Featuring: Sarah “Nova” Rosen, Tiffany Tran, and Ariana Song

Sarah was out of her natural element. She was actually out of the house on a Friday for once in her life. After her parents decided that it was time for her to get out of the house, because god forbid she stay somewhere where she knew her safety was guaranteed, Sarah opted for the cafe that just so happened to be within ten minutes of her house. She lacked a driver’s license, so suffice to say that she didn’t have many options when it came to places she could go.

Using her parents’ credit card, Sarah bought herself a large hot chocolate and got settled in at a table. Because this was Sarah, she came well equipped for her venture outside of her room for once. As soon as she received her drink and got settled, she pulled out her laptop, mouse, and charger. Just because she was ousted from her room didn’t mean that she was going to go without the games that she loved the most. The screen lit up, as Sarah took a sip from her hot chocolate. Today felt like a League of Legends type of day. Maybe go in there and yell at some people through their chat for missing some skillshots or leaving their lane when they weren’t supposed to.

Queueing up, Sarah sat back in her seat. Luckily, she was allowed to be AD Carry this game, which meant that they had a better chance at winning, just as long as the rest of her team was willing to pull their weight and not be deadweight that Sarah also had to carry. Sarah chose Kai’Sa, which was her go-to for ADC. Eventually, everyone was locked in, and it was soon time to go. A smile grew on Sarah’s face, as she put her earphones in and got ready to get going on the virtual battlefield.

Tiffany wanted a quiet place to go. She’d somehow managed to slip away from a rather loud kickback with her friends and found herself in this cafe. She’d never seen it before, but it was worth having a shot. It was better than inhaling second hand vape and watching her girls snort fake ecstasy. At least here, she was getting what she paid for. There wasn’t a line, but there were a handful of people around. That had to be worth something, right?

Tiffany clutched her phone close to her chest, clearing her throat as she looked up at the menu. “Hi… can I please get your thai tea, please? That’s all for me.” The cashier smiled and placed it in the register, the price popping up in front of her face. ”Cool, that’ll be $6.75, please.”

The Asian girl flinched at the price. $6.75 for a cup of thai tea? This had better been the best cup of thai tea in her life. There was no way she could justify paying so much for a measly cup otherwise. Reluctantly, though, she gave the cashier a ten dollar bill, and got $4.25 in change. Placing the quarter in the tip jar, she turned around and waited patiently. She took yet another look around the building. Everyone here seemed to be hipsters who probably listened to music with less than 5,000 listeners on Spotify. It definitely wasn’t her crowd, but it was one she’d like to be.

Tiffany grew tired of having to take ecstasy and eat Korean BBQ nearly every damn week.

A particular image caught her eye, though. She looked down at the girl sitting in front of her, glancing at her screen. Was it a little nosy? Yeah, but Tiffany figured that if she was willing to put herself out there like that in a place like this, then wandering eyes were kind of inevitable. She was playing a game here, too, it looked like. It looked like one of those nerd games based on how focused the girl looked, but at the same time, she couldn’t bring herself to look away. It was just so colorful and the way that everyone was doing their powers and killing people, she was intrigued.

Tiffany wanted to know more.

”I’ve got a large thai tea here!” Someone cried out, which prompted Tiffany to turn around. At least it was big. Tiffany thanked the staff before grabbing the drink. The girl wanted to keep watching, but she couldn’t just stand behind the girl like a creep. So, she had to settle for sitting next to her. At least the table next to her was vacant for now, which Tiffany took in order to gain a good sight of her screen.

Sarah was rolling. She was catching on fire and obliterating everything in her path. She had managed to level up fairly quickly with her farming, so she was able to melt people in her lane with relative ease. Everything within eyesight of her was melted. It didn’t matter what the fuck they were or who the fuck they were, Sarah practically deleted them from existence. Repositioning herself in this cafe had worked wonders, because she had never played a game like this before.

The streamer was racking up the kills and assists, and hitting all the skill-shots she needed to hit. It was a spectacle to watch -- up until the point where she inevitably got a little too aggressive and was deleted in return after being ganked. Sighing, she had a timer to wait through. She was going to go around and see what the other people on her team were doing, but a tap on her shoulder had startled her and caused her to jump a bit. She turned toward the Asian girl who had a curious look on her face.

”AH- Hi, yes, hello…” What did this girl want? Was she going to be teased for playing video games in a cafe? She thought these places were a judge-free zone! It was 2043. Come on. ”Can I help you?”

Tiffany flinched just a bit at the girl’s sudden reaction. Maybe she shouldn’t have done that, but it was far too late at this point. Might as well just roll with it. ”Hey… what game is that? I’ve seen a lot of people play it but I don’t know what it is or what it’s about.”

”Oh, this?” Did someone really not know what League of Legends was? Did this girl live under a rock or something? Sarah was perplexed, but she didn’t want to be an asshole about it. ”This is League of Legends… one of the most popular games in the entire world. It’s like thirty years old or so, but people still play it today. It holds up!”

”Ohh, so what’s it about? Do you just go around killing people?” Tiffany asked curiously, sipping on her thai tea as she watched the figures move around on the screen. Based on how color returned to the screen, it was time for Sarah to get going again and get back to killing. She felt kinda like an asshole for asking so many questions while this girl was trying to mind her own business, but again, it was far too late to even take anything she said back. And hey, who knows? Maybe she would actually be open to talk about it. Maybe this girl was actually nice.

”Basically… yeah, but it’s not about killing people. Sometimes you gotta heal them instead… or basically support them, y’know? Teamwork makes the dream work?” Sarah shrugged, watching her champion plow her way down bottom lane to help out with a team fight that was just about to blossom. Hopefully that was an opportunity to use her ultimate and other abilities to win that team fight. This girl was interested in what she was doing, though. It was rare that someone take an interest in what she was doing, especially people like the girl sitting next to her. No offense, she just didn’t look like the type to be into video games, especially those like League of Legends. ”You see these giant statues shooting stuff at my teammates? That’s called a tower. We’re supposed to take those down in our lane and try to get to the other team’s base and blow their shit up.”

”Is that how you win?”

”Basically… or if the other team surrenders.” Sarah began clicking furiously and mashing buttons on her keyboard as she pulled up to the team fight. She managed to get a couple of kills as a result, finishing off people who were pulling away. ”Why don’t you watch me play for a bit? If you have any questions I’ll answer it.”

”Are you guys talking about League?” A voice popped up from the back, which caused both girls to turn their heads to see just who in god’s name had entered the conversation. It was none other than gamer extraordinaire, Ariana Song. She had also come here for a quiet place to be, but knowing that League of Legends was being played in the same building as her was something she was definitely not going to pass up, nor was she going to pass up a conversation about it.

The both of them nodded, before Tiffany shrugged. ”I’ve never heard of it before… so I just wanted to see what it was all about.”

”Oh! It’s basically about a bunch of champions going around killing each other. It’s so much fun and it’s so satisfying to get a win.” Ariana stuck her face in between the girls, looking at the screen before looking at Tiffany. ”I hate it. Don’t ever play it. It’s ruined my life.” Ariana shook her head, before going around the little fence area that was created to take a seat with Tiffany.

”Hey, do you guys go to BHHS? I’ve been looking for fellow league players.”

’Yeah! I think I’ve heard of you. Ariana, right? People talk about you sometimes and how you play all sorts of video games.”

”Yep, that’s me. You’re that streamer….. SuperNova, right?”

”Yeah… but call me Sarah. It’s weird if you call me Nova in real life.”

”I’m Tiffany. I also go to BHHS.” Tiffany put her hand on her chest, feeling a little awkward and excluded as the two new girls talked.

”Hey, are you guys going to Captain Cuddles tonight? I heard there’s something going on over there.”

”W-What kind of stuff? What’s Captain Cuddles?”

”To be honest, I have no idea. I just know a lot of people are gonna be there tonight. Do you guys wanna come with me? Maybe we can just hang out and… talk about league, I guess.”

”Uh, sure? I mean… I don’t have anything else to do.”

”I don’t know… what do you guys think? I don’t really do parties….”

”Ah, just stick with me, and you’ll be fine. If you’re uncomfortable, you can always just go home. No hard feelings.

”Okay… I guess I’ll go then. I just have to tell my parents.”

”How are we gonna get there, tho?"

”I’ll just drive y’all, I guess. Cool?”

”Cool.”

”Yeah. Sounds like a plan.”

Kaitlyn Holliday. Yeah, Kate was short for something, can you believe it? Anyway, right now she was sitting in front of a computer. For whatever reason, someone was asking her to do a complete overhaul of the suspension system on their car. It was a hefty task, but for the price that was offered to her, it was something that she was more than willing to undertake. After all, that was what she sank herself into hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt to learn how to do. She was putting that Engineering degree to good use. Typing in some numbers on the computer, various numbers and graphs were being spat out to her on the program. To the average eye, they didn’t really mean much, but to Kate, they were exactly what she needed right now.

Camber, toe, rebound rate, ride height. Those were just some of the things that she needed to figure out soon if she wanted to get it done on time. Taking a sip from the cup of black liquid, she sighed out of boredom as graphs and more numbers were spat back out at her. The goal was to maintain perfect balance and make sure the car could handle as well as it could. Being that the customer’s car was a fat Nissan 370Z, the task proved to be more difficult than she previously anticipated with the sheer nature of the car and how it was built. She was rolling her eyes so hard that she could practically see the back of her skull. She would've given anything in the world to have an excuse to stop doing this. This was frustrating her so hard she could feel her brain dissolving with every number she inputted and every adjustment she made.

Then, her phone lit up, rumbling the entire desk as it flashed the homescreen. Who would text her at this very hour? Kate was perplexed. Picking it up, it turned out to be none other than Jamie, also known as one of her besties. The other, was of course, her tattoo artist. Opening up the text, it was something that she hadn't really expected. She was expecting a meme of some sort, some car trouble, or just some random bullshit that Kate was more than happy to indulge herself with. Nope, it was something that was entirely out of Kate's realm. An invite to a party? A masquerade, nonetheless? What the hell even was SPECTRUM? Whatever the case was, Jamie had just sent Kate a ticket to the party a few nights from now.

Kate looked up above to the corner for a second. Truthfully, the mechanic didn't have anything planned on that day, but she liked to act as if she did. Shrugging, she texted Jamie back, indicating that she was going to accept. It sounded fancy, so why not? She had some dresses she wanted to bust out and slay in. Might as well use the party as an excuse to wear it. Hopefully Jamie was going to be there. Otherwise it would've made for a rather awkward time, and Kate was awkward enough as it was already. She could already anticipate that she might have had to retreat to the bar, provided there was one, if there was nobody she knew there. It might've been a waste right off the bat, but that was an issue that Kate was going to deal with if she got there.

For the time being, Kate looked around to see if her boss or any coworkers were around to see what she was doing. Not like it mattered, anyway. She knew her boss was busy watching whatever reality TV show there was on her computer. Minimizing the tuning program, she pulled up the browser. Google was her best asset right now. The first thing on the agenda right now was to figure out just what exactly a 'masquerade' was. She had some idea but she never really had a concrete idea as to what it was. The sooner she got to the bottom of this, the better off she would've been later down the line.

"Now what the fuck... I have to wear a mask...?" Kate's eyebrows furrowed, "These masks are ugly..."

Anna was spinning in her chair in her little cubicle as she was at yet another day at her 9-5 job. Honestly, Anna hadn't anticipated on being stuffed into a cubicle all day when she was slaving away at those late nights and grinding away in front of those textbooks. Anna thought she'd spend a lot of her days in a laboratory doing cool shit. But nope, there she was, sitting in a cubicle and watching her inbox get fuller and fuller by the minute as emails were flying all over the company about various questions. There was the occasional Taco Tuesday email from Debra in QA, or the one-off email in IT that told people to stop watching porn on the employee network. But for the most part, Anna could afford to ignore most of them, since by the time she would get to it, the question would either be resolved or the sender would've made their way to Anna's cubicle.

Right now, Anna was staring up at the ceiling. She waited for the clock to strike 5:00 PM so that she could get up and out of her cubicle and haul ass back home. She was so done with this place... but then again the paychecks were so good. It was just another day in the life of Anastasia Ivanova. If Anna had a gun right now, she honestly would've shot herself. She was sooo bored that goofing off on the internet and shopping virtually didn't interest her either. All that was on the screen of her work computer was her inbox, which just had messages keep coming in and in and in. How many questions needed to be asked about a small component that went into a prosthetic arm? It had been answered countless times, but yet people just kept fucking coming.

To save her from her woes, her manager came to her cubicle, an envelope in hand. Uh-oh, was Anna in trouble? She didn't do anything to be fired. Reprimanded? Yes, but to be fair it wasn't her fault that her coworkers were so god damn stupid and brain-dead. Sometimes people could use a good chewing out, even though she was one of the newer employees here. But, her manager was one of those people who took NO SHIT, and had his way with Anna. Not the good way either.

"Hey Anna... I just got word from upstairs about something the company held earlier."

"What are you talking about?"

"Didn't you enter the raffle the company had earlier this year?"

"Oh yeah, I did. Why?"

"Well, you won." The manager handed her the envelope, which felt strangely a little heavy. "Have fun."

With that, Anna's manager walked off, leaving Anna to her vices yet again. The Ukranian looked at the envelope, before taking a pair of scissors and running it across the top to open it. Inside? A ticket to SPECTRUM'S party a couple of days from now. Anna gasped. She knew the implications of going to a party like this. She had heard of SPECTRUM's festivals before, but she had never been able to attend. The last time they had one of these, she was a broke ass motherfucker in university. She had forgotten that it was happening again this year, which made the whole ordeal so much sweeter.

"Shit... this means I gotta find a dress!" Anna murmured to herself, before wheeling over to her computer. It was time to hit the websites, and see which one had the best dress she could wear. Nothing in her closet right now was up to par for a party like this. It was going to cost her a lot of money, but she figured it was going to be worth it if she were to find something to definitely stun people and make impressions. She hoped that the party would open up some opportunities for her.

For a country that produced one of the world's worst dictators, they sure produced one hell of a gun. The Glock 22 that was currently in Leonard's hands was being held gingerly, all 2.14 lbs of it. He had the misfortune of having to fire this gun off a multiple amount of times. Some bullets were rightfully spent on the undead inhabitants of the world, and other bullets were spent on the... more alive inhabitants of the world. However, spending this much time with the group and staying alive for as long as he did had meant that he had developed quite a strong sense of discipline when it came to using his gun. With bullets being more and more scarce as time went on, ammo became as hot of a commodity as ammunition did. It was rare that they come across actually useful ammunition that his gun could take. As common of a cartridge as it was in the pre-apocalyptic world, .40 S&W was harder to come by than its smaller brethren.

Leonard sat atop a log, checking his gun and making sure all was fine, at least the best he could do without taking the gun apart. He pulled the slide back, revealing that there was a round in the chamber. If Leonard had to pull the trigger anytime soon, he would've been able to do so almost immediately. But, with that aside, that was as far as he was going to get with his gun. With so many people around, it was almost useless to use. It would've just caused undue noise and ultimately be a nuisance. They had the manpower to get through things with the sheer force of their muscles and wills. At this point, it seemed like the gun was more for other people, instead of measly zombies who seemed to be made of plastic based on how easily everyone seemed to bash their skulls in. Not to say that Leonard hadn't used his retractable baton to bash some heads in either.

Sighing, Leonard placed the gun in his holster, standing up and slinging his bag over his back as he made his way closer to the group. Right now he was within eyesight of some members, but it was better to get closer to everyone else. They had been walking for a pretty long time, and it was pretty easy to tell that the majority of the members of the group were exhausted and needed the rest. Leonard was fine for the most part, he could've kept going for a bit, but he understood having to stop for the time being to let the less physically fit catch their breath. They were safe for the most part right now, so he figured it was okay. The worst case scenario was that a horde came at them right now. Then... they would've had to figure out how they were going to haul ass. But that was a bridge they were going to cross when they got to it. Right now, it was just time to rest, or for Leonard, check up on some other people he had grown familiar with during his tenure with this group. There was still some time to kill, and Leonard wanted to make the most of it.

Violet was someone he had grown to be familiar with over their tenures within the group. It helped that she had the coolest dog he'd ever seen, and that was saying something since he had known many police dogs over their lifetime. But, for whatever reason, he had grown rather fond of Violet and Argos. Not saying that he wanted things to get steamy, that was something he didn't want to think about, especially since the person who held that slot in his heart was more of the... stabby and slashy variant. But, Violet was a nice friend to have and someone nice to talk to, and Argos was a good boy. You could never neglect the fact that Argos was about as good of a boy as they got. He was reliable and trustworthy, more so than other members of the group, especially some ex-criminals here. They might not have said it, but Leonard knew a criminal when he saw one.

Maneuvering his way around some people who were still resting up, he was stepping up behind someone who was already interacting with Violet already. Maybe they wanted a piece of Argos as well? He understood, after all Argos was one of the goodest boys around. It was hard not to play with him. In a way, he had more roles than just being the obligatory group dog. Some people found him as good morale. some people took comfort with his presence and the fact that he was so receptive to the other people in the group, at least he hoped Argos was receptive to people. Leonard found that Argos was receptive to him, at least, he wasn't sure about other people. Getting closer, he watched a knife be pulled out. On instinct, Leonard put his hand on his holster before realizing the man's intentions, which was just as bad as he witnessed him slit the rabbit's guts and absolutely desecrate its course as he offered its remains to Violet.

What... the fuck? Leonard had to step in before Violet got into a situation he didn't want her to be in. "Whoa, whoa! Hey!" Leonard stepped in, putting his hand up toward... Bubba and looking over at Violet and Argos. "Listen, buddy, I don't think Argos would be very receptive to... that. Haven't you ever had a dog before? They're all used to processed shit. I don't think he would do very well after eating whatever you've got hanging from your hand over there." Looking at the corpse of the rabbit, he cringed a bit, "Also... did you really have to do that in front of them? Not a cool move, my dude. That's some serial killer shit..."

Dallas had been hanging out toward the back of the group as they traveled. At some point he just straight up lost track of how far they were going. Did they even know where they were headed? It seemed so aimless and random that there just had to be a discrepancy when it came to what exactly their goal was. Dallas was fine with trucking on, but not as fine with trucking on without a purpose. Were they trying to get somewhere with supplies? Somewhere that could provide them with supplies and get everyone back into shape? It might not have been apparent right now, but at some point supplies were going to run out. It might not have been anytime soon, but it was better to accumulate as many supplies as you could before it got uncomfortably close to becoming empty. But, he wasn't the leader of the group. He was just here so that he wouldn't be the first one eaten if things turned south.

Eventually they rested. Some people immediately sat down and got their bearings, other went off to do things, and other people? Well... they did things that Dallas didn't want to think about. Dallas still had the energy to keep on trucking, but he didn't really know who he could stick to for their resting period. Everyone seemed to be preoccupied, whether it'd be complaining or checking cars for any stray supplies that might've been useful. It was more than likely that most of these cars had been cleaned out. But, if they had gasoline around, they would've been able to get some of these vehicles working and maybe make transport a little easier. There was no telling what was going to be done about the horses and whatnot, but... it wasn't like he had to worry about that anyway. Wasn't like there was enough gas around to get things going anyway.

Wandering toward the front, he found Freddie Jones trying to poke a zombie's head out with his furnace fork thing. That was a weird tool to use, but based on how bloody it was after the encounter, it appeared to be effective. It wasn't going to be something he questioned. Slinging his baseball bat over his shoulder, he then soon went somewhere else to have a group powwow of sorts. Based on what he said, it seemed like there was a Costco nearby -- great, so there was a goal in mind! Costco! Where people could buy shit they didn't need in amounts they didn't need. But, given the context of the situation they were in, it wasn't a bad idea. However, it also wasn't an original idea. He was sure that other people had the same idea.

"How are we so sure there's fuc- I mean freaking stuff in there?" Dallas put his bat down, dragging it against the ground, "I don't think we'd be the first ones there."

it absolutely is.

Sorry to Bother You: Charm
Annihilation: Fucking Awesome
Tully: Abysmal

1/3.

i just saw annihilation, sorry to bother you, and tully

one had a lot of charm, one was fucking awesome, and one was abysmal.

i'll let you guess which one was which.
@Bee I'm not trying to point fingers at anyone individually. I just feel that it isn't particularly useful. So I don't know about other sites. It's understandable to be frustrated when someone refuses to take advice, yet constantly asks for it. If that is indeed the case. But to answer what can pragmatically be done? If you think someone feeds off attention, and they aren't being malicious in their pursuit of it which then becomes its own separate issue, the best thing you can do is actively ignore those people...

most useful advice has been expended and it is clearly not something he wants to do. it's just wasted time and effort and i'm sure nobody wants to waste further time in doing so.

the more we ignore him and let him keep doing this, however, the more threads he's just going to create and whine and bitch until someone comes along. there does need to be a stop put to this before he stinks up the whole place.
what else are you supposed to say when you offer advice to someone who clearly isnt taking it? he has made multiple threads on the exact issue and he clearly hasn't taken any advice.

it's not just here either. he's done the same exact thing on other forums despite having staff intervene and give them their own advice. there is only so much we can do for someone who refuses to take advice from all parties involved and clearly just wants to deflect and complain that its everyone else's fault and not his own instead of accepting the fact that it's also partially his fault as well and making efforts to actually strive and change and take everyone's advice into consideration.

I'm pretty sure a lot of us are sick and tired of his incessant bitching about how nobody wants to RP with him despite his refusal to implement any of the advice we've given him. like I said, theres only so much we can do for someone who plugs their ears and refuses to listen.
