My issue with GMing is once the novelty of the new idea wears off, I have no idea what to do next, and everyone is looking at me to progress the narrative.

I still haven’t watched TLOK. It’s on my long list of shows and movies to binge.

Bio

Gay, he/him, Autistic

I’m Crimson Flame and I’m addicted to RPing. But sometimes ADHD kicks in, and it takes me longer to reply to things than it should. If I’m taking too long to respond, feel free to say something. Just don’t be rude about it.

There are a bunch of RPs I like. Pokémon, Digimon, Fantasy, Superhero, it would take too long to list them all. I’m not a fan of Horror or Apocalypse settings though.

I have a particular type of character I like making. Look through my Character Sheet thread, and see if you notice what a lot of my characters have in common.

I actually like the concept. I’m not sure if I’ll join, but I am interested.
I still got space. I just posted this today. 😂

I’m looking for a small group. 4-5 players max.

Anyone have any thoughts on what kind of characters they want to play?
@Crimson Flame

Aurelia Rosé lol

I actually like that, and I’m going to go with it.
I may have to change her nickname. Aurelia means golden one, and she doesn’t fit that anymore.
The universe decided to troll Valerian.

You can have a pink fairy, but it is a bug!
Well, don’t leave us in suspense. Who?
Once upon a time… became every time.

The kingdoms of Everafter look like a storybook dream. Castles, curses, dragons, and destiny. But underneath the glittering surface, something is wrong. For generations, the same stories have played out, over and over. Cinderella always flees at midnight. Sleeping Beauty always pricks her finger. The Huntsman always spares Snow White.

The stories repeat. The same heroes. The same villains. The same endings. Generations of people trapped in loops they don’t remember, playing out fairytales over and over with only the smallest variations. No one notices. No one questions it.

Until now.

A few individuals have begun to remember. Flashes of lives they’ve lived before, dreams that feel too real. They are Awakened, and they are not alone. Whispers of rebellion grow louder. A masked figure called The Red Pen offers freedom from fate. The fabled Epilogue, a place outside the narrative, might hold the answers. And behind it all is the mysterious force known only as The Author, the one who rewrites the world whenever they get bored, or things start going off-script.

You are a character from a fairy tale. Maybe you’re the lead character who gets rescued for the umpteenth time, and is just sick of it. Maybe you’re the villian who’s tired of being a villian? Maybe you’re just a random villager doesn’t want to be in the background anymore? No matter who you are, something inside you knows: this is not how your story ends.

Will you follow the script… or write your own ending?

So, this is an idea I’m working on. Who’s interested in helping me flesh this out?
You saw it here first, folks.
Prince Valerian of Evig, confirmed Bug-racist.

Bug-phobic is more accurate.

Valerian wasn’t sure what he was expecting, but it certainly wasn’t this.

He had prepared himself for a formal affair. A dignified handoff. Perhaps some words of guidance from a polished professional in a tasteful lab coat. Instead, well…

Director Beck was professional enough. She dressed the part, and had a way of commanding attention without raising her voice. He liked her. She reminded him of his mother in a way. Someone who could run a country while making it look like a light workout.

Then the professor entered.

Or rather, he was was found. Face-down in a puddle of his own coffee. Hair a mess. Facial hair present.

Valerian stared, then blinked once, slowly. ’This is fine,’ he thought. ’Everything’s fine.’

And then the Champion showed up. Loud. Late. Carrying donuts. Talking a mile a minute like she was doing a stand-up routine. Flirting with the Director. Valerian didn’t know whether to be offended, charmed, or concerned. Probably all three.

By the time they were led into the terrarium, his expectations were thoroughly demolished. But at least it was beautiful. The zones were intricate, the space massive. Something about it actually felt… impressive.

Maybe things were turning around.

And then he saw the Pokéballs.

He found the one labeled Valerian and picked it up carefully. He took a breath. Pressed the button.

Light flashed. A shape emerged.

Small.

Round.

Fluttering Wings.

Legs.

…So many legs.

He froze.

“No. No, surely not—”

The Pokémon hovered in front of him. Bright eyes. Delicate wings. A sparkle of Fairy energy.

A Cutiefly.

“No.”

His lips tightened. His posture didn’t change. But inside? Screaming.

He didn’t say anything at first. Just looked at her. She floated closer and gave a happy little chirp. She was cute. She was polite. She sparkled. She was a Bug.

For a moment, the princely facade fell. “Of course I received a Bug!” he exclaimed. “Of course the universe looked at me and said: Give him the most polite insect imaginable!”

The Cutiefly did not give a damn about Valerian’s freak out, and quietly perched herself on his shoulder.

He sighed. She may have been a Bug, but she was still a Fairy… “Ugh, you’re lucky you’re cute…”
I wasn’t going to join this… I have a lot of RPS already, but I just couldn’t resist.

A lot of creative liberties were taken…

Also, hi @King Kindred :P

Zachary Zatara was born to two kind parents. His uncle, Giovanni "John" Zatara, and his daughter Zatanna, had great fame as stage magicians and real magicians on their own. This however was not the case for Zachary’s family mostly due to his mother. Zachary's mother, who was a pure Homo Magi, was determined to make sure her family had nothing to do with magic. She wanted a normal life for her family. To ensure this, she placed a charm on Zachary that would seal his powers as a Homo Magi. Of course, Zach always knew his family had magical abilities, but he assumed that he was a rare case since his father was a human.

Stopping Zachary's magic could not stop him from being different than other children though. He not only buried himself books most kids his age would be too young to understand, but also had a keen interest in learning about magic and stage. He grew distant from others, and spent his time pursuing his interests. He found most of school boring. As a result, he never really had any friends.

After various strange visions in his dreams and study sessions, Zachary learned that something might be stopping him from reaching his true potential. So, he decided to pay a visit to his uncle at the age of 16. His uncle confirmed this and told him there was a seal made by his mother that was preventing him from being able to use magic.

During said visit, his parents went on a business trip and things didn’t necessarily turn out as planned. Because of some drunken driver, they got in a car accident which killed them instantly. Even with this tragic event a good thing did come out of it. The spell that was placed on Zachary was gone since his mother was dead. Zach had always quietly felt guilty for being happy that the seal on his magic was removed, because his parents had to die for it to happen.

Ever since then, Zachary has been spending more time with his cousin, and also using his abilities to become a hero and a famous stage magician. He learned everything he knows about magic from his cousin. He is a successful YouTuber with over a million subscribers, and he’s trying to live up to the Zatara name while also forging his own legacy. Unlike Zatanna, who is respected and revered, Zach often finds himself underestimated, and that drives him to push harder. Whether he’s saving the world with flashy spells or dealing with the fallout of his magical mistakes, one thing is always true: The Show Must Go On!

I would also like to mention that this version of Zach is gay. Why? Because I want to that’s why. :P

Zach Zatara has so much potential, but canon DC does nothing with him. In most canon appearances, Zach is treated as little more than Zatanna’s bratty cousin. I’m here to correct that. I want to give Zach the arc he deserves. In this version, he’s more than a stage magician with a famous relative. He’s a young Homo Magi reclaiming his narrative, trying to live up to a legacy he was actively kept away from.

When his powers were sealed by his own mother, Zach assumed he simply wasn’t gifted like the others in his family. It wasn’t until her tragic death that the seal broke, and with it came power, guilt, and a lingering fear that maybe he didn’t earn this. He’s got something to prove now, to the world and to himself.

Zach has a lot of untapped magical potential, but he’s kind of a noob. Part of his arc is learning control, restraint, and the ethics of magic.

He wants to be more than Zatanna’s cousin. Through hero work, stage performances, and his rising internet fame, Zach is carving out an identity that’s all his.

Zach hides behind humor and bravado, terrified of vulnerability. I want him to confront those walls. Whether through relationships, grief, or his responsibilities.

The cost of the spotlight: What happens when a hero is also a content creator? What if his need for validation from an audience becomes a liability in high-stakes situations? He’ll have to navigate public perception, parasocial relationships, and the pressure to be “on” 24/7.
