Whoops! Forgot to add an @mention in my IC post. Fixin' that here. :'D

Daler Ghumman

"All of them, I'd say. Lots of very interesting stories behind them going by the admissions paper-Ahem. I didn't say anything about that," Daler said, finding himself slightly too at-ease and only barely catching himself before discussing students' private information, most of which he wasn't even supposed to have read up on.

"I will say that you made a good choice with encouraging the big one, though. He needed it. I'll also say I'm keeping my eye on the panda and the little girl on his team. The first person who messes with them is probably going to be a troublemaker," he continued. None of the students had signed confidentiality waivers (and none of them probably would), so Daler was being very careful with his choices of words.

"We've got the usual mix. Some rich, more poor, and a few delinquents like always. The thing that stands out to me most is that we've got so many children with Japanese names this past few years. Twenty years ago they were mostly Irish and Greek, and twenty years before that, they were mostly Russian and English. Feels almost like Channelers come here in waves."

Upon arrival, Jonathan waved goodbye to Professor Freyja Leden. She had business to attend to with the other staff in organizing the event and keeping things from getting too violent, and he had to catch up with some of the people he'd known from the previous year. Ryuuto was there, of course, as were Jun-Sang and Mina Miss Kasuke. He wasn't really familiar with Jun-Sang, but he had on occasion had to work with Miss Kasuke the past year, for better or for worse. He was sure he had a higher opinion of her than she of him, but he figured it wouldn't hurt to say hello.

And so he approached. He'd been through the routine of getting his ass handed to him for saying the wrong thing that day already, so he made a focused effort of taking Mina's Miss Kasuke's temperament into account. He still hadn't quite figured out how to properly address her, but he gave it his best shot anyway.

"Good morning, Miss Kasuke. Would it be alright if I joined you?"

Brock Van de Vate

Brock smirked at Bradley. So this dumbass thought he was cut out to be a leader, huh? Maybe it'd go well, maybe not. It was a sound game plan, though, and he decided to go along with it -- it reminded him of his old crew's sports teams. It was looking like a good chance to get back into the swing of things, at least, even if he did take issue with the overly carebear-y rules list. So he took the time to get prepared.

"If you want to try to wrangle cats, that's fine by me, man. Just make sure you know what you're doing. I don't have a lot of faith in anyone who couldn't find a mile long building marked on a map, y'know, but I'll give you a chance."

The newspaper came out, and he kneeled down to set it on the ground. $2 in pennies came out too, which he sprinkled across the middle of the newspaper, and he started rolling the entire assembly up. The third and final ingredient, a water bottle, was placed on the grass next to the newspaper. While he worked on his paper, he responded to Bradley's suggestions with some restraint. He'd rather show off his powers in action than simply tell everyone.

"Getting too close to me is a really bad idea, so I'm going mid. Who's with me?"

WAAIT!!!

Wait for me and Daler to get there to watch the kids!

This golf cart only goes 5mph! Wait for us!

srs tho we can get there on time
@13org I just realized, if Musashi sees Meilin's martial arts, he's totally gonna fanboy over her and want her to teach him stuff.

A pre-emptive welcome to the class, then! We have tea, curry, coffee, and ass kickings on demand.
<Snipped quote by Azereiah>

That's a good idea and something I sort of thought was obvious enough that I totally forgot to mention, respectively, so thank you for both of those.

Physics tends to be forgotten in sci-fi and fantasy fiction a lot. What seems obvious isn't always, as I found when I had to re-design Jonathan's powers.

Let's get this thing knocked out so you can join in ASAP
That's it...

If anyone as much as LOOKS at my grandpa Daler in the wrong way, they're going to be in deep trouble.

He is so kind and caring! <3 OMG he is soo sweet!

@Azereiah

Don't worry too much, he can (mostly) take care of himself
Meilin would've seen him put down an unruly student or ten in her time with him.
@DarkwolfX37
Alright, so those powers. First, guns or anything that are similarly as deadly as guns are not allowed in the RP at all (as the vast majority of the characters don't really have anything that can counter guns), so that brass knuckle move has to go. Second, I'm assuming that the truth ability is based on being able to see the body's physical reaction to lying, kind of like Toph's lie detector ability in Avatar, right? Third, the counteraction and disagreeing powers sound like very weird, abstract and pretty OP powers, some of which border on mind control. And finally, I'm uneasy about allowing teleportation and turning invisible unless they have some easily counterable aspects to them

@DarkwolfX37

On teleportation: Perhaps a pre-image is visible at the destination point for a split second before the teleportation actually occurs?

On invisibility: Those vibrations are loud. Very loud. And they generate a lot of heat due to friction. While the eyes can't follow the user themselves, other sense can take over in a pinch, and vibrating like that while on the ground may kick up dust or cause excess wear on the surface.

Jonathan nodded. There were a few chemical labels that he was familiar with, like potassium nitrate and pure sucrose, but far more that he had never heard of. Middle school science class didn't go very deeply into different compounds, and it certainly hadn't taught anything about explosive development. In high school, he had opted for physics and mechanics courses instead of chemistry and biology, so he was still in the dark on most of it.

While Freyja applied the stiff bandage to the bridge of his nose, he stayed completely motionless. The bandage would keep it straight during the healing process - usually a couple weeks if he remembered rightly. He'd have to pick up a few of his own when he had the chance, but there wasn't much time for that at the moment. When Professor Leden was done, he quickly pulled out his phone and tapped out 'Box of Bandages' onto a new line of his ever-growing school supplies shopping list. In a second, he put the phone back away.

"Thank you, Professor. And yes, I think I'd like that. Even though I've been here a bit over a year, I'm not familiar with this part of the grounds."

"Yeah. Just getting 'warmed up' before the event. Wouldn't want to do anything at less than top condition, yeah?"

The brief glow dropped to nothing and a small patch of grass around Brock's feet went yellow-brown. All the moisture had been driven out by the momentary burst of heat. He wasn't really trying to show off, so he wasn't putting anywhere near as much effort into it as usual -- otherwise the grass would've been on fire. Capture The Flag wasn't really his cup of tea, but it was a good chance to see what the other students had to offer, and perhaps show what he was made of. He turned toward Yasu.

"You throw lightning bolts, right? How 'bout we team up or something, show these kids how it's done?"

@Mercurial

Daler Ghumman

Daler nodded along with a smile at Meilin. He was familiar with the temple in question, as he'd traveled there in spirit once to observe a potential student during her training. The Temple elders were wise and old, and skilled in the ways of the body in ways that Daler himself had never achieved. He had never mentioned it to Meilin, however. She'd eventually remember a young Punjabi man in a familiar-looking turban standing outside on the Temple steps, leaning against a statue one day during a lesson. He had given her a thumbs up and turned to leave, satisfied with the Temple's agreed-upon lesson plan.

"I won't discuss the internal thoughts of the students, but I will say that there are a few whom I believe would very much be interested in what you have to offer. You'll see them in action, I'm sure."

Daler had been dreading the assessment earlier, but he couldn't help but nod in approval at Meilin's suggestion that they go to observe. He just wanted to go back to his room and take a nap, damn it, but his students took priority every once in a while.

"I think that's a lovely idea. Let's go."

The golf cart putted along as Daler drove off towards the CTF Woods, rather than his personal parking space outside his office. On the way, an idea struck.

"I keep forgetting that you're still a student. Time flies by so fast that I can't always tell the difference these days... I know that finding a spot may have been difficult without staff permissions, so I'd be willing to hold your classes in my old classroom if you need it."

The 'classroom' in question was large, unadorned, with simple rubber mats laid across the entirety of the floor and a large mirror across the back wall. Daler had been using it more recently to hold detentions, but for the majority of the day it was completely untouched. As an added benefit, students would be able to enter a calmer rendition of his dream world at will under direct supervision for full-contact, full-power sparring sessions.

Jonathan entered the office and his eyes widened slightly at the massive amount of equipment in the back. He wasn't sure what he was more surprised by -- Freyja's massive stockpile of research equipment, or the fact that she had more legitimate substances than Doctor Cartwright had illicit ones. If he were more chemistry-oriented, he'd definitely have immediately offered himself up as a potential protege for the Professor. "You have a beautiful laboratory, Professor Leden," he said, in awe of the materials.

A few moments passed and he realized he had been staring at the back of the office, so he sat down as instructed. He knew that the Professor had seen the blow, but out of habit, he stated what he believed to be the problem. It was usually better to state the symptoms and expected condition than simply hope a doctor could figure it out on their own, after all. He'd been through this part a dozen times at the Institute alone, and even more than that before. "Typical broken nose with no other problems. That girl has a good arm."
