• Appearance: Black hair, gold eyes, light skintone. Fumie is pretty short.
• Personality: Among her fellow students, Fumie is known as a serious and diligent girl who always stays on top of her schoolwork. She's also known for her sharp temper and tendency to become angry at others rather easily. She dislikes being bothered or hung on, and she won't hesitate at all to complain about anyone she feels is behaving in a stupid manner. To put it simply, she isn't one to keep her mouth shut when she sees someone acting like an idiot, at least in her opinion. Additionally, she is also a rather prideful girl, who sometimes takes a rather smug sense of satisfaction in seeing that she was right about something. In spite of her serious nature, Fumie is not entirely without a somewhat sarcastic sense of humor, even if it's mostly born of of frustration at others. As could likely be expected, she's not exactly the most friendly person, but will usually attempt to help the people around her if asked. However, there is another side to Fumie's personality. Fumie is a youkai hunter, one from a long line of those who hunt dangerous creatures that stalk the night and threaten the world of humans. This is a secret she keeps from anyone who is not a member of her family, a duty assigned to her that she carries out with pride. Fumie is entirely dedicated to the work of a youkai hunter, handling it seriously and without hesitation. Still, she absolutely takes pride in her capabilities as well. However... Her ancestry isn't without its negative effects. When utilizing the full extent of her oni blood, Fumie's behavior becomes more erratic and aggressive, and she finds it more difficult to control her actions. Indeed, it is the boiling blood of an oni that causes her to become far more violent then normal. Finally, Fumie is rather easily flustered and embarrassed, and is self-conscious about her small size.
• Abilities: Fumie is a hanyou of oni ancestry. This imparts some basic traits of oni to her body. That is to say, she has greatly enhanced physical strength and speed in spite of her small size, and remarkable durability for someone who appears to be fully human. This isn't to say it's impossible to overpower her or harm her. Even if her oni blood, she is still a small, delicate girl and compared to many other supernatural entities she is hardly the strongest or even particularly impervious to physical harm. However, her speed is quite remarkable for someone partially human. Additionally, Fumie is a trained onmyouji, utilizing her affinity for fire. Her chief spells allow her to produce fiery projectiles, and work in tandem with her katana. Aside from that, she is also somewhat adept in performing purification spells, though anyone dedicated to such onmyodo is going to be far more capable of that area. Finally, Fumie is capable of fully accessing her oni ancestry, obtaining a massive boost to her physical abilities, regenerative capabilities, and an enormous outpouring of fire flowing across her body and blade, her hair turning from black to bright red. At its peak, these flames even manifest as a pair of fiery horns. However, giving herself to her oni blood causes her to become more violent and aggressive, a certain madness overtaking her and making it more difficult for her to control herself.
• Skills: Fumie is quite skilled with a sword for her age, having been trained since she was quite young. Additionally, she is quite apt when it comes to schoolwork. In spite of her size, she does well in PE, though this is likely due to the influence of her oni blood. The most valuable skill in her arsenal, however, is Onikiri, a youkai-killing sword stroke created to slaughter even the most powerful of malevolent youkai.
• Equipment: Fumie wields a katana that is also considered a family heirloom, a weapon that is both extremely sharp and imbued with fire. Hinomaru, as the sword is named, was made with the explicit purpose of slaying youkai. This isn't to say that it can't kill anything aside from youkai, but its very nature is as an anti-youkai existence. Beyond that, Fumie carries numerous ofuda for use in her spells.
• Brief Backstory: Fumie is the daughter of the Midorikawa family, a very old and prestigious family that has existed in Minazawa for the entirety of the town's existence. Dwelling in a very old, expansive Japanese mansion, there are few who would believe that the true nature of the Minazawa is a family of youkai hunters. Indeed, so dedicated to their duty are the Minazawa family that they long ago crossbred with oni, a pact between a specific local clan and the Midorikawa, in order to enhance their capabilities to hunt dangerous creatures that threatened humanity. Fumie is no exception to this fact, herself a hanyou with a high level of oni blood, nearly half. Of course, this isn't immediately apparent by looking at her. Throughout her childhood, she was trained in the art of the sword, and in onmyodo, in order to fashion her into a youkai hunter just as the rest of her bloodline. Due to the illness of her mother and the death of her father, however, she was unexpectedly thrust into active duty as a youkai hunter when she was only thirteen years old. Now in high school, she conducts her duty as secretively as possible, even while her fellow students consider her to be a delicate and doll-like girl.

• Spiritual Predator ~ Male: All Youkai must derive their existences from some form of nourishment. Some live on rumors, others draw energy from the land or specific objects that serve as their tether, and some must steal that energy from a living source. Jorōgumo Youkai fall into this last category, possessing a refined "draining" power that allows them to absorb the spiritual energy of living beings, with a few added caveats. Firstly, although they can drain life through either their own bodies, or through their webs, the efficiency varies based on the method used. Webs can only drain a very small amount of energy slowly over time, they can drain much more quickly via touch, and they can drain fastest of all by ingesting some part of the victim physically. Secondly, their draining is incredibly specialized for absorbing masculine "yang-aspected" energy, meaning that they can feed much more efficiently upon male lifeforms than upon females, or creatures and spirits without a defined gender.
  
  Predatory Youkai perfect this ability as they age, meaning older ones can drain much more energy more quickly. The more energy that is drained, the weaker the victim becomes, and, given enough time, it's perfectly possible for a mature Youkai to kill via this method.
  
  In most cases, actually killing a victim is unnecessary for the purpose of simple sustenance, as simply maintaining their own existences takes much less energy than it takes for a Human to stay alive. However, the more life force a Youkai absorbs above and beyond what is required to survive, the stronger they can become, making it a very tempting prospect.
  
  Oriko, while she has technically lived for hundreds of years, has spent most of that time sealed. As such, she is still a child by Youkai standards, and her ability to drain the spiritual energy of others is incredibly weak. Fortunately, her energy consumption isn't high either, so she can get by with just a little bit of power, and can even subsist for short periods of time on insects and small animals if she can't find a male victim, but she'll probably need to eat a lot more if she wants to grow.
  
  Ability Level: C-

• Enhanced Body/Resistance ~ Male: As beings possessed of a great deal of spiritual energy, many Youkai possess enhanced physical characteristics, such as increased strength and speed, speedy regenerative abilities, or heightened senses and resilience.
  
  As a low-level Youkai, Oriko boasts only slightly enhanced strength and speed. These enhancements are further limited solely to her arachnid features, meaning her humanoid upper body is effectively no different from that of a 16 year old girl. On the other hand, her eight legs possess strength roughly on par with a jackhammer, and allow her to jump to incredible heights, or to demonstrate bursts of tremendous speed comparable to a large land-based predator like a cheetah - although turning is slightly difficult for her. Regardless, while she's not quite supernaturally strong or fast, she's nevertheless pretty impressive by spider standards, and could pose a legitimate threat to any opponent with normal human limitations or vulnerabilities. She's at her best as an ambush-predator, striking unexpectedly to restrain her opponent with her webs, then cripple or skewer them by thrusting her legs like spears.
  
  Additionally, as a Jorōgumo, she possesses some level of innate resistance to damage inflicted upon her by males, and can use spiritual energy she drains to recover quickly from wounds. While normal spiders can amputate up to five limbs and survive, she can regrow even lost limbs over the span of a few days. All her vital organs in her human parts are still beyond her capacity to repair, though...
  
  Ability Level: C+

• Beautiful Temptress: Jorōgumo are capable of exerting some small level of influence on the minds of those they come into contact with. By reversing the draining process and "imprinting" their own essence upon a male's spirit, they can slightly influence that male's thoughts and perceptions to favor them, making it easier for them to seduce their unknowing prey. The victim will begin to subconsciously filter out any aspects of their appearance and behavior that seem unappealing, and focus only on that which he wants to see. Particularly powerful Jorōgumo can even alter a victim's perceptions so much that the victim sees them as a completely different person, such as a loved one, or simply as one's "ideal woman," causing them to abandon their reason and feel blindly compelled to love and adore the Jorōgumo, surrendering their energy willingly, even to the point of death.
  
  ...Unfortunately, Oriko not only has no idea how to actually use this ability properly, but actually uses way too much of her own energy, meaning she's just as likely to make herself seem slightly cuter in the eyes of someone currently in contact with her as she is to actually amplify their perceptions of her negative traits. At this point, the only thing she can consistently manage is to make males selectively oblivious to her six extra spidery legs, even if they slip out from under her skirt. Maybe she'll improve as she gets older...
  
  This ability only works on Males.
  
  Ability Level: F

• Dominion ~ Spider: Jorōgumo possess a limited ability to communicate with and transfer some of their own spiritual energy into beings like themselves. In practice, this allows them to talk to and command lesser spiders to do their bidding by creating a bond similar to that which exists between mages and their familiars. More powerful members of the species can even assert dominance over lesser Spider youkai, even those belonging to other types, such as Tsuchigumo.
  
  Although incapable of controlling anything beyond common arachnids, Oriko is nevertheless capable of communicating with and commanding a veritable army of spider familiars so long as she's close by. However, if she tries to spread too many spiders over too much distance, it becomes a bit too confusing for her to keep track of, and she starts losing connection. It's still great for information gathering, though!
  
  Ability Level: C

• Spirit Weaver ~ Golden: The primary ability at the disposal of any Jorōgumo. Capable of exuding magical spider silk from their bodies, they can shape it at will to take on almost any form or properties as they see fit. This can be used not only to create nests, restrain foes, or the like, but can also be used for much more bizarre and esoteric purposes, such as manipulating things precisely like a marionette, or creating copies of objects by "weaving" them into existence. Many Jorōgumo can even weave perfect disguises that, when worn, make even their unnatural bodies appear like those of ordinary humans, and can even create "invisible silk" that masks the presence of whatever it covers not only from view, but also from some magical methods of detection - similar to the transformative abilities of Kitsune or Tanuki.
  
  This silk generally has a few consistent properties, though - those being that it absorbs any spiritual energy it encounters slowly over time, making it difficult to detect using magic, since it just drains the energy sent towards it, and even more difficult to escape from, as it saps the strength of a victim the longer it remains in contact with them. It's also incredibly durable, and becomes tougher the more energy it drains, making it difficult to break through mundane means.
  
  However, it takes a great deal of energy to create particularly good silk, and it takes a great deal of precision and skill to weave it into particularly complicated forms. For a weak Youkai like Oriko, creating decently strong threads is simple, and she can passably manage more complicated projects like weaving clothing from her silk, or creating her rather shoddy disguise by making her front legs look like those of a human and concealing the other six as best she can. However, creating a large quantity of silk at once, or creating particularly advanced constructs such as an "invisibility cloak" or a full-body disguise is too draining for her without a more consistent source of spiritual energy to power her. Of her powers, however, this ability is without a doubt her most advanced, and the one with which she has the most proficiency.

• Ambush Predator: Acquired over her hundred year life as a spider, Oriko has an instinctive sense of how best to lay traps using her webs to cover large areas without making them easy to see, allowing her to easily lie in wait to ensnare and feast upon an unwitting victim. She can also spread her webs over large areas to efficiently entrap and drain insects and the like, allowing her to feed without ever actually needing to leave her chosen hiding spot, and without drawing attention to herself.

• Weaver: After encountering modern civilization, Oriko has decided to dabble in haute couture, with surprisingly successful results. She's extremely skilled at designing, creating, and repairing clothing even using mundane materials, not even to mention her own silk. To a certain extent, she's also good at discerning the structure or design of existing objects, in order to create passable imitations out of her own silk. However, she's far more adept with cloth in particular than she is with other materials.

• Faker of Innocence: Lacking any kind of real knowledge how the modern world is actually supposed to work, without a territory to call her own, and devoid of any kind of material wealth, Oriko has learned how to best take advantage of her only major resource: looking... vaguely cute. This is to say, she's incredibly good at giving puppy dog eyes when either feigning innocence or begging for something, and has also mastered the fine art of pouting adorably when upset. ...Huh. Maybe there's hope for her, after all.

• Self-Made Clothing: Made by spiders, of spiders, for spiders! Due to being infused with a great deal of her spiritual energy, it's actually a low-level magic item which she can reshape at will, use to constrict her victims like a normal web, and, to a certain extent, alter the physical properties of to make it more durable, conceal her magical energy, or other similar effects. While it's not very powerful due to her current state of weakness - and because even if she can reshape it, she can't change its mass for obvious reasons - it's still a pretty nifty gimmick item.

_Background

Once an ordinary spider, the being who would eventually become known as the Lady Weaver of the Lake, Mizūmi no Oriko, was one of many such creatures which came under the thrall of the man-eating Jorōgumo who lived in Kashikobuchi in Sendai. Although this Youkai's identity has been lost to time, her famous exchange with a crafty priest of "Clever, clever," gave the pool its present name. Although Oriko doesn't consciously remember much of this period of her life, she does know that there was eventually a great battle between her mistress and a force of Onmyouji sent to exterminate her due to the threat she posed. The great youkai was defeated, her essence utterly scattered, and her tribe of spiders dispersed, Oriko included.

Due to the lingering remnants of her mistress' spiritual energy that remained within her, however, her body never began to fail or die, and as she grew older, the power within her also grew. At last, when she had reached 100 years of age, the power within her burst forth, reshaping her into a new being: a Jorōgumo in her own right.

Originally nameless, and with little knowledge of the world, she did as she vaguely recalled her mistress to have done. She built herself a home at the bottom of a small lake close to a town called Minazawa, and there she waited, and she watched. At first, she simply fed upon the insects, creatures, and eventually even the other spirits of the lake. But as these food sources dried up, she found herself hungering for the distant and untasted power of Humans.

Her earliest efforts were rather bizarre, but commendable. She feared the men who had killed her mistress would come for her, too, unless she behaved differently. So, she came up with a different plan. She spoke to the spiders from the nearby village, used their eyes to learn more about the Humans and their ways. She tried to make herself like them, but with little success. She could not hide her monstrous form save with a long gown, and thus could only afford to let herself be seen while sedentary. So, if she could not go to the Humans and walk unknown amongst them, she would have to draw them to herself.

Weaving for herself a tent by the side of the lake, she sat there day and night, weaving clothes like those she had seen the Humans wear. When Humans passed along the road by the lake, she would call to them, and ask them if they wanted clothing. She would trade it for anything curious they happened to possess, and through this method came to learn more of the world. And, when men wore the clothing given to them by the strange girl, little by little, it would drain their energy, so subtly that most did not even notice the change. Her skills improved, and so did the quality of her work. Eventually, word spread in the village of the weaving girl by the lake, and thus, she finally received a name.

Due to the quality of the cloth she created and the fact that she would oftentimes trade fine attire for valueless trinkets and baubles, many people began to seek her out, to take advantage of her naivete. Others came simply to see her, for her beauty was spoken highly of by all the men she encountered as she put her natural talents to good use. However, because of this, it soon became obvious to everyone that the girl by the lake never left her tent, and never stopped weaving - day or night, sun or snow. She was too scared to, because she thought that if she was seen as she really was, then men like those who had killed her mistress would come for her, too. She did not realize how strange this was, and thus, did not even know that she had given herself away.

At some point, a young boy in the village died of a mysterious illness. As it turned out, when he fell ill, he had been wearing a kimono made by the mysterious Oriko. The people's suspicion turned to outright anger, and they blamed her for his death. In truth, not even Oriko herself knows whether or not she was the one who killed him, but that changed nothing. One night, the spiders came to warn her that the people of the village were coming to kill her and burn all her work. Driven by fear, she revealed herself at last, and dove into the lake, hiding within its depths as everything she'd worked so hard to create was put to the torch. Angrily, she lashed out against them, trying to drag them into the water as her mistress had done, but they fled, and she was all alone once again.

The villagers' fear was not settled. They knew she still lived, and thus sent out a call for an experienced Onmyoji to come and purify the spirit that had taken shelter within the lake. Soon, one came, and journeyed to the lake, calling out to her and asking her to speak with him. But she could sense his power, and would neither rise to the surface, nor attack him, and so his efforts ended in failure. He rested, rethought his plan, and returned the next day, bearing gifts of the sort which she had asked for in exchange for the clothing she had made. Unable to contain her curiosity, she at last rose to the surface of the pond, and spoke with him.

He said that he was not there to hurt her, but to make peace. That it had been a mistake, and the villagers were sorry. He praised her, complimenting her on her beauty, and on her skills as a craftsman. Day after day he returned, telling her stories of the outside world, of the villagers who longed to be forgiven, and of his love for her.

And so it was that the deceiver was deceived, the seducer seduced, and the beguiler beguiled. Oriko made the greatest mistake of her life... and fell in love. She emerged from her lake at his request, only to find herself trapped inside a seal of his creation. She begged, she pleaded, she cursed, and she raged, but it was all for naught. Her essence was scattered, rendered dormant, and sealed within a charm which he cast back into the lake to remain until the end of time. There she thought about his words, and about her own foolishness, for almost 200 years.

"One would think that you, of all beings, should know better than to trust the flowered words of those who claim to love."

However, now, two centuries later, something has happened. By some means of which she knows not what, the seal binding her was broken, and her essence was released. She emerged once more from her lake to find the world a greatly changed place... and the story of her own ignominious life nothing more than a fairy tale.

But she was hungry, both for energy to sustain her weakened spirit, and for power - power that would make all humans trust and adore her, just as she had once foolishly trusted and adored. And then, she would... She would...

To be honest, she didn't know what she'd do, and quickly forgot her original reasons entirely. As it turned out, nobody believed in Youkai anymore, so she could basically do what she wanted and live as she pleased! Besides, as it turned out, Human civilization was now even more fun than it had been 200 years ago, and she was eager to catch up on everything she'd missed.

...What, you actually believed she'd have a serious backstory? Hah. As if! There's no reason a great and powerful Youkai like her would ever get worked up about something so stupid as an old crush, idiot!

No reason at all why those words would still mean anything... anything at all. Definitely none.

"Whatever, I'm hungry. I wonder if there's anyone tasty around here...?"

The kind of person who always has food on the mind. Fond of playing pranks and human forms of entertainment, usually video games or making fun of people on the internet, although she prefers to call it the world wide web. Likes living in dark, cramped spaces which she can easily cover with webs. Besides, too much light hurts her eyes, and she sunburns easily after spending 200 years sealed away. Tends to trip when walking on just her "human" legs, since she's still not used to being a biped. She can easily be convinced to do things if sufficiently flattered and/or bribed. However, if she finds out she was manipulated, she'll probably tie you up, write a bunch of insults on your face, and beat the crap out of you.

Hates people who think they're smarter than her, even - no, especially - if they actually are. She's particularly fond of responding to being tricked with the phrase "Clever, clever!" given in mock-praise as if speaking to a child, so as to put down whoever deceived her. ...Wait a second, she's just ripping off her old mistress' catchphrase! At least be original, damnit!

Appearance:
Personality: Sylvie has been around a long time and one thing that she hasn't been was consistent with her own personality. On the surface she has adapted her mannerisms to match up with the culture of the times but beneath that she is always a caring and compassionate person. With every incarnation she has become adept at altering her mannerisms to prevent being recognized. Sylvie works hard to keep herself up to date and by now is a gifted actress. Currently she prefers a more calm and detached demeanour.

By necessity she considers herself to be a separate person from other copies of herself, consciously avoiding considering whether or not she is the 'real one' by deciding that all of them are as real as any other, and have their own lives that she will not waste frivolously. Far from seeing them as disposable tools, she views that as being her own family, her own sisters and daughters.

Despite best efforts, she feels remorse when copying the consciousness of her primary body, referred to as her Alpha, into another, effectively overwriting the other personality.

Abilities:
With an affinity for Life, Sylvie is a gifted healer, considering herself a fleshsmith that can form and fix flesh with remarkable ease. She has lived a long life to practice her art, refining it over many iterations. THe main body of her work lies in creating Homunculi copies of herself to fall back on in case of her suffering from a serious injury or death.

While the majority share the same apparent age and appearance, there are some variances built into others, such as differing ages or the careful addition of other less human bloodlines. A favourite of hers is a half breed youkai with fox ears and a tail.

Skills:
Fencing - Sylvie leanred fencing when duelling was fashionable in europe, taking a saber as her preferred weapon.

Medical Knowledge - She posesses in depth knowledge of human biology, necessary for her work.

Equipment: On her person Sylvie carries little aside from some raw materials to use in her magic. These supplies car be used for major minor healing up to the loss of a limb. Often she may also carry a duelling saber.

In property she has amassed a large but discrete number of real estate holdings, more than half of which house at least a small lab in order to keep her spare bodies distributed and more closely available wherever she is.

Brief Backstory:
Sylvie(Last name varies) has been around a very long time. Her first forays into crafting her own immortality came during the middle of her first life but true success came much later as her health and strength began to fail. With that success they new copy, holding the lifetime of memories of the original but wholly its own being had the misfortune to bear witness to the decline and eventual death of the original. Sylvie vowed never to go through such a thing again. Successive copies have all been created perfect, unaffected by age. Any deaths suffered by them must come from violent means, typically out of sight from the next backup.

In more recent history she has decided to continue travelling the world, immersing herself in other cultures and events. With the world constantly evolving and travel being so easy she makes the most of her potentially endless life by experiencing as much as she can. Currently she is posing as the owner of the Nine Tails Cafe in Minazawa.

• Appearance: Itona stands at 167.64 centimeters (or 5'6"), and is of an average build. However, his usual level of activity (read: next to nothing outside of school) means that he lacks any visible muscle tone.
• Personality: While Itona is outwardly quiet and polite, his behavior with friends and family is quite different. In those events, he can be described best as "sarcastic, lazy, and keeping his head in the clouds when he isn't glued to his media of choice". While extremely intelligent, he has two things that counteract this: his aforementioned laziness, and about as much common sense as a bag of hammers. While not superstitious, he's receptive to the idea of monsters, ghosts, aliens, espers, and time travelers; in the same vein, he isn't particularly religious, but believes in God. Oh, and he won't say it, but he has mild arachnophobia. And by "mild," it means his idea of getting a spider out of his shower is tossing a live grenade in and cleaning up the mess later (or someone else, if he has his way).

  His mother went back to work, and Itona himself descended deeper and deeper into his own little world, becoming more jaded and cynical with each passing month. Now doing occasional part-time work, Itona only leaves the house when necessary and has a tendency to put the bare minimum of effort into anything outside of his hobbies and occasionly school. The one exception is during full moons, when he can't sleep. So he goes out for walks, avoiding shadier areas, and returns without anyone knowing.

Weiland Voss

• Name: Weiland Voss
• Age: 25

• Personality: Almost always wearing a mildly pleasant expression, Weiland almost never wears his true feelings or thoughts openly, far too used to keeping such things suppressed on orders from his family. In his day to day, he tends to hide any of his real emotions or reactions behind a facade of humor and mockery, being the first to call someone out or make a joke out of a situation. While mockery and jest are his typical face and coping mechanism, with just a dash of appearing to be oblivious, he tends to keep a very, very close eye on his surroundings and occurrences within his ability to detect. Underneath the flippant and jesting mentality is someone with a very analytic, very focused mind. When on a task he actually cares to do, he becomes hyperfocused to a degree that he often needs reminded, either by Ermendrud or, more commonly, one of his peers.
  
  Weiland typically cannot be bothered to focus that much on just anything, so he tends to slack around, feet kicked up, relaxing and observing. He tends to look for ways to antagonize and prod at those around him, filing such things away for when he needs, or wants, to use them. While he doesn't typically manipulate for gain, he does it mostly for his own amusement. Seeing how people react and act when being prodded and pushed is a guilty pleasure of his, and it doesn't help that Ermendrud enables him by encouraging such behavior. Even so, he does know where the line is typically, but sometimes he crosses it, just to gather information and see how people react.
• Abilities: The Voss family is a very old, very established blood line within Germany, and their only son has inherited the same Affinity that has been a staple of their family, that of Light. While not necessarily the most useful of Affinities in regards to raw offensive potential, with exceptions, he is very capable of various utilities and tricks. His go to for offensive power tends to be focusing light into high powered beams of light, laser beams effectively, though he also can refract light around him to render himself invisible, blind people with blasts of focused light, maintain orbs to keep light in areas to allow better vision, and the like. He has a great deal of practice hiding his presence, via bent light, though this is completely useless against tracking that doesn't rely on visual confirmation, while the laser beams can work well against most targets.
  
  Notably, Weiland, much like his family, lacks any sort of Magic Trait. However, the family instead had, in its early generations, established a contract in blood with their Hamingja, a guardian spirit of sorts that was responsible for luck and happiness of her charge, that bound the spirit to their family for all time. In return for this, it allowed Ermendrud, the name of the spirit, to be anchored to the world in such a way that her charges could call upon her outside of prayers and offerings for her passive assistance in their fortune and well being. The spirit herself has a great deal of knowledge, accumulated over the countless millennia. Ermendrud is a whimsical spirit, fitting as her domain is fortune first and foremost, typically chattering and speaking to Weiland, though no one else can hear such chatter. When manifested, she typically appears in an aquatic form, much preferring it over a more traditional look. Otherwise, while not manifested, her aura overrides Weiland's own, protecting him from being read by anyone capable of seeing and viewing auras.
• Skills: Weiland is actually a fairly accomplished unarmed fighter, having been learning from his bodyguard growing up, and continuing to practice and implement such activities. He employs a mix of formal martial arts and brawling, taking useful techniques from both to help make up for the fact he is just a human, magi abilities put aside. Besides this, he is a fairly accurate shot, be it with sidearms or thrown items, though nowhere near as impressive as his unarmed abilities.
• Equipment: Besides a small set of tools for engraving that tend to never leave the apartment he stays at, the only notable item that Weiland has is a graduation gift from his father, a pair of brass knuckles that were blessed, each knuckle having a small cross engraved on it.
• Brief Backstory: The Voss bloodline is far older than the country that they have based themselves in, though they are not quick to brag or confirm such things. Weiland is the only son of the family, and that means living with the entire expectations of the family on his shoulders. The main options he had to temporarily escape such pressure was training with his bodyguard, and older man who taught him everything he knew about hand to hand fighting, and Ermendrud, the Hamingja bound to his family's bloodline. Every first born would find the spirit transferred to them once they were old enough, usually around five or six years old, and Weiland was no different. Growing up, he did not depart for the Tower in London to train, like his family would have preferred, choosing to stay in Germany to train in his magic. This allowed his father to continue tutoring him in the more subtle arts in the Light affinity, though once he was old enough, and finished his main training and schooling in Germany, it was decided he needed to travel abroad for further experience. With Ermendrud protecting and guiding Weiland, it wasn't seen as anywhere near as unsafe as it could be.
  
  Weiland didn't initially end up in Japan, wandering most of Europe first and foremost, spending several years after his 18th birthday exploring and practicing further. He would eventually settle down in Japan when he was 23 years old, and would spend the most time he ever did in one place, his wanderlust never seeming to trigger again and drive him to leave and move on to other places. Weiland couldn't peg the why as to why he didn't leave already, but he did odd jobs and the like when he felt the need, mostly to keep himself busy since his family kept him well supplied while he traveled and studied in various places.

Lunar Informant

• Name: Minamoto no Soushi
• Age: Her name certainly dates back to the Heian Period and Soushi is quite clear that she's been around since the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter... which is about as close an age as you're going to get from her.
• Gender: Female
• Race: Moon Rabbit. Technically a type of youkai, but she'd be quite offended to be lumped in with the rest of them.
• Appearance: Quite done with dressing in traditional clothing, thank you.
• Personality: Polite and demure, it's easy to underestimate how much Soushi observes and how persistent she can be in the face of adversity--quite unlike the normal animal that she resembles. Her most notable quirk is a habit of treating everyone else like a child to some extent or another, save for a few lunar inhabitants, even if they're a centuries old oni. On the plus side, this seems to extend to offering any and all visitors plenty of sweets on top of other food and drink.
• Abilities: As a moon rabbit, Soushi has two natural abilities: the ability to form illusions, and the ability to speak with rabbits. Of course, she's very good with the former--having had years to work with it--and can do far more than the common "make someone see something that isn't there." Whilst looking into her eyes is the easiest way for her to manipulate any of someone's senses for long periods of time, she's capable of influencing people simply from seeing her, or keying the illusion to a particular item--which is handy if, for instance, you aren't aware of exactly how many people are around. They're particularly strong illusions; knowing of their falseness won't dispell them even if they can be ignored, and illusory pain is no less incapacitating than actual pain.
  As an expert of applying illusions, it's not surprising that she's nearly impossible to place one on, and detecting light-based illusions is comparatively easy for her. As is magically breaking them.
• Skills: Do you need gardening, someone good at ceremonies and court protocol, or a supply of information? If yes, then Soushi's a good source--either because it's something that the moon rabbit herself knows (which is more often the case with simple knowledge) or because she probably has some way of finding out, so long as you can sufficiently persuade her. It should be noted that she is completely hopeless in fighting should her illusions fail.
• Equipment: She has a house/office, all nicely furnished. It's also full of strangely well-behaved and fearless rabbits.
• Brief Backstory: Like other moon rabbits, Soushi is on Earth to gather information--though that was far from her original purpose in being here. Instead, she was one of those rabbits to accompany Princess Kaguya in what would go on to develop into the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. However, when the princess returned to the moon, not all of her entourage did--Soushi, for one, ended up being part of the nobility in those periods, even getting married but generally concealing that she was a moon rabbit. Courts, of course, were the place to gather more information, and she's quite glad that such things no longer need to be done.
  With the development of more advanced communication methods and changes in society, the rabbit has been quite happy to independently supply any and all information that she can get her hands on, as well as passing it onto the moon. Though her primary role is to gather information, she also works as a point of first contact when new rabbits are sent: very few have the experience that she does (nor the wealth) to help with such a thing.

Haccho Takumi

Tall and lanky, Haccho stands in at 6 feet or about 183 cm in height, giving him a bit of height over many Japanese folk. He has a sinewy build and his long dark hair is typically pulled back behind his head. Along with the stubble around his face, Haccho often looks less like an investigator and more like a typical Japanese rocker- and his lazy and easygoing personality does little to assuage those assumptions. In terms of dress, Haccho is fairly set in his own fashion sense, from high end casual to well fitted suits.
Personality:
Casually confident, Haccho carries himself with a sort of calm bravado and rarely breaks this character. Outgoing, yet not brash and outspoken, Haccho's generally cheerful and light-hearted disposition is of one who is rather confident in himself and his abilities. While casually boastful of his own abilities, he isn't afraid to acknowledge his own shortcomings, though will often spin it around in a manner that sounds better of him. Though relaxed and lazy, Haccho is competent and appreciably professional, and often interacts quite well with women and children, and will casually flirt with others regularly, though rarely shows any inclination to go any further. A generally good natured man, Haccho is fairly friendly, and talkative, often making sarcastic jokes or face-palm worthy puns even when in the middle of deep shit. Prideful and somewhat cocky, Haccho can be, in short, a bit of an ass- a well meaning ass, but an ass nonetheless.

Abilities:
Haccho is an onmyouji of dark affinity, most of his spells and magical talent revolve around shadows and illusions, giving him an edge in subterfuge. From opening doors not meant to be opened to shrouding himself from view or binding suspects with shadow tags, Haccho's magical spells are printed onto specialized paper tags, allowing him to more easily deploy spells without having to take the time to cast spells. Very few of Haccho's abilities are conducive for combat, and primarily provide him with supportive or situational control. Outside of his spell tags, Haccho possesses an innate magical talent, and has the ability to cast simple charms and telekinetically move smaller objects, such as books, pens, wallets, and coins.

• Magical Trait: Shadow Waltz - For brief moments- typically an amount of seconds, Haccho can take on a shadowy visage, allowing him to phase through walls or danger.

Skills:
While by no means an Olympic athlete, Haccho is no slouch. In good shape for someone his age, Haccho possesses a mental and physical fortitude capable of taking a considerable beating and can hold his own in most situations that are physically taxing, from lifting and moving objects, to chasing down suspects and even fist fights. While not a brawler, Haccho knows his way around a street fight and can be a formidable foe when provoked. Though not a marksman, Haccho is well versed in operating firearms and firearm safety, and can be a decent shot with his sidearm or even a shotgun or rifle.

Equipment:
Haccho always carries a handgun with him in either a shoulder holster or a concealed waist holster at his back. The sidearm is a small, compact pistol, often loaded with silver bullets for use against the supernatural. Along with a few additional magazines of ammunition, Haccho carries a small set of ofuda loaded with pre-written spells.
Brief Backstory:
Born in the heart of Tokyo, Haccho has spent most of his life used to the urban sprawl of the city. Haccho was born the the oldest of two, the son of a doctor and a 'businessman'. The oldest child in a household whose parents weren't around often, Haccho was quick to assume the role of "secondary man of the house" at a young age, to help his parents take care of the family and house. Their family traced back an old line of Onmyouji, and though their father was fairly skilled with his abilities, he didn't put much effort into teaching his sons, not until both of them began to manifest the magical trait which has been dormant in their family for generations. Only when both brothers began manifesting their abilities, did their father begin to bring them into the family business, and introduced him to various other businesspeople that he dealt with- most notably the yakuza.

As a youth Haccho performed well in school and sports alike, excelling in mathematics as well as athletics, though was often disciplined for disrupting class, fighting and arguing with teachers and students- though few people ever really messed with the Yakuza kids. Despite any disciplinary action Haccho might have faced, he nevertheless graduated with honors, and upon graduating from high school was excepted into Tokyo U, where he planned to business.

Things never exactly go as planned, and after a small dispute landed their family in hot water with the local branch of the yakuza. Forced into exile, Haccho and his younger brother fled to Osaka, where Haccho would eventually join the police force.

Sometime later, Haccho and his brother would find themselves in the small, but growing region of Minizawa, to start up their own investigation agency.

Motorcycle Riding Camper-Delinquent with Fists of Steel

Name: Kamogawa Rokkaku
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Human (Delinquent)
Appearance: At the relatively unimposing height of 5’6, Rokkaku doesn’t look like much of a tough guy, his long brown hair and his small eyes making him out more like an unhygienic teen rather than the baddest bad boy in the neighborhood. Then he flexes, and his entire body turns into a monolith of unmoving steel. Then he glares, and the intensity in his dark red eyes could quite possibly cause salarymen to scamper away. And then, one may note the countless scars that riddle Rokkaku’s body, and perhaps they wouldn’t be wrong in believing him to be a yakuza enforcer or a former child soldier. But those are all just outer impressions, the impression of people who don’t know him.

Personality: Not that they’re all that far off. Rokkaku does love the taste of youthful rebellion, and he certainly has no qualms with cracking heads open with his iron fist. His death glare is indeed something that causes lesser men to cower and the yakuza to flinch, while his body is most definitely reaching the apex of physical prowess. His neutral expression is an ‘irritated frown’, while his smile is aggressive and vicious even without meaning to be. Heck, if treated like the delinquent punk he is, Rokkaku’s more than willing to play into their expectations of him, revving up his motorcycle obnoxiously and driving 30mph above the speed limit while throwing the middle finger at the cops.

But the sense of justice in his heart remains strong, and as a red-blooded rebel, he hates bullies, snobs, and assholes that impose their will upon the unwilling, whether through might, mind, or money. He also has no time for bureaucratic bullshit, thinks that sugary sweet girls are all just manipulative Jezebels, and thinks that the best way to get past obstacles is to go STRAIGHT THROUGH. Rokkaku’s the manly dumbass that doesn’t get feelings and emotions and all that icky stuff, but who’s still going to run twice the length of Minagawa and punch a fat, ugly bastard if he catches wind of whatever nefarious plot they’re planning.

Abilities & Skills

Magic Trait ; All Stand Equal Under the Fist of the War God
Though he despises it, the blood of his mother still flows through his veins, and as a scion of the Kamogawa family, Rokkaku holds a Magic Trait that turns his body into a spiritual weapon capable of punching the unpunchable. Whether it be intangible ghosts or magical attacks or conceptual curses, his body is capable of physically interacting with them like any other ordinary object, and thus, he’s capable of smacking them away, tearing them off, or sending them flying with a well-placed uppercut. As long as he can perceive it, Rokkaku can punch it. A nonsense ability that’s perfect for a dumbass, essentially.

It was said that his ancestors were capable of bypassing the concepts of time and space, as well as flat-out ignoring any durability or magical resistance with their punches, but in the modern era, the bloodline of the Kamogawa family has thinned out, and it is unlikely that their Magic Trait will reach the heights it once stood at.

Kamogawa Magic Style ; Iron Flesh Script
Though he’s fairly inept at regular onmyouji, simply because he skipped or slept through all the lessons before basically disowning his entire family and striking it out on his own, Rokkaku still benefits from the Iron Flesh Script that all members of the Kamogawa family go through when they reach thirteen years of age. The countless small scars on his body are actually the same sort of inscription one would find on ofuda, the wounds opened up with a blessed tanto before being filled in with a special mixture of metal dust. Through these marks, Rokkaku is able to channel his mana internally and grant himself varying degrees of superhuman strength, speed, perception, and durability, all dependent on how many marks he decides to activate.

Kamogawa Martial Arts ; Punch ‘em Dead
Once upon a time, Rokkaku earnestly practiced his family’s martial arts, a style of fighting that involved parries, counters, and precision strikes to immobilize one’s opponents before finally unleashing one of the 107 different Certain Kill Techniques that the Martial Art has to finish them off. Unfortunately, Rokkaku now doesn’t care, and just spams those Certain Kill Techniques all the time, until they’ve regresses from legendary secret arts to just a rushdown of regular attacks. Really though, he’s not all that skillful. He’s just hard-headed.

Riding B+ ; Ride or Die
Rokkaku rides a motorcycle. He likes his motorcycle a lot. He knows how to fix it up and he rates it as one of his top 3 worldly possessions. Though he’s capable of outrunning his motorcycle, the sensation of gliding through long, empty roads simply can’t be captured when you’re covering 500 ft per step. And though one may argue that effort does not always equate results, Rokkaku is still a skilled rider, capable of pulling off dangerous feats without dying or crashing.

Camping Boi ; Cheaper than Apartment Rent
Rokkaku likes camping. Or maybe he doesn’t, but it’s way easier to camp in a park rather than having to convince a landlord that yes, he is definitely capable of paying off the monthly rent, and no, he won’t use this room as a party room for his hypothetical delinquent friends. Though it doesn’t really do wonders for his hygiene, public baths exist and this camping delinquent enjoys the buzz of nature more than the convenience of a room, after all. And isn’t it totally wild and rebellious, living in forests and mountains when there’s ‘No Camping’ signs? Hell yeah it is!

Equipment: Rokkaku has three sets of clothing, a wallet, a first aid kit that he doesn’t use all that often, a can of tuna in case he meets a stray cat, his motorcycle, his sleeping bag, and his all-season tent. Travel light, and you’ll never have to complain about sore shoulders.

Brief Backstory: The Kamogawa family owns a shrine on the mountain while moonlighting as youkai exterminators. The eldest son, Rokkaku was supposed to succeed the family in that regard, but while he enjoyed all the lessons in how to punch youkai dead as a child, as he grew up, he realized he didn’t care for being a mercenary or a hitman or whatever. No, what he wanted was adventure, and, with the confidence that facing off monsters gave him, Rokkaku got into a big, nasty argument with his mom and promptly left the home, permanently borrowing his dad’s motorcycle while he was at it.

Riding far, far east, the dumbass delinquent eventually ran out of New Year’s allowance for gyudon and settled down in the city of Minagawa to find part-time work and stock up on more money for his next trip. Apparently, his rebellious attitude was totally ‘rock’ in the eyes of the owner of Live House Thunderblood, located on the western side of Downtown Minagawa, and that’s where Rokkaku occasionally works now, as the surly security dude that’s there to throw disruptive punks out during live events.

It works out, anyways, as long as no police officers ask why such a young lad is out and about during school hours.

Personality: Alesandro can be a rather serious man at times, but despite this, he is generally a very polite and reasonable guy. Morality for him, while definitely important, tends to be rather flexible and bendable depending on the circumstances. His attitude towards life is more “where the wind takes me” than anything and has a love for adventure and adrenaline. In fact, someone could even call him a tad bit of an adrenaline junkie, though not to insane levels. Boredom just isn’t something he particular likes is all. He has quite the “seen it all, cool with learning more” demeanor and actually is casual with interacting with the abnormal world around him.

Nagi, on the other hand, is one of the most playful ghosts a person could ever come across. Playing pranks on others, teasing people for a bit of comedy, and seeing how “x makes y do z” are some of her favorite pastimes. However, she isn’t a sadist and does understand that there’s limits to what she should do to others. That being said, the careful line between “prank” and “annoying” can be tricky for her at times. Ironically, despite her jokey personality, annoying her isn’t all that hard either if you know her buttons. She’s on to keep quite the grudge, however, and will only really drop it if the situation is too important for her to keep holding onto it. She’s also quite the history buff due to the souls within her.

Abilities: Alesandro, by himself, doesn’t exactly have a lot of magical prowess. While he does know a few spells and can cast average-level incantations, he can’t do anything really big or powerful like most could, let alone for as long. To compensate, he goes with more down-to-earth methods and external magical tools to assist him, such as natural magical staves and literal spellswords. Instead, any real “abilities” come from Nagi. Unpossessed, he can summon her large skeletal body parts to assist him and, if they’re the arms, can even swing large flaming weaponry when using it. To expand a bit more energy, he can even summon the entire top half of the gashadokuro, but he remains in place and the skeleton itself is rather slow moving overall. He also can’t keep the spirit’s powers going for very long when the whole skeleton is summoned. Limbs, on the other hand, can more quickly come out, for surprise blows or even blocking. However, if they are too severely damaged or severed, he can’t summon them again for a time and even feels the pain in the corresponding limb.

When possessed, that’s when Alesandro becomes a more magical danger. Since Nagi is in control at that time, she gains abilities that either she or the other dead had. Her swordsmanship is downright terrifyingly good and she’s able to turn average sharp tools into sharp Japanese weapons, such as making knives into katanas. They’re also can be ignited with a blue spiritual flame that increases their attack range, though it only allows it to cut or pierce better instead of really burning anything. Weapons can even be made with just the fire, but it will dissipate a few minutes after being made. Her reaction time is also superb and she’s surprisingly agile, though not necessarily fast. Keep in mind though. Nagi is in control she’s only able to do things she knows. Also, Alesandro can speak a variety of languages, including Japanese, due to Nagi being a somewhat “mental translator,” at least for the languages she knows.

Skills: If a person can’t really use magic when they’re meddling in the business of the supernatural, what do they do? For this man, it means using whatever they can get their hands on and use their wits on. This includes knives, daggers, and guns to help himself out, usually preferring lightweight stuff so he can still move quickly. He’s also rather good at parkour due to his different bouts in life and, surprisingly, is good at blacksmithing. Resourcefulness is something he prides himself on, too. He can take a beating, but remember that he is still human and overall is still limited like a human would be.

Equipment: Alesandro has an assortment of weapons at his disposable. In terms of regular weaponry, he brought a pistol, a rifle, 2 knives, and about 3 flashbangs. Obviously, he doesn’t carry all of these things at the same time, mostly not to shatter his spine, and usually has to choose what to bring with him. He also has a decently sized assortment of supernatural tools, such as a functional Ouija board, a low power wand that spews out fire spells, a mid power wand that uses water spells, and healing potions. Rope is also something he tends to carry cause, well, there isn’t many situations he knows of where he doesn’t need rope.

Brief Backstory:Remember that one kid that would always go on adventures when they were left alone for as much as twenty seconds, going all Rugrats? That one that could give an babysitter the worst near-heart attack of their life. Well, that would sum up Alesandro’s childhood pretty well. He constantly looked for things to do and had his imagination make the fun parts for him. When it turned out those tales of magic and tomb exploring could actually be real, of course he was going to pursue it. By the time he was 17, the world of magic became his reality and exploring it was his life. Despite parental fear, ironically the people who made him aware in the first place, he couldn’t be stopped. Time and time again, he swung from ropes, stealing ancient riches from criminals and learning magical knowledge in the depths of danger. Of course, here and there he had to get dirty but good God the ruins and rhymes he learned were worth the pain.

If people knew who he was, they remembered and feared or awed at the “Elegant Splunker.” He always hated that people called him that, but hey, good to be remembered? Some wish they could be remembered after all, as he soon learned. As he tried getting a treasure that was believed to be from the Japanese Feudal Period, or some closeby era, he found himself cornered. A wall and approaching gunsmen down the long hallway. With how low on equipment the man was, it seemed like this was the final journey. He looked at the treasure, covered in robes, as he decided to unwrap it, the one action he was warned not to do. It was a red skeletal arm. In seconds, a red haired see-through girl popped out from the arm. And not long after, the gunsmen came. With a twist of her head, 180 degrees to be exact, all of them shrieked as they ran off, yelling “Gashadokuro! She has come!” the whole way. They both shrugged as he carried the arm back to the exit, grumbling that that was way less satisfying a rescue than he was hoping.

The two soon tried getting acquainted with each other, though it was a bit one-sided. Alesandro was an easy enough explanation, but the girl, Raisha Shinagi, or simply Nagi, was more complicated. Mostly because she had not one past, but multiple. As it turned out, her existence as a gashadokuro infused the past of the dead, most unceremoniously dumped in a mass grave or killed on the battlefield, in her memories. Yet, she knew that she had her own life previously, not just existing as the fused will of the deceased. The problem was figuring out which one she was as none of them looked like her. But she knew her name and it was proof she was alive. That there was a Raisha Shinagi. Surprisingly though, Alesandro was enough of a distraction to not make her too soul-searchy about it. The adventures the two had were always some bizarre fun, especially as they found it she could give him a boost. But curiosity soon came to a head after an old friend of Alesandro’s said he may have a lead on this “Raisha Shinagi” case he asked him a few years back. A small town they called “Minazawa” that might have the answers they were looking for. It was pretty much an immediate decision that they needed to check this out, whether it was her birth town in life or her final resting spot in death. Of course, first came having to stash most of his weapons away due to Japan’s laws towards weaponry. He already had to go through that hassle once, going through it again was not on his plate. With that headache prevented, it was off to Minazawa they would go.
