Current Euh. It's been a hot minute. Things are rather different for me now, and I don't know how that translates to my presence here.

I don't *think* I'm a bad person. I might be wrong there. I try not to be, even when I screw it up for want of social awareness.

Hello, I am me from the internet. I migrated here from Kongregate's Forum Games Forum, so feel free to look for me there if you wish to follow a career in internet stalking people. (ಠ_ಠ) ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

A link to some of my past characters, which I need because static tabs do not take up internet.

Infamous Quotes From People Who Exist

“I really don’t follow how your faith believes its perfectly acceptable to doom 4,000 years plus of sentient beings, on a pre-set path of no escape from sin, just so their descendants can be offered the ‘chance of salvation’ when the god murders its own son.”
~vikaTae

“Don’t be an ass or a pussy, ’lest you get screwed by life. Being a mouth or a hand is somewhat safer, and an eye socket is pretty much sacred in this regard, so always keep a look out.”

@Ghost Queen Innate abilities, which essentially translates to natural weapons (and potentially magic), which would also include weaponry similar to or derived from any innate abilities and bionetics the host had, including biomods. So yes. I suppose it bears mentioning, as well, that it's not impossible for a Husk to acquire biomods or cybermods after their creation, assuming the mods are appropriately modified to suit them, but the race's nature as essentially a zombie proto-apocalypse generally precludes anyone actually wanting to help them, for obvious reasons.
@Ghost Queen Sounds like a plan to me.

@LancerOfBlue With regards to what magic is, an assumption that it's an all-encompassing field of sorts will suffice. Regarding your ideas, uhhh... this may need discussing with Solaris before anything is confirmed, but I believe I did point out previously (if I didn't, I am now) that transformative magic is extraordinarily difficult for the same reasons that simply blowing up a person's head is difficult - you need to manipulate all of the substances involved in the transformation, and especially the need to alter one's genes from human to animalistic and back was a nigh-impossible feat, since for the majority of history humans didn't even know genes existed (though now that they do, a VERY sufficiently-learned individual could feasibly attempt to create a spell that turns them into a chimera until they want to switch back... with varying success, ahemhem).
That said, the treant idea is actually more viable: it's established that rituals can be used to, for instance, become an immortal skeleton, and I imagine a similar ritual to turn oneself into a tree person, or rather put one's mind into a tree whilst shifting it into a form the user can actually move around, might be similarly difficult in different ways, but ultimately plausible. To wit, the person so altered would probably live longer than a normal human, but they'd still be limited by the tree's natural lifespan, and would obviously be somewhat out of luck if, say, an oak-killing fungus started sweeping through the ranks of the local ents.
Just as a final note, animal handling skills ought to be trained rather than an innate part of a druid's magical abilities, since again, transformation is difficult.

@Kafka Komedy Bionetics might be converted into innate parts of the Husk's biology. Cybernetics would just be ejected from the body as it morphs. The main thing about Husks is that their innate abilities- at least for the "sentients", in this case PCs, though that may differ from the understandably-weaker drones- are more on par with humans and chimeras including cybernetic and bionetic alterations, whilst consequently being stronger than biomod-less chimeras, and way stronger than unaugmented humans. Draconids set that up by being flat-out stronger, in exchange for it being real difficult to install either cybernetic or bionetic modifications; Husks do it by being potentially far more diverse, not only having access to the perks of being a zombie insect, but also a pool of powers that they outright don't need modification to access, potentially up to and including the passive magical effects Draconids possess if they get lucky (reeeaaaal lucky, though, especially if it's both flight and a breath weapon they're receiving). They can have acid cannons innately; they can have wallclimbing spider powers innately; and so on and so forth, pretty much covering the entirety of viable biomods and then some.
As for magical aptitude, I can imagine a sentient Husk created from a mage is more likely to have magical aptitude, in much the same way that a mage is more likely to give birth to children who are mages - not guaranteed, but as has been said, the chances of a magical lineage continuing are greater than a new line of magic being birthed from a previously-powerless one.
I have made a post at last. Aaaaand forgot to mention @The Fated Fallen in it, because I am forgetful. So, yeah, that's relevant to you, Fated.
It seemed like nobody had really reacted to Sett's proclamation of his actual profession, beyond a notable- and quite sharp- stare from the seven-foot-tall Elf-like being across the room. What did they call themselves? Skay-lee, or something, he wasn't quite sure. This was the first time it had ever been relevant for him. He was sure he'd learn the being's actual race sometime soon. Perhaps not his habits... though the soldier seemed more than happy to trust him on that matter. More fool him.

Either way, time passed, as time does, and it soon happened that it was time to move on to the wilderness. The tall fellow, apparently untrusting of Elven magic, was led out of the room by another individual. In her turn, the attractive-though-unkind Elf Princess began some sort of magical incantation, which Sett was sure he'd be able to figure out the logistics of if he only and they were in a field. An incredibly lovely field, almost as magical as the magic that had just been cast, but still a field. And it seemed this was where they were to sleep for the night...

He did not have his own camping equipment. As a matter of fact, he had not so much as a bedspread to his name. In fairness, it was not as though he was not more than used to sleeping rough, but he had not done so for close to three years now. And even if he had, he suspected it would be rather colder and harsher down in the Southlands than in the cities of Vrettonia... not, he noticed, something that seemed to bother the Dwarf of the party, who seemed to lie down and fall asleep near-instantly, in spite of another's protests. And now that he thought about it, this "other" was dressed in a manner suggesting wealth, though much inferior to the Princess' own lavish appearance, yet with more of a practical streak if the style was anything to go by. Though he'd be rather annoyed if it turned out she too was a mage of some sort, if the accent- so similar to, yet so different from his own- implied anything about her lineage. That might make acquiring anything off her harder than usual.

She was, however, quite able to set up her own campsite. For a while, Sett took the time to simply watch her and the others, with his soldier companion taking little and less time, whilst the apparently-noble lady took quite a bit to do her own preparations for the night. Finally, as she completed her tasks, he decided he might as well try to get into her good graces, if only to see if she was as gullible as the soldier in question; strolling over to her, he hailed her with a jovial smile: 'Greetings, O fair lady! I don't believe we've talked to one another yet, and I was wondering if I might get to know you, perhaps learn your name if I may? I'm sure you heard my, ah, earlier statements about myself, but I've scarce heard anything about you, perhaps for distraction's sake if nothing else.'
@Kafka Komedy 1. Because there are worse things than fictional zombie giant insects. That, and the more awareness there is, the more likely it is that people can stop it from happening.
2. You're welcome, and you can absolutely make a second character who's a mage if you like.

@13org 1. It's pretty bad, yeah. If you enjoy having faith in humanity, don't look up what they do.
2. Sounds like a plan. I'm looking forward to it.
@13org You know what's really gross? The process of selling Slow Lorises as pets, which involves... well, it's a godawful practice, as is any animal trafficking racket, and I'll leave it at that.

By the by, everyone, I've added in some clarifications about how magic is able to be utilised, specifically what it outright can't do and what restrictions it has on it, in the first post. Just so everybody knows.

EDIT: The "Other" section's center tag is broken.
Fortuna City, Eastern Gate - Insect Extermination

'...mutt, you say?' the red-armoured angel asked, a newfound tone of aggression in her voice, only to be cut off by her blue-plated partner pointedly clearing his throat. 'Who's talking about being a mutt, halfbreed?' he asked in his turn, notably unannoyed by the jab, though somewhat calmer anyway for knowing that the girl at least seemed to intend against violence toward the two, even if she was still prepared to respond to violence with violence. 'In any case, I do my best to avoid civilian casualties regardless, for it wouldn't be in Paradiso's best interests to slay its potential soldiers; I'm sure my partner is just as willing to avert that sort of needless loss too.'

Iscah was notably hesitant to confirm or deny that sentiment. In the end, she didn't get an opportunity to respond either way, as yet more Scarecrows found themselves charging out of the woodwork, alongside a number of Marionettes - which, she noted, would be just as weak to flame as their bug- and straw-filled counterparts. Eventually, she simply decided to tell the half-demon Kosara to 'Stay out of my way, demonspawn,' before leaping into the midst of the swarm, this time choosing not to directly utilise her flamethrowers, but rather to simply engage in melee combat with the horde as a sort of challenge to herself, taking advantage of their rather close packing to dole out Wide Swings where she could, blocking their scythes with her bucklers as necessary and dodging when she could not block, and when enough empty space opened up around her, to initiate a Tornado Strike, not only striking and slaying more of the demons, but setting them alight and often starting up a chain reaction of demon igniting demon until the crowd dispersed to avoid it.

Iacobos took a somewhat different approach. With a larger horde than before presenting itself, he imagined there would be no harm in, say, bringing forth a small army of his own. Not the angelic entities in reserve, mind, for they may be of more use in a bit, but his own acquired minions. With three consecutive cries of 'Affinities!', three portals edged and crackling with electricity opened, and three separate groups of the minor Angels poured forth before they closed - two groups of five A classes, one of five D classes, and each group led by a single E class. Eighteen in total, and whilst not strictly stronger than their foes, the E classes would at least be fairly resistant to harm, as any Scarecrow or Marionette trying to get in range would have to contend with the angelic flames that threatened to sear and burn anything evil that moved into close quarters. With his minions summoned, Iacobos doled out orders to them as follows, executed as they came: 'Destroy the Scarecrows and Marionettes! D classes, initiate with a skyward attack on your charge! Leave the half-demon alone unless she attacks an angel!'

As anticipated, the initial charge was successful enough, with the D classes sending the foes unfortunate enough to be struck by their flails into the air and the E classes setting ablaze the few fiends who dared stand their ground. After that, they found themselves up against the odds, for whilst both groups were certainly cannon fodder, the demons had rather more bodies to throw at the angels than vice versa. If Iacobos' calculations were correct, he figured the Affinities ought to hold out just long enough for the horde to disperse or be destroyed once again, since Iscah seemed to be holding her own very well; even so, he readied his blades for a close-range fight, just in case his assistance was needed.

@13org So I see, with my eyes. The zombie insectoids could use some love. Those are a playable race, by the way, folks, in case anybody wasn't sure.
@13org Glad to have you here. Honestly, we'll probably want more characters for other races at some point, but if you definitely want to go chimera, that works just fine.

@The Wild West That all looks good to me. Feel free to put Edwin into the Characters tab.
