Abilities

Magician Savant: Felix is well versed in virtually every magic style the Catholic church is aware of. He is a master of both combat and defensive magic, as well has healing magic. Felix has always been exceptional at magic, to the point of even creating his own spell and combat style.
Manaegis: At the age of twenty he created Manaegis, his flagship ability. Manaegis forces latent mana within the user out into a physical manifestation of a bright blue full suit of armor and a weapon. Both the armor and weapon are essentially weightless, but are slightly stronger than steel.
Manalysis: Due to Felix's mastery and large mana reservoir, he has an ability known as manalysis. Manalysis allows Felix to comprehend mana in a way most people cannot. First off, Felix can physically see the auras of other Talents. These auras each have colors unique to the individual's aura. This color has to do with the type of magic the Talent has a mastery in, as well as their personal morality alignment. The size of the aura is directly correspondent to the size of the Talent's mana well. Manalysis also allows him to feel small shifts within mana waves in the air. Nature exudes its own mana waves, which are disrupted by other mana users who have their own magic wave radiation. Felix is able to feel this discrepancy and interpret use it to sense others. He can use this in combat to predict his enemies moves, as well as out of combat to detect mana users. Manalysis while not rare, is very difficult to master to the degree that Felix has.

Felix also has a mastery of spacial magic allowing him to levitate and teleport on a whim.

Backstory

Felix was born in New York City, New York. When Felix was an infant, the Catholic magi scouts detected a large amount of mana residing within the Felix’s household. Knowing about the newborn and the massive reserves of mana held within him, the scouts approached Felix’s parents telling them of the situation. Felix’s parents, having seen small displays of magic from Felix decided they were not equipped to raise the child and relinquished the custodial rights to the Catholic Church. Throughout his childhood, he studied and lived at the NYC Catholic cathedral. At around the age of sixteen, he showed such prowess and proficiency with magic, that the NYC cathedral had nothing left to teach him, so he was sent off to the Vatican to learn from the best of the best. After studying at the Vatican, it wasn’t long before Felix achieved the status of Arch-mage and earned a seat in the inner council. At the age of twenty Felix developed his own magic style, manaegis. After developing this magic style, he was asked to become an instructor at the Vatican and teach others to master the magic style. This is where he resides to this day.

Personality

Felix is headstrong, intelligent, and very wise (although only 31 years old). Felix does his best to be passive, but has no problem fighting if he deems it necessary. Felix hardly ever gets angry, and when he does it is always justified. Stuck in his ways, he can be a little too headstrong. This resulted in him not leaving the Catholic church until recently, even though he knew some of the problems the organization had. Felix loves music, and is very musical himself. He carries with him at all times a Hoener Marineband Special 20 B♭ harmonica. He knows how to play the harmonica, piano, and guitar. As a professor, he is very instructive, and is a great mentor. Felix is very friendly and tends to think of everyone he meets as a friend. Even when Felix has a problem with someone, he will not hold any ill-will toward them.

Abilities

Nemo is often considered a Mana-fiend among other terms. Someone who can feed off of mana itself for energy. He has a innate control over mana and mastery with absorption focused spells. Being able to drain other Talent's mana reserves to refill his own. With more advanced spells Nemo can even harness the natural mana found in the world for himself in a pinch.
While most Talents are able to increase their maximum mana pool by training. Nemo sadly lacks this ability. But makes up for it by being able to permanently increase his pool by fully draining mana from living beings and certain objects. Fully draining a magic user can also sometimes give Nemo the ability to use some of their spells.
An added bonus of consuming mana is that it makes him immune to aging.

All of his mana must be put to some sort of worthy use, and Nemo does so by specializing in highly destructive spells and traps. Often using an "X" shape motif. He also utilizes summoning magic circle relay rings. When a magic projectile passes through them, it increases in speed and power. Relay rings can also be chained together like a railgun to devastating effect.

Nemo triggers most of his attacks from the X shaped rune on the palm of his glove.

At times Nemo also has a affinity for fine custom weaponry instead of spells. Utilizing rifles, knives, and his trademark revolvers with specialized ammo to conserve his mana.

Nemo is fond of the dark and the cold. He sees and reacts better in darker places with his white nocturnal-like eyes. However as a drawback he often becomes irritated and uncomfortable in bright or hot areas.

Backstory

While his actual age is a mystery, it is said that at a young age Nemo was shunned by all of the leading magic organizations for his unpredictable abilities and attributes. Being an orphan, Nemo was left to fend for himself in the world. His abilities were the only thing he had at a young age, realizing that most people were afraid of his style of spells. Nemo found that resorting to force to get what he needed was usually the only option that worked.

As his control over his abilities grew he began to get more involved with the magic underground. Nemo began to take advantage of his anti-mana magic to make a name for himself as a effective assassin against other fellow magic users. He did this as a means to both further his own power and take revenge against the magic community for it's treatment of him.

As Nemo's notoriety grew, the magic factions that once rejected him began to take notice. However not in the way he once wanted. Nemo began to become a problem for them, something that reached a climax when he executed a pair of Catholic Magi while on a armored transport mission.

The Church had let him grow unchecked for too long. To solve the problem they set an ambush up for Nemo with a group of Grand-Magi and a entourage of his students. A fight occurred between the two, ending with Nemo's capture. But not before the group of mages suffered great causalities, including their leader.

After the encounter Nemo was locked up deep in a pitch black cell within a dungeon located under the Vatican. There he lies in wait, feeding off of the small amount of mana rationed to him and wondering how long it will take before he is set free.

Personality

Despite it all Nemo often comes off as a rather chipper carefree individual, something that is often seems sinister while fighting instead. Nemo is often unstable, his polite and charismatic outer attitude sheds to his more psychotic inner shell while angered.
Nemo has a fascination with all things visual. Taking great pride with his work and considering the battles he partakes in as art. Aiming to make them as aesthetically impressive as he can.
He's also a collector, coming off as borderline greedy in some cases. He'll try to obtain anything he finds visually appealing. Nemo becomes highly irritated when his possessions are sullied. Thankfully he can often repair them.
Going hand in hand with his knack for collecting, he also takes great joy in eating. Being able to consume a very large amount of food and eat just about anything.

Abilities

Raiya specializes in destructive magic. She is a master of electrical spells, and ruinous spells. She has a great foundation in most all Catholic magics as well as some Japanese Zen Buddhist/Shinto magic. As with her fascination of Japan, she also has a great fascination with snakes and has developed snake themed fighting style and magic. Every so often she sheds her skin, this makes her immune to aging. With her magic powers, she also has the ability to control certain light metals.

Backstory

Raiya's parents, Japanese immigrants, owned a successful Japanese cuisine restaurant chain in New York City. Both parents died in a burglary gone wrong leaving Raiya orphaned in infancy. With a large mana constitution, Raiya was immediately adopted by the Catholic cathedral and put into mage training. Growing up in the New York Cathedral, she always shadowed Felix and thought of him as her older brother. Raiya was always proficient in magic, and her studies reflected that. Raiya achieved the rank Grand-Mage at the age of seventeen. At the age of twenty she was sent with two other grand-magi to investigate the sudden disappearance of a remote village in Italy. The village was razed, not so much as a 2x4 left standing upright. Investigating the trace of mana waves left by the spell she made her way to a nearby mountain where she found on a cliff-side the definite point of origin of the spell. Looking around the point of origin she found footprints. The foot prints looked exactly like the sole tread of a typical Catholic Magi officer. The level of destruction and the fact that the mana waves left by the spell accounted for only one spell, coupled with the footprint meant the evidence pointed toward an Arch-mage or higher to be the cause of the destruction. Once she returned to the Vatican, she provided the evidence in a council meeting. The council thanked her for the evidence provided but stated that they would be conducting the investigation from then on. Even though the council told her to no longer investigate this issue, Raiya continued the investigation on her own. Looking into the records of those who were gone the night of the destruction of the remote village, she narrowed it down to two, Arch-mage Thadeus and Arch-mage Felix. After obtaining this information, Raiya investigated both Thadues and Felix's living quarters. She discovered that Felix had never even worn his uniform boots, as he wore his own more comfortable combat boots. Thadeus, on the other hand, did not have any other pairs of footwear besides the ones on his feet, which were the uniform boots. Learning of this information but knowing the Vatican council would never listen to her, she approached Felix whom she knew was innocent. She told Felix all of the information she had obtained, but Felix brushed her aside saying that the Vatican was conducting their own investigation and to go against their demands to keep the investigation within their selected team would mean excommunication, even if the information was correct. Felix told her that he would not tell anyone about her own investigation, but pleaded with her to keep quiet about the issue until the Vatican completed their investigation. Raiya couldn't believe what she was hearing, that her cold hard evidence was being brushed aside because of protocol. But what's more, that the investigation team was comprised with Thadeus's brother as a member meant surely that Thadeus would never be convicted of this crime. All of this put into perspective Raiya's membership with the magi, and soon after she left the magi and Catholicism altogether. When she left two others left with her, the other two grand-magi that were on her initial investigation team with her. Soon after they left, they returned to NYC. Because the Vatican saw them as Apostates, they froze all their accounts and social security information, forcing them to make money through means less savory. Instead of falling into despair, Raiya and her two peers adopted the shady lifestyle altogether. Through their magic abilities, it wasn't long before they were running the biggest criminal organization in NYC. Raiya still resides to this day in NYC with the other two magi as her right hand women.

Personality

Raiya is seemingly devoid of any positive emotion. Her normal demeanor could be described as aloof. She is seen as a hard nosed, unwavering leader. This makes her well respected by her subordinates in the gang she runs. Though, to those who know her well enough she can be lighthearted. She has a short temper and a low tolerance for annoyances. In her annoyed state she has no problem threatening her friends with one of her sushi knives she keeps in her inner coat pocket, or electrocuting them with her magic. She loves Japan, even though she wasn't raised there herself. Her fanaticism for Japan runs so deep that she has Japanese tattoos, and has even taught herself the language perfectly. She is an excellent chef and specializes in Japanese cuisine. Even though she isn't very sociable, the few friends she does have are kept close to her and she protects them.

Basic Appearance

Abilities

The Adversary's Pact: A pact signified by the "brand" on John's head. The pact gave John his great knowledge of black magic as well as Hellion. However whats more interesting is that this pact is far more...intimate than one would expect. Perhaps this is the reason why his body has yet to be besieged by age.

Black Magic: Johns array of spells all fall under the category of black magic, spells meant to maim, scar, and kill painfully. There are various things that fall into the domain of black magic, pestilence, vermin, bile, fire, death, blood, and pain. These elements come together into a very dangerous, very traumatic bag of tricks.

Hexes and Curses: Falling into the domain of black magic but different enough to warrant a clarification. A hex is a spell that has been enchanted into something that was once alive, like a skull or branch. These spells are rarely fatal but always painful and distracting, example being suddenly covered in rat bites or hundreds of harmless but bloody cuts opening along your skin. Curses, however, are a different beast all together. A curse is a ritual spell, taking time to prepare and cast, that promises a slow and painful death. Of all his abilities, the act of cursing someone is by far the worst and something John regrets doing.

Hellion, The Familiar: Hellion is a hellhound, a creature in between this plane of existence and another. In her mundane form Hellion appears to just be an extremely large Great Dane, if not having a greater spark of intelligence in her eye. However when things are taking a turn for the sour she can take up her true form, a large flaming hound straight out of your nightmares. In this form she is much stronger than any dog by several large margins, possesses near limitless stamina, and can take some hefty spells. On top of this she is functionally immortal, even if something were to "kill" her she would just return several hours later. Now this puts the idea that she is nothing but a vile beast at the beck and call of John but really she just wants to be treated like a dog and showered with affection. She's a real sweetheart.

Equipment

Blood Dagger: Something he "inherited" from the man responsible for the slaughter of his coven. The blade is of Cult origin, hiding inside John's blood until it can be released by any open wound. The blade can cut through flesh and bone easily enough but anything higher than leather and the blade suddenly loses any cutting power

Scrying Eye: A magical eye, given in exchange for his own. This eye allows John to see things one can't normally see, like auras and residual magical energies. At the cost of temporary blindness John can shoot a bolt of magical energy at an enemy, usually fatal.

Brass Knuckles: Simple, easy to hide, and quite effective. A pugilists best friend.

Bag of Holding: A satchel that can hold a lot more than you'd think. Usually a first aid kit, some potions, a hex or two, and some salts. He can't put anything that wouldn't fit in a normal satchel nor anything that could destroy simple leather.

Backstory

In a simpler time John Barrows was just a simple man, working a simple job. In fact him and the entire coven lived simple lives under their patron, The Adversary. Unfortunately, as things tend to go, John's life took a nose dive into the horrible as the Cult of the Enlightened sacrificed his friends and family to fulfill the wishes of their asinine gods. Either through some fluke or miracle John escaped and in the wake of this atrocity he was filled with nothing more than hatred and rage, all aimed at the Cult. For many years John made sure to be a thorn in the side of The Cult, always bringing terrible vengeance to whatever members and cells he could find.

After nearly a decade of his one man war one thing became apparent, he wasn't accomplishing anything. Their activities never ceased completely and new members seemed to pop up whenever one was taken out. In addition, over the years his fire had died down and smoldered down to nothing. With little to drive him he almost gave up and instead went back to his old home and began gardening, becoming something of a non-standard doctor to the locals. Life became quiet once again, almost peaceful. For several years he stayed in his little house undisturbed besides the occasional local asking for something to ease an ailment. That is, until a man named Felix asked for help.

Personality

If you could describe John in one word it would be tired. It's in the way he moves, how he talks, and he acts. But most of all, it's in his eyes. John has been hurt and has hurt others in equal measure, full of past regrets. He makes no illusions that he was or is a good person, in his age all he wants to do is do something worthwhile. But in the end, even though he may not like it, John is willing to do the dark and dirty to get the job done.

John isn't a fan of sadists or the self righteous, especially the church given his pagan beliefs. In his spare time he tends a small garden, listens to metal, drinks hard liquor, and smokes cigarettes.

Abilities

Deston has dedicated his life to changing the world around him. He furthers his goal by literally changing the way people see things, by altering the world around him. At first he would simply conjure images and visions that weren't there, but by an early age he had already mastered making exact duplicates of people and decided to move onto loftier goals. He began focusing an channeling his mana into changing the chemical and atomic structures of materials around him. While he can masterfully change an apple into an orange without blinking an eye, he is still working on perfecting his craft to a greater scale such as turning a wooden mansion into brick and stone, or forming an item out of the air, without it leaving him exhausted and burnt out.

Backstory

Deston has never wavered in his service to the Catholic Arcanocracy and has never doubted their teachings. Once his skills as an illusionist were known they helped him focus and hone his natural born talent. At a young age he was being given tasks by his Grand-Magi Alexander Leiber, such as sitting in on meetings without being seen, or sneaking into places otherwise forbidden to his fellow novices. The Church soon displaced him from his home in Ireland, constantly having him travel from place to place going to meeting after meeting, breaking into offices, and warehouses alike. By his teenage years he had become a master at blending into the crowd, becoming anyone at any time. A Japanese manager here, a German scholar there. He was recently promoted to Magi after completing his first task of killing a man for the Church. Deston didn't know who the man was, though he suspected he was a dangerous apostate the Church had deemed needed to be put down for the betterment of humanity. But he never actually asked. He never asked questions, and he found he wasn't the slight bit worried about who the man was. That was until the man Deston had killed actually made the news. The man had been a well respected Grand-Magi of the church.

The news shook Deston's otherwise blind faith, and sought council the only place he new where. At his next meeting with his old friend and mentor Grand-Magi Leiber. Leiber quelled his fears providing a story where the man Deston had just killed had actually been an operative of a dark order bent on the destruction of the Church. The Church couldn't formally charge the man with these crimes without alarming the people of how deep this group had infiltrated the church. Deston readily accepted the story he was provided, unwilling to believe that the Church would have him kill an innocent man. But the crack in Deston's faith was there.

Deston couldn't help but ask questions for his tasks which seemed to come less and less frequently after that. After a curious case of not receiving word from the Church for two months Deston finally received another task to kill. This time Deston couldn't go blindly killing. He spent weeks stalking his subject, a man mid way through his life. A thug from all indications, the man constantly skulking in the back alleys of Chicago shaking people down. Still Deston was unsure what the higher ups in the Church could want with this mans death. It was after one particular shake down where the man had beaten a young female and threatened to kill her child that Deston had decided the man deserved to die. Deston snuck into the mans apartment with all the skill his years provided, and entered the mans room only to find him already tore to pieces on his bed. Just then two Magi and came out of the shadows attacking Deston.

The battle that followed added two more bodies to Deston's kill count. Again death affected him not at all. But the betrayal of the Church haunted him. Obviously no longer welcome in the Church, Deston spent the following year hunting down his Grand-Magi who had seemed to disappear into thin air.

Personality

Deston's personality is whatever the moment requires. One moment he is pretending to be outgoing, hearty salesman, the next a secretive and nervous recluse. He typically prefers to stay in the shadows and scope a situation out before deciding on how to act. When engaging with peers he will often display a mask of a happy go lucky youth as he observed his natural quite, caustic, cynical, and reserved demeanor would make people distant and in the long run harder to manipulate for assistance. That being said, Deston is easily flustered with true deep emotions often not knowing to do when they appear as he is used to expressing only the shallow.

Deston has no true friends as he is constantly moving about, his only constant contact is the Grand-Magi he has been serving his whole life. The betrayal of his faith rocked Deston hard, causing him to look at the world with constant cynicism and suspicion. When letting down his mask he can become vicious with his tongue as he begins to let people know what he thinks of them or a situation, not afraid to use the secrets he's stolen from another to hurt them, or pick apart their personality. His ego has been building since he was first removed from his fellow novices, giving him a sense that he cannot fail and a belief that he has no living equal in his craft. While he has no doubt there are others who know more, he believes in just a few short years he shall pass them all.

Abilities

Within the confines of Societas Academia, free of religious delegation and protection from the witch hunters of the world, Yuno got to experience a more free form nature of magical growth within the variety of options available to pick up and learn. Obviously, as a Talent she got to remain towards the top of the hierarchy of the student body by doing so. Even as a Ruin Mage however, she had more method to her than fireballs and lightning bolts. Her magic is one that was passed onto her from her mother and her mother before that: Gemstone Focus. The properties of these gemstones seem to have innate magical effect with them, and by mastering it she has given herself a wide range of arcane and versatile pool of magical power. Another use is that these spells are very quick to cast as the gem takes the need of melding the form of the magic into their own properties. From magic missile like bolts to focused blasts these tools are handy, but she also has her own magic to develop of Rune Magic. The art of drawing and crafting runes for rituals and spells which while slower are also versatile and more permanent. Leaving one to write lines to create barriers or leave a cursed mark onto the opponent. The strongest form is the rituals such words, runes, and signs are required for though if one has the time to create such powerful magics. After all, have you ever seen a cult not chant around a magic circle to summon devastation?

Backstory

Expectations: Yuno’s life has been a constant barrage of them. With her mother being a graduate of professor the Societas Academia and top of her class and her inherited magical style that her family has been passing on the fate to carry on the family name moved to rest on Yuno as their only child after her mother’s miscarriage with the second. Second was never good enough for the name that needed to continue to excel in the eye of her mother and elder grandmother. Day in, day out was practice from even the youngest of ages to grow crystals, study them, and then use them to their fullest potential. One didn’t need society or friends. She only would need the connections her mother already established and the scores to get her by, and Yuno did throughout primary and secondary schooling. But, that was with a longtime friend as her side as well. The person Yuno may confide in when not in her mother’s almost torturous and cruel aspect of training.

Gem magic wasn’t a large part of Yuno’s resentment. Her mother’s skill and ability fascinated her to the point where Yuno could kid herself half the time it was fair and right for her mother to expect to much. That she should feel superior from her lineage. Their name would be remembered through generations to come if they kept up, and possibly grow to be a very well established family. But, Yuno wanted to expand that magic and use it for her own will. Develop it organically like a crystal would grow rather than be the strict and uptight woman she was forced into being. Less direct and more graceful Yuno wanted to learn more, explore, and use her magic outside of simple practice and regulated ability. Somewhere that could truly test her skill as well as develop the use of other magic. Her mother usually disparaged her from learning basic rune magic outside her regular studies. Enough to get the top spot was fine in her eyes, but Yuno’s best friend used such a magic to more than remarkable abilities. It was always a place Yuno fell behind in, and her goal to get better and continue on the separate path alongside her gems was a more personal goal. At least, until her friend’s death due to unforeseen illness.

At first Yuno of course was devastated and alone from this, having not gotten together with others, but at the same time this point was a realization. Her mother was the one holding her back because she was trapped in her shadow. But, she can’t seem to find a way out of it. She was a graduate student and a Ruin Mage already. Her path for these years was so completed that abandoning it now would almost be a death sentence to her future. This wasn’t what she wanted, and to keep up with the world her friend tried showing her was another goal. Sure, she wasn’t her friend. Her friend was a bit to direct, blunt, and needless to say idiotic outside of fighting to be a guide, but the respect Yuno had of it and feeling of going with her own will was what Yuno was inspired by.

Personality

Yuno is an elegant combination of grace and cunning wrapped up into a sparkling package. While logical, she looks more onto the positive side of things believing in how ones mindset can change the outcome of a situation. Dedication in all of her endeavors and putting the job above most other things she can come off as cold or teasing at a first glance, but she has the best intentions as well as what she believes is a strong moral compass. With her dedication to her art and lineage though comes at the cost of friends within the Acadamia. Having her studies distract her from such things through a good portion of her life until she finally got out of being a Secondary Schooler and on with the greater freedom as a Ruin Mage. Versatility over one special skill in her magic and daily life left her with many graces and favorable attitudes from her teachers, but some can take her as a show off which leaves her to enjoy the quieter moments of the night and how music can help her take her mind off the troubles of life. More... abrasive and direct anger from others can easily annoy her as the logic of it may pass, but devotion is something she respects even if its not the same devotion as her.

Abilities:

Like many of the Societas Academia, Travis has a very good understanding how magic functions and how certain spells are performed. Being an Untalent however, much of what he has learned is unfortunately outside of his realm of implementation and only gets by with the bare basics of each aspect. But to him, this is perfectly fine; the spells Travis can produce by himself are considered useful survival tools in order to help him get by.

His real prowess is through the deciphered tomes and runes recovered throughout his journeys, capable of extending his abilities beyond his current potential. Though if anything, they too are yet another means of allowing him dissect and better understand their magical functionalities and eventually reproduce their effects in more manageable and efficient methods.

Funnily enough, given his recent and occasionally perilous encounters, Travis has been seen to be a rather surprisingly athletic runner.

Backstory:

Being an Untalent amongst a rather social community of more capable Talents can definitely be rough. Condemned to a lesser status because of one’s natural inability to coordinate with magic fluidly was the fate many Untalents within the Societas Academia faced almost daily. Travis however didn’t seem to be bothered by this too much. In fact, he was perhaps too busy studying and discussing theories to really care at all.

While as an Untalent and indeed had higher expectations set against him by his self-deserving peers, he enthusiastically conceptualized these endeavors as welcomed challenges in order solve rather petty societal crises to stress about. Though Travis was no ace mage and was more likely a magician as far as skills go, his main strength was his constructed knowledge base with a fierce understanding of the architecture of mana and magic implementation.

After years of hard study and grueling practice, Travis eventually achieved the rank of Aspect trainee and began the next phase of his training. Without any particular proficiency found in any particular set of spells, he would then opt-in into the Aspect of Scholar. As one would expect from his intuitive personality, Travis had felt right at home with his new position and became eager to set out for new discoveries.

What he didn’t know was how cruel and horrifying the world could be outside the Societas Academia. The concept of death was something many students were well versed in, some more than others, but to experience and its many forms was something rather undesirable. Thus for Travis, now a Scholar, would soon come to know and witness this concept on more than one occasion as he pursues his quest for knowledge.

“So I spoke to an ebony dressed lady from the Cult of the Enlightened. We actually had a pleasant conversation until I asked about the concept of soul weaving. She laughed. Her fur coat cried. Suffice to say, I left in a hurry.”

Personality:

Despite his humble demeanor, surprisingly as an Untalent, Travis is certainly not afraid to speak his mind and express his views when necessary, sometimes comical or sarcastic if it benefits the mood. Being an easily fascinated and curious sort, he takes his role as a Scholar by heart (if not seriously) and seeks knowledge whenever he can find it; until it gets him into trouble. Nonetheless, he does show great pride and devotion to his line of work, atypical as it may be.

Travis can sometimes be described as a pacifist or “pass-the-fist” as he himself describes it. He sees no need for violence and certainly rejects the notion of killing but acknowledges the need for self-defense if he cannot negotiate his way out of a troubling confrontation. Of course said confrontations are usually created by something he may have said or done without any harmful or insulting intent.

-Face Distortion- Can make someone else seeing his face as *someone they don't know*. Everyone will see a different face. This is what he mostly uses to blend in with the crowd but prefers to use his "Shroud X" when among true allies.
-Time Surge-Increasing the brain's activity, he is able to see things slowly and more clearly, ideal for analyzing situations when you only have a few seconds left, those seconds even turning to minutes. Combined with Limit Breaker and Movement Prediction it can even allow for the user to cut sniper bullets in half with a mana-infused butter knife.
-Limit breaker-By forcefully bringing out the muscle potential one has, it increases it's reaction time, speed and strength in order from highest to lowest. Downside-It causes muscle aching and if used multiple times a day it can lead to momentarily body paralyzation.
-Movement Prediction-It predicts the trajectory of an attack or anything moving for that matter. It gives the user ability to see when that object or moving creature will be a few seconds after and the path it will take. However it doesn't predict if the object will change direction mid-movement, that would be future prediction.Passively active, can deactivate/activate it at will, low mana cost per sec when activated, 0 sec CD and 0 cast time.
-Mana Infusal- It can infuse with mana an object of the user's choosing giving it special properties and increased statistics(butter knife cutting sniper bullets).
*Shroud X*-Periodically gives his body the ability of full absorption, absorbing all the light while losing the ability to reflect it. Henceforth he will look like a black figure to light-dependent creatures that use light reflection to see(humans etc.). Mana cost is relatively low and can be activated/deactivated at will with 0 CD and 1 minute cast time lasting up to one hour if activated for whole body and infinite duration and 0 cast time when activated on face or other specific parts.
**Shroud Z**- Periodically gives his body the ability of full transparency letting light pass through him without any absorption or reflection henceforth making him completely invisible to light-dependent creatures that use light reflection to see(humans etc.). The ability extends to any robe, item or object he is carrying beside his body(Cannot be used to make others invisible). Cast time is 0, activation and deactivation time are 0, the duration being 100 seconds max with mana cost=1/100 of total mana every second that the ability is in use.
***Phantom***-The user is able to instantly teleport up to 12 inches in any direction. Cast time is 0 with cool-down of 0.1 seconds increasing by twofold with every successive use after the first one(0.2/0.4/0.8/1.6 etc.). The CD resets to 0.1 after 10 seconds of not using this ability, this turning to 2 seconds if the user is in critical near death condition. The user loses its inertia. If the user tries to teleport to a solid object, the ability doesn't activate.

Backstory

Hailing from Societas Academia, Bishop graduated as a Knight Mage. Reason he left? Charges on theft. He was always looking for an opportunity, a greater goal to give guidance to his future. When the opportunity presented itself, he packed up and left. The opportunity being a fellow scholar returning to the academy with an ancient tome. Luckily for Bishop, he was the first to hear of his finding. Quickly knocking the Scholar subconscious, he got the tome and left. Surprising enough, the tome showed only one ability, some kind of teleportation technique. Needless to say, Bishop got studying. Leaving the Societas Academia, he sought refuge in one of the subgroups of the Pagan Magi. A peaceful lot they were, not many questions, not many tasks. Using the cover he got from them, he studied the tome every single day. 5 months later, he was finally able to perform the ability. The special thing about it, was that it didn't need any measures to be taken or circles to be drawn to perform it and the mana cost to activate it was relatively low. That's what it gave it's value.
Now quietly passing time amongst the Pagan Magi, he plans on his next destination.

Personality

His personality changes into 2 forms. In his first form adrenaline is his poison. A rather carefree and reckless nature, he often disregards others' safety, even his own at times, for different reasons. His value on life, as he sees it, is rather low.
In his second one he becomes overly cautious, thoughtful about every action he is about to take and it's consequences. He will do anything to avoid danger and attack only if necessary when there is no option left. He values life above anything else and will never resort to killing another human being.
Always looked at forming social ties as a bother but he ended creating some anyway, that being during the time he was at the academy. After he left it, alone ever since.
Passionate about super power manga and ninja/assassin ones he adapted his real life style to his preferences. His ego raising with every successful dangerous situation he barely escaped. The pleasure he gets when he dodges bullets and attacks from stronger enemies brings his ego and adrenaline to a sky-scraping level giving his first personality more show time.

It does not stack but the bonus resets after every successful kill.(It is an ancient-stone-looking talisman with a scalene ellipsoid shape, snake-like tribal carvings surrounded it, a black always-moving-liquid filling the carvings giving it a sinister look. When placed upon skin, it merges itself with it turning into a tattoo. It cannot be removed except by the user's own free will or by his death in which case it separates from the skin. It is currently located in his left forearm near his ankle.)

Appearance: Artos stands tall at 6feet, with a muscular physique and and ice blue eyes. Upon his back from right shoulder to left hip is a bright blue scar that has never healed properly in the arctic winds, a reminder of what arrogance can cost someone. Upon his left hand is a plated glove connecting to a heavy piece of solid iron circling his wrist used to deflect an enemies attack and open up a riposte. The rest of his equipment is very lightly armored to allow maximum movement. Three flasks on his back hip store the crystal clear water he purifies personally and uses on his blade when no other sources of water are useable.
Artos' skin is a pale blue, the same as his fathers, with snowy short cut white hair.

Abilities

Brief summary of abilities
Flowing water - A steam of water flows from his blades when in use and splash along anything his weapon touches, getting his opponents thoroughly soaked.
Sub-zero - As the name implies he creates a pocket of intense cold, freezing anything in the zone of control solid. Those doused in his waters are often left in a coffin of ice.
Frozen blade - A variation on flowing water, a thin coat of sub zero water freezes along the blade making it a blunt/piercing style that often forces parts of the body hit to become completely numb. With a bit more control he can force the water to shape outwards and expand on the blades length to provide extra reach.
Soothing calm - Restorative magic channeled through his pure waters creates a slow regenerative effect.

Backstory

Far to the north there is a realm obscured by endless winter inhabited by warriors who fear not the fangs of deaths icy touch. It is here Artos was trained in the harnessing of this merciless form of combat under the tutelage of his father Archibald Bane, trained to kill any who would see his homeland invaded by the outside. Taught to hate with the same unforgiving manner their homeland would take them with. His father had trained until his body had turned an icy blue, so infused with the frozen magic that permeated his home, and developed a style all of his own using thawed ice found deep within a mountain of colossul ice. The water was pure and flowed to the tune of Archibalds magic like a puppet, taking whatever form he desired, freezing and returning to liquid with a thought, and enhancing his own natural affinity in the process.

This style of combat was passed down in full to his son who adapted to the merciless weather and training without complaint, mastering the magic at an alarming rate. By the age of 20 Artos had perfected every technique his father had developed over a lifetime of study and dedication. To the next challenge Artos claimed true mastery and further improved upon the style. A weapon forged just for his own hands was commissioned, a set of twin double edged longswords, blessed by his father and forged by a master smith, became extensions of his very being. Years down the road he would reforge the handles of these blades, making them much longer and allowing both to connect at the base of the hilt with its sister weapon. With this versatile arsenal it was without question that Artos had become a legend to his nameless home. Rather than seek the life of protecting his home and rearing a family of his own the lad set out to explore life beyond the chill winds and familiar scenary. Now he is a wandering blade master in seek of challenge.

Personality

Artos is a loyal and honest swordsman with strong loyalty to whomever has earned his services, believing in the ultimate concept of right and wrong, and adaptable to any situation. Artos displays little emotion in battle beyond the need to prove to himself that his mastery over blade and magic is superior, not to his opponents or his master, but to his father. Despite the serious nature of his being, Artos is still a pleasant and friendly person to be around when the fighting is over.

temporarily sacrifice summoner's vision and movement to see through the small mobile eye, if the
Gorgon's eye meets its gaze with a target, the target is dealt a brief blindness debuff,
Gorgon's Eye can also inflict a temporary freeze effect on weaker enemies

Zin: Lightning Element, large wolf-like beast, medium speed high damage attacks, can be rode

Man of War: Earth Element, humanoid with four arms, about 7 feet tall and very muscular,

to him before he will allow them to summon him.

Jessie possesses little magic beyond her summoning, very basic protection magic, just enough to prevent her summoning
from being interrupted. On top of that, she has a spell that allows her to convert living creatures that are
on the brink of death into new summons.

Backstory

Born into a clan of summoners and quickly identified as a talent, Jessie spent most of
her life throwing herself into her studies. While most members of her clan used summoning as a
groundwork to base their studies of general magic around, Jessie forsook other forms of magic and
thew everything she had into her knowledge of summoning. Her devotion to summoning eventually gained
her the ability to summon an arsenal of powerful creatures whereas most summoners only summoned
simple critters and elementals. Eventually, Jessie grew tired of living with her isolated clan and
ventured out to see the world. She traveled around for a while before returning home to Wanaka,
New Zealand and taking up snowboarding.

Personality

Jessie is a studious type, always marveling at new information. While her practice is focused on summoning, she has done plenty of research on other forms of magic, to learn how it works, despite having no interest in doing it herself.
Active, inquisitive, and adventurous, Jessie doesn't like to sit still for too long, and is always eager to explore
new places and try new things.

Backstory

Zuri has been sealed within a large dark crystal for thousands of years (roughly 2000) by a group of magic users due to her overwhelming ability to manipulate shadows and create darkness, which resulted in her being sealed up into a large crystal shard and hidden away within a catacomb. Her memories were lost as time goes by, distorted and shattered memories, she can only recall her name and rediscovers her ability to control darkness when she awakens. The crystal has started to give out dark energy from within the core, pulsing at a very slow rate.

Since Zuri wasn't born into this age and time, she doesn't know much about the current world. A factionless Talent without any friends and little to no memory of her own past. A clueless, mysterious and potentially dangerous girl.

Personality

Zuri lacks the ability to socialize with others due to the long period of time that she has been bound to the crystal, it's almost as if she's reborn as a blank slate but only feint memories of her past that could possibly change her. She's quite rebellious and can act a bit defensive if people try to get close to her at an unreasonably fast rate.

Zuri is quite simple-minded, willing to do anything to protect the people she likes and is quite direct with her thoughts, not giving a second thought to what she says and does not understand consequence. She doesn't like to keep her feelings bottled up and is quite vocal with her thoughts. She also says whatever she wants and acts upon her own instincts. Zuri has problems with following orders that she disagrees with, with few exceptions, but she can he kind and caring at times.

Alya has light blue eyes, fair skin and straight light blonde hair till slightly below her shoulders. She usually keeps her hair neatly tied up in a ponytail.
Alya wears the Grand-Magi's robes which are similar to the robes of Felix; except they are lacking the gold trim and the design of the patterns are less ornate and simpler.
Her aura is light blue (same as her eye color).

Alya uses an enchanted extendable metallic bo staff is 5'6" long when fully extended. When contracted it is around 1 foot long. When in use the ends of the staff glow faintly with magic.

Abilities

Alya specializes in defensive and restoration magic.

Being a Grand-Magi from the Catholic Arcanocracy she is still decent in other magical areas.
Her ability to heal extends from cuts all the way to broken or missing bones. While healing others is extremely simple for her; self-healing costs quite a bit of mana and is mentally and physically taxing.

Defensively she is able to shield herself and others with magical barriers which protect from either magical or physical attacks. Protecting from both types at once is possible, however this drains mana far more rapidly than normal.

Combat wise she is skilled with the use of her enchanted bo staff. She is able to channel her magic into the staff for various effects in combat ranging from increased kinetic force when striking all the way to the application of debilitating hexes.
The ends of her staff glow depending on the kind of enchantment she is currently channeling, by default the glow is light blue.

One of Alya's signature offensive spells involves causing temporary bone growth in her target causing severe pain and eventually paralysis. Continuous application may result in death from asphyxiation due to the lungs being unable to expand properly. However, Alya (and possibly other magic users) can reverse the bone growth with magic. This ability requires proximity to her target. (About striking distance of her staff.) The ability comes in stages of increasing intensity and requires Alya to maintain concentration on channeling the ability. Interrupting her during this ability will result it quickly receding to the last stage. The hex will wear off after a few minutes if not reapplied.

Alya's presence also has a calming and soothing effect to those nearby. She is able to suppress this effect at will.

Backstory

All Alya knew nothing of her parents. She was inducted to the Catholic Arcanocracy as a child and there she was raised. From a young age she was taught; told that she had a special talent.
As she grew so did her abilities. Her tutors quickly discovered her knack for healing magic, and they quickly refined it and honed the talent while still covering other basics of magic.

Starting from her early teen years she was taught combat and how to use the bo staff and how to mix her magic offensively with it. Alya protested to her tutors that a weapon would be unnecessary for what she wanted to do, but they always told her not to question their orders. Her peers occasionally poked fun at her for doing so. She did not let this affect her and she quickly surpassed many of them in terms of magical application with her weapon.

Alya eventually began experimenting with her healing magic, finding different ways of application. This allowed her to develop various offensive spells which she continued to master.
She rose through the ranks of the Catholic society and eventually achieving the rank of Grand-Magi at the age of 24.

From here on Alya continued to prove to be one of the best and most skilled healers in the Catholic Arcanocracy till the current day.

Alya is compassionate. She sees value in each life and does her best to help those around her.
Alya shows qualities of a leader; able to take charge and can maintain composure under pressure.
She dislikes conflict and will try to solve situations peacefully, however she is not a stranger to combat, and she will defend herself if necessary.

When dealing with others Alya tries her best to be accommodating and friendly. She is emphatic and is able to maintain friendly relations with others most of the time.
On the times she disagrees with someone she would voice her opinion and would be open to listening to what others would have to say about theirs.

Arko, as a Tarot mage, has an incredible array of abilities as well as a level of mastery over them that one would have to be immortal to achieve. These abilities are tied to the Tarot deck he carries, however, and he is only capable of using a few based on which card or suite is active.

Switching between or to the Minor Arcana is easy and rapid, whereas switching to or between the Major Arcana is not that much harder but is not likely to be done in the heat of combat or under pressure.

Arko is not incapable of magic without an active card, but is only capable of minor manipulation of arcane energy, only able to fire small bolts, create a shield, or extend the range of his swordspear by channeling it off the blade.

Backstory

Arko was born as part of a small nomadic tribe in the far north. Though he was a talent born with a larger the usual reserve of mana he seemed to have no way of using it, a few years of training had only resulted in the absolute basic abilities of magic. It was becoming a source of frustration for both him and his trainers until and elder came to him with a gift: A Tarot deck, the cards acting as a focus for him, granting him the abilities for the power he held.

Arko's clan eventually found itself caught in the middle of a vicious rivalry between two larger clans, as travel became dangerous Arko joined the small group of guardians responsible for fending off raiding parties from both sides of the conflict, it wouldn't last long however, as when one clan beat the other Arko's clan accepted the inevitable and agreed to assimilate into the now much larger clan. It was during the transition that Arko, along with a few others, decided to leave, going their separate ways out onto the world.

Personality

Arko is a friendly and gentle person but is more likely to smile at his companions than to say anything, being a rather quiet individual, Though through the armor he is usually wearing his passive demeanor and silence often just leads to the effect of stoicism and making him seem uncaring. Yet despite his normally gentle and friendly nature he can be a rather fierce combatant and is more that willing to stare down death in defense of his friends, to the point of accepting his fate if it ensures the survival of those closest to him, though he has proven difficult to kill.

Basic Appearance: As the picture suggests, she is one of the few in the Lunar Coven to fully devote herself to the more animalistic side of their magic, having developed a purplish fur and skin across her body, a tail, and oversized wolf ears. However, unlike most within her specialized group, she has studied the other magics in conjunction, producing an artifact that may cast the illusion of her former appearance.

This appearance is that of an averaged-sized, if beautiful, woman in her late 20’s. Though her clothes may change to suit the occasion, she is most commonly in street clothes; tee-shirts and jeans. However, she does consistently wear a small gold necklace with a wolf charm, in both forms, into which the illusion magic is imbedded. Her eyes are silver, and her hair does come out purple now, though it used to be brown. The most common excuse she uses is that she dyes it.
Zoey uses a her clawed feet and and pouch of throwing stars as her primary weapons.

Abilities
Passive:
Wulvmorph: She is able to smell and hear better than normal humans, and has the ability to see clearly at night. She is also more agile and resistant to injury
Lunar communication: She is able to understand and communicate simple messages with and through creatures of the night. These include things such as bats, wolves, and similarly disposed creatures.
Alchemical experience: She has a proficient knowledge in night time flora and their uses, typically applied to wounds and antitoxins.
Illusory-form: She can pass off easily as a normal human with good senses because of her pendant, which is easily charged.
Active:
Shapeshift: She is able to shapeshift at will into a wolf, which dramatically increases her ground speed and agility. She is still able to cast magic out of this wolf form, meaning that if she were ever trapped as a wolf she would still be able to communicate and uphold her duties.
Illusion magic: She is able to cast a quick spell for minimal affect: Speech out of wolf form, a brief vision, a flash of light, etc. with no preparation. Otherwise, depending on the complexity of the spell, and the distance of the illusory site from her casting zone, there can be a substantial set-up time for the spell.
Teleport: She is able to teleport up to a distance of about 20 yards without preparation. Other distance may require anywhere from a 40 minutes to an entire week to prepare for.
Noctalance: A lance of silver life that causes a freezing puncture wound, called from above. It is most effective at night with a full moon, but can be used to affect even in the day. (Though at such times they are little more than needles the size of a toothpick.)
Shadow dance: A highly complex maneuver of shadow magic, it uses two steps. Manipulation of shadows and darkness, and a unique, highly specialized teleport that requires those shadows. The effect is a blindingly fast teleport that can be used to apply rapid strikes to a target, typically one per teleport. It looks like passing through liquid shadows to pop out of another liquid shadow.
Moon’s Bounty: A small-scale healing and stabilization magic, it involves drawing a crescent rune on the target and charging it with magic, which will ensure the target won’t die of something physical and slowly heal them over time, for as long as the rune persists. The mark is low-energy, but also generally doesn’t heal much more than a scraped knee in it’s duration unless it is charged beyond. The direct-spell version of this would feel like getting dunked in ice water, and coming out with fresh, but the feeling is described as, “Undesirable, to be used only if the person would otherwise die. Because they would otherwise wish that they had.”


Backstory
Zoey is from a town called Billings, a relatively large town in Montana. Her story of joining the Lunar Coven is actually one of the less eventful ones: she was approached one night while she was in college and accepted. A talent, she quickly acquired her skills within the Coven and acquired the title of Acolyte. As an acolyte, she established herself as one of the best, able to easily practice in the large, open ground of her home state, and train in the rougher, mountainous regions also found in the unremarkable stretch. Eventually, she reached a status of elitism. Having chosen to pursue transformation magic, this culminated in a visit from “the Aspect of the Wolf,” a spirit entity of the highest rank within their order, though also not human. She received it’s blessing, becoming infused with it’s power to become the creature she is today. She still faithfully serves the Coven, believing in their work to make the night a little less bumpy for the more ignorant humans of her region.

Personality
Cheerful, though both independent and private, she is used to going long times with only brief social contact. While she isn’t overly rude, she does speak her mind and may occasionally misspeak, missing a social clue or such. That said, she is concerned with helping people, and will act in the way she believes will help humans. She believes herself to be a good person, and still human. While she is used to such comments now, it still will sting her pride if she is referred to anything else.

She does not get angry often, but if she is made to become angry, she tends to act quickly and explosively. Such outbursts do not usually involve violence, but it is still not recommended.

Stand's at around 5 feet, 2 inches. She has a medium, modestly thin build. Of course, most the notable features are the wings on her body. two large, brown white tipped wings sprout from her lower back, near her center of mass as well as a feathered tail. She uses her wings to fly and her tail to steer in the air, acting as a rudder of sorts. She also has two head wings, appearing just a little ways above the ears. These are fairly sensitive, allowing her to pick up the most minor changes in wind speed, direction, and air pressure. The most consistent pieces of her outfit is the red scarf and wing shrouds she wears. The scarf was a gift from her grandfather, who had received it from the farming family that had sheltered him. The shrouds for her wings were a gift from her mother.

Abilities

Child of the Storm
Ava can manipulate the air currents around her, being able to create powerful gusts of wind. This can be used in a variety of different ways, whether it be giving her an extra boost in flight, or sending a potential foe hurdling into a wall. However, due to Ava's very isolated upbringing and current life, she has had little chance to truly explore and train her powerful magic. Anything more advanced she has yet to learn, but this mastery over the air could prove incredibly destructive and powerful, if given the right teacher.

For Ava could, in theory, do far more crueler, deadlier things to a man with this magic. This could range from sucking the air out of a man's lungs, chocking him to death. A ball of condensed, highly pressurized atmosphere that could explode with the force of a bomb. Generate deadly pressure waves that could burst organs, no matter their protection. The possibilities and versatility of this power is incredible.

But, as said before, Ava lacks any sort of training, knowledge, or discipline in the arcane arts. Her abilities are only the results of her own personal training and experimentation, in secret.

Backstory (Warning, its a bit of a read)

It was a cold night in the Austro-Hungarian Empire on October 26th, 1856, a man named David Kurier awoke with a start. He was suddenly possessed with inspiration by vision he had witness in his dreams. David had been given a message from God, asking him to use his Talent to ascend the human race into the heavens to be one with God, reaching a true state of nirvana. He saw winged angels, all flying up towards Heaven and God, all seemingly forever content with life. This dream, this vision inspired... no... drove the man to a near maddening obsession of realizing the true potential of humanity.

David began to poor endlessly over magic text and research. He began to experiment, first with animals, on manipulating the physical attributes of living beings. It had always been known, at the time, that magic could have an affect on one's physical self. Curses could degrade the health of a man, magical attacks could destroy the biology of a creature, however, not a whole lot had been research on reconstructing and modifying a living being's physical form with the use of magic. You see, David decided the best way to realize his vision... was to take it very, very literally. He wanted to change the very appearance and abilities of the human race to be more... angelic. Thus he began his quest to refine his skills as a Talent and experiment endlessly on animals to see if what he wanted was even achievable.

At first, his work was promising. He became very familiar with the arts of Transmutation and studied some the minor, ancient pagan beliefs of animal spirit worship and familiars. These seem to always have a physical affect on the worshipers, gradually manipulating their bodies to be more beastly. However, David soon learned that changing a human to be more angelic was not the biggest hurdle. No, he understood that it was only the first third of the puzzle. The second third was arguably much more important to realizing his dream. None of these transformations were permanent throughout generations.

In order for the human race, as a whole, to evolve into a more angelic species, needed to be bread into the race itself. All of David's initial research only proved that humans could be physically shaped into angelic looking beings, yet very little showed any evidence that these new traits could be passed down for generations. Sure the methods could be, but not the blood. No, it had to be by blood, David could not trust that his decedents will continue his practice. Night after night, David pondered this dilemma, this curse of a problem that....

"That's it..." David thought. A curse! There were well known curses that were very much inherited by the new generation. The term "Sins of our Fathers" isn't just simply there for a metaphor. Blessings and curses were known to be passed down through families by blood, not by ritual or methods. If he could create a curse.. no.. a blessing of his own, then all of his decedents and there after could inherit the wonderful physical and magical traits of angelic beings!

This is when David Kurier began to warrant the attention of the Catholic Church. Catholicism had always had a major presence in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but had little care for a strange Talent's odd obsessions. But they did begin to care at this point, as this was the point when David began his first human experiments.

He had met and married a woman by the name of Katherine. She was won over, practically enchanted by David's vision for the future human race, and began to aid him in his en devours, acting as a willing test subject. Her father, however, was a devout man of the faith, so when he soon realized what was really going on between David and his daughter, Katherine, he began to investigate further. In some sense, by the time the Catholic Arcanocracy fully intervened, they were too late.

After years upon years and a full generation of children, David had perfected his so called "Blessing" and traits. Katherine had been manipulated by David's magic and had given birth to the first generation of what David called the "Avian Race". That child had grown up to marry his own wife, and have two sons, who also had the traits of the Avian race. The vision that had happened so long ago, the dream that one day, humanity may ascend into the heavens to live among angels and God seemed start to finally come to fruition.

However, the Catholics had not been idle, and after many years of their own investigation into the magic used by David Kurier, they deemed him and his entire bloodline an affront to their religion, decrying him as a heretic and an inhumane monster who experimented on his own family. History has left few details as to what the investigative report said, but Ava could never truly know if the church was right in their claims of inhumanity against her great, great grandfather.

By now, David was an old man, and was easily taken into custody, however his son, and his grandchildren did not go so quietly. They had tried to fight back, first through the courts, but they were swiftly booted out. The Catholics demanded that they surrender themselves and their children to the church custody, were they were to be immediately sterilized and contained. They tried to flee, but only one of the Kuriers were able to slip through the church's hands, the youngest of the two brothers. This young boy, Jakob Kurier, was Ava's grandfather.

He escaped southward, often taking the rougher paths and unused roads, as it was nearly impossible to hide his avian like features. As he traveled, he grew more and more hateful of his grandfather's curse. It was the reason why he was homeless, without family nor food. He continued to wander the countryside, stealing when he could, just barely surviving. He reached the Alps, where he finally collapsed in exhaustion.

There, a farming family had found him and taken the young man in. Jakob was a mess of young boy, but stuck to what few principles he still believed in from his family and decided to help this farming family in return for their kindness. He worked on this farm, soon living in the nearby village of Walde, high in the mountains and far from the Catholic's gaze. Little did he know that thanks to his mother and father's resolve, they were able to convince the authorities that they only had one son. So, Jakob began to build a new life.

In the beginning, he wanted revenge against the church, but as he lived in this peaceful village, he realized that he was getting revenge right now. Just by the mere act of existing on his own free will, by continuing his family's line, he was defying the church, proving that they had ultimately failed in their goal. Thus, Jakob began to make himself as useful as he could in this small community, earning respect and love of its residents. He fell in love with the farm girl of the family that had saved him and they married. He had one child, a son, who he named David after his grandfather, and lived the rest of his life in peace.

Now this is when Ava finally entered the picture. She was born in January on a cold day in winter. By then, the village had come to love the Kuriers, and quietly protected them through mostly passive means. Her family had gained much respect, thanks to her father and her grandfather's good nature determination and hard work. Now most of her ancestors, like her Grandfather, were not actually Talented. In fact, the final, third piece to David Kurier's ultimate goal, was to modify the very mana power of humanity, so that all could be that of Talent. The Catholic Arcanocracy had put a stop to him from ever even coming close to that goal, thus when he died, so did his Talent. However Ava was the first in her family after three generations, to inherit this aptitude for powerful magic.

When it was discovered that Ava possessed Talent, it was kept underwraps. Ava's father forbid her from experimenting with her magic or using it for anything other than aiding her ability to fly. But that never really stopped Ava from secretly testing her powers. Even to this day, she has a secret spot in the mountains were she try out new spells and abilities whenever she can learn them.

When Ava became older, she took up an apprenticeship with the local postman, working essentially as a paperboy, but with more than just the daily news. She would be commonly scene flying from home to home in the countryside, delivering mail with a smile. Though, Ava has grown more and more anxious over the years. She doesn't want to stay coupe up in this small village. There was a vast, unexplored world out there, and Ava knew it.

Personality

Ava is a strong willed, friendly individual who has one hell of a backbone. Despite her humble upbringings, Ava is particularly quick witted and smart, being able to learn things at an astounding rate. Generally speaking, she will be kind and polite to those she initially meets, however to her closer friends, she can be shockingly foul mouthed, sarcastic, and even somewhat rude. She seems almost frustrated, angered that she has yet to meet anyone who truly functions at her level. To put it simply, in such a small, isolated mountain village, Ava lacks any sort of equal peer to confide in. Her lust for knowledge and adventure is not shared with many of the townspeople whether it be those of her age or older, so while she gets along with everyone, Ava still feels so... alone.
