@AlternateMan So, his powersuit is a modified utility suit that can survive in space and that while it's MEANT for work, his people mod these things to be effective in combat against the Space Pirates and such, right? This seems reasonable to me.
@Kazemitsu Lemme know when you give this boy a history, because we've already established that I'm okay with his design.
Yep. Miner turned warriors. I was going to introduce stuff like cloaking for suit too but thought it didn't really fit the concept. Maybe it could happen later. I don't know.
Alright, here we go, my first draft of my bounty hunter.
Metroid Final Protocol
Name: Vekt Alias: “the bounty miner” Age: 127 Gender: male Species: Vergisian Occupation: bounty hunter Residence: Ferra IV (made up planet, obviously) A desert planet, with harsh environments and often sandstorms on the surface. The rich minerals hidden under the surface lead a patch of Vergisians to settle on this planet, creating countless mining sites over the planet.
Physical Description: Vergisians are bipedal species with the physique of comparably short adult humans, standing around 150~160cm. They have six fingers(think if it as having an extra thumb on the other side), which are perfect for complex, accurate movements. The group Vekt is a part of is a tribe that moved over to Ferra IV not long before they were discovered by the Galactic Federation(which dates far back from current day). They have pale grey skin, similar to the ones of zombies from certain movies. Their eyes have vertical pupils. Except for that their physical traits are nearly the exact same to humans- only stronger and easier to survive in extreme conditions. They lived on the planet, mining minerals that were mostly sent back home. Before the species officially joined the Federation and went under their protection the planet had to suffer from various attacks eyeing the precious resources, including the infamous Space Pirates and many rogues who seeked to loot them. This resulted in the Vergesians to excel not only in mining, but in improvised weaponries.
Vekt is a Vergisian standing at 156 cm, which is a bit taller than Vergisian average(154 cm). He has little scars here and there on his arms, especially on his right one. He is missing a thumb on his right hand, which is replaced by a robotic one.
Personality: Calm, yet reckless in some situations. Vekt can remain calm even in the face of death after years of mining and fighting experiences. This also allows him to make extreme choices without hesitation, sometimes seeming selfless. He is also a fluent coworker, able to cooperate with most types of people and species. The problem would be his wisdom. Vekt may be a decent fighter with the skill to craft a handful of improvised explosives to chuck at unsuspecting enemies, but he’s not a mastermind at planning things. Without aid of his friendlies he may easily walk into traps without suspicion and hesitation.
Equipment/Cabilities: -Powered suit, Ferra IV style: A powered suit modified by Vekt for “various uses”, originally designed for Vergisians that operated in space to repair the mineral transporting vessels, and, sometimes, engage any hostiles that try to approach the ship. It has life support system and multiple propulsion engines on the limbs and back.
-Modified energy tool: A modified mining multitool, so that it fits more for combat purposes. It is a wrist mounted retractable metal blade with an operating handle(like a baton fixed to your arm with a blade on it), able to be powered with energy to slice through most types of metal known to the Federation. While in that state the blade can be used to shoot energy projectile by rapidly vibrating. Can shoot a beam of energy for a short moment when it is charged enough. Can also be used for welding, but requires metal rods to do so effectively.
-Vergesian minor class gunship: A small Vergesian gunship, ideal for 1~2 pilots. Vekt modified it so it could withstand long voyages, and added various features such as crude med bay, workspace for crafting weaponry and stuff, scanner, and a cloaking system.
-IED’s: Sometimes mining business requires high powered explosives, and Ferra IV wasn’t an exception. Using knowledge earned on his homeworld, Vekt is capable of using IED’s, varying in power and effects depending on what resources he’s given to make them with.
History: Vekt was born to a miner family, like all others on Ferra IV. He went deep down the surface, mined minerals out of hard, worthless rocks, and moved on to space where he guarded his tribe’s transport vessels. He would’ve ended as an ordinary Vergisian if he lived this way, but things changed a bit. His hometown ran into a small crisis, when a group of bandits raided their village and looted them quite bad. Many were wounded, with great loss in their finaces. Vekt volunteered as a bounty hunter hired by the Federation, to help his village live on. He settled as a skilled bounty hunter later on, utilizing the crude yet deadly tools he had acquired from his homeworld, to hunt down his bounty.
So I was thinking of some kind of an energy blade main guy... and I realized @EnterTheHero's char concept has plasma blades. I'm trying to keep things unique and stuff, so I'm willing to change my concept if you want me to.
Oooh, a METROID RP! Strange coincidence, I was looking up Metroid Prime 3 gameplays a bit before. And got a small craving of Metroid. The games are awesome(though I only played Prime Hunters).
I’m more than excited to say I’m interested in this, but I won’t really be able to participate here for a few days, as I have exams coming up.
If Lee had the choice to wear his combat gear out of combat, he'd gently reject the offer. Even though he liked his job he didn't have the willpower to keep the gear on the whole time. Even if he was invited to a super elite special forces of the best operators of the world. Instead of sitting inside the full armor gear for the whole time he wore only the top and the pants of his military uniform, just so that ones who knew would recognize what Brigade he was a part of before joining Rainbow. "Have pride in the Brigade", his superiors said. Lee had nothing against the idea.
Lee stopped tapped his finger against his leg as the truck came to a halt(he has been for the last few minutes as he got bored). At long last he was going to see how the Rainbow would give its rookies an orientation on what they'd be doing while they were a part of the team. Soon after he was lead to the Operations Department along with the other rookies Lee could feel that there was a speech coming up. And as expected, Thatcher, an operator if the Rainbow team, stood before the recruits to give a speech.
Lee was used to listening to speeches. Boring or interesting, back in the army there were plenty. But of course, this wasn't one of those boring speeches he had to try hard to stay awake in. It was a rather straigtforward words of a veteran who experienced the Bellagio incident, among with the loss of his colleagues. No useless words, or stereotype welcome lines. 'Welcome to Rainbow it is.' Lee thought. He listened along to the end of the speech, concentrating to each word the new superior told him. Things were going to be harder now, much harder.
Looking around, Lee saw a literal melting pot of people. They all seemed to be from different nations of the world, wherever that had a CTU active. Some were in their full gear and some weren't. At that point Lee wondered if he himself would seem like he was in his "full gear"-because, obviously(for him) he wasn't. There were quite a lot of other things to wear over the camouflage clothing, and maybe he might go on about it for a few minutes if he was annoyed.
Shaking the negative thoughts aside, the Korean operator made his way to the desk, his eyes moving from envelope to another to find his name written on one as soon as the words were close enough to read. In no time he found his sitting on the middle of the desk, and reached for it. He stepped aside and opened it up, checking the living quarters info as he slowly walked towards the exit.
Birth-date / Location July 11th, 1986 / Daegwallyeong, Gangwon do
Special Forces Group R.O.K Special Forces- 9th Special Forces Brigade
Appearance On duty uniform: JAW wears most of the standard gear he used in the 9th Brigade. Bulletproof helmet, goggles, facial mask, military fatigue outfit, tactical vest, all with woodland MARPAT-like camouflage pattern, also with knee pads, elbow pads, combat boots, and protective gloves.
Off duty: Lee prefers to wear an olive T-shirt and the fatigue pants and combat boots he wears on duty, in case he is called as an emergency. He does change into other outfit when he has to wander out of the quarters without showing that he's a soldier.
General appearance: Lee is a 182.3 cm tall man, 84.2 kg heavy, man with a rather muscular physique. He keeps his hairstyle as the classic buzz cut. Lee has a rather round face with a friendly look on his eyes, almost looking like he's smiling all the time. His face is rather clean-no noticeable injuries are visible. He also has no tattoos on his body- just a plain human body, with small scratches here and there on his legs and arms.
Psych Profile Lee is a rather expressive man at casual times. He hardly hides his emotions and tries to communicate a lot with his teammates, though he is never the social butterfly type. He tries to keep a neutral point of view for most of his personal matters-abd some official ones too- and tries not to say things carelessly about them. Once Lee starts to concentrate, be it a mission or a test, he hardly opens his mouth unless it is necessary to, only focusing on the given objective. Lee also seems to 'calm down' at the smell of gunpowder. In an interview with a Rainbow personnel he stated that he found out the smell strangely fascinates him. He also seemed to be concentrating more in combat related trainings compared to others.
Relationships -Grace "Dokkaebi" Nam: The two knew each other, as Grace was in the 9th Special Forces Brigade before moving into SMB and then the Rainbow Team, though they weren't so close.
Stance in Combat Attacker > Defender. JAW's K11 is most suitable for offensive operations.
Operator Ability K11-R DAW DAW developed by S&T Motiv, with a little bit of magical touch by the Rainbow team's tech department. Comes with a full auto assault rifle moudle and a bolt action grenade launcher module. The grenade launcher can use two types of ammunition: -HEAB rounds, with its detonation timing programmable by the tech pieces on the scope. It concentrates on annihilating targets within range, and is able to destroy soft obstacles(unreinforced walls, trapdoors, barricades, etc.) when detonated close enough. -Breacher rounds, detonation on impact only. Weaker for killing but better at breaching.
An OICW-inspired weapon researched by S&T Motiv. It is a combination of a 5.56mm assault rifle and a 20mm grenade launcher with a laser range finder and a ballistics computer. --- Rainbow team's tech department helped modify K11 and its rounds to be more suitable for their operations when JAW's recruitment was confirmed. K11-R(R for Rainbow) was thus born, with two different types of rounds for the grenade launcher.
Biography Lee was born in the mountains but was sent to the Seoul region to stay at his aunt's once he reached 4, as his parents wished him to be a doctor. Lee excelled at studying, as well as various sports. His parents, his family, he himself, expected him to be a doctor once he graduated high school and was accepted into the Seoul National University. The story changed a bit when Lee was called for his mandatory service for the nation's army. He decided to settle in the military, and not as a doctor- a soldier. After years of service he was accepted into the 9th Special Forces Brigade, having proven his determination and skill to be enough for the special forces. He spent most of his life in the Brigade, serving for his nation. Lee's recruitment to the Rainbow team was discussed ever since the two SMB operatives were recruited, but was delayed as the team didn't require his help at the moment. The recruitment gained speed when the Vegas incident happened, resulting in the shortage of operatives in the team. Lee was offered a place in the Rainbow team, and he gladly accepted it.
