In terms of quality, the last two episodes have been totally bankrupt, apart from a few small moments. In my opinion, anyway.

I wouldn't agree! I don't actually watch the show all that much because I read the books but no Winds of Winter yet so I decided to give it a watch. And I must say, I did enjoy it. Episode 8 felt like a build-up episode, I will admit, but it did have some good points like Arya killing the Waif-u and Cersei choosing violence.

Episode 9 was on and off for me but for the most part, I enjoyed it, even if it wasn't particularly intelligent. Once again, Dany solved shit by burning things (she's starting to remind me of the Mad King) and although her scene was cliché, I did enjoy her interactions with Asha (not Yara >.> ). The battle was really cool, even if Rickon and Jon pissed me off. Personally, however, I liked it because it was the only time in the series where I liked Sansa. And it wasn't because she got vengeance but because she's starting to actually become a player in the game and you can see that everything that was done on her has made her cold and hard.

@boomlover I think many of the 'bad characters' were written to be bad.

As much as Joffrey was an asshole I absolutely loved him as he represented what frankly most noblemen were in the medieval times were - sick twisted humans that had their own quirks. Sansa is the representation of a medieval girl -- albeit that she has received fantasy traits now. Never the less she is still a woman in the sense that she is meek and calm, quiet and doesn't speak unless spoken to. Now she's more like a Boudica, that stands up for her people, the Northerners.

Whichever it is.

I've always liked these flawed characters more -- Tyrion was cool, because he was flawed, and because his family hated him. It drives interesting characters. Now that he did what he did to his family, he is suddenly less interesting, because he went from being an underdog to being 'a hero' of sorts.

I've stopped watching every since last season. All my favorite characters died, and those few interesting ones that remained were quickly swallowed in the ever lasting cesspit that is heroism. Jon Snow is a hero now? Really? Last I heard a bastard was a bastard, and it's only wishful writing that allows him to take the position he has taken. It takes away from the 'gritty reality' aspect that represented history which I loved so much, and it has become a random fantasy saga at this point.

I think it is mostly that switch that made me stop watching. Little more than wishful writing remains, where plot twists were interesting and unexpected before (really, fucking red wedding, who saw that shit coming) they have become rather pale now. Everyone knew Jon Snow was alive before it was revealed to be like that (mostly because killing Jon Snow would kill the show. So many fangirls watch GoT just to get their panties wet off of a wet dream of Jon Snow being emo in their face.) and it's all become rather stale and predictable. :/

If you can get past that it's easily in the top 10 shows of modern times, but to be honest the plot holes are just too gaping for me to ever consider it like that.

Still better writing than Walking Dead though.

Eh, I thought 9 was pretty weak, overall. Dany literally just replayed her greatest hits (burning baddies, saying cool stuff, being hypocritical) only this time, it was just sort of played out and pointless. We all knew she was going to win that battle, what with the dragons and the Khalessar and everything, but the series still tried to give us some cheap tension by a 'cliff hanger' ending of the previous episode and that whole 'terms of surrender thing'.

And don't even get me started on the battle in the North...

@NarcissisticPotato
Well, no. She's not playing the game, she's still being played. Littlefinger is not a nice person who fought so hard for so long to gain power, just so he could help Sansa. Notice how she started to argue with and doubt Jon only after talking with him. She's not much more of a player now than she was before and the scene with Ramsay just felt like fanservice to me, though it could be argued that Sansa is filling the REVENGE role that Lady Stoneheart does in the books.

B after rubbing it in our face every twenty seconds for multiple seasons that Ramsay is a bad guy, I hoped they'd do something smarter than just another gruesome death. I mean, after all the things GoT has done to villains (crown for king, burning alive, choking to death, shot on the toilet) I feel they could've given more impact to the death by making it stand out as not just one more grisly act of vengeance but something more interesting. I was hoping they'd execute him with a call back to the first ever episode, you know, "the man that passes the sentence must swing the sword". As it is, I just sort of tuned out when he the scene in the cell started.

@Roosan

Quite the contrary, I think, and that's down to a quote from Littlefinger himself - "When you know what a man wants you know who he is, and how to move him." You see, Sansa knows exactly what Littlefinger wants and that allows her to move him. He doesn't want to help her, he simply wants her. Previously, she was his pawn because she had no power to do anything. But now, Sansa is the rightful heir to the North (under the assumption that Bran isn't coming to take the seat) and she holds Winterfell. Littlefinger can't use her anymore but she can use him very easily. Granted, he controls the Knights of the Vale but they're not exactly going to turn on her and the Starks are in a good position to collect their strength again.

As to Ramsay's death, I thought it was an intelligent choice. Jon has displayed time and time again that he follows his father's teachings on 'the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword' but I think the most of him didn't want to give Ramsay an honourable death and I believe he would have killed him in the courtyard if he didn't realise that Sansa wanted to kill him. You have to remember that if they take Ramsay up onto a podium and execute him, that's free air-time. His death would be remembered and thus, he would be remembered. Plus, the man had just killed Jon's brother and raped his sister - an honourable end wasn't likely for Ramsay.

Maybe it could also be taken for an image that the Stark way in itself is dead? The Stark's have always been about honour and it was honour that got Ned Stark, Robb and Catelyn killed so honour is clearly defunct in this world.

We are getting a little more and more towards an OOC. Making things up from the bottom here, so it's a little more difficult. Something that came to my attention is not wanting to split up the group at all, which would happen if a few people are from one land and a few are from the other- you may never interact; and that kind of defeats my original want of having a big hearty group.

This is where I am going to have you guys vote of which area you would like our group to focus on.
Your character can be originally from any of the locations but is now situated in this one area.

A plot is slowly being developed so things will come more into play as my dumb head thinks of things.

VOTES:
1) The City: 1
2) The Mountain: 1
3) The Sea:
4) The Forest:
5) The Desert:

Each of the areas have their own leading family, bastard name, etc etc that I want to expand on and am working on- but if something interest you just as you guys start thinking of characters, let me know and I'll try to tell you what I have so far :)

@MissCapnCrunch I'm gonna have to vote for the city. It makes most sense from an OOC perspective that exchanges between two courts take place in the royal court.
