Mark was born to Silver Conference winner-turned shopkeeper James, and teacher Gloria. James's older brother, Zach, si two years older than him, whilst his younger sister, Amy, is three years younger than him. Growing up, Mark spent a lot of time in his father's shop, and spent most of his free time in the canals of Alto Mare, swimming with his father's pokémon and making friends with the wild pokémon of Alto Mare. This gave Mark his love of swimming and fondness of water pokémon, and also allowed him to stay in shape, helped extensively by goign to the gym as a teenager. As he got older, Mark also gained a liking of battling pokémon, mostly using his father's pokémon, or the few pokémon his mother had. He also entered the Tour de Alto Mare a couple of times, but never ranked very highly. After a few years of battling with his father's pokémon, Mark realised that he wanted to battle with his own pokémon, that he had caught, and that weren't found all over Alto Mare. It was then he decided that he would attempt to join the OI Trainer Project, and explore the Kanto region, and get to the top of the Indigo Plateau Conference, just like his father did at the Silver Conference.

Owing to his father's status of winning the Silver Conference, battles were a regular in Mark's life. This meant that Mark was able to see many battles in his life. Sometimes his father would train him, but, unsurprisingly, Mark lost most of the battles. However, these still proved to be good experience, and Mark is considered an average trainer when compared to the rest of Alto Mare, and he is quite good with water and dark type pokémon.

Coming from the Orre region where gangs are a plenty, Magnus has some experience with criminal organizations. Thankfully Kanto doesn't have Snag Machines unlike Orre, so the threat of losing your pokemon isn't nearly as bad in this new region. Moving to Kanto was probably one of the best decisions Magnus had made, as not having to worry about more than 1 or 2 gangs that, in all fairness, weren't nearly as bad as what he had to deal with, really gave him room to explore the world of pokemon.

Samantha grew up as an only child in the coldest place she can imagine. It wasn’t all bad, Snowpoint City is a beautiful place surrounded by natural splendour, most of which is inaccessible to a child, but there just isn’t much to do there. The only points of interest are the Gym, the Temple and the nearby lake and while this may be enough for a tourist, when you are a local there is only so many times you can visit these places before you get bored.

Although Samantha loves her hometown she has also always wanted to leave; specifically she has always wanted to be a Pokémon trainer. Lots of trainers passed through Snowpoint city to challenge the Gym leader, so many that they made up probably 70% of the travellers who came through there, and Samantha would spend a lot of time in the gym so that she could watch the battle and also so she could hear their stories.

The thing about trainers is that they usually like to tell tall tales about their adventures, exaggerated or not, to the point that everyone around them gets bored of hearing them. But Samantha was never bored. She would listen to the stories of any trainer who was willing to tell them and would always try to imagine the places they described and remember to look them up later. The wandering, vagabond life of a trainer has always seemed like the perfect existence to her, and when she got the chance to enter her name into the lottery for the Ol’ Trainer Project in Kanto that’s exactly what she did, every time she could, until she was eventually chosen.

Though she has been audience a several battles in the Snowpoint Gym over the years, Samantha has no first hand battling experience nor did her family keep any Pokémon as she was growing up. The journey she is about to set out on will be the first time she has tried to train or battle a Pokémon.

ＨＩＳＴＯＲＹ

Lance grew up in a pretty mundane and relatively privileged background. His needs were taken care of and he really suffered no real outside of some accidents from being reckless while playing outdoors. When he was younger the opportunity to become a pokemon trainer and go wonder around was presented to him. However, he couldn’t be bothered to go travel around through wilderness for the sake of collecting badges and entering a tourney. He did however capture some pokemon around his area and was fond of a Pidove he named “Flaps”.

As he got older he found himself more distanced from raising them and eventually had to release them. He went to school and found himself some decent paying jobs in something he’s good at. The problem is at his current job, he hates working there. From the people, to the environment, he hates it all and wishes to quit, the problem is wants to work just long enough so they can give him a good recommendation for his new job but finds his patience fraying at having to be there.

Truthfully, he didn’t expect to win the contest, but it’s a good excuse as any to blow off work and have some, while figuring out a excuse as to why he’s quitting and free himself. He’s used some of his savings to kit himself out in good sturdy backpack and some multi-pocketed jeans filled with stuff to help him along. As a joke/self-imposed challenge he fished up a magikarp as his starter.

Generally quiet, aloof, and keeps to himself. Some might see that as shy, but Victor is perfectly fine with people. He is actually quite the people person. He just likes to make the most of conversation. No need for frivolous jargon. Which is quite the juxtaposition to his favorite reading and writing style with lots of flowery prose and exposition. He is extremely polite and honest, but sometimes to a flaw. One of his life goals is to prove chivalry isn't dead.

HISTORY

Born the only child to the owners of the Nacrene City PokeMart Victor was hardly without want. He lived a normal childhood going to school, playing with friends, and helping his family around the Mart. When he was ten he asked permission to go on his adventure like every other ten year old does. Of course he knew the basics of pokemon and there was plenty of travelling trainers that passed through the Mart regularly. There also was his parents partners, his fathers Piloswine and his mothers Machoke, to help teach him. After a year of proving himself he finally set off with a Pansage his father had caught for him.

As it turned out adventuring is much harder than it looked on the cartoons he watched on Saturday mornings. It only took a week to run out of food, get lost, and run low on medicine. Thankfully they ran into a river. Which meant if you followed it either direction eventually you'll hit civilization. What Victor forgot was a river was also a water source for wild pokemon. A fact he never forget thanks to the swarm of Beedrill that attacked Victor and his Pansage. He would have been lost for good if it was for the Pokemon Ranger that saved him, but Pansage wasn't so lucky. The Pin Missile that merely scarred Victor ran true for Pansage, and unfortunately they couldn't reach a PokeCenter in time.

After returning home Victor buried himself in study and research never wanting to repeat what happened ever again. Where most would fall into a deep hole of misery and depression Victor wouldn't let Pansage's sacrifice go in vain. The more he read the more it revitalized his need for adventure. Books on battling, books on fabled adventures, books about the history of pokemon, Victor read it all. Six long years, but it was worth it. He had read every book in the Nacrene City Museum Library. When he wasn't reading he was watching the battles in the Gym proper. After hearing of Victor's feat the Museum Curator suggested signing up for the OI Trainer Project. What better 18th birthday present is there than a letter saying you've been selected.

REASON FOR GOING ON THE ADVENTURE

During his nearly 9 long months of waiting for a response Victor contemplated this very thought. As he waited he decided to write an adventure novel. He had damn near read them all he was confident he could write one. He was wrong. It wasn't eaxctly easy. Every attempt his adventure just ended up sounding exactly like one he had read or an amalgamation of his favorites. It wasn't until he received his acceptance letter that he finally realized that the best way to write an adventure novel is to live an adventure.

Eddy's family lived comfortably in a mobile home in a town that proudly proclaimed itself "The Cleanest Spot In Unova." However, his parents were often busy with work, so they didn't have much time to keep an eye on him after school. As such, Eddy's father came up with a solution- his brother Loyd, the owner of Trauma Pictures, an up-and-coming independent film company. Well, Loyd was frequently busy with production, but he wasn't going to say no to babysitting his favorite nephew. Of course, film sets are a busy place, and they need all the help they can get. Eddy was eager to lend a hand, and proved a capable gofer. However, Loyd began to notice the boy's avid interest in the special effects- and decided to let him help in that department. Eddy proved to be a ready learner, much to his uncle's surprise.

One day, some suit from a Kantonian animation company with an office on the Pokestar lot came forward and entered talks with Loyd. Eddy, being a kid, wasn't privy to the specifics of the talks, but Loyd seemed quite certain he'd hit the big time- they were interested in using one of his signature characters, the Toxicroaksader- a hideously deformed monster hero of superhuman size and strength that fought to protect the environment from evil aliens. There was to be a full 65-episode animated series about the Toxicroaksader, complete with a toyline.

A few months later, however, Loyd was bitter and angry. Apparently something had fallen through, and he'd lost the rights to the Toxicroaksader to an even less important no-name director who happened to work for Pokestar. Two godawful Toxicroaksader sequels were written, which used Trauma Pictures's name and imagery. Loyd was furious, but the lawyers said there was nothing he could do. Eddy still did his best on the set of Trauma's films, but he was shaken by the change in his once jovial uncle.

Recently, though, a loophole in the contract was discovered. Trauma Pictures is back making its own films, their properties are back in the hands of their creators, and Toxicroaksader 4: A Bold Day in Hell opened its credits with a written apology for the films of the intervening years. Loyd might have been left a little unhinged, however... He insisted that what had happened to his darling character could only be the work of "a conspiracy of international devil-worshiping media conglomerates." Whether it was Silph or Pokestar, Jubilife TV or the studio that crippled Hoenn Rangers, the mass media was only interested in destroying independent companies and varied programming. Whether or not it's true, Eddy was curious about the animation studio that worked with his uncle- and the sort of artistic inspiration and personal growth traveling abroad brings didn't hurt either. He grabbed one of the Special Effects Pokemon, a Rotom he'd worked with frequently, and set off for Kanto.

Damian is a reserved/border line aloof individual, he can come off cold as a first impression mainly because of the one that he speaks in but once you get to know him he isn't that bad of a guy. You will learn that he can be quite comical in his own way because he is so honest.

When he meets someone new he will be a bit distant as he gets a feel for your personality but that's just his nature. He grew up observing others more so than actually interacting with them.

Damian can be very competitive if he feels like an activity is worth his time. This is thanks to his dad challenging him in all sorts of things as a child and never once pulled any punches on him. To make matters worse he would even gloat in his face about his victories just to anger him but this also instilled a hard working never give up work ethic in the kid...well when he is invested in something at least. Nowadays he spends his time helping around at home and loungin around in the flower fields around town.

Damian hails from Verdanturf town in the hoenn region, a town known for The Pokémon contests held there. Being the eldest child of his parents, Ross and Melody Grant, Damian grew up around a lot of rather exotic Pokémon since both his parents were raised Pokemon. His dad being a trainer and his mother was a coordinator.

Verdanturf being the town the town both his parents met in was the same town they chose to settle down and decided to raise two kids. Damian and Mia who are 4 years apart in age. At a very young age Damian father would begin competing with his son over the most trivial things. Literally everything was a competition, who could finish their food first, run faster, and cook better. There was always a wager on top of this as well and his dad used it to his advantage. Often making Damian do jobs that he didn't want to do himself. Obviously a kid vs a grown man in these activities would lose, naturally Damian wouldn't care but his old man would always gloat in his face about his victory like a child.

Damian was a strange child, most of the kids his age wanted to become Pokémon trainers and travel around the world. Sure it sounded cool but he felt like it www just a simple pipe dream let alone a load of work and time. His father was a trainer who traveled around in his youth, most of the other kids in his town thought it was really cool but Damian didn't think all that much about it. Sleeping out and walking hours in a direction without knowing where you are going didn't interest all that much. His youth was a much simple time.

These simple times came to an end a few days leading up to his 17th birthday in which his mother became extremely sickly and his father disappearing randomly leaving a simple note saying "Gone on an adventure. Be back soon". Damian couldn't take a simple "be back" and sit still. He wanted to chase after his father but without any pokemon of his own he had to sit still and wait. All the while his mothers condition only seemed to progressively become worst. After half a year of thinking and the thoughts of his mothers condition weighing down on his mind he decided to go sign up for professor Oaks trainer project. It pained him to say goodbye but he wanted to overcome this tribulation as a family, it was mandatory that all members be present.

Damian has very little in battle experience, he has watched his father battle a few times and very rarely has he watched pokemon battles on TV. He is basically a complete novice, to the point where he will forget what moves his pokemon know.

Knowing his father, he will go down kicking and screaming. Ross has traveled multiple regions training, when compared to Damian who has barely even left Verdanturf town. He will need to experience the same adventure his father has been on, Ross has participated in multiple pokemon tournaments though never winning any he has made it to the top 8 in more than one compeition. The other reasoning behind going on an adventure is trying to find out why exactly he chose being a trainer again over his own family. The curiosity that Damian has makes him really wonder, what exactly does his father love about being a trainer?
