Hey there, if there is still room I would love to post some interest in playing a mundane that may or may not get powers later! That always make it interesting!

some questions on the limitations on the powers, in-order to get to know your theme/general power limits.
Would you allow masterminds who's specialty is based around making advanced or unusual devices or machines? either sci-fi or magical in theme.
the ability to create/command minions like goblins, invertebrates, squirrel, metal/stone shaped into rhinos etc?
Are the powers requiter the individual to be able to pass as default human with no physical alterations to the body?
If you allow Animal Shapeshifting would you allow Shapeshifting into other things, for example werewolves or other mystical creatures, machines, some kind of themed group of monsters like Tyranids or zerg etc?
finally force-fields and shaping them into wings, weapons creatures etc?
I think that covers all the things that may or may not be out of bounds.

Quite interested in this! You can never go wrong with a simple and wholesome superpower RP. I think I already have a few ideas on the character(s) I'll make and their power(s). Can't wait for when this goes live! OvO

I remember this from a while ago and I loved the idea, but I hopped in a bit late. You can count me in this time around :)

but you won't be able to create intricate shapes and objects with them.

So no force field sex toys?

Well, I'm outta here, then.

@Undine
That was incredibly in depth and informative, thank you.
all i will add is that I meant the force field powers as separate ones so you would only be able to one of the things I listed as your whole power and not have the general bubble power either. so the power would be to only make wings or only make weapons etc.

but anyway I will keep in mind to remember KISS for when the cs shows up tomorrow.

@Undine

Can it be safely inferred from your answers that the important rule of thumb about the powers here is that they CAN NOT be versatile in any way and capable of doing more than a single strictly defined thing?

Could you give us a good estimate for the strength of our power at the start? I have a character in mind, I just need to give him an appropriate power.

Aha, i see, thank you for clarification.
I have some further questions.
Considering some of the more basic and unimaginative powers such as super-strength, super-speed, incredible reflexes or resilience - do the masters look further into abilities of that kind and deal with implications some of them have? I.E. a super-strong person absolutely HAS to possess a degree of heightened durability, overall "super-strength" of his tissue and frame in order to not, say, rip his own arms out of his body when attempting to lift something exceptionally heavy and not to shatter his own skeleton when moving. Smiliarly, your typical speedster has to possess a very, very robust system to withstand all the problems that moving on great velocities entail.
Do such "complementary" powers count against the one power per person limit?

Sorry if that was already mentioned somewhere and i have missed it.

Firstly, calling powers like Super Strength and Super Speed unimaginative is a bit of failure of imagination itself. Surely it's the application of powers and the creation of an interesting, compelling character that necessitates and benefits from creativity the most. Hopefully it's also apparent that the aim is not simply to see who can come up with the most unique or broken powers.

Secondly, the limits of the different powers are, on some levels, being kept blurred. Part of the theme of the RP, Science vs magic or quantifiable vs mysterious, would be destroyed by a five paragraph treatment on each power, as that is neither magical nor mysterious. Again, the tone of the RP should make it clear this is not the sort of story where, to use your example, the super strong character immediately rips their own arms off. It's not mystical and not magical.

To answer your question more directly, yes, characters will be largely protected from their own powers. Pyrokinetics won't burn themselves alive, speedsters won't break their bones by coming to a sudden stop and so on. This should not, however, be seen a loophole to try and work a half dozen extra powers out of a single one. I would direct you to @Undine's rule of KISS; Keep it simple, stupid.

@McHaggis I will make a totally mundane character I think, but allowing for GM reign to decide if that character, if ever, seems like it could lead to a lot of interesting character development. I will try and have a CS done today!
