Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Perhaps, although the new system does open up a few ideas I haven’t thought for this before. I do plan on still filling the out of combat utility our group may require.

And this is more of a nitpicky suggestion, but is Dexterity the stat related to the strategic skills? Judging by the current affinities listed, wouldn’t something like Cunning be a more appropriate name?

I was using the first of these to definitions when refering to the word dexterity:

Definition of dexterity
(plural dexterities)

1 :mental skill or quickness
2 :readiness and grace in physical activity; especially :skill and ease in using the hands manual dexterity

I would argue that while "cunning" may fit most affinities better, two affinities make that narrow word feel out of place "White Magic" and "Mind

<Snipped quote by Balthazar007>

I guess that's my cue.

Ya'll got it. Not worries. Also, I just awarded you your first 10XP for making your first post on this first page. So you can level up or just bank it for later. Your choice.

I do see your point though. If someone wants to second your opinion, I'll make that change.
Heyo. Potential new member here. I have a couple questions as I'm working on my character sheet, and I might have more later.

#1 Are there any particular locations where a new character could be helpful? I think my character would have grown up in a relatively urban place, but I don't care about the specifics.

#2 How will we get our first Pokemon in-game? Is my character expected to already have one Pokemon, or is she supposed to get it during IC roleplay?

Very good questions.
1) You can start anywhere that has a Lab. I'm going to add a lab to a few more of my locations that currently have vacant buildings. It does not matter where you start, but wherever you start will influence whatever Pokemon you may find in the area. Afterwards, you can travel anywhere you like. This is an open world RP.

2) Your character must visit a Lab to get started as I mentioned. There you are given your Pokedex and an EMPTY Pokeball. Go out IC and catch your first Pokemon. Technically wild Tier 4 Pokemon are caught at level 1. But you will also gain a 3 level boost for first post of the month. Essentially, this means that immediately after you start, your new Pokemon will hit level 4.

Remember to keep track of your own TP and items via a hider at the bottom of each IC post. I'll watch you closely while you are still a Beginner trainer to make sure that you are doing things correctly. Once you get the hang of it, it's very easy.

Glad to have your interest! Welcome!
Organization:

Aether Foundation

Name: Aether Foundation

Type: Special Interest Group
Sub-Type: Public Interest Group

HQ: Clearbrook Mountains

Mission Statement: "We work to protect the habitats of Pokémon, and nurse Pokémon harmed by illicit activity to health.”

Organization History: The Aether Foundation has multiple branches; the one in Alola was just one of many. This is yet another branch of the Foundation, one recently dispatched in the wake of the incident involving the President. Since the incident, the Aether Foundation has moved past those shady dealings and put more focus on their initial goal. They utilize tools such as very-large floating structures to construct suitable habitats for hurt Pokémon to recover, before releasing them back to their habitats.

Other than that, this chapter of the Foundation does a lot of field work, and dispatches Aether trailers out to different areas of the region to perform studies on the Pokémon and their natural habitats, and how human activity affects those habitats. As a result of the incident, subversive or criminal activity within the Foundation is absolutely not tolerated, and those who engage in criminal activities are reported on and then swiftly booted from the organization. They have seen what that sort of poison has done to the Foundation in the past, and they do not want that as part of their legacy.

The Foundation has since remained open to people willing to help Pokémon, and has encouraged young Trainers to learn as much about Pokémon and Pokémon ecology as possible so as to better understand the relationship between humans and Pokémon.

The branch manager of this sector is Theodosia Wong, a lean woman with jet black hair and frameless spectacles, with a kind disposition. Given the Foundation's history, Theodosia is very cautious about the behavior of the Foundation members.

Until recently, the Aether Foundation main office has been positioned in Central City. As the town became more populated and battle oreiented, Theodosia decided to move to a more quite location, hence the move to Clearbrook.

Membership Requirements:
-None: The Foundation is open to all people who desire to help Pokémon and their habitats.

Rules and Regulations:
-Always act in the best interests of Pokemon and their ecosystems.
-Respect the law, never engaging in criminal activity.

Members:
-Branch Manager Theodosia Wong (NPC)
-Florence Hadley

Aether Foundation Mission Board:

The Aether Foundation takes mission requests from anyone, as long as their request is in accordance with the mission. They also put out missions on their own accord if the need arises. Missions can be submitted via an online portal, and trainers within the organization can access these via their Pokedex.

@Cu Chulainn
Awesome! Yeah, things have been brought back in terms of complicates. It's much more intuitive I would hope. If you want to do a whole new character, you don't mind editing over the top of your old one do you?

EDIT: I think your old character fits just fine in the Tactician class.
@rush99999
Oh yeah, what affinity would you like Durwith to start off with?

"Heavy Weaponry"?
@Balthazar007

Duly noted. Also, I've made the necessary edits to my CS in the Char tab.

Fantastic! I'll add your character to the bottom of the 0th OOC post now. You can start lone wolfing it up in the IC thread if you're ready, or wait till more peeps join. It's your call.
@CollectorOfMyst
Yes, I'll put out a new interest check.

@rush99999
Ah, yes, good point. I suppose I can remove that catch. Though, group play is still encouraged for Main Quests as it would take ages to complete a Main Quest on one's own.
@LuckyBlackCat

The good thing about a soft reboot and time skip is that we can alter some things. Maybe, if you'd like to think of it this way. "Pokemon: New World 2.0" is a parallel dimension to the old site where some things are actually different, if only slightly. We don't actually have to work that into the lore, just background thoughts.

With that in mind, all missions that are wrapping up can simply be considered "complete" and everyone can claim the rewards that were promised by the old system. Missions that were in the middle or begining can be re-written as missions within organizations, as you suggested... based on the new mission system. And yes, Aether Foundation and Legend Watch will have to be Special Interest groups, which means they can house any of these missions. Also, as long as ONE of the people involved in a mission is a part of the organization that has holds it on its board, all is well. The rest of the people on the mission don't have to be in that organization, only one person.

Does that all make sense?

And I can bring over Aether Foundation myself here in a little bit, since ToadRopes isn't active anymore.

Hello Everyone!!

It sure has been a while. I apologize for abandoning this project a while back.

But I am back now. I really wanted to revive this RP, but as it was laid out before, I could understand why it didn't get going. There were just too many stats for me to keep track of for a Post-by-Play RPG. So I have re-imagined the concept, to make it much simpler and more story focused.

I have a different job now, giving me more time to dedicate to RPs as well. So, I hope you all reconsider joining! If so, please look through all the changes.

Thank You!
