@mnkee They basically give major benefits to those who go into the military in order to influence more to join. Also slight propaganda to subtly make military life seem like a really good choice. Then as a result to that many more become stronger. Hence the taking survival of the fittest into their own hands thing. I guess you could consider the way King Herrick goes about being a father as tyrannical. He is harsh on his children only because he wants them to be strong. The kingdom doesn't oppress the people unless it's specific people who have close ties to a terrorist group or seem as if they are defecting to an enemy kingdom. Most of the people though would say they enjoy living in the kingdom unless they are very poor or dislike the fighting.

@mnkee I wouldn't describe his kingdom as tyrannical. Yes, they are extremely militaristic, but they aren't oppressive to their own people.
