I watched him carefully, The boy was lucky we were in a school, this made me hate law and order that I would have to get used to compared to the chaotic and wild life I grew up upon. I accepted the gifts, observing them silently before finally speaking up. "You're lucky I am merciful kid, don't tell me how to act." I found it especially offensive how he suggested for me to have a more humble tone. How dare he, the lesser creature dares to humilify a dragon?! I was in good control of my anger, and I didn't let it show, looking over to the girl who introduced herself as Katherin. I looked at her hand, at first I questioned what the hell she was doing in a silent stare, but I realized that this was a gesture of greetings. Reluctant to touch such an imperfect creature, I replaced it with another prideful smirk as I shook her hand. "Nice to meet you miss." I said, she at least seemed less annoying then the other one.

Cabal Attends Classes With Classmates (01)

Cabals gaze hardened as he watched white-haired girl go, unperturbed by his sudden show of deadliness. He smelled the knife on her before she had taken it out; in fact, he had seen her draw it before. As such, it was no longer a surprise, or a threat.

Fool girl, he thought. In trying to establish her position as predator, she'd inadvertently confirmed her position as prey -- at least, she was prey as far as the ash-boy was.

In fact, it was worse than that. She was not just prey, she was prey that thought it could play predator against those higher in food-chain. The Ash-Boy was power. He could feel it through his skin. Wild, untamed, juvenile power just waiting to be unleashed. On the other hand, the White-Hare was limited to her smaller existence. Yes, she had tools and perhaps wit to help her surmount what would have previously been impossible for her, but conversely, the existence of those tools was proof of her own weakness. A crutch for the weak to give them some semblance of strength.

And there were just powers that could not be surmounted with mere crutches.

Shaking his head, he looked for his own seat, ending up behind the Fox-Girl and looked on as she gave her own mockery of an apology to the Ash-Boy. He nearly spat in disgust. Delusion, he could forgive, but this was now arrogance. An insult veiled by the thin lie of apologizing! It was one thing if he simply wanted to apologize, but she not only acted childish, but she acted like she was somehow the right thing.

"Why even bother with an apology if you're aware it isn't decent? Might has well not have bothered." he hissed loudly, repulsed by the false display of courtesy. "I wasn't aware that backhanded insults counted as making amends these days. In fact, an insult would've been better; it's less pretensions."

He said that loud enough to be heard by the both of them, and anyone else nearby. He could care less about the Ash-boy's pride -- let it be ground to dust for all he cared. What he couldn't stand people were who acted like this. Liars he could stand, swindlers he could tolerate, but fakers? No, not if they deigned to act in front of him. He would put him on the spot if it meant exposing this stupidity.

Suba Attends Classes With Classmates (01)

Suba followed Jackal back to the class, silently fretting over him. He might've just been acting okay, but she couldn't be sure! She new some warriors that aggravated their wounds simply because they were too stubborn to get them treated. With what she'd seen of his personality, it wouldn't surprise her in the least if that was the case.

She ended up sitting nearby him, close to entrance (or was it exit?) of the class. Either way there was certainly a lot of kids here! And so varied too. Back home, while none of them really looked "alike" they all had the same "feel" about them that came with growing up in the same community. Here, everyone felt so different, so foreign.

She was about to approach Jackal once more when he got into a discussion with two other people, a girl and boy.

A voice cut through the din just as the other boy left.

"Why even bother with an apology if you're aware it isn't decent? Might has well not have bothered.I wasn't aware that backhanded insults counted as making amends these days. In fact, an insult would've been better; it's less pretensions."

Uh-oh. Was that . . . a what exactly? It didn't sound like an insult, but it certainly didn't sound friendly either. What happened? She got the feeling that the black-haired boy was really annoyed with . . . the white haired girly-boy there. Wow, that was a really feminine guy. She almost mistook him for a girl at first glance.

Katherin wasn't sure what to make of Jackal. He wasn't outright rude but he wasn't exactly welcoming either. She didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable. She knew not everyone was as outgoing as she was. Some people wouldn't want to be friends. She respected some lines could never be crossed. She hoped to make as many friends as possible. She didn't care what species a person was. What mattered to her wad that they were good people. "I am glad to hear that. What exactly are you?" it was probably rude to ask but she figured there was no point in trying to hide their true selves here. She turned her head towards the boy making the rude comment. Well it seemed like many here were less then friendly. She wasn't sure what she thought of that.

As Einar got back to his place, he looked to Katherin
"I'm back. Sorry about all this. We all started wrong, didnt we?" He said looking to Jackal on the last sentence.

"Anyways, i hope we can left this behind us. I"ll just follow my way, and you folow yours. We have a truce?" He asked with his hand extended to him. "After all, we are here so we can learn to live together with humans. And to do so, we need to treat them and yourselves as equals.". "Oh and Please, could you stop calling me boy? I have a name. Its Einar, and i'm actually 18, so i'm not exactly a boy, you see" He said calmly. With his hand still extended

"Come here Mira, join us! Dont stay there, all by yourself" Einar Said a little louder, trying to hide his anger as much as he could, visibly showing signs of almost losing his mind.

Nodding as quickly as possible, Leo moved away from the group. It was too risky to talk to people at that moment. He didnt have the social skills necessary, and would probably say something stupid. He was pretty sure that the headmaster or something knew who he was, but apart from that, he had no idea. Did the teachers know? Any of the students? Did someone sneak a peek at his paperwork? Did he actually have any paperwork for his induction into this school? Why was he asking all these questions when he was probably already late?

He managed to get to the classroom just behind the rest of them, and sat around the back, trying not to catch anyones eye while moving past them, which proceeded to cause him to trip over a chair and fall flat on his face. Scrambling up, he sat down, only to realize he was fairly close to the others. Apologizing profusely, he sat down in a chair, and quickly moved to another chair slightly further away when he decided that it was still too close.

"Smooooooooth."

He then rested his head on his desk.

"So...hows that fight of yours coming along?" He asked the people having a confrontation in the room, sounding interested.

I grinned at her profoundly once she asked me a question. I would stand up from my desk with one foot on top of it as I began. "Katherine, you have the honor to be speaking with a dragon." Finishing I'd make a triumphant, over confident smile with my eyes closed. Though this pose ended abruptly when the Bunny Boy spoke to me. "Hmph, listen...Einar..we can pretend to be equal all we want. But you'll never be on my level. But for now, a "truce?" Fine." Finishing with him I turned over to the spectator. "Well it appears the discourse is hopefully over." I said as I got back into my seat.

After hearing what the dark boy said, Einar lost his calm
"Look here... You threaten me the first time you see me. followed me, saying you wanted to talk to me while diving down on me, and now this?? It was an honest apology. I wont bow down to that arrogant boy just because he thinks he is the king of the world. I was as honest as I could possibly be with that apology. But you still don't seem to perceive that." Einar yell

"its not hostility... its arrogance. you are as bad as mr lizard king there... You two lack any kind of social skills, lack courtesy, education and class. you are only beasts. pitiful beasts acting out of useless arrogance, pride and self satisfaction. If you want my respect, you must need to learn how to behave yourselves"

"I may be a calm person, but one thing I cant stand is arrogant people. I would love to kill you right now, splattering your "royal blood" across the room, or watching as you contort yourself in agony, that same blood you think is so special, mixed with all sorts of deadly poisons... but I dont want to get my hands dirty." Einar said, with his eyes darting from the dark boy to jackal, with a furious, penetrating glare, full of rage.

"i'm sorry to speak like this, but i'm done with you, spoiled brats. you came here to learn how to live amongst humans, yet the very first thing you two do is mock at people, threaten them and throw yourselves at each other's throats. now, excuse-me. i'm afraid that if I stay in the same room as you any longer, i'll lose my self control." Einar said, his hands trembling as he stood up.

"One more thing: Strength without intelligence is useless. Strength is not power. intelligence is."
"you don't know what I am capable of" Einar said menacingly, as he stormed out of the room his claws showing, leaving marks on the door as he opened it. it was very hard for him too control himself on that situation.

Getting on the restroom he washed his face. trying to calm himself

"Why... what is wrong with them?" Einar asked to himself, "why can't they be even a little civilized? I never met anyone who acted like that..." he said, puzzled. he didnt understood why they were like that

I glared at the bunny boy as he tried to defend himself against the comments of the man I saw on the bus, I had to admit his commentary on that kid's behavior was well put and amusing. Although I typically didnt like it when others got involved with my own battles, predators dont always hunt alone. I could tell I was gonna get along with that one well. This other kid, however, I didnt want anything to do with him. "Alright lads why don't we save the anger after class." I gave the man who I saw turn into a bird a wink and an almost sinister grin. "We can settle things later, besides I'm not sure that the other lot would appreciate a scene. Especially these fine ladies."

Katherin sighed as he watched the three boys interact. She had been hoping that this thing wouldn't happen here. But it seemed that the supernatural community wasn't any better then the humans when it came to racism. She supposed it wouldn't be racism here. More like speciesism or something. Whatever you called it it was worse here. She hated the whole 'you're not as good as I am' thing. It was pointless. No one was truly better then anyone else. They all had their strengths and weaknesses. "I thought we were all better then this. I guess I should have know that things wouldn't be any different here."

Mira looked over to the small group by the window. She was asked to come join them. She had heard the whole conversation and how Jackal was a dragon. She got up and started to walk over as she saw the boy name Einar rush from the room. She found a seat in front of where Einar sat. She sighed as she sat down. "Wow why does everything have to be so tense." She said to no one in particular. She didn't understand why everything was so tense. She looked at Katherin "Hi, I am Mira" She smiled. She figured maybe making friendly conversation would break up some of the tension.

Katherin turbed her attention to the other girl. She gave the girl a half hearted smile. She held her hand out once sgsin. Her hopes of making a friend seemed to be getting smaller with every encounter. Maybe she should have stayed in the human world. She had been able to blend in for the most. She had come to the school to connect to others like her. But now she was starting to wonder if she had made the right choice.

After the lad went to the restroom, and I gave Cabal a hint to a sinister plan, I would take one large breathe of relief. "Sorry there folks, you'll have to forgive my temper. Call it instincts, territorial behavior, or pride, but I get rather heated when some idiot decides to plow my face in the dirt." Now that he was gone I felt much less angry, never before had stress left me quicker, it was refreshing. "I dont believe I've gotten everyone's name, or perhaps I did and I dont remember. Aside from Katherin of course, lovely lass she is. Incase you haven't heard, My name is Jackal, a dragon of course." I straighter my tie with my established cocky grin. "Your identities?"

Mira took her hand and shook it. She looked over at Jackal "I am Mira, I am a Kitsune" She tilted her head at him "You know I have never met a dragon before." She returned his cocky grin with her own devious grin. "All I have heard about dragon are that they are a couple of hot heads" She giggled a bit to herself. She started rolling the ball on her necklace again. "It is nice to meet you both, even though we met briefly before Jackal back at the bus." She said looking at the both of them.

Cabal Thinks His Classmates Are Strange

Cabal went from irritated, to puzzled. Einar's reaction was expected, but his words made no sense. Arrogance? Was not he the one who decided that he would apologize with an insult? That seemed more arrogant to him, especially given his position as prey. The same thing with courtesy. Was that considered a courteous apology?

For all his claims of intelligence equals power, he seemed to be lacking a good chunk of it.

"How strange. I wonder if he noticed how flawed that statement was. If strength without intelligence is useless, could not the same be said for intelligence? After all, intelligence without the strength to back it up is also without value." He said ruefully, looking at Jackal, Mira and Katherine. "I do not understand him. Personally, I do not recall ever mocking him. In fact, as far as I can recall, I was giving him advice."

He shook his head in exaspiration.

"In any case, I will refrain from giving out my true form. I was instructed not to, but I will give my name. Cabal Sabacan. It's nice to meet you," he said, rising up and thumping his chest thrice before bowing. The traditional greeting of his clan's warriors. He glanced at Jackal. The dragon was planning something, of which he was not surprised. Dragons, especially the younger ones, were devious creatures on the best of times.

Turning to Mira, he tilted his head, a curious expression on his face. "What is a Kistune?"

Suba Relaxes And Tries To Make Friends!

Suba was anxiously glancing back and forth between the boys in the class, worried that the rising tensions would break out into a fight. He really didn't want a fight to happen on the first day . . . or any day for that matter!

Thankfully, things seemed to calm down somewhat as one boy left the room.

"Whew, that was tense, wasn't it," she said to the classmate she was nearest to; a white haired, slick looking boy. Come to think of it, there were a lot of white-hairs in this class.

A loud slam would come from front of the class room as a big burly man just stabbed a knife into the teacher's desk "All of you OUT!" he states "Your all in the wrong class room, This is suppose to be an empty class room!" he states since they are in one of the spare class rooms that are made for when a class room gets damaged for one reason or another as is likely to happen. "Go to the office immediately and get your schedules since apparently none of you have yours" he says, by his voice it's clear his annoyed since it is common sense to go pick up your schedules first thing in a school.

When they make it to the proper class room, Charles would be sitting in one of the seats, with most of the other seats empty besides a small few. He would glance to when the door opens and sighs when the others finally arrive. The teacher would be standing there with her arms crossed tapping her foot. "your all late!" she states loudly.

Einar got back to the room just in time to hear the dark boy introduce himself and talking about his words.

"Intelligence trumps strength. Look at the humans, they are weak, but are still alive and thriving even being one of the weakest sentient creatures alive." Einar said, calmly. "There is no denying to this fact." "From the stories that I've heard, humans have weapons that can destroy an entire continent"

"You threatened me the moment I got here, saying that I am "delicious", comparing me to food." Einar said, walking to the seat near the window, away from the group formed where he was.

"The reason behind my actions is only to defend myself. After that blatant threat, Jackal mocked my stand, making me more of a target to possible enemies. I don't wish to sound rude, but currently, the only ones that I trust are Katherin," Einar stops, looking to the brown skinned girl, with black hair

snif snif

"Oh, the joyful lady from the bus. She seems like a lovely lady, I don't sense hostility or evil in her", he thought, remembering her harmless charater.

"that lovely brown skinned lady that smells like water and Mira, although I have some doubts about the later. Every other person Is possibly an enemy to me, not that I wish to make enemies though."

Looking to the girl-who-smells-like-water Einar says, with sad, but kind eyes "I'm very sorry that you had to see me irritated like that, my name is Einar."

"There is a reason behind my name." Einar said, looking to Katherin and the brown skinned girl, completely ignoring the rest.
"It means literally "The one who fights alone". In my rigid settlement, I was the only viera with blonde hair. I was always different, treated with prejudice. Everything got worse when I grew up, showing interest by the world outside and humans. I was treated like a tool. I was sent only to the most dangerous hunts. Coeurls, treants, you name it. I almost got killed more times that I could count. I was disposable, the rare occasions on which I had help from other hunters, I was left to die if any danger appeared. My only friend was the human merchant that was allowed to enter our woods, to trade. He used to tell me stories about the outside world and the fantastic world of humans."

"I aways relied on my instincts, intelligence, skills and my body to survive. And in my home, if you show any weakness, the forest will claim your life for its own. When I say that i don't want enemies, I mean it. my sole purpose on coming here, is my thirst for knowledge."

Looking to jackal and cabal now, he said

"Jakal, one of the reasons I don't sympathize with you, is that everyone always acted with arrogance and scorning me on my home.
I threw you on the ground earlier with two reasons: to teach you a lesson about humility and equality and to show you to not mess with me. The reason why I did what I did on the school's entrance to you Cabal is the same. After being threatened of death by you, I had to show that I wanted to be left alone."

"I will do whatever I need to avoid a serious fight with anyone, since I have no reason to. But if anyone threatens or attack me, I will defend myself."

After hearing the big guy yell, he silently got out of the room to get my schedule.
Arriving in the correct room, seeing the teacher Einar said "Sorry, teacher. I didn't have the schedule, and mistook rooms"
Einar was very curious about the teacher, a... cat? He got an urge to hug and pet her, but contained himself. He was already late, it wouldn't be a good idea to get the teacher even more angry. He would ask her later.
Einar went to a random seat near the front of the class.

Mira looked at Cabal and smiled "I am not so sure I should say what a Kitsune is but....." She said just as Einar got into the room. She was happy she was kind of saved by Einar. She blushed a bit when he said he trust her "What doubts could he have in me?"She wanted to asked him. She would asking him at a later time. She jumped as the big man yelled at them, she mentally kicked herself in the head for not going to go get her schedule first. She dashed out of the room and went to go get her schedule. When she finally got into the right room she looked down in shame "Sorry, teacher. I went to a random room because I didn't have a schedule." With that she sat next to Einar near the front of the class.

Katherin was startled when a large man entered the room and started to yell. She calmly picked up her books. She briefly considered cursing him but she wasn't the sort to cause trouble. "You know in the human world they send the schedules to the students before school starts to avoid confusion like this. Why don't you practice what you tesch?" She shook her head. They were suppose to be learning to be human. To her that meant that the school would be set up like those in the real world. Which apparently it wasnt. Someone had failed to do basic resesrch. Maybe going to yhis school hadn't been the right decision. She went to the office to get her schedule then followed the others to the classroom. She made her way to the desk in the same place as she sat in the other classroom. "We're late because you aren't set up the way we're used to. Don't blame us f I r your mistakes."

Leo looked to the cheery looking girl near him, and smiled back nervously.
"Ive seen worse fights."

He paused.
"I cant describe them, but they exist." he said carefully.

Then he heard about the schedules.
"Um...see you soon! I think. Depends on the...er...schedules i guess."
He proceeeded to get his schedule and made his way to the classroom. Upon seeing the teacher and hearing her complain about their lateness, he shrunk back into his chair, hoping he wouldn't get noticed.

This had been most eventful so far. Not at all like they said it would be. Of course, you couldn't predict if someone was going to be an asshole or not.

Cabal Rolls His Eyes, And Resists An Urge To Pet His Homeroom Teacher.

Cabal had to resist the urge to laugh at Einar. THAT was his intelligence trumping strength? Humans and their tools? Not even the reveal that he was in fact a boy could stymie his derision. What rock was he living under that he didn't understand that humans were thriving only because monster-kind as a whole preferred it that way? Let the humans live in the day, ours is the night. That was something all monsters and demons knew since conception. Except Einar apparently. Probably because his clan wanted him dead, so they avoided giving him common sense. No surprise then.

He snorted as he left. He was wrong about him. He was not prey, nor was he a Hunter. Einar was just a child -- a child who had been reared to survive death, without any idea what it meant to truly kill. The knowledge of how he was raised all but confirmed it. He had yet to live and suffer as he and his clan had, a suffering that was so commonplace to them that overcoming it was practically second nature.

Einar's "suffering" was was laughable compared to the pain brought on by over five thousand years of war between different races vying control for the Philippine's Night.

When the large man entered, Cabal tilted his head. Looks like he had made a mistake -- along with everyone else, apparently. He idly wondered that if one person committed an error, it was naturally their fault, but if a large group did, then who was to be held accountable?

Following the schedule he was given, he entered the proper classroom this time, and was promptly scolded with everyone else by their homeroom teacher.

She was a cat. Why was she a cat? He had a pet cat at home. How was he supposed to take her seriously if her ears kept reminding him of his pet? Speaking of pet, he wanted to pet her now. Or scratch her ears. Would she purr the same way his cat would if he did?

Cabal buried his face in his hands to avoid looking at her. Eventually, he found a seat, right next to the Kitsune -- whatever that was -- and gave a polite nod. Of course, that also meant he was near Einar, but that was a minor note for him.

Suba Realizes That Her Life Might Be In Danger

Suba froze suddenly. She had been paying half a mind to the conversation between Einar and Cabal, while also trying to entertain Leo. That was when he heard what Einar said:

"You threatened me the moment I got here, saying that I am "delicious", comparing me to food."

Her eyes flickered to Cabal. The way he carried himself, the way he acted, and now, that term, the term that all Aswang use as a greeting. To call someone delicious was a courtesy for them. There was no doubt, Cabal was an Aswang, the Demons of Philippine's Night.

Her body trembled and she took a shaky step back, barely noticing Leo and Einar talking to her.

Cabal was an Aswang.

Cabal was at school.

Suba was at school.

She was at school with an Aswang!

And now she had a very good reason to fear for her life. This school may be neutral grounds for the Kataw, but not for the Aswang. The Aswang adhered to no treaties, or laws -- they were a law unto their own. It was common for different races to hire an Aswang for assassinations . . . or, worse, exterminations.

Now there was one here with her. The one time a Kataw was sent away to foreign lands was the one time an Aswang did the same. This was not a coincidence.

"U-ugh," she felt sick. She thought she was safe here. Her mind didn't even register as the large man entered and shouted at them. She just put as much space as she could between her and Cabal.

When the class began leaving, she quickly followed them. He may have been an Aswang, but he wouldn't try anything with so many people. As long as she was here, she was sticking close to people! She would not give him the opportunity to catch her alone.

Inside the classroom, Suba took the seat furthest from him, and ended up beside Leo again.

"O-oh! Hi again! Ahahaha," she greeted nervously.
