However, I still find it extremely rude to do so and not say something about not wanting o participate or something to say you're out.

Oh yeah, couldn't agree more with that - I think it's just polite to say so if you're no longer interested. I've certainly done that when I've retracted my interest in a game.

I don't roleplay, because there isn't any good interested checks from me. And If I do find one that I like, it will die in a day or two. I go on the Guild, because it's fun and I go on spam to read the topics. You cannot make someone roleplay because your RPs are dead or dying, you're just want more people to join your RPs to make it last longer.

If I gave reasons on why I wanted to drop out of RPs, then I will be hated by anyone on the site because I will tell that the truth (which could be that they cause too much drama and bullshit, it doesn't interest me anymore, and many other points). So I just don't say anything and just drop out of the RP.

Why do you care about what some random person on an internet forum thinks about you? It's infinitely worse to just disappear than to say why you want to leave. If they take offense in your reasons, then it's questionable whether they are worth the time and effort of roleplaying to begin with.

My complaint this time is directed at myself. After not believing in the negative stereotypes of roleplayers and believing myself impervious to them, I am now convinced that they exist and that I can fall victim to them as well! Feels great, actually; much easier to identify and avoid them now that I've seen them in action.

It might be good or bad that I don't say anything and leave. I can't just get over it as what I have been doing from almost a year or so. I also don't roleplay with some users because they will be taken offense.

I like users who are organized and neat in their writing. I want spaces in the character sheets, the ability to use the QQCode Cheatsheet, etc. I am picky when it comes to users not doing what I would like them to do, so I just lose interested.

It drives me insane that there are seemingly dozens of people on the site that simply float around and state interest in RPs without ever joining any. Their activity histories are a handful of interest check posts spanned over three months. One could argue that some of them are just making comebacks recently, but almost every RP I have started has had at least three such people with the same background. They artificially inflate the amount if interested users, so, believing it's appropriate begin the roleplay in earnest, I make an OOC that only ends up with a small handful of members. I have to repeat the recruiting process, but more desperately this time since the ship is barely staying afloat and it's infuriating. If you're going to be a Roleplayer Guild member, ROLEPLAY!

With me, I have work and school and am very busy over the week, so when i get on, it's the weekend, and the RP has progressed so much i don't understand whats going on, so I drop out. This is why I do this.

To which stereotypes are you referring? Now I'm interested in this as a topic, as I'm sure we all notice different trends and a multitude of complaints here come from people picking out the ones they don't like, but it's always fun to see what someone perceives as a stereotype versus another.

Well, people who disappear without notice and people who disappear without notice and remain active in other threads on the forum. I think that these two are quite common, from what I can read and tell, which is why I labeled them 'stereotypes.' Although, I'm not sure if that was particularly wise.

Well my statement might have come off bit elitism. I might be one or I might not and I just like things to be neat and organized. Sorry about my statement, but it is the truth, and you can avoid me or tell others about me. At the end of the day, I don't care.

And Prisk, why would you avoid somebody that disappears? We all here to roleplay after all, so why would you reject someone because, they do an action that you don't like?

Not Prisk, but here to vent on a related matter: one of my offsite rp friends, who literally can never do a rp more than 3 posts long. Which wouldn't be so bad if she also wasn't chronically setting up rp worlds, inviting the whole bunch of us (there are three others beside me), and then - as I noted - dropping it all 3 posts later and doing something else. It just saves time and energy at this point to refuse her offers.

To answer the question of how often I've fallen for this, 6 times is the number. So also take this as a rant about my gullibility.

That's just it, we are here to roleplay, and if people disappear it prevents us from roleplaying. So, this isn't as much about what I don't like, as it is about these people hindering me and many others from doing what we came here to do. A bigger crime would be that I simply don't trust people until they've proven themselves trustworthy, but it spares me a lot of headaches and experiences akin to RBYDark's.

I get annoyed by the amount of bad GMs I seem to run into. They either leave the RP to die after a few posts, or I guess they just don't live up to my standards of how a GM should be. I don't think I've that high standards either really. I kind of wish I was better at telling who is a good one before I join an RP.

Try to find threads that have run for a longer period of time if you are concerned about the former.

What do you look for in a GM?

People who don't post for an entire week with next to no explanation why or forenotice. I once had a girl;s sister tell me she was in the hospital for some broken bones at one point. The point being if YOU can't then ask one of your friends to log onto your account and tell the GM and people you're leaving or you're not able to post. People who don't post leave notices always IMMEDIATELY go on my shit list.

I have absolutely no interest in getting my friends to pop on and tell people if/why I can't okay.

especially if the hospital is involved. Feeling a little sick? Sure I'll tell you. Unexpected trip to the hospital for a week. deal with it until I can come explain.

I have to agree with Rilla, this is a hobby, if someone is in the hospital they have more important things to worry about than getting on to inform someone they can't post. Like Rilla said, being sick is one thing, anything that is a major life event, well it takes precedence over a few lines of text in a role-play.

This happens. If there isn't a good reason, then be irked, but I agree fully with Rilla.

Even if a player is gone for awhile, without telling me, I'll still almost always welcome them back because I'm capable enough to work around it if it is causing a roadblock. If I can't, then I'm failing as a GM. It may be irritating, but I know life can get in the way.

That's expecting waaaaaay too much from a person. I know I'd be pretty pissed off if I was in the hospital and I come back to someone saying something like this.
