THE STORY

As the title implies, in this RP we will be playing as the Justice League, the greatest heroes the world has ever known. This is not meant to be an origin story. The League will already be established and will operate out of their orbital satellite base, the Watchtower. Each player will either take on an iconic member of the team, or may create their own original superhero. If you choose the latter, I encourage you to try and integrate your new character into the lore of the DC Universe. Maybe your character hails from Atlantis, or was trained by the League of Assassins, or was chosen as a member of the Green Lantern Corps. You get the idea.

In our first adventure, the Justice League will battle against the forces of Brainiac, the Preserver of Worlds. For those of you unfamiliar with his work, Brainiac is a super intelligent android whose claim to fame is shrinking the Kryptonian city of Kandor and collecting it in a bottle. The bottled city of Kandor is a relic of a doomed civilization, and Brainiac has visited countless planets to expand his collection of such relics. His sights are now set on planet Earth, and he aims to collect one of the Earth's greatest cities. This city will serve as a relic of humanity, a civilization destined to destroy itself. The story will begin with Brainiac sending his probe droids to scout various cities on Earth, and will escalate into a full scale alien invasion.

Earth's problems are not just limited to extraterrestrial invaders however. Recently, tensions have escalated between the United States of America and the middle eastern nation of Kahndaq, ruled by the tyrannical dictator Asim Muhunnad. Lex Luthor is lobbying for United States military intervention in Kahndaq, as his company, LexCorp, has weapons manufacturing contracts with the U.S military. For Lex Luthor, war is what's best for business. LexCorp is also secretly developing super weapons for the U.S military to use against the Justice League, as a fail safe in the event of the League going rogue. While today the Justice League may serve as protectors, it is feared that one day they could become rulers.

THE RULES

Nothing out of the ordinary here, just adhere to the standards of casual roleplay. No one-liners, use proper spelling and grammar. We may be playing as god-like characters, but obviously god modding still isn't cool. If you are playing as an iconic member of the League, make sure it's a character you are familiar with and make sure that you stick to the core aspects of their character. So don't have Batman pull out a gun and start lightning people up.

Like I said there are many different incarnations of these superheroes, so it's important to know which one we're dealing with. Are you a young Batman, or an older, more experienced Batman? Is the Flash an eligible bachelor, or is he married? Is Aquaman a respectable hero, or is he still a joke? We need to know these things.

Superhero Name: Aquaman

Civilian Identity: Arthur Curry/Orin

Powers and Abilities: Water adapted physiology grants him superhuman strength, endurance, durability, reflexes, agility, healing and senses. Enhanced swimming speed. Marine telepathy that grants the ability to communicate with sea life. Able to speak and understand any language on earth thanks to telepathic abilities.

Exceptional martial artist, having been trained in Atlantean combat techniques, and trained with the Justice League. Has mastered both unarmed fighting and the use of his Trident in combat. Natural leadership abilities, as well as a mind for tactics, strategy, politics and statecraft. Atlantean royalty, which grants him diplomatic immunity while on land.
Weapon of choice is his Trident (crafted by the first king of Atlantis) It's indestructible, and able to hurt even the toughest of opponents, or cut through the sturdiest of barriers. Said to be the most powerful among a set of Atlantean weapons, Aquaman is always carrying it with him as a symbol of his authority and a deadly weapon if the need arises.

Biography: Born Arthur Curry to an American human lighthouse keeper of Amnesty Bay named Tom Curry and an Atlanna, of the Royal family of Atlantis, Aquaman has long struggled with his mixed origins. Tom was forced to raise his son alone as Atlanna left the family to sit the throne of Atlantis when the Arthur was still a babe. Although he always knew who his mother was and of the responsibilities of that necessitated her leaving him, it still hurt Arthur that she had abandoned him.

As he grew, so to did his powers. Tom, though he loved his son dearly, was ill equipped to handle this situation, so he called in an expert. Dr Stephen Shin was one of the world premier marine biologists, but had been discredited after real easing a thesis on the supposed existence of an underwater kingdom named Atlantis. Shin was ecstatic when Tom introduced him to his son. Arthur was living proof of Atlantis. Although the Dr helped the Curry's he was also gathering intel to prove his previous statements.

Arthur's world is turned upside down when his father is attacked and killed by a mystery assailant. Days later, almost before he has even had a chance to grieve, Shin reveals his research on Arthur to the world. The media instantly begin to humiliate Arthur, sarcastically calling him 'Aquaman' in reference to what they see as his useless powers. Arthur, hurt and betrayed by the surface world after these events, abandons it. He enters the seas, intending to find Atlantis.

Years later he resurfaces, a changed man. Now king of Atlantis, he joins several other heroes to repulse the forces of Darkseid and form the iteration of the Justice League.

While a celebrated hero in his own right Aquaman still finds himself the butt of many jokes. While he tries not to let other people's small mindedness bother him he does occasionally find the lack of respect irksome and insulting, especially after all the good he tries to do.

shape-shifting: Walter has the ability to alter his molecules and cellular structure which allows him transform into pretty much anything he can think of, this includes both animate and inanimate objects. When he transforms into things that normally are not alive, he can still talk and move as if it is alive, for example if Walter was to change into a sandwich then he would still be able to see, hear, and talk as if the sandwich was alive. he also not limited to real things, he loves shape-shifting into fictional characters but doesn't have any of their abilities. when he needs to get somewhere fast, Walt transforms into vehicles and sometimes even missiles and rockets to increase the speed of his traveling. his shape-shifting abilities also allows him to partially transform his body and gain power from the partial transformation such as turning his skin into extremely dense metals, and making himself very gooey to protect him from fatal attacks, he can sometimes even push the limit by turning his body density into air. He can also alter the size of the things he changes into, but he does have a limit on the maximum size of the transformation, the biggest he can have his transformation is the size of a sauropod dinosaur.

Biography: Walt was a boy who grew up on hilarious cartoons such as the Loony Tunes, Disney shorts and Tom&Jerry. His childhood was spent mostly buy thinking up many ideas for cartoons that he planned to create when he was older. At one point during his high school junior year, Walt went on a school trip to a cartoon studio and he was fascinated at witnessing the process of crafting cartoons. The people at the studio showed them a special type ink that was made from a combination of chemicals. The weather soon started to change and a thunderstorm started up. While Walter was holding a bottle of the special ink, a lightning bolt went through the window and the bottle. Walt was hit by a huge amount of electricity and the chemicals in the ink slashed onto him, altering his body's cells and molecular structure. The next thing he knew, he awoke in a hospital and was told that it was a miracle that he was still alive and not permanently injured. After he was let out of the hospital, he soon discovered that he had the ability to shapeshift into all sorts of things. Not too long afterwards, he decided to become a costumed crime fighter and took the name Shifter. His heroic exploits eventually had become a sidekick to the hero Animal Man, although his goofy personality can be annoying to his mentor. After about several years of doing heroics with Animal Man, Walt decided to became a hero of his own and joined the Justice League to become a great asset to saving the world.

• Superhero Name: Green Lantern
• Civilian Identity: Eilidh MacLeod
• Appearance: Kind of crappy, but oh well. She's... Short, at about 150cm/4'11".

• Powers and Abilities: As a member of the Green Lantern Corps, Eilidh is equipped with a Power Ring. With this, she is able to produce hardlight constructs limited only by her imagination, as well as fly and fire energy blasts. The ring also works as a universal translator, allowing her to understand all known languages as well as translating anything she says. However, despite having undergone basic training on Oa, Eilidh has yet to realise the full potential of the ring's powers; she currently limits herself to rather simple constructs when her imagination makes her capable of so much more if only she would realise the ring was actually capable of making more complex structures. The ring must be recharged every 24 hours, otherwise it will be rendered little more than a piece of costume jewelry until such time that it is charged again. Having been selected as a member of the Corps, Eilidh is naturally almost superhumanly brave and possesses immense willpower. She is somewhat skilled in both armed and unarmed combat, but her technique is unrefined as she simply learned it on the street and has had no formal martial arts training.

• Personality: Hot tempered, aggressive and almost perpetually angry. It's as though she has far too much anger to properly contain in such a small body, causing it to spill out at random intervals. She's not a bad person, though; she genuinely wishes to help uphold the law and, above all, protect the weak. She hates anyone who uses their power to tread on the weak and helpless, and will show no mercy against them. The only thing she hates more than people like that are those who make fun of her size or mistake her for a child sidekick (for reference, she's 19 despite looking about 14 due to how short and underdeveloped she is). Despite her fiery, confrontational nature, once she befriends you you've made a friend for life... Just don't expect her to be polite about it.

• Biography: Once, Eilidh was simply a trainee police officer from the Scottish city of Glasgow. Despite always wanting to become a law enforcer, her temper coupled with the fact that she lived in Glasgow led to her getting into a lot of fights when she was younger; not that she regrets her days as a street punk, though, as she believes it helped her not only hone her aggression towards those who deserved it but taught her not to fear anyone. After all, no matter how big or tough someone was, they all went down eventually. Now entering adulthood, her life changed forever one night when an alien craft crashlanded nearby and called her to the fatally wounded pilot. Revealing himself to be a member of an intergalactic law enforcement agency, with his dying breath he passed on his ring and a strange lantern to the hotheaded young woman, telling her that she would soon be contacted by the Guardians of the Universe who would explain things in more detail.

Soon enough, she got the call, and to her surprise and annoyance was brought to the planet Oa to undergo basic training. After seperating her from the pile of Green Lanterns that she had roughed up whilst looking for a more direct explanation, a towering alien drill instructor named Kilowog explained to her (after she regained consciousness; she was being rather uncooperative before he knocked her out) in more detail what the dying alien had only vaguely mentioned: that she was now part of the Green Lantern Corps, and it was her duty to ensure the safety and uphold the law in Sector 2814. After underdoing the behemoth's hellish training, she not only learned how to use her ring but also developed a kind of vitriolic respect for the drill sergeant. After completing basic training, she was sent back to Earth, where she currently operates as both Green Lantern and as a "special" police officer. She has made no attempt to hide her identity, as whilst other heroes worry about what would happen to their loved ones if their identity was revealed, other heroes don't live in Glasgow; and not even the most insane lunatic would try and start something with Glasgow.

So far so good guys. I'm a huge fan of Aquaman so I'm glad he's found his way onto our team, and Rin I really like what you've done with the new Green Lantern. I also enjoyed Shifter's origin story and I like the idea of a superhero that's basically a cartoon character brought to life. I'll post the Big Blue Boy Scout's CS when I get a chance, and once we have one of two more players I see no reason why we shouldn't start.

Depending on the situation he might be wearing a vest or even a mask. He usually has a vest holster that holds two P99 Handguns along with a series of accessories in his jacket pockets such as: Three 8 round 1911 magazines, His federal agent credentials, a handgun silencer, a piano wire, a cellphone, and two zip ties. He is usually wearing glasses and at times. The agent also conceals a Kimber 1911 which is tucked away in his waistband. There is a gun-less holster strapped to his right thigh, specifically for the concealed handgun. Gerard also wears a necklace that has a small Piece of Jewelry on it

In some situations he will wear a multiwrap mask to help conceal his identity. You can refer to the Watch Dogs Main Character For a good image on what that might look like.

Bio: Gerard was raised like your typical kid, having his times of goofing around and his times of hardcore studying and such. He had a family to love, a best friend who stayed by his side till the end, even had good grades at school. Many business would've killed for him to join their enterprise, but it was when he traded his gift for a badge that startled everyone. At the age of 20, Gerard Lewis became an officer of the law, specifically associated with a precinct in GCPD. Unfortunately, he was one of the very unlucky ones when it came to trouble, and his stubbornness is what got him to loose soo much and become the way he is.

He was a friendly person to almost everyone around him until the a year after he became a police officer. They say that the chances were slim to none for a cop like him to go through what he did, but those moments to him were buried emotionally, the only thing linking him to such events being old police reports. He experienced it all; murder, shootings, even the death of a partner, and over time that rocked his emotions around to the point he started to feel numb. He was planning to quit everything, but it was on a morning in a hospital that everything went a different path.

After wandering the halls in the hospital the man came across a child.. Or the child stepped in his way and looked up at him with a smile. Her name he couldn't recollect, but what she said fueled him up for the rest of his existence. "Excuse me sir... Are you a hero?"' She asked him, catching him by surprise.

"N-no.. Do I look like I am wearing a cape or anything like that?" Was his response, but her final reply was what triggered him...

"Silly officer.. You don't have to wear a badge or a suit or anything like that! It's right here," She said, tapping her chest before continuing. "Right here that proves if you're a good guy.. You just gotta be brave!" After that they continued to talk, heck they talked till the sun dropped and the kid's parents found her talking to him. They quickly went over to guide the child away, apologizing to the officer for her interruption. But before she left, she placed something in his hands, a small flower.

The next year were significantly better with crime dropping and plummeting to the floor, and he soldiered it through with a new found courage, yet he felt something, a presence following him. That feeling would go on for weeks, and in some occasions he caught a mysterious individual nearby observing him. It had been about three years since he worked under a badge, and on new years week, the officer was offered to work upstairs, in the federal district. It came with a catch, he would be joining ARGUS.

A gifted agent, and a gifted killer on command. That was what the government had in mind when Gerard's name came to the table. As a attachment to the ARGUS agency, he pretty much did what was needed to be done in order to accomplish the assignments given to him. To the general eye he was an able investigator and an exceptional member to the agency, but there was another side of him and another side of the government in which he works with.

With access to information and weapons agent Lewis knew a few dark things about the ARGUS, one of those secrets being himself. He was an agent by the books, but when given the order he becomes an assassin willing to take a life away if was necessary. To the federal government, sometimes a body bag is better than a jail cell, that is why they have people like him.

Other information:
Personality: Gerard is not necessarily a guy who follows protocol. He is determined to get the job done through whether it be legal or illegal means that could bring the threat of being charged and arrested. The agent can be laid back or stern and overall serious depending on the task at hand. He can also be reckless, willing to go to extreme bounds to get the task at hand done.

Powers and Abilities

Despite occasional rumors to the contrary, Batman has no superhuman abilities at all. Instead he relies on a lifetime of intense training and discipline to turn his ordinary human abilities into finely honed weapons in his war against evil. He's shaped himself into a paragon of human physical fitness and is capable of pushing the human body to its' limits to accomplish feats no ordinary man could. With training in if not outright mastery of over one hundred fighting styles,Batman is one of the top martial artists on Earth in both armed and unarmed combat. His stealth and infiltration abilities are likewise impressive due to years of experience and extensive training in ninjutsu, while his skill with marksmanship and ranged weapons, especially his batarangs, is uncannily accurate. While not the greatest gymnast humanity has to offer, Batman still remains agile enough to traverse Gotham's rooftops and dodge even superhuman attacks with a level of acrobatic skill and ease that Olympic gymnasts would envy. He has also mastered a variety of practical and exotic physical skills during his training including escape artistry, tracking, vocal mimicry and ventriloquism, slowing down his bodily functions through the use of ancient meditative techniques, sleight-of-hand and stage magic, traditional healing methods and more.

While Batman's physical capabilities are notable, it is his mind that makes him truly effective. He is a genius with knowledge in a staggering variety of fields ranging from quantum physics, robotics and biology to mythology, cryptozoology and the occult. His skills in crime solving and investigation have earned him the moniker of "World's Greatest Detective", and his understanding of psychology and the criminal mind is often combined with stealth and theatrics to spread fear and intimidate his enemies. In a world of beings with power a human like him shouldn't be able to match, Batman relies on knowledge, cunning and inventiveness to give himself an edge. If Batman has any 'superhuman' power, it is his driving and indomitable iron will.

Naturally as Bruce Wayne, he's CEO and majority shareholder of Wayne Enterprises, possessed of considerable financial and social resources. As Batman, he uses these resources and his own intellect to supplement his war on crime with various gadgets and other hi-tech equipment. WayneTech R&D and his own considerable wealth give Batman access to some of the more advanced technology humanity possesses, and Wayne Enterprises is even partially responsible for the construction of the League's Watchtower. Batman carries many of his inventions in his iconic utility belt, though Bruce is known to change its load-out depending on the situation. The belt itself is bio-metrically locked to Bruce Wayne's touch and is extremely difficult to force open with countermeasures including an electric shock if anyone tries for too long. Batman's iconic suit and cowl are similarly locked in the event that he's knocked unconscious, with the addition of tear and knockout-gas sprays. The Batsuit is also surprisingly high-tech for its' appearance, composed of a light and flexible but strong weave of various aramids and para-aramids for fire and heat-resistance, insulation from electricity and protection from conventional harm. To further protect him during combat and make him more effective in a fight, the gloves and boots are reinforced with armor for punching and kicking and the scalloped wrist gauntlets are capable of blocking blades like jitte. The suit's cape provides further protection and is weighted at the end for stunning blows, though all of that is meant as a last line of defense as Bruce generally tries not to get hit since he's still a human being as mortal and vulnerable as any other underneath.

Biography

Bruce Wayne is the son of Thomas and Martha Wayne, famed philanthropists who used their vast family fortune and company to improve the notoriously corrupt and suffering-filled Gotham City. Bruce's life was as happy as it could possibly be in a place like Gotham City, until one cold, fateful winter night when his parents took him to see a Zorro film. On the way home the Waynes were attacked by a mugger, and in the ensuing struggle Bruce's parents were shot dead in front of him when he was just . Traumatized by the random petty act of violence that took his parents from him, Bruce swore he would dedicate his whole life to personally wiping out the evils that destroyed his family. while being raised by his butler Alfred Pennyworth and physician and social worker Leslie Thompkins, young Bruce pushed himself to become the most capable person possible and at 14 he was already traveling the globe in order to study at different universities and train in a variety of disciplines. After many years he returned to Gotham and began his one man war against the forces corrupting the city.

Bruce lacked the fear-and-myth inspiring elements necessary to be truly effective at first, but after a particularly unsuccessful and near-lethal night of crime-fighting, just as he was giving into despair and asked his father what he should do and whether he should continue on his path, a bat crashed through his window. This brought to mind a frightening childhood incident where young Bruce fell into a hidden system of caves underneath the stately family manor and taking it as a sign, Bruce resolved that he would "Become a bat" in order to strike fear into the superstitious and cowardly hearts of criminals. As the Batman, Bruce moved his headquarters into the very same system of caves and established himself as the infamous terror of Gotham's criminal underworld.

Nowadays Batman is well-known even outside of Gotham City and has an unofficial alliance with police commissioner Jim Gordon and the non-corrupt elements of the Gotham City Police Department as well as working as part of the Justice League. While not quite the myth-shrouded figure of vengeance in the night he started out as anymore, years of experience means he's still just as if not more effective at striking fear into the criminal element, whether they have superpowers or not.

Civilian Identity: Clark Kent, also known as Kal-El

Powers and Abilities: Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. By leap tall buildings in a single bound, I mean that he can fly. Also he has heat vision, x-ray vision, near invulnerability, super hearing, and ice breath. Don't forget the ice breath. Superman's Kryptonian physiology allows him to absorb light from our yellow sun, which the source of his immense power. His Achilles' heel is Kryptonite, radioactive pieces of his home planet that render him powerless. Prolonged exposure to Kryptonite radiation is lethal to Superman.

Biography

Although born as Kal-El on the planet Krypton, Clark Kent grew up on a farm in the idyllic town of Smallville. He was raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent, a good-natured couple that instilled in him a strong moral compass and a relentless sense of optimism. Growing up, Clark always knew that he was different, as he developed the incredible powers that would eventually come to define him as Superman. However, his parents urged him to keep his abilities a secret, as they feared how they world would react. After graduating high school, Clark left Smallville and traveled the globe in search of purpose. He returned home on the eve of his 21st birthday and his life was forever changed.

The small spacecraft that brought Clark to Earth as a baby suddenly roared to life, having been dormant for years and stored underneath a barn on the Kent farm. The craft erupted from the barn and flew up into the sky. Clark took flight in pursuit, the spacecraft being the only relic of his home world he had ever known. The ship flew north to the Arctic, as far away from the populated world as possible. When it finally landed, it began to expand and transform, and what was initially a small craft had become a massive fortress.

Upon entering the fortress, Clark was greeted by a hologram projection of his biological father, Jor-El, who told him of his birth name, Kal-El, the fate of his home world, and the nature of his abilities. Jor-El said that he intended for this ship to be a place of refuge for his son, a Fortress of Solitude. Clark asked his father what his purpose was to be on Earth, and Jor-El replied that it was ultimately not for him to decide and that Kal was sent to Earth not by design, but by fate. However, Jor-El also noted that on Krypton, the symbol of the House of El stood for hope, and hope is something that humanity needs.

Clark traveled to Metropolis, the City of Tomorrow, where he took a job as a reporter for the Daily Planet. In Metropolis, Clark began to use his extraordinary powers to help and protect people. He became Superman, the world's first superhero. While his principles and values were derived from his adoptive parents, his costume was inspired by the words or Jor-El. He wore the symbol of the House of El on his chest as an homage to his home world and as a reminder of what he was fighting for on Earth.

Five years have passed since Clark first came to Metropolis, and Superman is now a hero to millions. However, there will always be those who distrust and fear him. One man in particular, Lex Luthor, has been very outspoken in his disapproval of Superman. He believes Superman to be an alien menace that harbors the inevitable doom of humanity. Clark maintains his job at the Daily Planet as a cover for his work a Superman, and only one person aside from his parents know that the two are in fact the same man. That person is Lois Lane, a fellow reporter at the Daily Planet and the love of Clark's life. Lois and Clark have recently moved in together, but Lois is beginning to struggle with the fact that as Superman's girlfriend, she will never have a normal relationship.

Above all, one thing remains clear. Superman will continue to fight the good fight, for the betterment of humanity and the world. Even in the face of adversity, when hope seems lost, Superman will find hope within himself and within the people of this planet. Humanity believes in Superman, and Superman believes in humanity.

We have a severe lack of female members, we could use with someone like wonder woman, hawkgirl, stargirl, zatanna, catwoman(iffy), batgirl, starfire, raven or black canary(heads up with her her and green arrow will be married already in this storyline so if noone is her I will probably mention her in my posts as a side character

I think I had suggested Wondie, Supergirl or an OC Flash, at least... Although I guess we can talk some more about ideas when you wake up. ^^;

It would be nice to have female characters other than Eilidh, though. Although I think that no matter who they were they'd end up as the girly one by default. XD

Hey man, my bio for Supes is longer so don't worry about it. And yes, your Batman is accepted. Also your Bat-bio is open ended enough to allow for a character like Nightwing or Robin to be played by someone else if they wanted to which is good.

As it stands right now, I like the make-up of our team and we definitely have enough players to start. I'll try make the first IC post tomorrow if I can. If other players want to come in and hop on board later that's cool. As far as Wonder Woman is concerned, I have a plan to introduce her in a big way down the road if nobody plays as her for this first story.
