Sonya may have read her little brother's mind when the question was asked. They had just met this 'Knuckles', and sadly, the eldest didn't seem to have it in her trust anyone outside of the lab. Either with or without a human, she didn't have it in her to place trust in anyone just yet. However, she did give a soft glare at the Echidna a few moments after saying that he too was from a lab. Another escapee? Last time she checked, she and Sonic were the only mobians in custody of human personnel. At least that's what she heard anyway.

"It's a long story, Knuckles. One that we can't just tell immediately. Besides, we trust little to no one right now", she sadly confessed.

Sonya was just steadying herself to her feet, just until she spotted the assailant preparing to beat Sonic to the ground. "Let him go!", she snarled, once she got to her feet. She was just about ready to pounce on the odd red figure, but she managed to stop herself once she heard her little brother try to talk some sense into his attacker. So he was a mobian too? A pretty violent one, that is. Did he escape from a lab too?

For Sonic's sake, the elder went right with the conversation; really to hold back from retaliating against him for advancing on them in the first place. "We're mobian too; hedgehogs, that is", she has never seen a specimen like him before. "My name is Sonya; this is Sonic. We don't mean to intrude. We just need a place to stay", she probably figured that this individual was trying to protect its territory. It would probably be best to break the ice if they were to share it.

Sonya chuckled at Sonic's desperation to eat real food, rather than eat a wild animal. That was gonna be one of the many things she would need to teach him, if they were to survive out here. The scientists have concluded that Sonya's intelligence might be around the levels of a genius, considering that she was able to find out the ways of living and surviving. However, they've certainly missed her ability to conjure up an escape plan.

Just as she was about to take a bite of the cooked food from the box, shuffling was being heard behind her and Sonic. Immediately, the younger hedgehog was quick to prepare himself, but she was not. Just as Sonya was carefully putting down the box, a square punch came to her face, making her go tumbling backwards, and into the wooden wall nearby.

Sonya had to look around at the collapsed roof, and the worn-out floorboards. Sure, to wasn't the nicest place she had seen by far, but it was better than having hide out on the outside. She was absorbed of their surroundings, she only came back to awareness when she heard a deafening snap! from nearby. To see Sonic having to kill an innocent rat, the elder gave him a disapproving look at the rat in his hands. That's when she remembered: He barely knew anything about the outside world, due to being born and raised in a scientific environment, and not a natural one.

Resourceful she was, Sonya retreated out of the place in a dash, and towards the city. A second later, she came back with a few small white boxes: Chinese food. "Eat up", she tossed one to the younger. There was something that Sonic wished to know about the female hedgehog: How does she do it?

As much as hiding in a city sounds risky, Sonya knew that she her brother need a place to hide and settle, if they were to live in peace from human personnel. She continued to follow the lights down the road, until she managed to come upon a structure at the side of road. It was at least a few yards, to a mile away from the city, at the most. For this building to have caught her green eye, Sonya stopped in front of the place. She waited for Sonic to catch up, and once he did, the female hedgehog smiled. "It's not much, but it'll do for now", she told him, while scanning the place. She looked at him again, before proceeding inside.

Sonya had her eyes placed in front of her while making her full advance down the road. 'Now, I don't know where to go from here. Guess we'll have to follow the lights, and see where they lead', the female hedgehog thought to herself, while she and Sonic dashed down the road. A few cars came before her, and she evaded them with ease.

The faster she went, the more architecture began to appear. There was a city up ahead! It was good to see something that would provide them shelter, but the question was where.

Sonya frowned, once thoughts of their mother came to her mind. There was a very vague memory left behind about the woman's existence, and just by looking at the sky, one of them came back. There was a time where she watched the sky with her, as well as the time where she would touch her mother's belly with her tiny little hands. Then, there was a tiny sliver of her mother telling her to "always protect her brother" and to "stay alive". As these memories recalled themselves, the female hedgehog had her green eyes closed, and arms crossing her chest.

Her eyes finally opened, as the wind gently blew passed where they stood. It felt good upon her spikes. In the distance, she took a gaze at some lights in the distance. Streetlights! They were near a local spot. She looked at Sonic next to her. "Come on, let's find shelter", for that, she ran on the lighted road, going so fast, and only making a blue blur in her tracks.

"A girl can dream, right?", Sonya asked rhetorically, once she heard Sonic's praise, just before proceeding to follow him into the outside world. "You feel that, Sonic?", the female hedgehog asked him, as they ran away from the lab, and halted once they were at good distance from the place of her little brother's birth. "Freedom...and adventure", she recalled while looking at the stars in the sky.
