Welcome to the Voting and Feedback round for TDAC#2!

Voting and Feedback guidelines
  • Once you had a look at all entries you can vote for your favourite work of art, as long as it’s not based on whether or not you like the artist. Remember the theme was Rain
It would be nice if you could share why you voted for a specific work.
  • Giving feedback is optional. When giving feedback you should be respectful and constructive. It’s good to point out what you didn’t like, but don’t be mean.
Make sure to point out what you liked or what worked well too.
  • Contestant may and are encouraged to vote and/or give feedback as long as they don’t vote for their own entry. If contestants wish to withhold a vote and only give feedback, that is good too.
  • The entries are anonymous unless the artist asked for having their name added. That being said, artists may claim their work at any time during or after the voting period.
  • The entry with the most votes will win, but in case of a tie a Contest Mod will cast the tie-breaker vote.
  • You can vote for entries and post your feedback in this thread, but if you rather have your vote and/or feedback be anonymous you can PM it to @Calle.
  • The voting period deadline is December 7th, 9:00 CET, which is 8:00 game time (both times are in a.m.).

Here is my feedback on the pieces:

PuhpuhpuhPEACE- I have an audible chuckle when opened the hider and saw your piece. It’s cute, a bit silly and a great reminder that there can be a positive thing with rain.

Rainy Ocean- I got chills when I looked at yours. It feels a but ominous with how vast the ocean is and dark it is. Having both the rain and ocean was a great combo.

Figure in the rain- Your piece leaves me with a lot of questions which I think fits well with what you were aiming for. Having no added color feels like a good choice which added to the mystery.

Rainy clown- The eyes on the clown and cloud really drew me in. The red and yellow you used throughout your work was a great addition.

It was a close one for me but my vote would be for PuhpuhpuhPEACE for making me laugh.

I vote for Rainy Ocean.

I opened each hider and looked at the pieces. When I opened Rainy Ocean my intial reaction was: wow!

The others were good, nice and cute but didn't stand out like Rainy Ocean and didn't have that wow-factor for me.

Well done everyone, looking forward to see more art in upcoming contests.

I absolutely adore the Rainy Clown, so my own vote goes to that one!

What a lovely colour palette that you used, @Myling and good on you for getting involved!

I really love all the pieces for this contest, they're all such different takes on the prompt. I'm sad I didn't get the time to enter my own idea.

Thanks to @Calle again for hosting :)

I'm having a really hard time choosing between rainy ocean and rainy clown. They're both such wildly different pieces. I think I'm going to give it to rainy ocean though. It's simple, but I like the execution, and it's the cleanest entry of the bunch.

Wow, there is a lot of creativity here! All of these pieces have a unique style to them and each of them provoke different emotions. It is quite clear that these artists put in a lot of their time to generate these pieces.

PuhpuhpuhPEACE portrays a caricature of a smiling rainbow. Such personality in that little grin! It does not look like this bundle of joy would let anything bring down its mood even on the cloudiest of days.

Rainy Ocean brings me a sense of cold isolation and loneliness. These obscure waters are vast and unforgiving without any end in sight. This has been quite a common theme for many of us this year.

Figure in the rain is quite mysterious. This unknown shadow is alone and concealed in the heavy weather. We cannot see their face, yet it almost feels like they are judging us, as if they know who they are looking at through the same blanket of rain.

Rainy Cloud is created with such a fun, playful pallet of colors. The cloud’s pouting expression is one we might assume or like to see painted for a sad clown. No matter, the clown’s buck toothed grin tells us that they are having a rather good time beneath their polkadot umbrella. The friendly-yellow sweater even brings a sense of happiness to this composition.

The voting deadline is over. We have 5 votes and a tie.

First off: thank you participants, for joining the competition and submitting a diverse set of entries. And thank you voters, because this wouldn't have been a competition if you wouldn't have taken the time to vote for your favourite entry, and your kind words about the entries are undoubtedly appreciated by the artists.

Moving on to the results:

Rainy Ocean and Rainy Cloud both have 2 votes, which means that for the first time since I started with this I will add a tie-breaker vote. And it is a difficult decision because both are good pieces for different reasons.

With 3 votes the winner of this competition will be: Rainy Ocean!
I liked the desolate feeling it gave me and it's a piece I can just keep looking at.

The well-deserved runner-up is Rainy Cloud, with the happiness and sadness, and the lovely use of colours. Honestly, you did a great job.

In January there will be a new Art Contest. I hope to see you all again, and maybe we'll even get a few more involved.
