Name: Alistair Kaelen Vance
Gender: Male
Age: 38
Appearance
Vance stands at an even 6', or 1.83 meters. He has an athletic, well-maintained build that was honed by mandatory physical conditioning and a very demanding career. He has razor sharp eyes, and dark hair that is typically kept in a close-cropped, regulation-standard cut, although the odd grey hair has appeared every so often despite his young age. His facial structure is defined by a strong jawline with a perpetually serious, often focused expression. He is rarely seen outside of a crisp United Systems Federation (USF) uniform. While his preferred uniform color is grey, Vance's uniforms often come in dark blue, black, and grey. Regardless, they often show a silver piping that indicates a command track specialization and rank pips on his collars.
While on the Arcadian, he wears a slightly more formal, high-collared version of the uniform. Ground operations that involve the XO often call for a more tactical, reinforced duty uniform.
Personality
Vance is precise, disciplined, and intensely logical, the epitome of the USF military. He values efficiency and structure above all else and is often perceived as cold or reserved. These traits were possibly inherited from growing up on the highly structured colony of Eden, in Alpha Centauri. He will rarely raise his voice, but does command respect. Vance has a certain degree of loyalty to rules and regulations, but deep down, is fiercely loyal to the crew and objectives of the Arcadian. He may struggle with the ambiguity of deep space exploration and potential grey areas the crew might encounter.
It should be further noted that despite his icy exterior, Alistair does truly care for the crew. He does struggle with showing empathy and emotions towards the crew. He wants to make sure the crew is healthy and that they return home safely. One of the many ways he shows his care is to make sure the ship runs at peak efficiency, along with following rules and regulation to the best of everyone's abilities. He doesn't push the crew out of cruelty, but to ensure they are safe.

Background
Having been born on the Alpha Centauri colony of Eden, Alistair grew up in a stable and structured environment. Eden was founded by pragmatic scientists and engineers that valued such an environment. With his parents being in the colonial government, Vance grew to have a deep respect for law and order.
He eventually joined the USF Academy as soon as he was able to and grew to distinguish himself with top marks. Vance fast-tracked his career, having served on several deep-range cruisers before being hand-picked for the Pathfinder Initiative. He sees the mission as not just one of exploration, but to meet new species and bring law and order to a potentially chaotic galaxy.
Miscellaneous
- Vance has a hidden appreciation for music, especially pre-WWIII music. You can often find him listening to music in the observation room, when he thinks he is alone. It is a stark contrast to his usual public persona.
- He tends to a small garden in his quarters.
