Synopsis

The school is called "The School of Natural Law." It teaches people who have been chosen to success a divine or otherworldly unique entity how to behave as such an entity, and their duties and powers. It's ALSO a school to teach some humans how to act as shrine-keepers and other such important tasks. Many of the deities and supernatural entities are either benevolent, or, impartial. However, there are some entities in existence that are not so benevolent that must learn their place too. It's a wonder how the place doesn't fall apart. As a student, it's your job to try to make it through your instruction alive.

Rules

1. Guild rules. Pretty straight-forward.
2. No OOC speak in the IC. (dunno why anybody would do that.)
3. Everybody must take attendance/contribute. (This one's new. It's to keep everybody active and interested. Tell me if this is a deal-breaking factor or not.)
4. When I get a Co-Gm, ya gotta listen to em, kay?
5. I will not accept deities with too similar powers. If it gets down to it, the better written one will win out, or, the one that is already there will stay.

That's about it for the rules.

Character Sheet:

Name:
Age:

Appearance: (you don't have to have any sort of power showing in this image.)
Personality: ( You don't have to fit the personality of said being. )
History: (maybe an explanation of why you were chosen.)
Powers/Duties: (what you as a deity/entity have to do for a living, and what perks you get for being such a thing (and cons if they apply))

While I'm definitely looking forward to this, I think I'll wait to commit before a couple others join first. After that, you have my dedication.

Name: Evera

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Job: Taking over for Mephistopheles (my take on him is as a benevolent being who guides those where they belong in the afterlife, particularly the damned)

Appearance:

Personality: Very caring and nurturing, Evera often is seen as a mother figure despite her young age. She seems to have an old soul. She can be optimistic, and it isn't unusual to see a smile on her face. She is serious most of the time however, and patient and calm under pressure. She also has a sixth sense when something is wrong.

History: She is the daughter of Mephistopheles and a witch, who made a contract with him to let him have her soul to take where it belonged (she was managing to resist death) in exchange for a child. He granted her wish, and she gave birth to Evera before dying and letting the deity take her. Evera was raised as an orphan until adopted at age 7 by a family whose father was a ghost hunter of sorts. Through investigations and spirits speaking through his equipment, they discovered Evera’s lineage, and one night Mephistopheles himself spoke through that his daughter was one day to inherit the burden on his shoulders. She already knew she could explore the spiritual realm while sleeping, but had no idea she would have to fill such shoes one day.

Powers/Duties:
- Guide spirits to where they belong in the afterlife, whether it be heaven, hell, certain circles of hell or heaven, etc.
- Perks/Other duties are she can appear in dreams, lead souls that have left their bodies during sleep or séances other places or rescue them if they end up in the wrong place, and has access to every corner of the spiritual realm. She also can perform a spiritual cleansing in certain areas by generating a supernatural fire, that destroys souls and areas in order to rejuvenate it (for example, if she has placed souls in a safe haven, and it gets infested by demons, she might set it on fire and destroy it, rather than have the souls tortured unnecessarily).
- Cons are her job is a very depressing one most of the time. Most of the souls she leads go to a not great place, and she has to deal with demons quite often.

Name: Riot
Age: 5, though he appears to be more like 15
Gender: Male
Job: Suppliant of Hypnos
Appearance:

Riot's skin is made of a spongy resin, as clearly visible. While human in shape, his hands and feet mark him as something else. Plus, there's always that repulsive tail poking out of his lower back. The tail is part of an organism that is symbiotic to Riot's being, a vile worm that remains hidden behind Riot's resin face. The mask will split in half vertically and slide sideways to let the Lindwurm out. The blues he wears are the colors of Hypnos, and worn to honor him.

Personality: Unexpectedly for a being created to be a one-monster army, Riot is a pretty cool guy. He is outgoing, headstrong, sarcastic, excitable, and mischievous, much like an average teenage boy. When put under duress, his more monstrous side begins to show, and he becomes sporadic, loopy, and even sadistic. Even normally he takes a certain delight in surprising and scaring people. He does have a proclivity for servitude, but since Hypnos is currently candidate for that role, this isn't a factor. Ever since receiving

Powers/Duties: Since his inception, Riot has been able to create images of himself to stand, work, or fight by his side. This is an instantaneous and mental feat; he simply has to think it, and a clone will appear. These copies are no stronger than he, and the more he has, the more strained his telepathic link is and the less complicated things they all can do. He can also release the Lindwurm from inside him, or allow it to poke out briefly to strike. Being essentially two parts of the same being, both resin statue and abyssal monster act as one, even when not touching.

As the Suppliant of Hypnos, Riot has gained a few new abilities. By yawning, he creates an intense drowsiness in those around him, and by holding in the yawn he can put himself to sleep instantly. When under the effect of this magical slumber, he quickly heals any damage done to him. He has received basic training from Hypnos in a discipline called Soporific Palms. After imbuing his palms with gray mist, Riot's strikes cause the victim to become more tired, effectively making him able to incapacitate foes without actually harming them.

Name: Ashil Arry
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Job: Chosen heir to Apep

Appearance: Ashil is, in a word, unimposing. He isn’t short, but he’s not tall either, not muscular but not unhealthy. A bit wiry of a frame, but a straight posture, like he was always expecting to be looked at. His hair is long, and, of his own foppish volition, styled in a flare and dyed a deep blue up front, and in a garish contrast, a vibrant violet in the back.

Personality: Ashil was something of a brat before his ordeal. Very self-absorbed, very vain, one to use his “friends” as tools to achieve his own social goals. The people that knew him well attested to him being different in personal space, but could provide no proof, and those who knew him normally could more than readily prove his manipulative nature. However, once he became the chosen successor to Apep, he quickly realized that being hated for who you project yourself to be, and being hated for what you actually are, are two very different things. Now bitter, manipulative, and deceitful beyond what he was before, Ashil is constantly caught between his disdain for the role he was drafted into, and a resentment for those around him. He grew used to being the villain, being beaten by others who had truly noble causes, even if adolescent. He is always unsure, always doubting what he is, what he wants to be, and what he is expected to be. That, perhaps, more than anything, is what makes him dangerous.

History: Why Ashil was chosen to succeed the chaotic entity is a mystery. Perhaps Apep saw him as a potential evil, or maybe, looking further, found a gleeful challenge in the corruption of the boy. Whatever the reasoning, Ashil now bears the burden of carrying on his “master’s” duties, whatever that leaves of him in the end.

Powers/Duties: The ultimate goal of Apep, as much as Ashil may fight it, would be the destruction of the sun, light, and the deconstruction of universal order. Returning everything to its original, nebulous and chaotic state. Apep is starting him slow, though, and for now Ashil is meant to simply put out candles and other small lights he comes across, when he can. Baby steps.

Ashil’s powers are the more sinister of the two present things, and they manifest as such:

Realm of Apophis: The ability to deconstruct areas, though usually around him. It can be projected at the cost of size. From the outside it merely appears to suck the light out of an area, however the technicalities are more complex. What it truly does is temporarily unmake a section of space, disassembling it until it holds no laws of reality. These areas do not delete living material or things directly attached to living material that do not include the environment. In these spaces, reality is subject to mental influence, and for those unacquainted with the lawless "order" of nothingness, simply being inside can be overwhelmingly strange. Even Ashil, who was subjected to long bouts of confinement within the Nothing Spaces, has yet to fully grasp the possibilities. Once the ability breaks, the space is returned to as it was prior.

Blueprint: Ashil's form becomes unstable, seeming to jump and twitch and split for only fractions of moments before reassembling and then repeating again. In this state, perceiving him can be difficult, as it’s hard to determine exactly where he is. This state cannot be maintained for more than a few seconds at a time.

Apotheosis: The assimilation of Apep into Ashil's being. While channeled, he is much more agile, able to bend and twist further than normal. Fangs protrude from his front teeth, his skin becomes rougher, and his hands become as claws, sharp and draconic. Apep has said that the ability has many stages to it, however Ashil has only ever managed -for a brief time- the first, and cannot begin to fathom the others that follow.

Lugubrious, your link for Marowit was not informative at all. I can't accept your character if I don't know it's basis, even if it IS well-written. Besides, being the champion of a god usually doesn't entail being made and having powers not seeming to attribute to your god's powers, as far as I've known from other religions. Please explain it better, or pick a different topic please.

Esayo, your character is acceptable. How did you know I like Egyptian lore?~

Well, the idea was based on Marowit being a fairly minor and unknown god, of such a low degree that he can only endow previously existing beings with his powers and not make any. I can edit it to replace Marowit with the better-known sleep god Hypnos. As for your ideas of what 'should' be, I'm not going to do against your wishes but a little creative liberty will be appreciated. I'll make the edits and see what you think.

Thanks for the better reference. However, I stand by my decision. Not to detract from being a little creative, but I would prefer that all powers stay within the bounds of their source. It gives me a better grasp of what to allow and to not allow. I can't make exceptions, or the structure would fall apart. The Idea was great, but, I can't let it pass. Those are the breaks.

Edits are done. I think it works together better now, but if you want me to go a completely different route (Riot was made by Hypnos) or choose something else altogether, I understand.

Sorry if I sound like a prude, but I still cannot allow it. Not much changed, aside from names. It's nice that you got me a link I could use, but hypnos doesn't seem one to raise an army, more to use his powers to trick someone, or have their guard let down so he may pass. His powers and decisions have little to nothing to seem to do with your character's make-up.

Forgive me, I'm just drawing a blank on how to improve him. Do you have any suggestions?

I could make it so that rather than simply survive a year at the school, Riot's job is to place individuals among the School of Deities asleep using Hypnos's powers, which in turn adds to Hypnos's domain. It's a sort of insidious, tricky thing to do; as he goes throughout the year, making others fall asleep, his master's power grows. I can change his personality to be more somber and subversive.

Alternatively, I could literally make Phobetor into my character, a young daimon trying to learn how to become the God of Nightmares.
