Digital Monsters - Virtual Online Battle/Raising Game!

So yeah, Digimon is an online virtual reality game, in which you get to interact with monsters, life-like NPC's, and even other players. Eventually. Once the game is released.

Still in its testing stage, several beta players are currently playing some preliminary missions and tasks, making sure there aren't any terrible glitches or something. Because no one wants bugs in their VR games, right? They should be finalising the testing around now, so not much left to test before the game becomes a best-selling phenomenon. With any luck!

And of course, there totally won't be a nasty surprise awaiting the beta players. Because the programmers didn't put one in, and it's not like a game can code up some unknown monstrosity all by itself or something. That'd be silly.

And with that quick intro out of the way,,, yeah, Digimon: Online Edition. Before anyone makes the comparison, yes, I came up with this RP years before I'd heard of SAO.

The basic idea is that a bunch of beta testers are pretty much finalising the tests before public release, when something strange occurs and they can't seem to log out. Meanwhile, the Digimon in-game seem strangely life-like for scripted entities. And so, the players must find a way to escape back to their world, and maybe figure out what exactly happened in the process. These strange glitches have even caused Leomon to not die! That's bad things have gotten!

Let's see... while I won't forbid multiple characters using the same Digimon, I'd appreciate if they would at least follow different evo paths. For variety and all that.

And speaking of evo paths, I don't mind divergence from canon a little. If you want Greymon to digivolve into Rizegreymon, then that's fine. Though try not to go for something too outlandish, we want logic in our VR RP about monsters that evolve at a whim to beat things up, damn it.

Appearance: Boom.
Personality: Kaori can best be described as relentlessly cheerful and slightly hyperactive. Of course, at the same time she's something of a space case, barely being able to concentrate on anything for very long.
Digivice: Think a D-Arc minus the card slot coloured in White with Bronze and Red accents.
Background: Kaori doesn’t actually remember anything about her past. Only that she woke up one day in the Digital World with a Digivice in her pocket and Patamon by her side.

The truth is a bit darker than that. She was once a part of the game world; in fact she’s a product of the same glitches in the system that created the problems the cast will face. And who knows how she’ll react to that little revelation?

Age: 16 in real life. Her avatar appears about 16-18.
Appearance: Her in-game self... and her real self.
Personality: Kumiko is an avid gamer and fan of anime and manga. She has a deep enjoyment of such media, and tends to spend all her free time on that sort of thing. In addition, Kumiko is a rather shameless pervert towards cute girls of all sorts. In game, she's liable to flirt with any girls she comes across. She's very outgoing and friendly in-game, as well. In real life, she's more nervous and even skittish, though she's still friendly if she gets to know someone, and still rather shamelessly perverse towards cute girls. That said, she feels more comfortable communicating in some other manner than face-to-face, unless she knows the person she's speaking with already. While she doesn't completely resent her childish, immature appearance, she does wish she had a more mature body. This is largely because she believes it would make it easier to get cute girls. This is reflected by her in-game avatar. She's generally more confident in games then in real life. While it wouldn't be right to call her shy, her nervousness and lower confidence levels are a marked difference between how she acts in games and in real life.
Digivice: The same as an Adventure Digivice. Blue in color.

Personality: Max is a cheerful, optimistic guy who doesn't like to be bogged down with unpleasant thoughts. He enjoys laughing and making jokes with others, even in inappropriate situations. He is easygoing and friendly, which makes it easy for him to befriend people. He is really good at understanding other people's emotions, and is an emotional guy himself. He is not embarrassed to show his feelings. He cries when he is sad, and is openly affectionate towards his friends and family. He is driven more by his emotions than logic, and tends to act impulsively as a result. He does not think about how his actions affect others until it is too late, and winds up feeling bad about it afterwards if something goes wrong. 

Max is very sensitive, and is willing to be a shoulder to cry on, and give you some words of encouragement when you are down. It is very easy to get him to like you, and once he is your friend he will remain your friend for life. He will keep your secrets a secret, and will do what he thinks is best for you. When something bothers him, he will keep that to himself for fear of hurting someone's feelings. For him, hurt feelings hurt worse than a hurt body.
