Okay! The thread has been created! I'll no longer be checking up on this thread for replies. Please read everything once more if something didn't make sense the first time. It's organised it a little better. I'm looking forward to seeing your characters and getting started!

It was a normal day in the year 2018 when all the lights went out. If everyone in the world didn't have the same experience, one could argue that it was all just a dream. But as everyone recalls that day, it stands to reason that the impossible is real. On this day, not only did electricity fail, causing an understandable level of panic, but fires went out as well; even the sun, moon, and stars did not shine. This absolute darkness lasted for what has been estimated as one minute, simultaneously across the entire globe.

When the lights came back, almost nothing seemed out of place, except for the small population that had fallen into a deep sleep. Spread evenly across the globe, there seemed to be no reason or rhyme to those who fell victim to this coma. Age, gender, race, or religion, there was no connecting factor between all these people. The strangest thing of all were the conditions surrounding the comatose. They were not able to be touched, by human hands or any other means. It was as if they were frozen in time with an impenetrable force field surrounding their bodies. Whether they were standing or laying down, their bodies became immovable monuments to the dark day.

Many of the comatose have been quarantined off by scientists for study. Others, frozen in public locations, have basically become tourist attractions. Some have been protected by their families, as they fell into the coma while in the safety of their own home. And an unknown number of people could easily be missing from society, frozen in an isolated area, caught in the middle of an estranged adventure.

But on the one year anniversary of the 'Dark Day', a new chapter began. On this day, every coma stricken person woke...

Welcome to Olympus Falls!

Please refer to the IC thread for the backstory.

Here you can learn the rules of this fantastical reality and ask questions if anything is unclear. This can also be a good place to plot with others about what your going to do in the IC section (or you can take that to PM's if you want to be sneaky).

So here's the backdrop:

For some mysterious reason, all the Greek gods have been pulled from their domains. Their memories have been wiped, and they have been placed inside the souls of mortals. Only when the mortals sleep, can they converse with the god trapped within them, and even then, the god doesn't know what to tell them, as their memories have been completely wiped, as aforementioned. So in other words, you will control a human character as well as the god within them, controlling two characters that share one body. Your first posts should be centered around waking from your coma (see IC thread) and the events surrounding that awakening. The rest of the adventure will consist of your characters getting to know one another as well as the characters of other users. Then you must handle all the plot twists and conflicts I throw in the mix. Who knows? I may even approach you in PMs to enlist your help furthering the plot.

Hear ye, hear ye! The following are our 10 commandments! (Or guidelines)

1) It should be obvious by now, but just to state clearly, you must keep to Greek mythology, not Roman, not anything else.

2) You can't choose a god at Titan level or above. If you don't know which gods are Titans or pre-Titans, do a little homework please.

3) The human! The god you choose effects the characteristics of your human character. To be precise, your human character has to be the mirror image of the god in every way but gender. In other words, if you choose a strong, brave, righteous, elderly god, you must make your human weak, cowardly, selfish and young. "But why?" I chose Zeus because he is all powerful. I don't want him to be trapped in a nobody!" Trust me, there is a reason that ties into the plot. Plus, this will be an interesting point of inner conflict for your two characters, something to build their relationship around.

4) Superpowers! I know we're all anxious about this part. Fresh from your coma, all characters will find that they are full of energy and may notice that they can no longer become sickly. If they were sick before being frozen, they become well again. As they develop, they will all find common godly abilities comparable to telekinesis, telepathy, and other psychic powers. But keep these psychic powers low key for now. Also, if the god you've chosen has his own special arsenal of powers, they will show slight signs of displaying these powers as well. Not all gods have special powers, like mother gods, but I'll allow you to make up their powers as long as you base it off their lineage. OR you can always just be happy with having the immense raw power that comes with having a god within.

5) The awakening! Part of your quest is discovering the god's name that is trapped within. As I mentioned, your human and god can only converse when the human sleeps, and even the god doesn't remember who they are. But you can also gain clues through your specialty powers, if you have them. And your characters can have joint flashbacks if something triggers it, such as meeting another human with a god that has a relationship to your own. Once your characters solve this mystery, the memories of your god will be restored and they can converse freely, even while the human is conscious. The only thing the god won't remember is how they ended up in a human to begin with.

6) Superpowers 2.0! After your god has remembered their name and past, they can also lend the human more power. Again, all gods will have psychic, raw energy powers, but now you can dial that up to action packed proportions. And of course, your specialty powers will be boosted as well. Now, what are the limitations here? Think of your god's normal power and scale them down to human size. In other words, if your god was known to lift the heavens on his back, then the human can lift incredibly large boulders with ease. Keep in mind, it's up to the god to lend power to the human.

7) Remember, you won't immediately run into another character, being that all the afflicted people were spread evenly across the planet, but you can lead your characters' story in that direction.

8) Don't get too attached to your characters; if you put your characters in a life threatening situation, the mortal body will be killed and your god will disappear. Plus, you can only have one human/god at a time, so if you are tired of your choice, why not let them die and make a new character?

9) You cannot pick a god that has already been claimed by another person or that has already died within the story. First come first serve on god choice. Sorry, no exceptions here. I imagine this is where we will run out of new entrants to the story.

10) Finally, if you are bringing in a new character after the story as already been launched for a while, after the plot line is already rolling, you can sum up your character's waking up scenes and name discovery scenes in one or two well developed posts. But don't do this too fast if you're going to be with us from the beginning; let the relationship between your human and god develop.

I know there are a lot of things to remember, but I was going to make this a novel at one point in time. In fact, it was going to be a trilogy. So if you can survive in this crazy world, with these crazy rules, you will find many fun plot twists in store. And, if you stick with us, lets just say, those Titan and above gods will become less forbidden. ;)

Appearance: Two pictures. No photographs. Animations only. One for your human. One for your god.

God Name: (insert Greek god name here)

Human Name: (John Doe)
Human's Age: #

God's History: Leave us with a link to your source material, an article that you're drawing your ideas from. Also, clear up any discrepancies after the link, such as pinpointing your God's parent(s). I say this because some Greek gods have hazy family trees.

Human's Biography: What did your human do for a living? Does he/she have a family? Any notable successes or failures? What were they doing right before they were frozen? These are all just writing prompts; I leave this up to you. I'll let you know if it's too short and sweet, but I'm not that picky.

Human's Personality: Don't worry about this common section. Your human is supposed to be the mirror image of your Greek God. Just let that show in your posts.

Abilities and Equipment: Again, don't worry about this. Let these be inferred by looking at your chosen god's history and the human's biography. Just remember, while we are all controlling gods here, there is no god modding.

For those that don't know, god modding is when you automatically cause an effect to another person's character; you can state your intent to harm or heal or whatever, but they have to be given a chance to respond. On the other hand, you can't dodge or deflect or defend to a perfect degree without a damn good reason. Being the GM, I do reserve the right to do a little god modding here and there, only for the sake of furthering the plot.

UPDATE: Remember commandment 8, don't get too attached to your character? Well, I have found a fair way to decide major decisions, such as if your character will die you not. The method is a very classic one, dice rolling. To prove that the result of my roll is fair, I will use this Dice Roll Chatroom. I won't use this very often, just when making major decisions.

This was actually going to be a novel, but the more I think about it, I believe this will make for a very interesting story to be shared among the wonderful writers of this site. Respond if you are interested; as you will see through reading, this story can allow for many characters.

So basically, when you make your character sheet, you will create a human character and a backstory for them as well as name the god within them. When selecting your god, there are two things to consider. First, you can't choose a god at Titan level or above. If you don't know which gods are Titans or pre-Titans, do a little homework; trust me, just reading summaries on Greek mythology is fun! Also, whatever god you choose, your human character has to be the mirror image of that god in every way but gender. In other words, if you choose a strong, brave, righteous, elderly god, you must make your human weak, cowardly, selfish and young. "But why? I chose Zeus because he is all powerful. If you want them to become visibly healthier, use this new found energy to make them exorcise or something!

As for specific powers inherent to your chosen god, let them discover these powers slowly and in small amounts. This may also provide your characters with a clue as to the name of the god within. If you chose a god that doesn't seem to have very unique powers, and there are some Greek gods that don't seem very special, look at their lineage and make up reasonable powers, or just deal with godly power and don't bother with the special tricks.

This brings us to the next valuable plot point, figuring out your god's name. Let your characters discover this puzzle out together through dreams and/or flashbacks triggered by events, such as meeting another character with a god that has a relationship to your own. Once your characters solve this mystery together, the memories of your god will be restored and your human character can tap further into the powers of the god, if the god sees fit. The only thing your god won't remember, is how they got trapped in a human in the first place. Now, how powerful can I be once my god's memory returns and lends power to my human character? The Broken Drum - Casual drop-in chat for out-of-work adventurers

His finger tips brushed the shot glass, but he was to late indeed. The drop of pixie blood hit the floor and exploded, creating a mushroom cloud of rainbow smoke and leaving behind a hole in its wake. He stared, dumbfounded by the little explosion and thanked his lucky stars that he hadn't put that stuff in his stomach.

The lute player snapped out of his trance, when a small rock like creature presented him with a gemstone. He immediately looked up and processed the strange creature's request. "ABSOLUTELY!" He exclaimed suddenly, "Anything for stones this precious!" He swung his lute around on it's leather strap, much like a rocker at concert, and began playing one of his favorites. The rhythm was fast paced, and he would beat on the face of the lute to create a percussion background.

It didn't take long for him to get into the music. His eyes closed and he began singing beautifully intricate lyrics with cryptic meanings. The lyrics would go to and fro between wold powers struggling over something called oil and epic stories filled with giants and gods. It was as if the minstrel wasn't even conscious of his words, but more-so focused on keeping up with his own fast paced music.
