONALITY: Due to his delusion of grandeur, Quinn thinks himself above others. He sees himself as a Knight of the Round Table and that his actions are noble. Of course, they may be noble from time to time. But, Quinn is not above using his intellect to accomplish nefarious goals. Nine doesn't have a personality per se. It just smashes.
BIO: Quinn McCarthy. Child genius. Born with every advantage possible. His life was set. He was better than all of his peers, both in materialistic status and academic achievements. The McCarthys were wealthy, even by Cascadia standards. His father, Quinlan McCarthy, was the CEO of a bio-pharmaceutical company, and his family's lifestyle reflected accordingly. His mother, Laura McCarthy, née McIntyre, was the chief actuary for a multinational Investment Firm. After marrying to Quinlan, Laura quit her career and focused her time in homemaking, spending extra time stimulating Quinn's mind when Quinn was not in school. On the surface, things were perfect. A rich family, stay-a-home mom, straight-A son...
Of course, it was not. Quinn, as he entered his teenage rebellion years, felt like a caged bird. He wanted to fly. But not with his peers. They were below him. Intellectually they bored him. Physically they picked on him. By age 16, Quinn was finishing his Ph.D in chemical engineering, with a focus in medical research. If anyone cared to pick up the signs, his doctorate dissertation was on behavioral modification and control through chemicals in humans. Not exactly ethical, and the research was impeccable but who was going to speak up against the son of the biggest grantor of the whole science department? Quinn got into the Ph.D program with his smarts, and passed with his smarts. But the whispers never stopped.
As a 'gift' for earning his Ph.D, Quinlan built his son a state-of-the-art laboratory in the west wing of their family compound. Quinn, as a result, spent most of his days in there, running whatever experiment piqued his interest at that time. Quinn documented the results for a while, even going as far as bringing them up to his father, thinking that he can bring it to his company and make use of it. Quinlan brushed it all off, not seeing marketable value in his son's research. Discouraged, and perhaps enraged, Quinn stopped documenting his research and results. Instead, his experiments took a turn. One day, he found fascination in nano-technology. He brought a proposal to his father, on his twentieth birthday. Quinn ask for a robotics lab, dedicated to nano-machines, to be added to his existing laboratory. Quninlan, again, did not care. Laura signed the check and in a few short months, the new addition was built. At first, Quinn researched into using nano-machines to deliver medicine to hyper-specific locations of need. This again showed promise. Quinn, with his flames reignited, brought it up to his father once again. Quinlan was intrigued, but did not act on this. As this was too effective and did not provide a long-term profitable forecast. Quinn, dejected, shut himself in his lab for weeks...
Then. Quinn had a idea. What if. Just what if. He used himself to show how effective and revolutionary his research can be? He first began researching chemical compounds, specifically ones that can expand human brain effectiveness. He discovered that a major barrier to unlocking the brain's true potential lied in emotional barriers. Be it fear, anxiety, or a bevy of other emotions. If one can eliminate that barrier, the brain can be infinitely unlocked. Coupled with his advancements in nano-machines, Quinn figured he can deliver specific chemical mixtures to temporarily block certain neuron receptors in his brain, thus allowing him to open that part of his brain, so long as the chemical compound is effective. At first, Quinn decided to mess with 'joy' or the feeling of happiness. He wanted to see what uninhibited joy felt like...
Then came sadness. Fear. Anger...
Quinn tried to block each emotion one by one. He found varying levels of success, as some emotions like fear was hardwired into the body and is much harder to turn off. What he did not notice is that he began feeling other emotions in an elevated capacity, first while he was messing with his chemical compounds, then even when he wasn't...
The nano-machines also started becoming an unnoticed problem. Originally, they were designed to be metabolized by the body, filtered back out, and discarded along with other toxic and waste products. But, as he continued to experiment on himself, the nano-machines adapted. He made them too smart, too effective. They stayed behind. The body stopped being able to filter them out. At first, Quinn would run a fever as his body employed the only other natural method it knows to get rid of what it identified as something that should not be there. The nano-machines adapted to that too. It began assimilating itself with other harmless cells in the body, even going as far as adapting a self-destruct mechanism as to not have the body identify it as a mutating cell and destroy it. The body learned to live with the nano-machines, starting to utilize it to repair whatever damage Quinn's internals took on. Quinn felt healthier than ever. Not stronger physically, as that still required him to do something he simply finds no value in. But healthier in the sense that he simply did not get sick.
Then, as his body began rejecting the usual chemical compounds, he grew increasing frustrated. At first, he was able to contain such emotions, not lashing out. As the days grew on, and the frustration multiplied, Quinn was reaching his limit...
What happened next began as a blur for Quinn, then he could not remember. All he knows is that when he was regaining his consciousness, he faintly heard his father talking to some other person about containing something and paying something. Laura, his mother, was sobbing softly...
These events became more and more frequent. Quinn would see news reports, Youtube videos and social media posts about some kind of rage monster, rampaging through downtown Cascadia and the heroes of SDN coming to save the day. That was interesting, as Quinn was noticing more and more people from SDN showing up at his house, chatting with his parents...
CRIMES:Allegedly causing massive property damage. Terroristic acts, causing fear and panic among citizens of Cascadia. Causing human casualty, number undisclosed. Never officially charged as he has always been bailed out and acquitted of charges prior to being summoned to court. Legal guardians agreed to contract of service to SDN as employment, read 'Surveillance Program Tau-Five' for employment details.
Surveillance Program Tau-Five " Samsara " /While most details are redacted or restricted, it is known that Quinn "Quartermaster" McCarthy is to be employed by SDN, as an intelligence asset, specializing in areas of mission control and other various technologically or chemically complex operations. Subject is to be provided with fully functioning laboratory to continue formulation of his own medication, in order to control breach incidents of Subject B, colloquially known as 'Nine'. Origins of name of Subject B can only be identified as ' It was my ninth concoction... NAME: Roxanne Rose CODENAME: Starburst AGE: 26 HEIGHT: 5’6” BIRTHPLACE: Cascadia VIBE: Optimistic damage hazard DETAIL: Porcelain-rose skin, long dark-berry hair, bright white irises, subtle dark circles
CONTRACT: SDN Indebted Contractor – Z-Team Assignment (Commuted sentence for villain complicity) STATUS: Active Liability
POWER & LIABILITY
ABILITIES:Asset Starburst is a human kinetic conduit specializing in high-impact offensive output. She generates and stores momentum-based white energy, releasing it as bursts, strikes, and breaching attacks. Her destructive capability is considerable, but her stamina imposes strict operational limits.
Star Shot (Ranged)
A release of white kinetic energy fired as a single bolt. Produces a sharp flash on impact and delivers notable concussive force.
Momentum Strike (Close Quarters)
Uses stored kinetic charge to amplify punches, kicks, or throws. Impacts release a sharp pulse of compressed force capable of breaching reinforced materials.
Burst Step (Mobility)
A sudden forward launch using kinetic charge. Functions as high-speed propulsion, enabling the asset to: • close distance in a single lunge • ram targets • dodge incoming attacks
Overuse results in tremors, vertigo, and temporary limb weakness that reduce combat effectiveness.
Acceleration Overflow (High-Risk State)
Occurs when kinetic charge accumulates faster than her body can regulate due to instability. Symptoms include: • involuntary shaking • sensory distortion and light sensitivity • unstable micro-detonations around her hands • loss of coordination and slowed reaction time If not forced to discharge, the state may escalate to collapse.
ULTIMATE: BURST CANNON
A full-system discharge of all accumulated kinetic energy. Projects a massive white beam in a straight line, capable of breaching a fortified barrier or disabling multiple vehicles in its path. Difficult to aim precisely under stress and strictly reserved for last-resort scenarios.
Side Effects:
Overload syndrome: severe tremors, collapse, sensory overload, temporary blindness, extreme fatigue, and potential unconsciousness after heavy use.
Asset is considered non-operational after use and requires immediate containment and medical review.
LIABILITY: Starburst exhibits extreme physical fragility. Even moderate ability use results in rapid burnout, tremors, and sudden physical weakness. Emotional volatility frequently accompanies these episodes, though the asset attributes her symptoms to being “just tired” or “forgetting to eat.”
Despite visible warning signs, the asset routinely pushes herself far beyond safe operational thresholds. No directive requires such intensity. Attempts by staff to assess her condition are met with deflection.
While her enthusiasm is superficially beneficial, it has been noted that her instabilities severely restrict long-term productivity metrics and increase liability during extended combat engagements.
ASSET CAPACITY
STAT|VALUE|RATIONALE
Combat|4|She is very dangerous when it comes to close combat and effective in short-term engagements.
Vigor|1|Low endurance and terrible pain tolerance. Her stamina depletes, as well as her ability to take hits faster than our other assets.
Mobility|3|Her burst step ability allows her to propel herself rapidly and perform evasive maneuvers.
Charisma|3|Sweet, affectionate, and disarmingly friendly. Easy to like, harder to predict. Her mood swings have been known to make her less reliable at times.
Intellect|2|Quick instincts, witty, poor planning. Acts before thinking and struggles with strategy, but adapts fast in the moment.
MECHANICS & STATUS
DESIGNATED ROLE: Frontline Damage/Glass Cannon
SIGNATURE TACTIC/MANEUVER: Charges in first, hits hard before anyone can stop her…. Then she usually overdoes it in an effort to prove her usefulness..
EMOTIONAL STABILITY RATING (1-5): 2 - Asset usually functions enough for standards. She is moody and reactive. However, she breaks down physically and emotionally more often than hoped, despite how eager she is to please.
HISTORY & DESCRIPTION
PERSONALITY:Asset is eager to please. She is optimistic and sweet with the team(perhaps a little too sweet at times), often determined to make things go right. However, her mood shifts frequently, cycling through a variety of emotions. The asset is currently under ongoing observation for emotional instability and elevated anxiety levels.
She overreacts to banter and becomes easily distressed when she feels mocked or dismissed. Crying spells have also been reported following stressful events or perceived failures.
She often displays intermittent “starlet tendencies,” including dramatic reactions and a strong need to be praised and reassured, even for minor efforts. While usually harmless and rooted in insecurity rather than malice, these behaviors can complicate operations if not managed.
Despite her outward warmth, the asset displays notable social withdrawal patterns. She instinctively distances herself from potential friendships, often pulling away the moment emotional closeness begins to form. During combat scenarios, the asset’s demeanor shifts dramatically. Her softness gives way to an intense, locked-in focus. She falls silent and locks into the battle.
BIO: Roxanne’s life in recent years has been a series of funerals, marked most notably by the deaths of her parents within a year of each other and the later passing of her elder brother. Since then, her life has unraveled into a pattern of instability.
Her behavior has become increasingly erratic: dropping jobs, random spurts of chaotic crime, disappearing for months at a time.
Records show she contacted several hostile organizations, though it is unclear what she was attempting to achieve. These villains repeatedly exploited her, using her as cheap muscle for various operations. She rarely asked for payment.
When finally apprehended, she apologized repeatedly. No follow-up questions were successfully answered.
CRIMES:Asset’s criminal record is erratic, consisting largely of offenses with no clear motive. Charges include: property destruction, petty theft, collateral harm, accessory to various operations, vandalism, physical assault
NAME: Penelope Vance CODENAME: Poe AGE: 29 HEIGHT: 5’3 BIRTHPLACE: San Francisco, CA VIBE: The Sarcastic, Unflappable Tech God DETAIL: Short, choppy platinum blonde hair often hides under a slouchy beanie or the hood of her oversized black hoodie. She wears large, round, black-framed glasses and has a small nose stud. Her arms are covered in detailed floral and circuit-board inspired tattoos that show beneath her sleeves. Her expression usually remains deadpan or smirking, with slight dark circles under her eyes that suggest exhaustion combined with sharp intelligence.
CONTRACT: Compulsory technical service in exchange for unrestricted access to global SDN data systems. Poe accepted the role because it gave her direct, unchallenged access to the most complex digital infrastructure on the planet. This challenge matched her exceptional intellect. It's a technical puzzle, not a moral obligation. |STATUS: Active Liability
POWER & LIABILITY
ABILITIES: Poe can mentally overload specific data streams that control infrastructure systems such as security cameras, digital locks, smart traffic lights, and internal communications. This allows her to create small, temporary errors in reality. She acts as the team's non-physical infiltrator. She can bypass security or create distractions by glitching the digital world.
LIABILITY: Overexertion of her power causes a Digital Artifacting event. This introduces a wave of digital noise that briefly disrupts all nearby sensor and comms data, including the Z-Team's gear. Everyone in the field is forced to rely on analog or unreliable information.
ASSET CAPACITY
STAT|VALUE|RATIONALE
Combat|3|Not a field fighter, but trained in basic self-defense. Can expertly operate defensive remote systems, such as drones and security assets, from dispatch.
Vigor|2|Average physical health. High mental endurance, but low physical stamina because of control room confinement.
Mobility|1|Honestly mostly boils down to just physical disinterest. She works out and has great reaction speed, but ask her to run or anything and she’s out.
Charisma|3|Her dry, cynical humor is engaging. However, her complete lack of a filter makes her difficult to get along with and unpopular with management.
Intellect|4|Genius-level analyst and skilled hacker.
MECHANICS & STATUS
DESIGNATED ROLE: The Dispatcher
SIGNATURE TACTIC/MANEUVER: Poe acts as the team's main person for handling the electronics in the mission area. She uses her intelligence and EDM to find the best routes, avoid security systems, and give precise access to targets. She also is the one that assigns certain people to certain jobs that come in, deciding who would make the most sense for the job given context clues.
PERSONALITY:Poe Vance operates with a deep sense of cynical detachment. She sees the world as a constantly unbalanced and poorly coded MMO game. Her job involves managing the Z-Team, a group she describes as a "predictable chaos of meat puppets," in a mission zone where every variable seems intentionally skewed.
Poe remains unimpressed at all times. She responds to frantic mission communications and corporate orders with a flat, monotone sarcasm. When the team struggles, she does not yell. Instead, she dryly points out that they are "inting" or that their performance has been "nerfed." If a plan is not working well, she tells them to "re-spec" their current approach, using her smarts to highlight their obvious tactical errors. To her, corporate policy is "whale bait" meant for suckers, and management consists of easily manipulated "NPCs" whose dialogue lacks substance.
This cynical armor, shaped by years of dealing with her narcissistic family, keeps her unflappable amid emotional chaos. Fear and panic come across as wasted noise. Importantly, Poe does not tolerate any nonsense. Any attempt to insult or tease her will result in a sharp comeback, usually delivered in a calm, analytical tone that makes the other person feel foolish. She is fiercely loyal to the Z-Team because they are "real"—truly broken and struggling. She backs them up by interfering with corporate systems to make sure they get the "loot" and achieve an "EZ win condition," all while clearly expressing her disdain for the effort.
BIO:Penelope Vance’s life started in the suffocating wealth of Cascadia’s elite. Her family’s money came from high-end architectural design and corporate law, acting like a gilded cage. Her parents were experts at climbing the social ladder and were textbook narcissists. They valued looks, obedience, and pedigree above all else, seeing their children as mere extensions of their brand. This environment raised two "Golden Children": Alistair, a successful corporate lawyer, and Seraphina, a doctor famous on social media. Both siblings easily filled the roles their parents wanted.
Penelope, however, was the immediate black sheep. From a young age, she viewed the family’s love and success as shallow and transactional. She quickly built a thick, cynical shield. She refused to play along with their charade and never sought their approval. While Alistair and Seraphina trained for society, Poe retreated to the attic, obsessively taking apart and putting together computers. Her parents openly expressed their dislike for her passion for technology, calling it "uncivilized" and "low-class," but they maintained a fake support for appearances. For Poe, the digital world became a refuge of real logic and tough problems, a sharp contrast to the emotional dishonesty of home.
Her intelligence led to a short but brilliant career in professional gaming. She dropped out of her elite university track and gained recognition in the global esports scene for her quiet, ruthless style. She was praised for her unmatched tactical analysis and unusual routing strategies. This success ended abruptly when her ability surfaced during a major championship, causing a disastrous digital glitch that resulted in an opponent’s failure. The competitive scene, fearful of metahuman interference, quickly branded her a cheater and banned her for life.
Her forced retirement became an opportunity for her parents to regain control. They constantly pushed her toward something "prestigious and helpful," like being a top neurosurgeon or an executive, something that would look good on a gala invitation. Poe flatly refused, solidifying her role as the irreparable black sheep. She sought high-skill, non-glamorous technical work, making a living in the grey markets of data analysis and security. Her exceptional hacking abilities and skill in manipulating digital environments eventually attracted the SDN. They didn’t care about her cynical view or her past; they were only interested in her raw intelligence and her proven ability to bypass any security measure.
Poe accepted the Dispatcher role, not out of obligation but because it gave her access to the most complex digital systems on the planet, which were worthy challenges. She views her communication with the Z-Team assets as dealing with the "predictable chaos of meat puppets," but she is fiercely loyal to them. They are genuine, scarred, and struggling, a stark contrast to the polished corporate facade she grew up with.

ASSET VISUAL REFERENCE
NAME / CODENAME Chadwick THE BRAND
ROLE Branch Manager/Team Liason
CRITICAL STAT CHARISMA (9)
CORE FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY
Primary Ability: Chadwick radiates an aura of genuinely blinding, aggressively positive energy. Anyone within his immediate presence experiences an illogical sense that all problems are solvable with enough synergy and "can-do" spirit, often temporarily dulling negative emotions and tactical realism…at least, that's what he likes to believe. He doesn't really have any powers that we know of.
Liability/Drawback: If his optimism is logically countered or genuinely questioned, he enters a feedback loop where his “aura” intensifies uncontrollably, leading to high-volume, nonsensical corporate motivational speech until he leaves the room.
Signature Tactic: He will interrupt mission-critical comms to use aggressively supportive nicknames ("Champ," "Rockstar," "Partner," "Team Player," “Gal Pal”) and will derail mission briefings with motivational anecdotes, team-building exercises, or irrelevant praise for a low-performing asset. Always focuses on feeling good over doing well.
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE
Possesses zero tactical intelligence but operates with unwavering, manufactured confidence. He sees the Z-Team not as assets, but as a "family" that needs "empowerment" and "engagement." He seems completely immune to sarcasm and failure, reprocessing all negative data as "growth opportunities." His primary goal is meeting corporate KPIs and maintaining a pristine, positive public facade, making him highly susceptible to manipulation via praise and corporate buzzwords. His perfect hair remains unruffled under all circumstances. Will he ever break? My bet is on Murphy breaking him first.
ORIGIN
Born from unknown circumstances, likely in a well-funded corporate incubator. He possesses "sculpted by the gods" blonde features and was fast-tracked through every SDN management program solely on the strength of his immaculate appearance and relentless positive attitude. His previous role was reportedly managing a highly successful but completely pointless motivational seminar circuit.
ASSET PORTRAIT & ID NAME: Muyang “Yang” Lee CODENAME: Monkey Prince AGE: 23 HEIGHT: 5’9 BIRTHPLACE: Downtown LA, CA VIBE: If Rush Hour had one main character. DETAIL: Yang has a more brownish mahogany skin tone, the bright demon red that the picture suggests is only in certain lighting. He’s also quite hairy, if you hadn’t noticed, but it appears to be mostly well managed even if a bit wild. Yes he does indeed have a tail and sometimes he’ll hold stuff with it. His golden eyes are not contacts but his true eye color. His teeth, if you look at them, are more monkey-like in nature than a typical human set, with particularly large canines. His voice resembles Will Yun Lee. CONTRACT: Debtor/Form of Alternative Sentencing |STATUS: Active Liability POWER & LIABILITY
ABILITIES: A Supernatural Physiology - Yang was born with a physical prowess that is naturally well beyond that which most regular humans could achieve. He is strong, agile, solidly durable, and has accelerated healing. Yang also seems to have some resistance to magical and mental effects.
Monkey See, Monkey Do - Yang has the capability to copy any humanoid movement after seeing it once. Due to this power, in his chosen field, he displays a prodigious mastery beyond his years in different forms of hand-to-hand combat. Essentially, anything you’ve seen in an old kung fu movie that requires skill, Yang can probably do it.
The Ruyi Jingu Bang - As stated on the tag at the antique store he stole it (back?) from, it is the staff that belonged to the original Monkey King. When Yang has it on his person, he claims can hear Sun Wukong’s voice. The Old World Monkey is supposedly like a coach to him, offering both wisdom and witticism. It appears to be the real deal, as it’s seemingly indestructible. He can use it to block most types of projectiles. It is currently about six feet long but is capable of shrinking to the size of a flashlight for easy storage. It was only after Yang claimed the staff that some of his other abilities started to develop.
See No Evil, Hear No Evil - Super-Senses. As what’s surely a result of his physiology, he has a heightened, animalistic sense of touch, taste, sight, smell, and hearing. This is coupled with a sixth-sense to detect supernatural, paranormal, or magical energy. This would enable him to help distinguish if certain abilities, superhumans, or effects are magically inclined in some way.
The Skywalker - As recently as a couple weeks ago, he learned how to summon a cloud to transport him. When it forms, it comes to roughly four cubic feet on average; large enough for him to sit and stand on. It is dense enough that an average person could feel the difference in air pressure, but it is not solid to the touch. It can lift him and whatever he’s holding. With it Yang can fly fairly quickly in open air.
LIABILITY: The Monkey Prince is just that; a prince. He still has a lot of growing to do as well as understanding some of his powers. Yang is strong and durable but there are plenty of metahumans out there who are stronger. His resistances don’t make him immune and can be overtaxed. He doesn’t have much experience using his cloud, and he doesn’t have his flight license yet. He can fly with it but if he loses focus, it will dissipate. He also can’t figure out how to use it to hold anything other than his staff. Speaking of, Yang doesn’t currently seem to be able to wield the Ruyi Jingu Bang to its supposed legendary potential. Gramps apparently says he has to earn it. So for now it’s just a heavy bendy stick. He can sense the supernatural but that doesn’t give him the answer on how to respond to or counter it. He has many moves but doesn’t know every trick in the book. His hotheaded nature sometimes can be a PR headache.
ASSET CAPACITY STAT|VALUE|RATIONALE Combat|4|Alls his life he has to fight; his expertise is being up close to throw hands. Yang’s also pretty well accustomed to melee weapons, more specifically that staff he carries around but he can improvise. Vigor|3|Muyang is clearly not just human but kind of like a magic(?) mutant(?) monkey person hybrid. That, plus his training/live combat experience makes him fairly more resilient and solid endurance wise. Mobility|4|Between his monkey-like agility, dexterity, and having a literal cloud to ride on, pinning him down is a nightmare for opponents. He’s also rather surprisingly sneaky, which tends to explain why he was good at stealing. Charisma|1|Yang doesn’t exactly have the gift of gab when it comes to what is perceived as important. He can be considerably immature as when he gets frustrated, he’ll be more inclined to swing than talk his way out. Intellect|1|Outside of fighting, Yang isn’t exactly the smartest monkey in the barrel. Academically, he represents the bare minimum. Tech wise? The best you get is being a video game casual. MECHANICS & STATUS
DESIGNATED ROLE: Poke It With A Stick
SIGNATURE TACTIC/MANEUVER: His ability to copy movement and his super senses make him really good at tracking down people and things.
EMOTIONAL STABILITY RATING (1-5): 4 - Although he can be overly aggressive at times, martial arts requires discipline and focus; two qualities that translate over to his field work. That said, he isn’t an infallible wall of will, and he can be distracted sometimes, especially if he doesn’t particularly like what he’s doing. More often than not though, he’ll see his given task through.
HISTORY & DESCRIPTION PERSONALITY: To describe Muyang in one phrase, it would be “A whirlwind.” He’s full of contradictions: A pretty laid-back guy with a destructive temper. An playfiend that’s secretly quite sensitive. Sometimes he can come across as an unserious simple-minded little shit. Though if you’re observant, sometimes it’ll seem like he’s looking out into the distance trying to find something that isn’t there. Still other times when you hear him talking to you won’t be able to tell if he’s talking to you, the immortal spirit in his head, or just himself.
Because Yang grew up not really having shit, he’d steal random things. It’s just out of habit though— most of the time he doesn’t even really want the stuff he takes and he’ll typically put things back. Yang tends to push the envelope sometimes to see how much he can get away with. Because of the lack of guiding figures in his early years, he tends to mock authority figures and be self-reliant. He also tends to use the vibes of his circumstances to bounce off of. For example, if his friends are happy, he’s a goofball, if there’s tension, he’s going to instigate.
Despite his many shortcomings though, Yang has something of a conscience with a sense of honor. If he says he’s going to do something, he’s going to do it, good and bad. He does try to do right by people most of the time, and even when he was wildin out, there were things that he bluntly wouldn’t do. If one were to become his friend, they’d discover a different side to mischievous monkey. He has a heart, he just doesn’t know how to use it properly. Ultimately, he’s just somebody’s wayward son trying to figure out how to be a better person.

BIO: His story actually starts before he was born. He was feeble and it seemed like he wasn’t going to make it. It had gotten dire enough that his father prayed, begging anybody listening, to give them a healthy son. Which, in a world filling up with superhumans, coming from all kinds of origins, you probably shouldn’t just pray without putting a name on it.
Yang’s soul initially started out in limbo, though luckily, with the Chinese spirits getting a headstart to claim it because of his mother’s lineage. Out of the names drawn from a celestial hat, Sun Wukong was the winner. Although his initial choice was to be reborn in the boy’s place, the Jade Emperor was a hater and wouldn’t allow him back on the mortal plane to wreak havoc. So instead the Monkey King would have to settle for living vicariously through the child. Thus, because of the monkey king’s influence, Muyang was born a little brown furball.
Now that we have all that backstory, seemingly being a child gifted from the gods and such, you would think he was destined for greatness. Not exactly…at least, not at first. His folks struggled to make ends meet and them leaning on the system. It pushed his dad to a life of crime which got him locked up when Muyang was very young. Thus without a dad-like figure and a mom who was constantly at work, he didn’t exactly have much in the way of a proper upbringing.
Initially in school, kids made fun of the black monkey boy. It hurt at the time but it wasn’t really traumatizing, especially when some learned the hard way that monkey boy was quite heavy handed. The fighting led to his mom putting him in a martial arts class after school to see if that would help with tempering his aggression.
To her surprise it actually worked, as the combat sport seemed to come natural to him and mellow him out somewhat. He found a mentor in Master Shaun and met his best friend Marcus in his time there. It was Marcus, in fact, that put together how similar he was to the Monkey King of legend and coined his nickname “Monkey Prince”. Things were looking up, though it didn’t solve all of his problems.
During his sophomore year in high school, he ended up joining a gang called the Wildlings where they all took on animal type motifs. Being one of the few superpowered teens in the gang, Muyang was often the top enforcer. Marcus happened to be the other half of their super-powered duo, but he was more often the brains of their operations. They got into trouble, as teens do, The crimes typically went from tagging abandoned buildings to shoplifting to robbery. It was never meant to be anything too serious.
One of those robberies led to him finding the Ruyi Jingu Bang, at an old pawn shop. As soon as he touched it, Monkey Prince met Monkey King. His elder initially congratulated him for finding the staff, and then reprimanded him for all of his misconduct. Of course, Yang saw this the same way any other teen in his position would: He blew it off.
Though between having to hide things from his mother, Master Shaun hearing of their escapades, and now Cranky Kong in his head, Muyang’s growing conscience was weighing on him. To make matters worse, the notoriety of their crimes were starting to escalate as Marcus’ ambitions started to climb. It ultimately led up to an incident. An incident that led Yang to fight his former best friend and turn him over to the cops.
It resulted in him leaving the Wildlings and, in the end, his mother convinced him to turn himself in as well. When the suits came in and started talking to him about deals, he was initially hesitant, not wanting to go out a snitch.
Though one of them, the SDN guy, laid it out to Yang differently; He would avoid going to prison with his pops, he’d be given now the opportunity to right some wrongs, and use his skills to make some money a better way if he followed the rules. So the Monkey Prince was inducted into the Phoenix Program and drafted to the Z-Team.
