Hiya, AChronum here! Although I'm relatively new to rping, I have plenty of writing experience and love trying new genres and styles. I absolutely love high magic fantasy RPs and am pretty much willing to do anything so long as I can create a charaxter, not play an existing one, and develop lots and lots of backstory! I'm perfectly comfortable with all mature themes as well, although smut for smut's sake is out of the question.

Interested in an RP? Send me a PM and have a magically marvelous day!

Kajin blinked at the spineless auctioneer. That was it, a little threat and suddenly he’d hand over everything? Wasn’t he supposed to put up some resistance or call some thugs to defend his profits? Honestly, Kajin was more surprised he didn’t call the Brass Blades himself. True to their Ul’dahan roots, they accepted “protection money” from even the seediest merchants as long as it didn’t cross their Syndicate owner’s interests. This Tilman seemed to fall solidly in the seedy category. But all’s well that ends well, even if Kajin’s wand finger felt a little twitchy. He really considered doing something anyways, a fun little parting gift, and he may have raised his staff but no. That was an irresponsible use of magic and aetherically advanced thaumaturges cast responsibly. He gave the pair a jaunty little wave and followed the Miqo'te out the door, only a sigh escaping once the door shut behind them.

Instead, he turned his attention to the flirting cat. Not even so much as a peep of acknowledgement, a yes or a greeting or even a “Lets go”, but no a single problem jumping into this. Kajin stared deadpanned at the cat, his feathers more than a touch ruffled but he pushed past it. Apparently, the problem child stereotype was strong in this one. Especially since the kitten hadn’t even bother telling the person who lost their home belongs that eh managed to get it back! Kajin shook his head. The kitten was going to be a headache, he could feel it already.

“He got the stuff from Tilman.” Kajin said, explaining the important parts that the kitten couldn’t be bothered too. “He gave up a list of everything sold already as well so we can probably hunt it down if it’s important enough. Said there was a cart out here with all your stuff inside too.” Kajin glanced around, picking out the Padjal from the crowd.

Relief flooded James when Casper mentioned drugs, thinking he had a prescription for the issue. He felt bad not being able to do more than hold the guy but medicine would hopefully give him some form of relief. He plucked the bottle out of Casper’s pocket and looked at the label, hoping it would have some sort of dosage. James was pretty sure this wasn’t a prescription bottle. Those were normally the clear orange bottles right or was that the usual thing and it changed based on medication? James honestly had little to zero understanding about medication so he checked the instructions. James took out a pill and snapped it in half, as according to the recommendations, and held it up to Casper’s mouth as he tucked the bottle into his own pocket.

“Here, take this. I don’t have any water though.” James instructed. He had a nagging feeling something was a little off but he shook it off. The poor guy was seeing dead people, someone recently and violently deceased, so James figured something to help take the edge off wasn’t entirely unwarranted if movies were right about how angry and violent they could get. He’d probably turn to anything that could help him too. But that didn’t mean it could keep going if they were working as a team. This stuff seemed pretty serious and with people actively trying to kill them, they needed everyone at 100%. Interested in the guy or not, James was going to sit him down and have a conversation about what the hell all this entailed. “Do you want to head inside or do you want to stay here for a bit?” He asked softly as the car came to a stop. The important stuff would happen after he’d calm down. Maybe talking to Casper’s brother would help too.

“I’ll be keeping you as long as it takes to ensure my sister believes I questioned you three thoroughly otherwise, she’d likely subject you to a wide range of interrogation practices. Most of her preffered methods are a step away from torture.” Ryner responded to Max. “I know locking you away is less than ideal but there are few places on campus she won’t violate in her search so I put you away somewhere even she isn’t foolish enough to overstep without reason. I’m sorry it upsets you but I am doing my best to l keep you safe at the moment.”

Ryner evaluated Eris with wry amusement as she considered isi offer. “As much as it feels like making a deal with our mutual colleague, I’d only be too happy to accept your assistance. Keeping this as quiet as possible and reducing the visibility of your three’s involvement is a high priority after securing the campus again.” Ryner leaned back against the desk, smoothing out a few wrinkles on her jacket. “I am curious about the expected reciprocity. One good deed deserves another afterall.” Ryner’s attention shifted as a faint knock echoed in the office, eyes taking on a far away look as she seemed to look past the door into the office for a few moments, but she was back quickly enough, her smile strained at the edges.

“They’re shutting down the campus.” Dennis said quietly, his face pale and his voice trembling. He hadn’t loosened his grip on Amaris at all. It took him a few moments to process Amaris’ request but he nodded slowly at her. He blinked, his attention returning to the present and he tried to smile, strained at the edges but a smile nonetheless. “Ye-yeah. I think, uh, I think I can do that. We should start heading back to the dorms. Do you think you can stay with me on the way? I don’t want to be alone right now.” Dennis admitted quietly, clearly embarrassed as he looked anywhere but Amaris.

“And of course, I’d find a way to pay you back. One good deed deserves another afterall.” Dennis promised.

“I don’t care about your pretend titles. Nothing but pretty, shiny names so vampires can lord themselves around, inflate their pathetic, fragile egos to forget that they’ve gotten soft.” The vampiress spat, pushing off her spot and circling Victor, sizing him up. “And you specifically mean absolutely nothing to me. Killing you would only be a waste of time. The only vampire I mean to kill if it comes to it is Ryner but not tonight. Tonight I want her to break over her little herd. All these cattle she rounded up and doing nothing with them.” The woman laughed bitterly.

“That’s what broke her in the first place. The things she has done! If they knew, what she did all those years ago, what we did, how we “reveled”, they wouldn’t put her on some pathetic pedestal. If you think this is bad, you should see some of the benders we went on. We’d starve ourselves as we wandered the world, only eating when we found an entire human settlement to sate our appetites. The four of us could drain a village in a blink of an eye. The vampiress sighed. “We terrorized the night. Every few years we’d split and see how many places we could obliterate, how many families we could decimate. I always had the lead but Ryner was always on my heels. And then the wars started and poof, Ryner became the poster girl for lame. Sent a friend of hers to leave us with stakes in our chests and a sunrise to greet. Good thing I knew a few tricks.” She stopped circling, back away from him to stand next to the edge of the building closest to the water.

“Why did you have to get in the way? Everything was going perfectly. Mostly. Truth be told, I wanted one more before they scared the herd back to their pens but that can be overlooked. It’s much easier to kill them all when they’re all locked up in close quarters.” The woman tapped her finger thoughtfully against her cheek. “I guess I will have to kill you before I can go get them.” And she lunged, closing the gap with a single step and hand going for the throat.

James hesitated a moment, more prepared to give him space than not, but wrapped Casper in a hug quickly. Physical affection came easily to James so he had little issue arranging them into a more comfortable position. Casper’s words made James frown as he considered them more closely. Afraid of ghosts? Bringing her mom back? It didn’t really seem to make any sense. Right up until Waverly caught his attention for a moment and then everything clicked in rapid succession. Waverly lost a parent and specifically her mother, the only “her” James would reasonably know and thus the vagueness. Said mother was dead and James clearly couldn’t see her which lead to one conclusion…

The whole “Ben” issue suddenly made a lot more sense.

James chewed on his lip as he grappled with the idea of ghosts being real. Despite being raised in a God fearing household, he never really invested any emotional energy into it. It seemed like a lot of stuff that he could deal with another time. There was always a more pressing concern and who cared about the afterlife so early. It just wasn’t something he wasted energy on and now he was holding a man who saw these things constantly, had a dead person as a constant companion, and knew what happened after the body passed. At least to some degree. The thought was sobering and James absently ran his fingers soothingly through Casper’s hair as he stared blankly out the car. It seemed horror movies got one thing right: the dead did unintentionally prey on those who could see them if Casper’s fear was anything to go by.

Waverly dragged him out of the onsetting existential dread and he just shook his head at her once Sapphire threw whichever tantrum this was today. “I think now’s a bad time. We’ll regroup, check out the new place, and hopefully get everyone settled down.” James spoke softly, trying to avoid that line of questioning. They didn’t need another person panicking right now. “You’re safe right now Casper. We’ve got you.”

It took approximately two seconds for James to change his mind. The situation wasn’t bad before. If anything, it was mildly inconveniencing because now it was an absolute disaster. Casper just started screaming, Sapphire cause whatever was going on behind them now, things were just appearing out of the woman’s chest, and frankly James was starting to get there feeling he was way out of his league here. He just came along after getting caught up in Sunshine and Max’s mess, decided to try and help out, and in the past 48 hours brought someone back from the brink of death, put a ton of children back together, and was now being shot at while attempting to save the people who caused the issues with the children in the first place! Thank whoever neither Sunshine nor Max where here. James could only imagine the chaos either individual would have added to the disaster of a mission or whatever this was.

Casper’s screaming cut through the overwhelmed daze James found himself in―mental note, avoid Sapphire as much as possible now―and he turned his attention to the panicking man. James had absolutely no idea how to handle this or what he was even carrying on about but he could try. “Casper, Casper. What’s going on? Can you focus on me? Can we help you? Who’s botherin’ you?” He reached out to him but he froze. Maybe touching him would make it worse? Maybe it would help? James wasn’t an expert in people and he once again felt way out of his depth. He just wanted the screaming to stop; the panic and fear was palpable and maybe it was something he could do in a situation he felt powerless.

Well, this was a shitty situation if he ever saw one. With basically no way out but luck―James sincerely doubted even a professional race car driver could outrun the cops in this van―things were looking a little dicey and staying out of jail after robbing a hospital and being involved in a fight that definitely ended in property damage was high on his list of priorities. They needed to figure out a way to change the terms of the chase and thankfully, this van was full of people who could do just that. “Sapphire, do you think you’d be okay swapping places with someone else and work on freezing roads? Or do it while your driving? If we can slick some turns behind us, it’ll force them to slow down or risk spinning out and give us some breathing room to work on something. I know swapping while driving is risky but hey, we’re being shot at.”

James expected that plan to get ripped to shreds in a heartbeat but honestly, he hated the idea of waking either of these people up. If dastardly duo wanted them dead, trapped in a metal box and unable to get out at high speeds was a fucking holiday gift wrapped up in a pretty little bow. James tsked in frustration since there was basically nothing he could do but spitball ideas. This wasn’t really a situation he could fix real quick with a tool box and a few hours and that annoyed the hell out of him. What else could they do? A distraction would be nice but that was mostly on Feedback. He’d say he wished Max was here because he could do some crazy shit but the last time the guy was being chased, it hadn’t ended well and no one needed more of that.

“Just a thought, and maybe it isn’t good but it’s a last resort. Do we know where the bar the rest of the group went to? We could regroup and if things are as dark the previous info suggested, it might be enough to stall the cops into calling back up and we can slip away through in the meantime?” James suggested with a grimace, not really liking it himself. But if they could stall long enough and regroup, maybe they’d stand a better chance.

James met Sapphire’s glare with a confused one. He still wasn’t really sure why she decided to dislike him immediately; as far as he was aware, he hadn’t done anything specific to upset her outside of giving her the honest truth. He hadn’t voiced any of his prior opinions specifically to avoid upsetting her but apparently he couldn’t even do that right. He’d have to think a little more on that. Making enemies out of the people he was going to be working with was the last thing he wanted to do but apparently the good doctor made a judgement about him. He couldn’t resist a soft sigh at the thought but that wasn’t something to be considering right now.

“That’s niffy.” James commented on her ice slide, following it quickly to the car and holding open the door for everyone else to plie in first. If the police showed up, he felt confident he could eat a few bullets without straining the Underground’s thinly spread resources already. As long as someone was willing to dig the metal out of him of course. Hopefully, Sapphire’s commitment to the Hippocratic Oath applied to more than enemies. He looked at the unconscious blaster and bit back another sigh. He;d seen what the man could do to support pillars. Hopefully, they wouldn’t have to find out what he could do to a van going 75 down a highway.

“Well, this should be exciting. Instill Tenacity.” Aura shined a faint rainbow hue for a few moments before returning to normal. That would give her a bit more to eat hits with. Area monsters that spawned in retaliation to farm parties were normally a bit tougher than their level suggested so it wouldn’t hurt to keep Aura well defended.

“Enfeeble.” A sickly green wisp slithered around the Treant, cutting it’s strength a little. Hopefully, the combo of Buffs and debuffs would help keep Aura from needing too much healing next round. “Alright, keep an eye out. We don’t have a lot to go on so watch your step. It might be able to manipulate the plants around us if it’s anything like other games. We don’t want to get ambushed by adds.” She kept her wand at the ready, the Weaken Magic spell on the tip of her tongue if it tried to do something outside of the expected physical attacks. She stuck close to River, wanting to feed off that wonderful battery of magic she was used to.

The Treant barely responded as the Stunned debuff ticked upwards from 5 seconds to 20 seconds, its mouth going slack and eyes dimming momentarily. The purple fog seeping out of its mouth whirled around everyone coming in melee range but dissipated far too quickly to have any real effect. Inside the still Treant, the Shadows writhed furiously as their giggling sharpened into a shrill scream. Two of the blue orbs were being ripped to shreds by the other shadows and massive bolt of blue energy blasts out of the yawning abyss. The energy barely dimmed as Willow caught the spell with her own but its still slammed directly into Aura’s shield, massively damaging the Paladin. A notification popped up on her dashboard, warning of a 25% reduction in all equipped item durability.

The Treant stirred after the assault, blinking its eyes and howling in anger. The roots writhing in it’s legs pushed themselves into the ground and the Treant settled into the spot. A tiny green emblem reading Ingrain appeared beneath the Monster’s health bar, timed at 2 minutes, and suddenly its health shot up by 1000. More shadows poured out from its mouth, one for each player, and rose above each player. They took on the silhouette of children, giggling and dancing around the players before all but the one in front of willow vanished. The shadow giggled and said in a sing song voice, You’re it!.

Prome’s crafting went quickly and efficiently, his smithing skill high enough to knock out the required steel in almost no time at all. Ten steel bars sat in his inventory after little more than ten minutes with plenty of time to spare on his purchased smithy spot.

“No. You just got the pampered slimeball.” The detective replied, breaking just about every road law as she sped down the road. “For holidays, the Princess releases most of the guard from their duties and fills in for the shifts. I’m sure you don’t need me to spell out the rest.” The car came to a hard stop in front of the front gates and detective Foster yanked open the doors and stomped off, clearly expecting them to follow.

The campus buzzed with activity although the energetic, joyous revelry had since faded. More and more campus guard appeared with and even a few members of the Royal guard made an appearance. Rides and stalls were being shut down in sections, announcements over the loudspeaker claiming damage to several of the event’s power lines were too much of a fire hazard and that everything should be operation come the next sunset.

The trio were escorted into the administrative building and straight into the Princess’ office with some practiced ducking of the royal guard. Ryner herself was speaking with another member of the guard, dismissing the obsidian clad man with a few sharp words and turned her attention to the fourth coming in unannounced. The armored vampire stared suspiciously at the group but hurried out after Ryner cleared her throat expectantly.

“These three were at the scene, Ryner. Grumpy cat here said it was Mr. Samuel who interacted with the body. Don’t think they had anything to do with this mess but thought you’d take someone’s head off if your sister’s lap dogs go their teeth in them..”

“Thank you, Abigail. I’ll handle them from here. I’ll be at the scene in a moment.” Abigail nodded and, after reviewing the photo Salem took and quickly dismissing it, was out the door. The Princess looked over her students solemnly for a few moments and gestured for them to take a seat in the two chairs in front of her desk.

“I’m sorry that you saw what you did. It must have been a horrific discovery but he situation is being handled as we speak. In the meantime, may I offer you a drink? It may be a while until you’re released. If you wish to discuss what you encountered, then I am more than happy to hear but it is understandable if you don’t wish to do so. If you wish to forget about the previous events, I have a wide variety of historical texts here I find serve as an excellent distraction from the unpleasant and horrific.” As she spoke, Ryner pulled out a few bottles of sparkling water and blood along side a few glasses. She moved her own chair around the desk, setting it next to the other two so everyone could sit.

“You want me to what?” Dennis blinked a few times at the vampire, disbelief ringing in every word. “You want me to keep an eye on things? I… I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone ask me to be invlved in this. Its always “Get the fuck out of my head” or “We don’t need some freak han-.” Dennis shut up quickly, the color draining from his face as he gripped Amaris’ arm tightly.

“Someone’s dead. Holy fuck, Eris was next to a dead body?!” Dennis whispered, horrified. “There… there are three dead bodies… That’s…”

“Do you hear or see anything around the body or in the immediate vicinity?: The emergency responder on the line asked. However, there was a soft thud behind Victor and a woman laughing softly as she leaned on one of the conditioning units. The woman wore a smug smirk, covered in dried blood that coated her face and neck. The green and silver remnants of the dress she wore clung to her in tatters but blood decorated it just as thoroughly.

“I thought I may have more time enjoying the show but I guess it’s time to have more fun. I’m glad, the thrill of an easy hunt was wearing off.” She shoved off the appliance and closed the distance, a challenge in her eye. Her stance was relaxed but it was clear she was ready for a fight.
